How do php apps identify a user after the session has timed out?

I am trying to understand how PHP apps check to see if a user is logged in. I am specifically looking at mediawiki's code to try to help me understand, but these cases should be fairly common in all php apps. From what I gather, the main cases are: A user just logged in or was created, every time they visit the page PHP knows its them by checking data common to the $_SESSION variable and the cookie. A user had the 'remember me' option checked on the login page a long time ago. They have a cookie on there computer with a tokenID, which is checked with a token on the server to authenticate them. In this case, there is no session variable, because the time between accesses could be weeks. My question is, what happens when a user is logged in, but the PHP session times out and he wants to access a page? I would have assumed that there is no easy way for the server to know who the person is - and that they would have to be redirected to the login page. However, mediawiki does just that. I've verified that the session files are deleted after X minutes, but when I hit refresh in mediawiki, it knows which user I am, and the 'token' variable is not included in the cookie.

How can I change the CSS visibility style for elements that are not on the screen?

I have a lot of data being placed into a <DIV> with the overflow: auto style. Firefox handles this gracefully but IE becomes very sluggish both when scrolling the div and when executing any Javascript on the page. At first I thought IE just couldn't handle that much data in its DOM, but then I did a simple test where I applied the visibility: hidden style to every element past the first 100. They still take up space and cause the scrollbars to appear. IE no longer had a problem with the data when I did this. So, I'd like to have a "smart" div that hides all the nested div elements which are not currently visible on the screen. Is there a simple solution to this or will I need to have an infinite loop which calculates the location of the scrollbar? If not, is there a particular event that I can hook into where I could do this? Is there a jQuery selector or plugin that will allow me to select all elements not currently visible on the screen?

I have a login on the left sidebar of my website. When a user is logged in, the sidebar width doesn't remain the same as it was when the user wasn't logged in. Nested ListBox in DataGrid? Inherit style?

I have a DataGrid with multiple columns. The data grid has a style that changes the forecolor of text on a row where the mouse is over or the row has been selected. So the text color will change from black to white, for example. In one of the columns in the data grid, I have a ListBox. Is it possible for the items in the list box to have the foreground change to that of the data grid row, when you do mouse over or select the data grid row? I don't want to have a style for the list box that is specific to mouse over for the list items, I just want the foreground of the list items to change automatically to the forground of the data grid row when the mouse is over the row or selected the row. So even if the user moves their mouse over a different column (that doesn't contain the listbox) - I would want the foreground for the listbox to change. How can I go about doing this? How do I use IIS6 style metabase paths in IIS7 AppCmd tool?

I'm currently in the process of upgrading old II6 automation scripts that use the IISVdir tool to create/modify/update apps and virtual directories, and replacing them with AppCmd for IIS7. The IIS6, "IISVDir" commands reference paths in that are from the metabase, eg, "/W3SVC/1/ROOT/MyApp" - where 1 is ID of the "Default Web Site" site. The command doesn't actually require the display name of the site to make changes to it. This works well, since on a different language OS, the "Default Web Site" site name could be named, for example, "??? Web ???" or anything else for that matter. But this flexibility is lost if AppCmd can only reference "Default Web Site" via its name, and not a language-neutral identifier. So, how can I script AppCmd to refer to sites, vdirs and apps using language neutral identifiers to reference the "Default App Site"? Perhaps I need to start creating my own site instead, from the start, and name it something else specific, and stop using "Default Web Site" as the root? (Disclosure: I only have a IIS7-English machine that I am working on currently, but I have both IIS6-English and IIS6-Japanese machines for testing my old scripts - so perhaps it really is just "Default Web Site" still on Win2k8-Japanese?)

An html input box isn't being displayed, Firebug says it has style="display: none" but I haven't don

This results in the text box not displaying.

Struts2 jQuery Plugin Autocompleter renders HTML with style attributes <== changing this?

I'm using the Struts2 jQuery plugin 2.1 and render an autocompleter in my JSP. Putting in the following attribute has no effect: cssStyle="width:115px!important;" What can I do?

How to style "form" field labels in Windows Phone 7?

