  • IComparable not included when serializing in WCF

    - by djerry
    Hey guys, I have a list i'm filling at server side. It's a list of "User", which implements IComparable. Now when WCF is serializing the data, i guess it's not including the CompareTo method. This is my Object class : [DataContract] public class User : IComparable { private string e164, cn, h323; private int id; private DateTime lastActive; [DataMember] public DateTime LastActive { get { return lastActive; } set { laatstActief = value; } } [DataMember] public int Id { get { return id; } set { id = value; } } [DataMember] public string H323 { get { return h323; } set { h323 = value; } } [DataMember] public string Cn { get { return cn; } set { cn = value; } } [DataMember] public string E164 { get { return e164; } set { e164 = value; } } public User() { } public User(string e164, string cn, string h323, DateTime lastActive) { this.E164 = e164; this.Cn = cn; this.H323 = h323; this.LastActive= lastActive; } [DataMember] public string ToStringExtra { get { if (h323 != "/" && h323 != "") return h323 + " (" + e164 + ")"; return e164; } set { ;} } public override string ToString() { if (Cn.Equals("Trunk Line") || Cn.Equals("")) if (h323.Equals("")) return E164; else return h323; return Cn; } public int CompareTo(object obj) { User user = (User)obj; return user.LastActive.CompareTo(this.LastActive); } } Is it possible to get the CompareTo method to reach the client? Putting [DataMember] isn't the solution as i tried it ( i know...). Thanks in advance.

  • [C#] How to use delegate to perform callback between caller and web service helper class?

    - by codemonkie
    I have 2 classes A and B, where they belongs to the same namespace but resides in seperate files namely a.cs and b.cs, where class B essentially is a helper wrapping a web service call as follow: public class A { public A() // constructor { protected static B b = new B(); } private void processResult1(string result) { // come here when result is successful } private void processResult2(string result) { // come here when result is failed } static void main() { b.DoJobHelper(...); } } public class B { private com.nowhere.somewebservice ws; public B() { this.ws = new com.nowhere.somewebservice(); ws.JobCompleted += new JobCompletedEventHandler(OnCompleted); } void OnCompleted(object sender, JobCompletedEventArgs e) { string s; Guid taskID = (Guid)e.UserState; switch (s) { case "Success": // Call processResult1(); break; case "Failed": // Call processResult2(); break; default: break; } } public void DoJobHelper() { Object userState = Guid.NewGuid(); ws.DoJob(..., userState); } } (1) I have seen texts on the net on using delegates for callbacks but failed to apply that to my case. All I want to do is to call the appropriate processResult() method upon OnCompleted() event, but dunno how to and where to declare the delegate: public delegate void CallBack(string s); (2) There is a sender object passed in to OnCompleted() but never used, did I miss anything there? Or how can I make good use of sender? Any helps appreciated.

  • How can we call an activity through service in android???

    - by Shalini Singh
    Hi! friends, i am a android developer,,, want to know is it possible to call an activity through background service in android like : import android.app.Service; import android.content.Intent; import android.content.SharedPreferences; import android.media.MediaPlayer; import android.os.Handler; import android.os.IBinder; import android.os.Message; public class background extends Service{ private int timer1; @Override public void onCreate() { // TODO Auto-generated method stub super.onCreate(); SharedPreferences preferences = getSharedPreferences("SaveTime", MODE_PRIVATE); timer1 = preferences.getInt("time", 0); startservice(); } @Override public IBinder onBind(Intent arg0) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub return null; } private void startservice() { Handler handler = new Handler(); handler.postDelayed(new Runnable(){ public void run() { mediaPlayerPlay.sendEmptyMessage(0); } }, timer1*60*1000); } private Handler mediaPlayerPlay = new Handler(){ @Override public void handleMessage(Message msg) { try { getApplication(); MediaPlayer mp = new MediaPlayer(); mp = MediaPlayer.create(background.this, R.raw.alarm); mp.start(); } catch(Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } super.handleMessage(msg); } }; /* * (non-Javadoc) * * @see android.app.Service#onDestroy() */ @Override public void onDestroy() { // TODO Auto-generated method stub super.onDestroy(); } } i want to call my activity......

