  • Change directory upwards to specified goal

    - by haakon
    I'm often deep inside a directory tree, moving upwards and downwards to perform various tasks. Is there anything more efficient than going 'cd ../../../..'? I was thinking something along the lines of this: If I'm in /foo/bar/baz/qux/quux/corge/grault and want to go to /foo/bar/baz, I want to do something like 'cdto baz'. I can write some bash script for this, but I'd first like to know if it already exists in some form.

  • Can I include the path and query string in an IIS "Error Pages" redirect?

    - by Dylan Beattie
    I'm setting up a custom 403.4 handler so that non-SSL requests to my site are redirected to a different URL - and what I'd like to do is to include the script path and query string in the redirect, so that a user who requests http://www.site.com/foo?bar=1 will be redirected to https://www.site.com/foo?bar=1 I know something similar is possible when configuring a top-level site redirect, using the $S, $Q, %v tokens referred to in this IIS reference page - but this syntax doesn't seem to work when configuring a custom error redirect.

  • Requisite of file.append

    - by Jeff Strunk
    Is it possible to make salt require that a particular file was appended to as opposed to the file merely existing? It seems like I can only require a file state. The source looks like it strips out any method names from a require attribute. In the example below, I only want the foo service to run if my lines have been appended to /etc/security/limits.conf. file.append: - name: /etc/security/limits.conf - text: - root hard nofile 65535 - root soft nofile 65535 foo: service.running: - enable: True - require: - file.append: /etc/security/limits.conf

  • Is it possible to combine a list of torrents into one torrent with many files, keeping the seeds?

    - by Zequez
    Let's say you have all the episodes of FOO series that you downloaded as they were out, so you have like 20 torrents. Now let's say you want to make a bundle torrent with all the files, call it "FOO Season 1", and then send it to someone. One way would be to create a new torrent with all the episodes, but you would lose all the seeds from the current torrents, and you also couldn't seed people that want to download single episodes. Is this possible with the BitTorrent protocol?

  • How to remove AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1

    - by Veejay
    I have a url like http://www.foo.com/Show.aspx?pageid=10. However to some users this gets displayed as http://://www.foo.com/Show.aspx?pageid=10&AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1 Now i read that the AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1 gets appended as in my web.config since I have my web.config as <sessionState cookieless="AutoDetect"/> whereas it should be <sessionState cookieless="UseCookies"/> What I wanted to know is that is there an issue doing this change. Is there any other way to just have the url show up as http://www.foo.com/Show.aspx?pageid=10

  • How do I use SharpSVN to programatically "add to ignore list" for a folder.

    - by Myster
    How do I use SharpSVN to programatically to add a folder to the ignore list? EDIT: Attempted: Here's what I've tried svnClient.GetProperty(new SvnUriTarget("svn://svn.foo.com/" + DatabaseName + "/"), SvnPropertyNames.SvnIgnore, out ignores); ignores += " Artifacts"; var args = new SvnSetPropertyArgs() { BaseRevision = ???, LogMessage = "update ignore list" }; svnClient.SetProperty(new Uri("svn://svn.foo.com/" + DatabaseName + "/"), SvnPropertyNames.SvnIgnore, ignores, args); But I don't know how to get the BaseRevision (I can get it manually, and that works, but all the combinations of GetProperty I tried don't seem to give it to me.) SOLUTION: Based on Bert's Answer SvnGetPropertyArgs getArgs = new SvnGetPropertyArgs(){}; string ignores = "Artifacts"; string result; if(svnClient.GetProperty(new SvnUriTarget("svn://svn.foo.com/" + ProjectName + "/trunk/"), SvnPropertyNames.SvnIgnore,out result)) { ignores = result + " Artifacts"; //TODO: check for existing & tidy formatting. } svnClient.SetProperty(UncPath.TrimEnd('\\'), SvnPropertyNames.SvnIgnore, ignores); SvnCommit(svnClient);

  • Serving static content with jetty 7, using defaultservlet configured from web.xml

    - by Chilly
    Hi All, This is jetty 7 and xml configured, not embedded. I'm trying to serve a static file, crossdomain.xml, to an app that connects to a datasource I run from jetty. To do this, I configured a servlet and its mapping thus: default org.eclipse.jetty.servlet.DefaultServlet resourceBase /moo/somedirectory default /* Sadly all I get are 404's. • Bash alias and bash function with several arguments

    - by sanemat
    I want to use both bash alias and bash function with several arguments. I emulate svn sub commands. $ svngrep -nr 'Foo' . $ svn grep -nr 'Foo' . My expectation is both act as below: grep --exclude='*.svn-*' --exclude='entries' -nr 'Foo' . But actual, only alias ('svngrep') does well, function ('svn grep') causes invalid option error. How to write my .bashrc? #~/.bashrc alias svngrep="grep --exclude='*.svn-*' --exclude='entries'" svn() { if [[ $1 == grep ]] then local remains=$(echo $@ | sed -e 's/grep//') command "$svngrep $remains" else command svn "$@" fi }

  • idioms for returning multiple values in shell scripting

    - by Wang
    Are there any idioms for returning multiple values from a bash function within a script? http://tldp.org/LDP/abs/html/assortedtips.html describes how to echo multiple values and process the results (e.g., example 35-17), but that gets tricky if some of the returned values are strings with spaces in. A more structured way to return would be to assign to global variables, like foo () { FOO_RV1="bob" FOO_RV2="bill" } foo echo "foo returned ${FOO_RV1} and ${FOO_RV2}" I realize that if I need re-entrancy in a shell script I'm probably doing it wrong, but I still feel very uncomfortable throwing global variables around just to hold return values. Is there a better way? I would prefer portability, but it's probably not a real limitation if I have to specify #!/bin/bash.

