  • Passing custom Python objects to nosetests

    I am attempting to re-organize our test libraries for automation and nose seems really promising. My question is, what is the best strategy for passing Python objects into nose tests? Our tests are organized in a testlib with a bunch of modules that exercise different types of request operations. Something like this: testlib \-testmoda \-testmodb \-testmodc In some cases the test modules (i.e. testmoda) is nothing but test_something(), test_something2() functions while in some cases we have a TestModB class in testmob with the test_anotherthing1(), test_anotherthing2() functions. The cool thing is that nose easily finds both. Most of those test functions are request factory stuff that can easily share a single connection to our server farm. Thus we do a lot of test_something1(cnn), TestModB.test_anotherthing2(cnn), etc. Currently we don't use nose, instead we have a hodge-podge of homegrown driver scripts with hard-coded lists of tests to execute. Each of those driver scripts creates its own connection object. Maintaining those scripts and the connection minutia is painful. I'd like to take free advantage of nose's beautiful discovery functionality, passing in a connection object of my choosing. Thanks in advance! Rob P.S. The connection objects are not pickle-able. :(

  • Deleting items from a ListView using a custom BaseAdapter

    I am using a customised BaseAdapter to display items on a ListView. The items are just strings held in an ArrayList. The list items have a delete button on them (big red X), and I'd like to remove the item from the ArrayList, and notify the ListView to update itself. However, every implementation I've tried gets mysterious position numbers given to it, so for example clicking item 2's delete button will delete item 5's. It seems to be almost entirely random. One thing to note is that elements may be repeated, but must be kept in the same order. For example, I can have "Irish" twice, as elements 3 and 7. There is no noticeable pattern to the position given here, it always seems random. // The delete button's listener public void onClick(View v) { ViewHolder deleteHolder = (ViewHolder) v.getTag(); int pos = deleteHolder.position; ... ... ... } I would be quite happy to just delete the item from the ArrayList and have the ListView update itself, but the position I'm getting is incorrect so I can't do that. Please note that I did, at first, have the deleteButton clickListener inside the getView method, and used 'position' to delete the value, but I had the same problem. Any suggestions appreciated, this is really irritating me.

  • Glassfish: Defining Custom JNDI Names for Session Beans

    Background: Want to use GF3 in development, where as actual SIT, UAT, and production is using WAS. Problem: With the remote session beans everything is good to go, as GF3 gives a non-standard JNDI name, which is same as what WAS suggests, i.e. an absolute class name. Now for the local session beans WAS use the same absolute class name but with the prefix, i.e. ejblocal:. Whereas GF3 doesn't give any non-standard JNDI name for local session beans. GF3 came up with only portable name, java:global/..I need to find a way so I can use the same names for both. I am using EJB 3.0, WAS 7.9, and Glassfish 3. Don't have any xml confiuration for ejbs. Using Spring to inject the bean in Struts2 actions. With remote interfaces both servers are okay and agreed on a single convention, but for locals they differ. Is there any solution for this? Or just sun-ejb-jar.xml will solve it? Thanks.

  • C# Custom Dictionary Take - Convert Back From IEnumerable

    Scenario Having already read a post on this on the same site, which didn't work, I'm feeling a bit stumped but I'm sure I've done this before. I have a Dictionary. I want to take the first 200 values from the Dictionary. CODE Dictionary<int,SomeObject> oldDict = new Dictionary<int,SomeObject>(); //oldDict gets populated somewhere else. Dictionary<int,SomeObject> newDict = new Dictionary<int,SomeObject>(); newDict = oldDict.Take(200).ToDictionary(); OBVIOUSLY, the take returns an IENumerable, so you have to run ToDictionary() to convert it back to a dictionary of the same type. HOWEVER, it just doesn't work, it wants some random key selector thing - or something? I have even tried just casting it but to no avail. Any ideas?

    I've got a module that I'm attempting to turn into a proper OTP application. Currently, the module has start/0 which starts a genserver which supplies configuration data read from a config file. It then calls inets:start(httpd,config:lookup(httpd_conf)). I gather that I need to move the starting of these out into the .app file's (application list) but I'm not sure how to get my config data into the inets:start function (or pass in httpd)?     I have an Entity Framework 4.0 Entity Object called Revision w/ Nullable DateEffectiveFrom and DateEffectiveTo dates. I was wondering if there was a short-hand way of querying an object's RevisionHistory based on a particular QueryDate date instead of having to use the following query structure: var results = EntityObject.Revisions.Where(x => (x.DateEffectiveFrom == null && x.DateEffectiveTo == null) || (x.DateEffectiveFrom == null && x.DateEffectiveTo >= QueryDate) || (x.DateEffectiveFrom <= QueryDate && x.DateEffectiveTo == null) || (x.DateEffectiveFrom <= QueryDate && x.DateEffectiveTo >= QueryDate)); I've tried creating the following boolean function in the Revision class: partial class Revision { public bool IsEffectiveOn(DateTime date) { return (x.DateEffectiveFrom == null && x.DateEffectiveTo == null) || (x.DateEffectiveFrom == null && x.DateEffectiveTo >= date) || (x.DateEffectiveFrom <= date && x.DateEffectiveTo == null) || (x.DateEffectiveFrom <= date && x.DateEffectiveTo >= date)); } ... } And then updating the query to: var results = EntityObject.Revisions.Where(x => x.IsEffectiveOn(QueryDate)); but this obviously doesn't translate to SQL.   • Two-way databinding of a custom templated asp.net control

