• Routing for IPSec tunnel

  Hello. For Juniper NetScreen-NS25, I configured a site-to-site IPSec tunnnel. For the outside interface of remote site, I also needed to go through tunnel which has the same IP as IPSec gateway. Now, when I add static route to route that outside interface IP through tunnel while tunnel is up, there would be no problem at all but if the tunnel is down for some reason, it cannot be re-established as the routing for the IPSec gateway IP which is the same as outside interface IP is set to go through tunnel which it needed to re-etablish at that time. So, packets won't hit that IP. I tried adding another routing entry which has metric 2 through other gateway but it did'nt succeeded. So, what type of routing should I configure to reach that IP when tunnel is down. Thanks in advance.

  Hi, I’m working on a very simple timesheet for my work in Excel 2007 but have ran into trouble about calculate the hours and minutes between two time periods. I have a field: timestart which could be for example: 08:30 Then I have a field timestop which could be for example: 12:30 I can easy calculate the result myself which is 4 hours but how do I create a “total” table all the way down the cell that calculate the hours spend on each entry?   I recently wrote script that automatically enteres new Sub Domain records into the PDS mySql database. Now if I enter the entry mannually using Zone Admin my sub domain works 100%. Now if I add it using a simply SQL insert string eg "insert into records (domain_id, name,type,content,ttl,prio) values("; it does not work, I got told that I need to update the SOA serial which I do but it just does not want to take effect. I do the following date(Ymd)."01" and this does not work, any suggestions will be greatly appreciated

  Hello, I turned my pc into router by allowing port forwarding on port 80 and got my hostname(xyz.donexist.org) registered through dyndns.com. Now i when i type my public ip address in browser i get redirected to my browser. I have installed glassfish and have my website deployed in glassfish. I want that when i type xyz.donexist.org my website should be opened. What all steps more i need to take? I have made a entry in etc/hosts file as :- 127.0.0.1 xyz.donexist.org Please guide me.   I know that hosts.allow and host.deny only affect things that are tcpwrappered, but what does this mean in practice? It seems that most people use hosts.allow to handle ssh and nfs blocking, but what other services are typically handled there? And what services AREN'T typically handled there? Edit: ok, I realize I did a terrible job of explaining what I was after. No, I'm not interested in knowing if a particular service can be handled by hosts.allow, I want to know if a service will be handled. For example, if I do an lsof -i, I get a nice list of things that are listening for connections to my box. I want to know which ones will be affected if I go stick an entry into hosts.allow (well, I really want to know which ones won't be affected).

So what basically my design goals are: The storage system should be capable of handling dynamic entry and exit of nodes. Replication (for fault tolerance). For this i am thinking of using a Distributed file system. Every node could access data in the other nodes in a transparent manner. Are there some simple, easily pluggable opensource implementations?   I have this HUGELY irritating problem on Windows 7 (x64). Whenever I click on ANY link (that exists on a Word document, excel or Outlook), I get an alert box with the message: "This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer" I have been scouring my settings and the internet for a solution, but to no avail. Has anybody else encounted this problem? It even happens when I click anchors in word documents i.e. I can't even click on an entry in a Table of Contents to go to the appropriate page - I get this same error then. Is this a Windows 7 thing? Anyway to turn this off?

• Chrome Java Plugin not working after moving Java installation directory

  I recently moved all my Java installations from C:\Program Files\Java to D:\Java, as my C:\ partition only had a few MB of free space left and windows kept on bugging me about it. I also edited every registry entry in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft that pointed to the old directory to now point to the new one. Then changed the PATH variables and removed the old files, did a restart, and all Java applications work just fine. Yet, Chrome is the only application that seems to have a problem with what I did, as the Java Plugin isn't recognized any more. Are there any registry entires I may have missed? Maybe in the Chrome registry? How can I make this work again?

• Elantech touchpad: Right + Left click doesn't work

  This is very common problem and till yet unresolved. The Elantech driver disables right button + left button touchpad click. In the result you cannot aim and shoot in games also you cannot code that kind of interaction in your applications. Driver detects LMB+RMB click but it somehow filters it. I could not find correct entry in the registry to disable that obviously horrible setting. Please notice: 1. I have the latest drivers the problem existed with really old ones, a year old, on Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 ones and current. 2. It has nothing to do with the Windows or hardware but only with the Elantech driver settings. 3. Driver detects LMB+RMB click - it is shown on a dynamic icon on a task bar also uninstalling drivers fix the problem, but then you can't use your touchpad fully.

• Server 2008 Active Directory DNS Entries Deleted. Dcdiag unable to contact local AD controller.

