  • Using complex data types from Java in Axis webservice

    I am currently developing a Java app which handles a SOAP webservice. The problem lies after I parse the WSDL [the Parser object from Apache Axis does it for me], and I create the call. When I try to invoke it, I have to pass a Object[] to assign the parameters [taken from the Action of the WSDL]. A normal action is easy, but when I have custom datatypes, I can't get it to fill it out for me. I try to pass Object[]{ new Object { }}, but it assigns the first field instead. I can't pass it already processed, because it changes the '< ' to '--lt --gt', and the server doesn't recognize it'.   • Catching an exception when trying to launch a URL service from within Safari on an iPhone

    Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone knows - if I have an iPhone app that is registered with a URL service (e.g. alocola://), which means another app can invoke it by calling its URL - is there any way to embed this URL in an HTML page, and catch the exception if the app is not installed on the user's iPhone? Or in other words / more details: I would like to write an app that conforms to some URL invocation (like alocola:// is doing), but would like this app to be launched from a web page read by mobile Safari. However, if the app is not installed on the user's iphone, I would like to be able to display a note saying "you must have the alocola app installed on your iPhone, please download it from the app store by clicking here". Is there a way (perhaps using javascript) to have Safari indicate that the URL cannot be invoked, and catch this in order to display an intelligent message? Thanks :-) Ariel

  • API Wrapper Architecture Best Practice

    Hi, So I'm writing a Perl wrapper module around a REST webservice and I'm hoping to have some advice on how best to architect the module. I've been looking at a couple of different Perl modules for inspiration. Flickr::Simple2 - so this is basically one big file with methods wrapping around the different methods in the Flickr API, e.g. getPhotos() etc. Flickr::API - this is a sub-class of another module (LWP) for making HTTP requests. So basically it just allows you to make calls through the module, using LWP, that go to the correct API method/URL without defining any wrapper methods itself. (That's explained pretty poorly - but basically it has a method that takes an argument (a API method name) and constructs the correct API call). e.g request() / response(). An alternative design would be like the first described, but less monolithic, with separate classes for separate "areas" of the API. I'd like to follow modern/best practice Perl methods so I'm using Dist::Zilla to build the module and Moose for the OO stuff but I'd appreciate some input on how to actually design/architect my wrapper. Guides/tutorials or pointers to other well designed modules would be appreciated. Cheers

So far the backups looks consistent. But I am afraid they "will stop being consistent as soon as I stop checking" (Uncertainty principle). The Data class , contains fileds with many types : int , string , double , Person object and array of Person object. I created the J2ME client code through the wizard and every thing seems ok . I see in the Netbeans project the service and the stub . When I try to call my web service method , say Data GetData() ; Then I have a problem with parsing the returned data from the web service and the client data object .     We have deployed a java webapplication in Elastic Beanstalk with the minimum instance count 1 and max instance count 2 for Autoscaling. The custom AMI we are using is c1.medium with Sun JDK 6. The environment status changed to yellow and then red. After checking into the log file from the snapshot logs we found a exception - Caused by: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space. Assuming this could be one of the possible reason for the Environment failure. The settings that we have configured in the Environment Container option are Initial JVM Heap Size (MB) - 256M Maximum JVM Heap Size (MB) - 512m The maximum heap size the java virtual machine will ever consume, specified on the JVM launch command line using -Xmx. Maximum JVM Permanent Generation Size (MB) - 512m Should i increase the Heap size from 512m to more or is it fine.

    We are calling a .NET web service from our oracle database using the sys.utl_http package. We have also tested with the sys.utl_dbws package. This works fine when there is no security on the .NET web service. However, we would like to use sys.utl_http or sys.utl_dbws to call a .NET web service with Kerberos or NTLM authentication. We're currently struggling with this. Any hints on how to solve it?

  • JAX-WS and JPA, how to load stub objects using JPA?

    I'm trying to develope a soap web service that has to access a mysql db. I have to replicate an existing service, so I created all the stub object from it's wsdl file Netbeans created all the necessary stuff for me (new, web service from wsdl), it works ok... Now I'm trying to use JPA to load all those objects from the database. So far I was going fine, I created the classes using (new, entity class from database), and then copied all the annotations to the classes generated by wsimport, and it was working fine. The problem is that netbeans insists on running wsimport again, and then I loose all my annotations... Is there some way to tell netbeans not to regenerate those files? I think this situation shoulb be pretty common, I mean developing a web service from a wsdl and then having to fill those objects with data using JPA. what would be the correct aproach to this kind of situation? thanks a lot saludos sas I've also tried inheriting from the stubs, and addign there the persistence annotations, but I had troubles with overlaping members, I'm redeclaring protected properties...