  • How to generate a key for a group entity?

    - by user246114
    Hi, I'm trying to make a group entity. Something like: class User { } class UserColor { } ... Key key = new KeyFactory.Builder( User.class.getSimpleName(), username). .addChild(UserColor.class.getSimpleName(), ???).getKey(); I know the unique username up-front to use for the key of the User object. But I just want app engine to generate a random unique value for the key value of the UserColor instance. I think this is described here, but I don't understand their wording: http://code.google.com/appengine/docs/java/datastore/transactions.html To create an object with a system-generated numeric ID and an entity group parent, you must use an entity group parent key field (such as customerKey, above). Assign the key of the parent to the parent key field, then leave the object's key field set to null. When the object is saved, the datastore populates the key field with the complete key, including the entity group parent. and this is their example: @Persistent @Extension(vendorName="datanucleus", key="gae.parent-pk", value="true") private Key customerKey; but I don't understand - should UserColor look like this then?: class UserColor { @Persistent @Extension(vendorName="datanucleus", key="gae.parent-pk", value="true") private Key mKeyParent; @Primary private Key mKey; // leave null } ... Key keyParent = new KeyFactory.Builder( User.class.getSimpleName(), username); UserColor uc = new UserColor(); uc.setKeyParent(keyParent); pm.makePersistent(uc); // now generated for me automatically? is that correct? Using this method, I should be able to use a User and a UserColor object in a transaction together, right? Thanks

  • What am i doing wrong

    - by Erik Sapir
    I have the following code. I need B class to have a min priority queue of AToTime objects. AToTime have operator, and yet i receive error telling me than there is no operator matching the operands... #include <queue> #include <functional> using namespace std; class B{ //public functions public: B(); virtual ~B(); //private members private: log4cxx::LoggerPtr m_logger; class AToTime { //public functions public: AToTime(const ACE_Time_Value& time, const APtr a) : m_time(time), m_a(a){} bool operator >(const AToTime& other) { return m_time > other.m_time; } //public members - no point using any private members here public: ACE_Time_Value m_time; APtr m_a; }; priority_queue<AToTime, vector<AToTime>, greater<AToTime> > m_myMinHeap; };

  • Having vCam on custom classes instead of the root class.

    - by Hwang
    Maybe some of you guys know bout vCam from http://bryanheisey.com/blog/?page_id=22 I'm trying to have the script running on a custom classes instead of a MovieClip in the library. But after some trying I fail so I stick back to having the MC in the library and load the MC from the project root action-script files. Now it works fine if I run the MC on the root as files, but for more organizing purposes on my action-script files, I was thinking of calling it from a custom classes(where I can control the vCam), then call the custom classes from the root action-script files. But seems like it won't work other than the root action-script files. I'm not sure whether I'm missing any codes between the two custom classes, or its not coded to run that way. If it's not, then its fine too just that I want the things more organize. Or if you have any idea how to 'by-pass' this, please do tell me so. In case you need my code for the 2 classes, here it is: package { import flash.display.MovieClip; import classes.vCamera; public class main extends MovieClip { private var vC2:vCamera = new vCamera(); public function main():void { addChild(vC2) } } } package classes{ import flash.display.MovieClip; import flash.display.Stage; import flash.events.Event; public class vCamera extends MovieClip{ private var vC:vCam = new vCam(); public function vCamera():void{ addEventListener(Event.ADDED_TO_STAGE, add2Stage) } private function add2Stage(event:Event):void{ vC.x=stage.stageWidth/2; vC.y=stage.stageHeight/2; vC.rotation=15; addChild(vC); } } }

  • Idiomatic default sort using WCF RIA, Entity Framework 4, Silverlight 4?