  I've never seen anything like this. At a potential customer site, I noticed that the PC's were all unable to locate the domain controller and netlogon was failing. I fixed the DNS entries on the client PC's so the AD server was DNS server and tried to rejoin the domain. The PC was unable to locate the domain controller. On the server, I checked the DNS settings and while there is the high level AD folder, every single entry related to Active Directory appears to have been completely deleted. There are no backups from what I can tell and this has been happening for 6 months at least. Does anyone have any recommendations for repairing this? Thanks.

• Recurring events repeatedly saves a draft every minute

  Using Outlook 2010, some of my recurring (planned, not drafts) events is saving a draft to my Drafts folder every single minute as long as it's active. An example taken from real life is that I have a calendar entry (Appointment) occuring every day from 24-09-2012 until 28-09-2012 from 08:00 to 16:00 (GMT+1) with a blue category, only one participant (me) with subject but without a place. So every minute from 24-09-2012 until 28-09-2012 from 08:00 to 16:00, but not from 16:00 to 08:00, a new draft is automatically saved in my Drafts folder. How do I get rid of that behaviour? Addition here: Removing the offending event just allows a new one to take its place. There doesn't seem to be much on the sites - Microsoft calls it a "personal" issue, but there are more and more instances.

  Hi, I recently downloaded JDownloader for downloading from RS. But clicking the Reconnect icon in toolbar gives the error, "Reconnect failed. Please try manual reconnect". :( In the reconnection settings, there is an entry for Router's IP. and the rest(User,pwd, Reconnection script) are blank. I having BSNL dataone broadband connection in Bangalore. I connect to internet just by turning on the modem and no user name and password is required. How can i allow Reconnection feature in JDownloader.? If a reconnection script is required how to write the script.? Badly in need of this. Thanks in advance.

• Does sending e-mail in the name of customers increase the risk of being marked as spammer?

  Hi, We are developing a SaaS website application that lets users send invoices to their clients. Ideally, these e-mails should appear to be originating from our customers, so the sender e-mail address domain will not match the reverse IP entry for our server. In effect we would be forging their e-mail address, but of course with their consent. Will that result in a higher probability of being marked as a spammer / their e-mails being marked as spam? If yes, how bad is the penalty? And what about people who have an e-mail address originating form an SPF-enabled domain? I guess it should be the majority of the big e-mail providers.

• USB drivers installed twice

  Hello, I have a problem with usb drivers on Windows 7 64bit When I start up my laptop, the mouse I have plugged into a usb port does not work. I have to open the device manager, where there are two "Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller" entries. One is marked as faulty (yellow triangle). I uninstall this. Scan for changes. Then it re-appears, but not marked as faulty. And the mouse works. I have to do this every time I reboot. A colleague has the same problem. Both DELL laptops, but different models. I've tried uninstalling all USB controllers, but after a reboot, they are all reinstalled with the faulty entry. This only started happening in the last few weeks. Any help appreciated. • IIS Seems to Forward Domain/IP to Domain Controller

  We have a server (Server 1) with Win 2008 that is accessible by RDP and also is set as the primary DNS IP for a domain (example.com). This server is on the same network as an SBS 2008 server (Server 2) which is the domain controller and internal Dns server. Web requests going to example.com with IP of Server 1 are being passed to Server 2 and served up by IIS from Server 2. What causes this to happen? Is there a safe way to have Server 1 IIS handle the web requests which was our expected outcome? Example: DNS entry on ISP: example.com = 111.111.111.111 Server 1 = 111.111.111.111 Server 2 = 111.111.111.112 Web user goes to example.com in browser, and the page is actually returned from 111.111.111.112?

• Running dnsmasq as an authoritative DNS server

  I am trying to implement a dynamic dns service for my computers. I have pointed h.lohray.com to my EC2 instance in the NS record of lohray.com and have installed dnsmasq on that system and have made sure to unblock the firewall port. For now, I have statistically added an entry on my /etc/hosts file. 129.118.19.163 i7.h.lohray.com however, i7.h.lohray.com does not resolve correctly with nslookup or dig :-( This is the only time I could have this resolved (online nslookup) - 50.19.103.190 is the IP address of the EC2 instance where dnsmasq is running. Where could I have gone wrong?