  • How can I disable keep-alive on ASP.NET Web Service client requests?

    I have a few web servers behind an Amazon EC2 load balancer. I'm using TCP balancing on port 80 (rather than HTTP balancing). I have a client polling a Web Service (running on all web servers) for new items every few seconds. However, the client seems to stay connected to one server and polls that same server each time. I've tried using ServicePointManager to disable KeepAlive, but that didn't change anything. The outgoing connection still had its "connection: keep-alive" HTTP header, and the server kept the TCP connection open. I've also tried adding an override of GetWebRequest to the proxy class created by VS, which inherits from SoapHttpClientProtocol, but I still see the keep-alive header. If I kill the client's process and restart, it'll connect to a new server via the load balancer, but it'll continue polling that new server forever. Is there a way to force it to connect to a random server each time? I want the load from the one client to be spread across all of the web servers. The client is written in C# (as is the server) and uses a Web Reference (not a Service Reference), which points to the load balancer.

    Hi all, I have a simple axis 1.4 web service which I deployed successfully and can invoke it from main method of a Java class. This works fine but when I try to invoke it from a web application it throws an exception saying 'Class not found' for the class 'ws/impl/AwardWebServiceSoapBindingStub'.   • Web service request ignores basic WSDL XML element restrictions

    Hi all, I have encountered some difficulties while trying to validate an incoming soap message to a service I have running on JBoss AS (v. 5.1.0). In my code, I have explicitly set some fields to be required, eg: public class MyClass { @XmlElement(required=true, nillable=false) private List<myOtherObjects> myList; } This requirement is also reflected in the WSDL (note the lack of minOccurs="0"): <xs:element maxOccurs="unbounded" name="myList" type="tns:myOtherObjects" /> However, when I do a test soap message that has myList set to empty or null, these restrictions are completely ignored, forcing me to validate manually within the application logic on the service. I did some searching on the Internet and found out that, on WebLogic, the validation does not seem to be enabled by default, though it can be turned on by modifying the weblogic-webservices.xml file. (http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=783972&tstart=115) I’m wondering if there is something similar that I have to do with JBoss AS to enable automatic validation before the soap message reaches the service.   • Correct use of WSDL-generated sources

    How can I easily convert between manually written classes and WSDL-generated equivalents? I have a Java SE 6 thick client that calls a web service to get and store data. The client has a DAO that works with my entity classes, calls <Entity.toDto() to convert them to DTOs, and sends/receives that data with the web service. My issue stems from the fact that the entity classes live on both sides of the service interface: client and server. Each entity has a constructor from the DTO and a toDto function: public class EntityClass { public EntityClass(EntityClassDto dto); public EntityClassDto toDto(); ... } This means I have a handwritten DTO class that the client and server both use. However, the service interface expects the WSDL-generated classes. I have tried writing conversion code between the hand-written DTO and the WSDL-generated DTO and it is tedious and error-prone. What is a reasonable alternative to this? Some back-story: The thick client should be able to have a configurable backend: either direct to the DB or through this web service. The aforementioned DAO is the web service based implementation and another imlpementation that is JPA-based exists.

  • Retry web service call if authentication failure requires re-login

    I'm consuming a web service from C#, and the web service requires a login call and then uses cookie sessions. The web service will time out sessions after a certain timeframe, after which the client will have to re-login. I'd like to find a way to automatically catch the soap fault the service sends back in this scenario, and handle it by re-logging in and then retrying the previously attempted call. I would prefer to do this somehow automatically for all the web service methods in question, rather than having to manually wrap the calls with the retry logic. Suggestions?

  • Strategies for Accessing a Application with a COM API From PHP

    Background: Experienced PHP developer with a mostly *nix background. I'm writing a PHP application that needs to interact with a proprietary 3rd party system. The 3rd party system is Windows only. The PHP application will be living on a separate Linux based system The 3rd party application has been described as having a "COM API" that I'll need to talk to from the PHP application. What does this look like architecturally speaking? I'm starting with the COM section of the PHP manual, but I have specific questions. Specific Questions: Can I talk directly to a COM API from a PHP application running on another server? If so, how? (what PHP extensions would I need, or what protocols/PHP functions would I be using to talk to the API) If the answer to number 2 is no, I'd assume I'd need some kind of application on the Windows machine that can talk to COM, and then a service on the windows machine I can hit with PHP. Are there prebuilt frameworks for this kind of thing? Is this all nonsense and/or did I say something exceedingly stupid? (Quite possible, as I'm a little fuzzy on what "COM" does and doesn't cover) I'm obviously not looking for a full solution here, I'm just trying to get a general idea of what is and isn't possible and what kind of things I'll want to Google for.