    - by Duncan Bayne
    I've got two Silverlight 4.0 ComboBoxes; the second displays the children of the entity selected in the first: <ComboBox Name="cmbThings" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=Things,Mode=TwoWay}" DisplayMemberPath="Name" SelectionChanged="CmbThingsSelectionChanged" /> <ComboBox Name="cmbChildThings" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=SelectedThing.ChildThings,Mode=TwoWay}" DisplayMemberPath="Name" /> The code behind the view provides a (simple, hacky) way to databind those ComboBoxes, by loading Entity Framework 4.0 entities through a WCF RIA service: public EntitySet<Thing> Things { get; private set; } public Thing SelectedThing { get; private set; } protected override void OnNavigatedTo(NavigationEventArgs e) { var context = new SortingDomainContext(); context.Load(context.GetThingsQuery()); context.Load(context.GetChildThingsQuery()); Things = context.Things; DataContext = this; } private void CmbThingsSelectionChanged(object sender, SelectionChangedEventArgs e) { SelectedThing = (Thing) cmbThings.SelectedItem; if (PropertyChanged != null) { PropertyChanged.Invoke(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs("SelectedThing")); } } public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; What I'd like to do is have both combo boxes sort their contents alphabetically, and I'd like to specify that behaviour in the XAML if at all possible. Could someone please tell me what is the idiomatic way of doing this with the SL4 / EF4 / WCF RIA technology stack?

  • Setting nested object to null when selected option has empty value

    - by Javi
    Hello, I have a Class which models a User and another which models his country. Something like this: public class User{ private Country country; //other attributes and getter/setters } public class Country{ private Integer id; private String name; //other attributes and getter/setters } I have a Spring form where I have a combobox so the user can select his country or can select the undefined option to indicate he doen't want to provide this information. So I have something like this: <form:select path="country"> <form:option value="">-Select one-</form:option> <form:options items="${countries}" itemLabel="name" itemValue="id"/> </form:select> In my controller I get the autopopulated object with the user information and I want to have country set to null when the "-Select one-" option has been selected. So I have set a initBinder with a custom editor like this: @InitBinder protected void initBinder(WebDataBinder binder) throws ServletException { binder.registerCustomEditor(Country.class, "country", new CustomCountryEditor()); } and my editor do something like this: public class CustomCountryEditor(){ @Override public String getAsText() { //I return the Id of the country } @Override public void setAsText(String str) { //I search in the database for a country with id = new Integer(str) //and set country to that value //or I set country to null in case str == null } } When I submit the form it works because when I have country set to null when I have selected "-Select one-" option or the instance of the country selected. The problem is that when I load the form I have a method like the following one to load the user information. @ModelAttribute("user") public User getUser(){ //loads user from database } The object I get from getUser() has country set to a specific country (not a null value), but in the combobox is not selected any option. I've debugged the application and the CustomCountryEditor works good when setting and getting the text, thoughgetAsText method is called for every item in the list "countries" not only for the "country" field. Any idea? Is there a better way to set null the country object when I select no country option in the combobox? Thanks

  • GitHub solution for personal repo

    - by Luke Maurer
    So I've got my private SVN repo on my home server, and it has maybe 30 different modules thrown together in it, ranging from abortive throw-away larks to a few endeavors that might actually go somewhere someday. But a recent filesystem failure (BTW, never ever EVER use XFS without a battery-backed hardware RAID) has me spooked and thinking of using a DVCS for all that. I've also just had quite the swig of the Git koolaid, and I've been working with GitHub of late, so that's where I'm looking right now. Of course, it would be silly to shell out major cash for a separate private Git repo for every little project, and I don't want to have to be selective about what I throw up there (I love all my children :-D ), so I'll have to be somewhat creative about this. I can happily use SSH to my home box to use Git the way I've been using SVN, and I'm thinking from there I could amalgamate everything into, say, a big project with 30 submodules, which I then push to GitHub. What'd be a sane way to set this up? Does using submodules sound feasible? How do I sync it all to my private GitHub repo? Cron job? Git hook? I'd love to hear it if anyone's done something similar. I'm not really married to Git or GitHub, so a sufficiently compelling feature of another solution might sway me. But if your answer does involve a different system (especially a different VCS), be advised it'll be a tougher sell :-)