    I hate long code snippets and I'm sorry about this one, but it turns out that this asp.net stuff can't get much shorter and it's so specific that I haven't been able to generalize it without a full code listing. I just want simple two-way, declarative, edit-only databinding to a single instance of an object. Not a list of objects of a type with a bunch of NotImplementedExceptions for Add, Delete, and Select, but just a single view-state persisted object. This is certainly something that can be done but I've struggled with an implementation for years. This newest, closest implementation was inspired by this article from 4-Guys-From-Rolla. Unfortunately, after implementing, I'm getting the following error and I don't know what I'm missing: System.InvalidOperationException: Databinding methods such as Eval(), XPath(), and Bind() can only be used in the context of a databound control. If I don't use Bind(), and only use Eval() functionality, it works. In that way, the error is especially confusing. Update: Actually, using Eval() does NOT work, but using <%# Container.SampleString %> works. However, Eval("SampleString") gives the same error. That leads me back to this article I found earlier but had discarded. Now I believe it might be related, though I haven't cracked it yet ...     I have map.resources :posts and I want to be able to serve post bodies in markdown format. So I set up my respond_to block: respond_to do |format| format.markdown { render :text => @post.body.to_s } end But when I try to access /posts/1234.markdown, I get this error: NameError (uninitialized constant Mime::MARKDOWN): app/controllers/posts_controller.rb:96:in `show' app/controllers/posts_controller.rb:79:in `show' How do I add markdown as an acceptable format? Where can I see the list of acceptable formats?

  • Custom Windows Forms Control not exporting functions, not showing in tools list, showing as Text

    Hi, I have written a very simple control. C# Visual Studio 2008. Its output should be, and is a dll. I have added a reference to the dll within the project that I intend to use it with. The msdn article about how to write a control states that it should appear in the 'Add reference / projects' list, which it doesn't but I simply navigated to it under the 'browse' tab, went to the /bin folder and added the reference that way. I dragged it over to my toolbox, but it shows up as a 'Text:xhair_tool' and when i try and add it to a form, it won't, so what have I done wrong? It was created as a 'Windows forms control' project. However, I need it to be formatted in M:S format. So, my two questions: 1) What can I use instead of animate to take care of the loop yet maintain the callback 2) How (where in the code should I) can I play with the time format? Thanks.

What should be fixed to get what I meant? EDIT: Ok, so the solution to use ScopedTypeVariables and forall a in type signature works. But why the following produces very similar error to the one above?     Classes that implement IEnumerable and provide a public void Add(/* args */) function can be initialized like in the following example: List<int> numbers = new List<int>{ 1, 2, 3 }; which calls the Add(int) function 3x after initializing the List<int>. Is there a way to define this behavior explicitly for my own classes? For example, could I have the initializer call a function other than the appropriate Add() overload?

  • Custom iterator for a class based on two sets

    I have a class that contains two sets. They both contain the same key type but have different compare operations. I would like to provide an iterator for the class that iterates through the elements of both sets. I want to start with one set, then when I increment an iterator pointing to the last element of the first set, I want to go to the first element of the second set. How do I do this? I would like to preserve the bidirectional iterator semantics of std::set, but if it turns out that implementing a forward iterator is much easier, so be it. I'm willing to use the Boost Iterator library if that would help.

    I had a crazy thought about writing my own MSSQL driver to make it work something like non-blocking http client, so it won't be thread thirsty and could handle lots of db queries within one thread. I tried to look over google for some guidelines about implementing MSSQL client protocol, but found none really, where do those guys get information about it when they write own implementations for PHP or python? I need a really low level to be documented so I can implement all phases of working with a connection through sockets. And would be really nice to have a an example in c# langauge. :)

  • Custom DataType in DataTemplate breaks WPF designer

    Why does the DataTemplate line break the WPF designer in Visual Studio 2008? The program compiles and runs properly. The DataTemplate is applied as it should.