  We are running Windows Server 2008 R2 with IIS 7.5 and have 4-5 Classic ASP sites to install. The main site is stored in wwwroot and the other sites are stored in folders below wwwroot. We have 1 IP address for the server. How do I configure IIS to allow folks to browse/test the sites before domain names are pointed to te server? When I setup one of the sites in a subfolder of wwwroot and assign a separate port to it, I receive a message stating: Config Error Cannot add duplicate collection entry of type 'add' with unique key attribute 'value' set to 'index.asp' How do I remedy this error and permit IIS to render the site?

• Does Exchange 2010 lift the restriction that DL addresses must be in Active Directory?

  We'd like to enable end-users to be able to create and maintain their own email distribution lists in Exchange 2010, where those lists may include users inside the company but also customers, partners, etc. who are outside the company. One of the limitations in Exchange 2007 (see this question) was that any member of a DL had to have an entry in active directory. You couldn't just take a group of email addresses (both inside and outside my company) and create an Exchange DL with those addresses without involving Active Directory admins to create entries for each external user. For a company creating hundreds of small mailing lists every month, this was an unacceptable IT expense. So we had to use a separate mailing list solution (GNU mailman) for DLs which included external users. Is this limitation relaxed in Exchange 2010 so we can throw away GNU mailman and use Exchange instead?

• DNSHost.exe trojan found, now after fix, no one can print

  What started today as an inability to get to the internet (but people could get in just fine), morphed to we realized that the DNS Server wasn't working, then we figured out that we had a trojan called DNSHost.exe (spybot.rl I think), and we disabled its service entry and deleted the offending file and all registry keys told to use by the Trend Micro site. Now, we can get on the internet, but the printer being served by this machine (called server2) cannot be printed to from any client machine on the network. We get the error "The RPC Server is unavailable". I'm assuming that this is related to the DNS issue we had earlier, as we were able to print just fine until this fun happiness started this morning. Anyone have any solid suggestions? Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2, and the client machine are all Windows XP SP2.

• Adding Ubuntu installation to VIsta boot loader

  Hi, I had a Vista partition and created a partition and installed Ubuntu 9.10. During the Ubuntu installation I unchecked "Install Boot Loader" so it didn't install the GRUB bootloader. I wanted to keep Vistas boot loader so I could manage it within Vista as I know you can - Ive just forgot where in the Control Panel you do it! Anyway for some reason I incorrectly assumed that the Ubuntu entry would be added to the Vista boot loader. How do enable to choose which OS to use during booting up the computer as at the moment it just automatically loads Vista? Apologies if I'm technically incorrect - what I explained is what I thought was going on!! Thanks.

• How to remove an "extra" (unwanted) network from a windows 2008 failover cluster?

  Hi, We had a severe crash on one node of our 2-node Windows 2008 / Exchange 2007 CCR Cluster the other day, and i tried to rebuild the node from scratch. I'm using this as a rough outline: http://edmckinzie.spaces.live.com/Blog/cns!687C72A5909E4230!508.entry?sa=641979772 The problem: Our cluster was originally setup with only one NIC per host, as this is supposedly supported in Win2008 (no dedicated heartbeat NIC). When I add my freshly installed node to the cluster, it shows up with two cluster networks, "Cluster Network 1" & 2. The existing node's NIC has been placed in one cluster network and my fresh installed has ended up in the other. I can't find anywhere in the GUI to choose which cluster network each physical NIC should be part of, but i KNOW I have done this before. Time is of the essence on this one, so I was hoping someone in here had the answer on the top of their head... Thanks for any pointers. regards, Trond Hindenes

• PERC 5/i Enable alarm on disks failures

  I'm trying to enable one the alarm of my server's raid controller PERC 5/i. Using this documentation, under the chapter Audible Alarm Warnings, it's explained that enabling an audible alarm is allowed in order to quickly spot failures on my hard disks. My trouble is that when entering the disk controller configuration (Ctrl+R at boot time), I'm able to set up lot of things but I cannot navigate to Enable Audible Alarm. I have : Enable Controller BIOS Enable Alarm Enable BIOS stop on Error I can navigate with my arrow keys to both the first and third items, but I cannot navigate to or select the second! It's not greyed out, and seems like I should be able to select go on this entry, but my cursor keep skipping it. Any ideas about what I'm missing here?

• redirect on a Domino HTTP server?

  Simple question but:- We have a server running Domino Http server on port 80. We have another apache server running on 8081. We want to set a DNS entry (say 'Things') to point to a page on the 8081 server. As I see it we need to do some kind of redirect on the Domino server to say that any traffic from hostname 'Things' gets a redirect to "http://server:8081/content/". So, in summary, if I type in "http://Things" on my browser I get redirected to "http://server:8081/content/" Does anyone know how to do this on the Domino Http server? Thanks in advance for your help!