  • WCF service with PHP client - complex type as parameter not working

    - by Matt F
    Hi, I have a WCF service with three methods. Two of the methods return custom types (these work as expected), and the third method takes a custom type as a parameter and returns a boolean. When calling the third method via a PHP soap client it returns an 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object' exception. Example Custom Type: _ Public Class MyClass Private _propertyA As Double <DataMember()> _ Public Property PropertyA() As Double Get Return _propertyA End Get Set(ByVal value As Double) _propertyA = value End Set End Property Private _propertyB As Double <DataMember()> _ Public Property PropertyB() As Double Get Return _propertyB End Get Set(ByVal value As Double) _propertyB = value End Set End Property Private _propertyC As Date <DataMember()> _ Public Property PropertyC() As Date Get Return _propertyC End Get Set(ByVal value As Date) _propertyC = value End Set End Property End Class Method: Public Function Add(ByVal param As MyClass) As Boolean Implements IService1.Add ' ... End Function PHP client call: $client-Add(array('param'=array( 'PropertyA' = 1, 'PropertyB' = 2, 'PropertyC' = "2009-01-01" ))); The WCF service works fine with a .Net client but I'm new to PHP and can't get this to work. Is it possible to create an instance of 'MyClass' in PHP. Any help would be appreciated. Note: I'm using PHP 5 (XAMPP 1.7.0 for Windows). Thanks Matt

  • how to show integer values in JComboBox?

    - by Edan
    Hello, I would like to know how to set a JComboBox that contain integers values that I could save. Here is the definitions of values: public class Item { private String itemDesc; private int itemType; public static int ENTREE=0; public static int MAIN_MEAL=1; public static int DESSERT=2; public static int DRINK=3; private float price; int[] itemTypeArray = { ENTREE, MAIN_MEAL, DESSERT, DRINK }; Object[][] data = {{itemDesc, new Integer(itemType), new Float(price)}}; . . . } Now, I want the add a JComboBox that the user will choose 1 of the items (ENTREE, MAIN_MEAL...) and then I could set the number as an Integer. I know that JComboBox need to be something like that: JComboBox combo = new JComboBox(itemTypeArray.values()); JOptionPane.showMessageDialog( null, combo,"Please Enter Item Type", `JOptionPane.QUESTION_MESSAGE);` What am I doing wrong?

  • In C#, are event handler arguments contravariant?

    - by Roger Lipscombe
    If I have a class that raises an event, with (e.g.) FrobbingEventArgs, am I allowed to handle it with a method that takes EventArgs? Here's some code: class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { Frobber frobber = new Frobber(); frobber.Frobbing += FrobberOnFrobbing; frobber.Frob(); } private static void FrobberOnFrobbing(object sender, EventArgs e) { // Do something interesting. Note that the parameter is 'EventArgs'. } } internal class Frobber { public event EventHandler<FrobbingEventArgs> Frobbing; public event EventHandler<FrobbedEventArgs> Frobbed; public void Frob() { OnFrobbing(); // Frob. OnFrobbed(); } private void OnFrobbing() { var handler = Frobbing; if (handler != null) handler(this, new FrobbingEventArgs()); } private void OnFrobbed() { var handler = Frobbed; if (handler != null) handler(this, new FrobbedEventArgs()); } } internal class FrobbedEventArgs : EventArgs { } internal class FrobbingEventArgs : EventArgs { } The reason I ask is that ReSharper seems to have a problem with (what looks like) the equivalent in XAML, and I'm wondering if it's a bug in ReSharper, or a mistake in my understanding of C#.

  • Android Accessing Accelerometer: Returns always 0 as Value

    Hello there, i would like to use the accelerometer in an Android Handset for my Application. The data from the sensor will be saved together with a GPS Point, so the Value is only needed when the GPS Point is updated. If i use the attached Code the values is always zero. • How do I update blackberry UI items from a thread?

