• Worksheet.Unprotect - Office Interop - Difference between 2003 and 2007

  I have a .NET winforms app that automates Excel and checks for a worksheet password. The requirements are to be able to detect 1) that the protection is turned off 2) that the password is removed (protected but there is no password) 3) that the password matches the correct password from a database To meet the second requirement the program calls the Worksheet.Unprotect command with a null string, capturing the error. If error as expected, the 3rd check is made. If no error, then the Unprotect worked without a password == password was removed. The code sample below has these checks. The application can do this fine with Office 2003. I have since had my dev machine updated to Office 2007 and it no longer works as it did. When I call the Worksheet.Unprotect, Excel prompts for the password! I need to know how this should be accomplished in the new version of Excel or if there is a way to reference the old PIA. No matter what if I set a reference to Excel 11 it is replaced with the PIA for 12 in the GAC.   Hi Guys, please help µe as I am new into accessing an unmanaged DLL from C#.. I have a large unmanaged DLL in C++ and I am trying to access the DLL's classes and functions from a C# Web Service. I have seen many examples how to use DLLImport, but for some reason I am stuck with my very first wrapper method spending many hours with no luck.. What should I do to return an object in my 'Marshaled' [DllImport..] function? • Get website's server from IP address

But if I enter an IP address, I get an error saying "Invalid URI: The format of the URI could not be determined." when calling WebRequest.Create(url). Does someone know how I can modify this to accomplish what I want?

• How to create X509 self signed certificate for use in Apache Tomcat

  I have a Java application that runs on Windows Mobile devices using a 3rd Party JVM. The application communicates with an Apache Tomcat server over HTTP. We have also used HTTPS for some connections and the certificates were created using the Sun keytool utility. First a keystore was created using genkey, then the certificate exported using export and finally that was imported into another keystore using import. The file created by genkey was loaded into the Apache server and the keystore created using import was loaded into the JVM on the PDA. Everything works as expected. I am now working with a new JVM on the PDA and (for whatever reason) I have established that this JVM requires the keystore to be in X509 (DER) format. I started working on this about a month ago and had it working, but stupidly never wrote down the steps I took, and now I can't for the life of me remember what I did. I seem to remember using openssl but other than that I am totally lost. Anything I create now using openssl and try to load into Apache causes an error at startup (Invalid Keystore Format) so I am probably missing something out entirely. Does anyone have any ideas how I should be going about creating this self-signed X509 certificate that can be loaded into Apache server and JVM running on a PDA?

• Custom Django admin URL + changelist view for custom list filter by Tags

  In django admin I wanted to set up a custom filter by tags (tags are introduced with django-tagging) I've made the ModelAdmin for this and it used to work fine, by appending custom urlconf and modifying the changelist view. It should work with URLs like: http://127.0.0.1:8000/admin/reviews/review/only-tagged-vista/ But now I get 'invalid literal for int() with base 10: 'only-tagged-vista', error which means it keeps matching the review edit page instead of the custom filter page, and I cannot figure out why since it used to work and I can't find what change might have affected this. Any help appreciated.   I'm running Mac OS X Snow Leopard and wan't to access the Display from the activator in an OSGi bundle. • jQuery validation: how to customize trigger and response

  I am new with jQuery. I have a servlet based application which render an HTML form. This form is submitted via a function and the submit button IS NOT submit button in HTML. It's a regular button that calls a javascript function to do the submission. When running the submission function, the servlet also run a function called doCheck() which is in javascript. This doCheck() function can be defined per page basis. if doCheck returns false, then the servlet will stop the submission; else it will submit the form. I want to use jQuery validation to fit the servlet application. Is there a way to customize jQuery validation to be triggered manually (ie. only when doCheck() is executed) but at the same time provides continuous check on the UI (ie. if one type invalid number in date field, it will gives the appropriate msg when onblur event happen)? Is there a way to make jQuery validation return true or false? Thank you.

• Use Java exceptions internally for REST API user errors?

  We have a REST API that works great. We're refactoring and deciding how to internally handle errors by the users of our API. For example the user needs to specify the "movie" url parameter which should take the value of "1984", "Crash", or "Avatar". First we check to see if it has a valid value. What would be the best approach if the movie parameter is invalid? return null from one of the internal methods and check for the null in the main API call method throw an exception from the internal method and catch exceptions in the main API method I think it would make our code more readable and elegant to use exceptions. However, we're reluctant because we'd be potentially throwing many exceptions because of user API input errors, our code could be perfect. This doesn't seem to be the proper use of exceptions. If there are heavy performance penalties with exceptions, which would make sense with stack traces needing to be collected, etc., then we're unnecessarily spending resources when all we need to do is tell the user the parameter is wrong. These are REST API methods, so we're not propogating the exceptions to the users of the API, nor would we want to even if possible. So what's the best practice here? Use ugly nulls or use java's exception mechanism?