Is there any standards guidance on how to style field labels next to form fields in windows phone 7 silverlight applications? For example, let's say I have a StackPanel with the TextBlock label and a TextBox for data entry. Currently I am using the default TextBlock Margin included in the PhoneTextSubtleStyle ("12,0,12,0"), and using a Margin of "0,-12,0,0" to push the TextBox up closer to the label: <StackPanel HorizontalAlignment="Left"> <TextBlock VerticalAlignment="Center" Text="Name" Style="{StaticResource PhoneTextSubtleStyle}" /> <TextBox Text="{Binding ItemName, Mode=TwoWay}" TextChanged="TextBox_TextChanged" VerticalAlignment="Center" Width="433" Margin="0,-12,0,0" /> </StackPanel> Note that the TextBox seems to have some internal padding of 12 pixels to the left and right, so that the TextBlock label and the TextBox control visually line up perfectly on the left. The problem is, I see existing apps with widely varying conventions for field label styling. Some do not do the negative margin adjustment, like I have above. Some don't. Some appear to override the label TextBlock Margin so that it is indented an additional 12 pixels on the left (i.e. "24,0,12,0" instead of the default "12,0,12,0"). Some apps put the labels to the left of the fields themselves (I hate that). Is there some standard design guidance on field labels in Windows Phone 7? I read through the design template PDF and could only determine that the field labels should be upper case on the first word (preferably only one word labels), and should NOT have a colon at the end. I didn't see anything with regards to margins or alignment between the label and the field.

Firefox doesn't display text on webpage.

hello, I was successful in displaying text on webpage but in firefox, it does not display the text at all. If i see the page source, it has text in there. but why doesn't it display? In Chrome and IE, it works fine. Edit: When i used firebug, it looks like the content is behind the screen. I just guess. HTML/CSS formating

I'm having to issues lining up items properly in my html code. I am not sure why they are lining up the way I want them to. First the header My Color Library is a full line height above the horizontal ruler. I want it right above the ruler. Second my X box in the td with the background is justified right fine but I actually want it in the top right hand corner not centered vertically. Losing jQuery functionality after postback

I have seen a TON of people reporting this issue online, but no actual solutions. I'm not using AJAX or updatepanels, just a dropdown that posts back on selected index change. No errors, nothing. I don't see any actual changes in the objects in the HTML that should cause this. How do I fix this? Any workarounds or bandaides I can apply? I would like to write a JavaScript snippet that populates the table based on the selection, and not create several details panes and toggle their visibility. JQuery Dynamic Element - In DOM but unable to bind

Hi All, I'm new to using JQuery so bear with me. I had implmented some code based on a js file that I found online which enables a series of div tags within a nested structure on my page to step through and show each one individually on the page. This all works great when I define the div tags as static entries in the masterpage. I should add that this is being implemented in a SharePoint master page. Ultimately though, with a static collection of div tags ideally containing an image with some descriptive text, and a hyperlink its not very flexible. Roll on my changes to make this a little more configurable. I have implemented some additional code that will read from a SharePoint list via an ajax call to the lists web service. For each entry in the list I am building a div tag that contains the information required dynamically. For testing, I am only pulling the title through at present. I have used the following code: $('#beltDiv').append(divHTML) to append the divs in the loop that are created to my nested structure on the page. I figured that this would cause the fade code to work as expected but I was wrong. It doesn't do anything at all. When check the source on the page, the div tags are not shown. They are however available in the DOM model when viewed through the IE developer toolbar. The issue (I think) looks to be that the initiation of the featureFade code is not working due to the div tags being unavailable. Is there a way to address this? Animated background image in a hidden <div> doesn't load or loads not animated

Hello, I have spent the whole day trying to make a script which on "submit" hides the form and shows hidden with animated progress bar. The problem is that Internet Explorer doesn't show animated gif images in hidden divs. The images are static. I visited many websites and found a script which uses: document.getElementById(id).style.backgroundImage = 'url(/images/load.gif)'; Finally, my script works in Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera but... Google Chrome doesn't display the image at all. I see only div text. After many tests I discovered the following: the only way to see the background image in Google Chrome is to include the same image somewhere in the page (outside of hidden div) with 1px dimensions: <img src="/images/load.gif" width="1" heigh="1" /> This did the trick but... after this dirty solution Microsoft Explorer for some reason shows the image as static again. So, my question is: is there any way how to force Gogle Chrome to show the image? Thanks. By default, 3 blocks(Content 0,Content 1,Content 2) are coming. When is clicked then (Content 1,Content 2,Content 3) will come. For this, I hide content 0 block. But layout will disturb on << click. I know this is wrong way. I should set left position instead of hiding content but it is empty I tried to set left position but no luck. Let me know How the block can be moved one by one using javascript and what is the best approach to do this?

I actually need to apply to this <div class="grid-2 equal" style="height: 999px;"> div. Now the issue is that in this <div class="grid-6 push-3 equal" style="height: 999px;"> and class="grid-2 equal" style="height: 999px;"> the class names grid-6 and grid-2 are generated dynamically by my PHP of 960 Grid System and also the style="height: 999px; is generated by a jQuery script for Equal-Columns. What I want is to add a unique class name like this...... Look for a div with a class of .equal which has a child div with a class of .block and which further has a child div with an ID of sidebar-a.