    - by Andrei T. Ursan
    public class PlayText extends Thread { private int duration; private String text; private PlayerScreen playerscrn; public PlayText(String text, int duration) { this.duration = duration; this.text = text; this.playerscrn = (PlayerScreen)UiApplication.getUiApplication().getActiveScreen(); } public void run() { synchronized(UiApplication.getEventLock()) { try{ RichTextField text1player = new RichTextField(this.text, Field.NON_FOCUSABLE); playerscrn.add(text1player); playerscrn.invalidate(); Thread.sleep(this.duration); RichTextField text2player = new RichTextField("hahhaha", Field.NON_FOCUSABLE); playerscrn.add(text2player); playerscrn.invalidate(); Thread.sleep(1000); RichTextField text3player = new RichTextField("Done", Field.NON_FOCUSABLE); playerscrn.add(text3player); playerscrn.invalidate(); }catch(Exception e){ System.out.println("I HAVE AN ERROR"); } } } } With the above code I'm trying to create a small text player. Instead to get all the text labels one by one, something like display text1player wait this.duration milliseconds display text2player wait 1000 milliseconds display text3player thread done. The screens waits this.duration + 1000 milliseconds and displays all the labels at once. I tried with a runnable and calling .invokeLater or .invokeAndWait but I still get the same behavior, and even if I get dirty like above using synchronized it still doesn't work. Does anyone know how I can display each label at a time? Thank you!

  • I need a true mouseOver...

    - by invertedSpear
    Ok, so mouseOver and RollOver, and their respective outs work great as long as your mouse is actually over the item, or one of it's children. My problem is that I may have another UI component "between" my mouse and the item I want to process the mouse/rollover(maybe a button that is on top of a canvas, but is not a child of the canvas). The mouse is still over the component, there's just something else that it's over at the same time. Any tips or help how to deal with this? Let me know if I'm not being clear enough. Here is a simplified code example detailing my question copy/paste that into your flex/flash builder and you'll see what I mean: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="absolute" width="500" height="226" creationComplete="ccInit()"> <mx:Script> <![CDATA[ private function ccInit():void{ myCanv.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER,handleRollOver); } private function handleRollOver(evt:MouseEvent):void{ myCanv.setStyle("backgroundAlpha",1); myCanv.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OUT,handleRollOut); } private function handleRollOut(evt:MouseEvent):void{ myCanv.setStyle("backgroundAlpha",0); myCanv.removeEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OUT,handleRollOut); } ]]> </mx:Script> <mx:Canvas id="myCanv" x="10" y="10" width="480" height="200" borderStyle="solid" borderColor="#000000" backgroundColor="#FFFFFF" backgroundAlpha="0"> </mx:Canvas> <mx:Button x="90" y="50" label="Button" width="327" height="100"/> </mx:Application>

  • Good way to maintain Muliple level selection menu list in J2ME

    - by geoaxis
    Hello, I need a good way to maintain multiple form level data for menue selection. So for example If I have A and B, each might Have 1 2 3 so A A1 A2 A3 B B1 B2 B3 And this can continue for long, so that I could have A - A1 - A1.1 - A1.1.1 -.... I have the following class in place, works ok But I suspect we could have better. I just need to perform selection ni a selection tree like Widget, but each level of selection comes in another form (in J2ME) import java.util.Vector; public class Tag { private String tag; private Vector childTags; private Tag parent; Tag(String tag, Vector childtag) { this.tag = tag; this.childTags= childTags; } public void setChildTags(Vector childTags) { this.childTags = childTags; } public Vector getChildTags() { return this.childTags; } public String getTag() { return this.tag; } public String toString(int depth) { String a =""; if(depth==0) { a = a + this.getTag(); } if(this.getChildTags()!= null) { for(int k=0;k <this.getChildTags().capacity(); k++) { for (int i=0; i<depth; i++ ) { a = a + ("-"); } a = a+ ( ((Tag)this.getChildTags().elementAt(k)).toString(depth++)); } } return a; } }