  • Nullable One To One Relationships with Integer Keys in LINQ-to-SQL

    - by Craig Walker
    I have two objects (Foo and Bar) that have a one-to-zero-or-one relationship between them. So, Foo has a nullable foreign key reference to Bar.ID and a (nullbusted) unique index to enforce the "1" side. Bar.ID is an int, and so Foo.BarID is a nullable int. The problem occurs in the LINQ-to-SQL DBML mapping of .NET types to SQL datatypes. Since int is not a nullable type in .NET, it gets wrapped in a Nullable<int>. However, this is not the same type as int, and so Visual Studio gives me this error message when I try to create the OneToOne Association between them: Cannot create an association "Bar_Foo". Properties do not have matching types: "ID", "BarID". Is there a way around this?

  • How to list all (groovy) classes in JVM in groovy

    - by Dan
    I am writing a DelegatingMetaClass that I would like to apply to all groovy classes in my project, but I do not how to get hold of all classes in the project? Here is the code: /* This will work ok, since I know Foo beforehand, but what about classes that do not exist yet? */ def myMetaClass = new DelegatingMetaClass(Foo.class) InvokerHelper.metaRegistry.setMetaClass(Foo.class, myMetaClass) /* how to do this? allGroovyClasses.each{ def myMetaClass = new DelegatingMetaClass(it) InvokerHelper.metaRegistry.setMetaClass(it, myMetaClass) } */ class SimpleInterceptor extends DelegatingMetaClass{ public SimpleInterceptor(final Class aclass) { super(aclass); initialize(); } public Object getProperty(Object object, String prop) { println ("I am in a property interceptor!!!") return super.getProperty(object, prop) } public Object invokeMethod(Object a_object, String a_methodName, Object[] a_arguments) { println ("I am in a method interceptor!!!") return super.invokeMethod(a_object, a_methodName, a_arguments) }

  • Updating fields of values in a ConcurrentDictionary

    - by rboarman
    I am trying to update entries in a ConcurrentDictionary something like this: class Class1 { public int Counter { get; set; } } class Test { private ConcurrentDictionary<int, Class1> dict = new ConcurrentDictionary<int, Class1>(); public void TestIt() { foreach (var foo in dict) { foo.Value.Counter = foo.Value.Counter + 1; // Simplified example } } } Essentially I need to iterate over the dictionary and update a field on each Value. I understand from the documentation that I need to avoid using the Value property. Instead I think I need to use TryUpdate except that I don’t want to replace my whole object. Instead, I want to update a field on the object. After reading this blog entry on the PFX team blog: Perhaps I need to use AddOrUpdate and simply do nothing in the add delegate. Does anyone have any insight as to how to do this?

  • C++ Preprocessor string literal concatenation

    - by ezpz
    I found this regarding how the C preprocessor should handle string literal concatenation (phase 6). However, I can not find anything regarding how this is handled in C++ (does C++ use the C preprocessor?). The reason I ask is that I have the following: const char * Foo::encoding = "\0" "1234567890\0abcdefg"; where encoding is a static member of class Foo. Without the availability of concatenation I wouldnt be able to write that sequence of characters like that. const char * Foo::encoding = "\01234567890\0abcdefg"; Is something entirely different due to the way \012 is interpreted. I dont have access to multiple platforms and I'm curious how confident I should be that the above is always handled correctly - i.e. I will always get { 0, '1', '2', '3', ... }

  • LINQ list of sublist

    I'm trying to get all the sublists that don't inherit from a specified class and also get the parent/root list type. I can't quite figure out the syntax. Here's an example of the sort of thing I'm looking for. Thanks for any help you can give! public class Foo { public IList<Type> Bar { get; private set; } } List<Foo> test = new List<Foo>(); // Initialize, add values, etc. var result = from f in test from b in f.Bar where !b.IsSubclassOf(typeof(AnotherClass)) select f.GetType(), b

  • Remove redundant CSS rules

    - by ken
    I have several CSS files all being used in a large application; most are legacy, with one "main" css file that is the most current. This setup came about after a rebranding, and instead of redoing all of the CSS, we simply added a new CSS file that would override the rules from the legacy files. So now, I'd like to distill all of this CSS (1000's of lines) into 1 file. NOTE: I don't want to simply combine the files (as in copy/pasting them all into 1 file); I need an application to semi-intelligently look at the rules, reduce them down to only the effective rules (after inheritance), but I can't find anything like that. Example; given: /* legacy.css */ .foo { color: red; margin: 5px; } ..and: /* current.css */ .foo { margin: 10px; } I need a tool to output: /* result.css */ .foo { color: red; margin: 10px; } Does such an application exist?