  Am using SendGrid for some email notifications, specifically utilising their SMTP API's. While they have PHP examples, c# is not so helpful. Essentially, a json string is built that contains the to email addresses, and other custom filters etc, which is then added to a MailMessage header to send. // json string example {"to":["[email protected]", [email protected]", "", ""],"sub":{"<name>":["Name1", Name2"]}} MailMessage m = new MailMessage("[email protected]", "[email protected]"); m.Headers.Add("X-SMTPAPI", jsonString); The problem I am having is that for some MTA's, headers can only be 1000 characters long, and also quoted-principle encoding required only 76 character per line. In their php example, they are splitting the string and adding a linebreak (\n) every 72 characters. While I am doing this in .NET, I am receiving a invalid character exception. After some digging, it seems that pre-.NET4.0 Beta2 MailMessage will not process CLLR characters. Sengrid support is not proving helpful, and looking at ways to make this work?

• Loading Liferay Properties from Spring IoC container (to get jdbc connection parameters)

  I'm developing some portlets for Liferay Portal 5.2.3 with bundled tomcat 6.0.18 using Spring IoC container. I need to map the User_ table used in Liferay database to an entity with Hibernate, so I need to use two different dataSources to separate the liferay db from the db used by portlets. My jdbc.properties has to hold all connection parameters for both databases: no problem for the one used by portlets, but I am having issues determining which database uses liferay to hold its data. My conclusion is that i should have something like this: liferayConnection.url=jdbc:hsqldb:${liferay.home}/data/hsql/lportal in order to get the database url dynamically loaded, according to Liferay properties found in portal-ext.properties. (Or, better, load the whole portal-ext.properties and read database properties from there). The problem is that the placeholder is not resolved: Caused by: org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanDefinitionStoreException: Invalid bean definition with name 'liferayDataSource' defined in class path resource [WEB-INF/applicationContext.xml]: Could not resolve placeholder 'liferay.home' To dodge this problem I tried to load explicitly portal-ext.properties with a Spring bean: <bean id="liferayPropertiesConfigurer" class="org.springframework.beans.factory.config.PropertyPlaceholderConfigurer" p:location="../../portal-ext.properties"/> but no luck: liferay.home is not resolved but there aren't other errors. • How to set up RPX widget and facebook app to be able to authenticate with rpx_now?

  Using the sample app for rpx_now gem ( http://github.com/grosser/rpx_now_example) on localhost:3000, I have successfully logged in via Google Accounts, myOpenID, Yahoo, but cannot make it via Facebook. In the RPX app/widget settings I have set my facebook-app key and secret. In my facebook app settings, the Connect URL is myappname.rpxnow.com. But when I try to connect, then I don't even see a facebook login page, just a number of redirects and I am back to my localhost with the following exception http://gist.github.com/386520 . Before I was successfully connecting with oauth2 gem, however, without fetching user data - only authentication. That time I set only key/secret and localhost as my Connect URL. Currently, I don't even ask for email etc., but still the same problem. Can it happen because rpx_now cannot get requested user data from facebook? Or it is a problem of facebook key/secret? May be I need to provide more settings of my facebook app? • Checking for corrupt war file after mvn install

  Is there a maven command that will verify that a WAR file is valid and not corrupt? Or is there some other program or technique to validate zip files? I'm on Ubuntu 9.10, so a linux solution is preferred. On occasion, I end up with a corrupt WAR file after doing mvn clean and mvn install on my project. If I extract the WAR file to my hard drive, an error occurs and the file doesn't get extracted. I believe this happens when my system is in a low-memory condition, because this tends to happen only when lots of memory is in use. After rebooting, doing a mvn install always gives a valid WAR file. Because this happens infrequently, I don't typically test the file by uncompressing it. I transfer the 50MB war file to my server and then restart Jetty with it as the root webapp. But when the file is corrupt, I get a java.util.zip.ZipException: invalid block type error. So I'm looking for a quick way to validate the file as soon as mvn install is completed. Is there a maven command to do this? Any other ideas?

  Hi, I am using the jquery validation plugin and want to use the errorPlacement function to add error messages to the fields title attribute and display just a ? next to the field. This works great when the form is submitted with the submit button but when any of the following events are triggered: - onfocusout - click - onkeyup The validation checks are run but it skips the errorPlacement function and adds the full error message after the field, like the default behaviour. • ASP.NET MVC: null reference exception using HtmlHelper.TextBox and custom model binder

  I have written a class which implements IModelBinder (see below). This class handles a form which has 3 inputs each representing parts of a date value (day, month, year). I have also written a corresponding HtmlHelper extension method to print out three fields on the form. When the day, month, year inputs are given values which can be parsed, but a seperate value fails validation, all is fine - the fields are repopulated and the page served to the user as expected. however when an invalid values are supplied and a DateTime cannot be parsed, i return an arbitrary DateTime so that the fields will be repopulated when returned to the user. I read up on similar problems people have had and they all seemed to be due to lack of calling SetModelValue().