  • Lightweight alternative to Manual/AutoResetEvent in C#

    - by sweetlilmre
    Hi, I have written what I hope is a lightweight alternative to using the ManualResetEvent and AutoResetEvent classes in C#/.NET. The reasoning behind this was to have Event like functionality without the weight of using a kernel locking object. Although the code seems to work well in both testing and production, getting this kind of thing right for all possibilities can be a fraught undertaking and I would humbly request any constructive comments and or criticism from the StackOverflow crowd on this. Hopefully (after review) this will be useful to others. Usage should be similar to the Manual/AutoResetEvent classes with Notify() used for Set(). Here goes: using System; using System.Threading; public class Signal { private readonly object _lock = new object(); private readonly bool _autoResetSignal; private bool _notified; public Signal() : this(false, false) { } public Signal(bool initialState, bool autoReset) { _autoResetSignal = autoReset; _notified = initialState; } public virtual void Notify() { lock (_lock) { // first time? if (!_notified) { // set the flag _notified = true; // unblock a thread which is waiting on this signal Monitor.Pulse(_lock); } } } public void Wait() { Wait(Timeout.Infinite); } public virtual bool Wait(int milliseconds) { lock (_lock) { bool ret = true; // this check needs to be inside the lock otherwise you can get nailed // with a race condition where the notify thread sets the flag AFTER // the waiting thread has checked it and acquires the lock and does the // pulse before the Monitor.Wait below - when this happens the caller // will wait forever as he "just missed" the only pulse which is ever // going to happen if (!_notified) { ret = Monitor.Wait(_lock, milliseconds); } if (_autoResetSignal) { _notified = false; } return (ret); } } }

  • What are the alternatives to public fields?

    - by James
    I am programming a game in java, and as the question title suggestions i am using public fields in my classes. (for the time being) From what i have seen public fields are bad and i have some understanding why. (but if someone could clarify why you should not use them, that would be appreciated) The thing is that also from what i have seen, (and it seems logical) is that using private fields, but using getters and setters to access them is also not good as it defeats the point of using private fields in the first place. So, my question is, what are the alternatives? or do i really have to use private fields with getters and setters? For reference here is one of my classes, and some of its methods. I will elaborate more if needs be. //The player's fields. public double health; public String name; public double goldCount; public double maxWeight; public double currentWeight; public double maxBackPckSlts; public double usedBackPckSlts; // The current back pack slots in use public double maxHealth; // Maximum amount of health public ArrayList<String> backPack = new ArrayList<String>(); //This method happens when ever the player dynamically takes damage(i.e. when it is not scripted for the player to take damage. //Parameters will be added to make it dynamic so the player can take any spread of damage. public void beDamaged(double damage) { this.health -= damage; if (this.health < 0) { this.health = 0; } } public void gainHealth(double gainedHp) { this.health += gainedHp; if (this.health > this.maxHealth) { this.health = this.maxHealth; } }

  • Reuse Client java Socket in a Java Server

    I'm devoloping an Java server two control an android online game. It's possible save the client socket of myserversocket.accept() in a variable in Client class? This are very util because this way, server can communicate with client when server wants and no when client contact server. My actual code are: import java.io.IOException; import java.io.ObjectInputStream; import java.io.ObjectOutputStream; import java.net.ServerSocket; import java.net.Socket; import java.util.ArrayList; import java.util.UUID; • Hibernate query for multiple items in a collection