  • using objc_msgSend to call a Objective C function with named arguments

    - by Markus Pilman
    Hi all, I want to add scripting support for an Objective-C project using the objc runtime. Now I face the problem, that I don't have a clue, how I should call an Objective-C method which takes several named arguments. So for example the following objective-c call [object foo:bar]; could be called from C with: objc_msgSend(object, sel_getUid("foo:"), bar); But how would I do something similar for the method call: [object foo:var bar:var2 err:errVar]; ?? • C# .NET: Ascending comparison of a SortedDictionary?

    - by Rosarch
    I'm want a IDictionary<float, foo> that returns the larges values of the key first. private IDictionary<float, foo> layers = new SortedDictionary<float, foo>(new AscendingComparer<float>()); class AscendingComparer<T> : IComparer<T> where T : IComparable<T> { public int Compare(T x, T y) { return -y.CompareTo(x); } } However, this returns values in order of the smallest first. I feel like I'm making a stupid mistake here. Just to see what would happen, I removed the - sign from the comparator: public int Compare(T x, T y) { return y.CompareTo(x); } But I got the same result. This reinforces my intuition that I'm making a stupid error.

  • Does jQuery ajaxSetup method not work with $.get or $.post?

    - by Justin Poliey
    Does the jQuery $.ajaxSetup method not respect the data field in the options hash when $.post or $.get is called? For example, I might have this code: $.ajaxSetup({ data: { persist: true } }); Then, to send a POST request, I would call this: $.post("/create/something", { name: "foo" }); I was expecting the actual POST data to look like this: { persist: true, name: "foo" } but the only data sent by $.post is { name: "foo" }. Is there any way to get the expected behavior? I'm using jQuery 1.4.1.

  • Variables versus constants versus associative arrays in PHP

    - by susmits
    I'm working on a small project, and need to implement internationalization support somehow. I am thinking along the lines of using constants to define a lot of symbols for text in one file, which could be included subsequently. However, I'm not sure if using variables is faster, or if I can get away with using associative arrays without too much of a performance hit. What's better for defining constant values in PHP, performance-wise -- constants defined using define("FOO", "..."), or simple variables like $foo = "...", or associative arrays like $symbols["FOO"]?

  • ReadOnlyCollection or IEnumerable for exposing member collections?

    - by Erik Öjebo
    Is there any reason to expose an internal collection as a ReadOnlyCollection rather than an IEnumerable if the calling code only iterates over the collection? class Bar { private ICollection<Foo> foos; // Which one is to be preferred? public IEnumerable<Foo> Foos { ... } public ReadOnlyCollection<Foo> Foos { ... } } // Calling code: foreach (var f in bar.Foos) DoSomething(f); As I see it IEnumerable is a subset of the interface of ReadOnlyCollection and it does not allow the user to modify the collection. So if the IEnumberable interface is enough then that is the one to use. Is that a proper way of reasoning about it or am I missing something? Thanks /Erik

  • How to share cookies across multiple Apache Virtual Hosts

    - by puk
    This question is generally phrased as "How to share cookies across multiple subdomains" and the answer is generally to use the leading dot like so setcookie( 'id', 0, time()+30*3600, '/', '.example.com' ); which means that the cookie is available to all subdomains of example.com. However, the / path I suspect adds the constraint that all subdomains must be physically under the same tree. The PHP documentation states path The path on the server in which the cookie will be available on. If set to '/', the cookie will be available within the entire domain. If set to '/foo/', the cookie will only be available within the /foo/ directory and all sub-directories such as /foo/bar/ of domain. The default value is the current directory that the cookie is being set in. Is it possible to share cookies if one has two (Apache) Virtual Hosts set up with document roots at, for example www.one.example.com ? /var/www/example1 www.two.example.com ? /var/www/example2

  • Calling CONTENT_SCRIPT JS From BROWSER_ACTION Popup HTML

    - by Aristotle
    I'm working on a Google Chrome Extension and would like to get an HTML from within my popup HTML to call functions within my loaded javascript file. My manifest follows: { "name": "Extension", "version": "1.0", "description": "Extension", "browser_action": { "default_icon": "icon.png", "default_title": "Ext", "popup": "popup.html" }, "content_scripts": [{ "matches": ["http://*/*"], "css": ["ext.css"], "js": ["jquery.js","scripts.js"] }], "permissions": [ "http://*/*" ] } As you can see I'm loading in a local copy of jQuery, along with another javascript file for my own personal logic. My popup document looks like this: <select id="values"> <option>Foo</option> <option>Bar</option> </select> And the contents of my scripts.js file follow: $(function(){ $("#values").change(function(){ alert("Foo"); }); }); This isn't doing what I expect though - alerting "Foo" anytime I change a value in my popup HTML. How can I get these two files to communicate with eachother? Or can they at all?