    - by aarestad
    I have a data model that looks something like this: public class Item { private List<ItemAttribute> attributes; // other stuff } public class ItemAttribute { private String name; private String value; } (this obviously simplifies away a lot of the extraneous stuff) What I want to do is create a query to ask for all Items with one OR MORE particular attributes, ideally joined with arbitrary ANDs and ORs. Right now I'm keeping it simple and just trying to implement the AND case. In pseudo-SQL (or pseudo-HQL if you would), it would be something like: select all items where attributes contains(ItemAttribute(name="foo1", value="bar1")) AND attributes contains(ItemAttribute(name="foo2", value="bar2")) The examples in the Hibernate docs didn't seem to address this particular use case, but it seems like a fairly common one. The disjunction case would also be useful, especially so I could specify a list of possible values, i.e. where attributes contains(ItemAttribute(name="foo", value="bar1")) OR attributes contains(ItemAttribute(name="foo", value="bar2")) -- etc. Here's an example that works OK for a single attribute: return getSession().createCriteria(Item.class) .createAlias("itemAttributes", "ia") .add(Restrictions.conjunction() .add(Restrictions.eq("ia.name", "foo")) .add(Restrictions.eq("ia.attributeValue", "bar"))) .list(); Learning how to do this would go a long ways towards expanding my understanding of Hibernate's potential. :)

  • How can I create a new Person object correctly in Javascript?

    - by TimDog
    I'm still struggling with this concept. I have two different Person objects, very simply: ;Person1 = (function() { function P (fname, lname) { P.FirstName = fname; P.LastName = lname; return P; } P.FirstName = ''; P.LastName = ''; var prName = 'private'; P.showPrivate = function() { alert(prName); }; return P; })(); ;Person2 = (function() { var prName = 'private'; this.FirstName = ''; this.LastName = ''; this.showPrivate = function() { alert(prName); }; return function(fname, lname) { this.FirstName = fname; this.LastName = lname; } })(); And let's say I invoke them like this: var s = new Array(); //Person1 s.push(new Person1("sal", "smith")); s.push(new Person1("bill", "wonk")); alert(s[0].FirstName); alert(s[1].FirstName); s[1].showPrivate(); //Person2 s.push(new Person2("sal", "smith")); s.push(new Person2("bill", "wonk")); alert(s[2].FirstName); alert(s[3].FirstName); s[3].showPrivate(); The Person1 set alerts "bill" twice, then alerts "private" once -- so it recognizes the showPrivate function, but the local FirstName variable gets overwritten. The second Person2 set alerts "sal", then "bill", but it fails when the showPrivate function is called. The new keyword here works as I'd expect, but showPrivate (which I thought was a publicly exposed function within the closure) is apparently not public. I want to get my object to have distinct copies of all local variables and also expose public methods -- I've been studying closures quite a bit, but I'm still confused on this one. Thanks for your help.

  • updating system's time using .Net

    - by user62958
    I am trying to update my system time using the following: [StructLayout(LayoutKind.Sequential)] private struct SYSTEMTIME { public ushort wYear; public ushort wMonth; public ushort wDayOfWeek; public ushort wDay; public ushort wHour; public ushort wMinute; public ushort wSecond; public ushort wMilliseconds; } [DllImport("kernel32.dll", EntryPoint = "GetSystemTime", SetLastError = true)] private extern static void Win32GetSystemTime(ref SYSTEMTIME lpSystemTime); [DllImport("kernel32.dll", EntryPoint = "SetSystemTime", SetLastError = true)] private extern static bool Win32SetSystemTime(ref SYSTEMTIME lpSystemTime); public void SetTime() { TimeSystem correctTime = new TimeSystem(); DateTime sysTime = correctTime.GetSystemTime(); // Call the native GetSystemTime method // with the defined structure. SYSTEMTIME systime = new SYSTEMTIME(); Win32GetSystemTime(ref systime); // Set the system clock ahead one hour. systime.wYear = (ushort)sysTime.Year; systime.wMonth = (ushort)sysTime.Month; systime.wDayOfWeek = (ushort)sysTime.DayOfWeek; systime.wDay = (ushort)sysTime.Day; systime.wHour = (ushort)sysTime.Hour; systime.wMinute = (ushort)sysTime.Minute; systime.wSecond = (ushort)sysTime.Second; systime.wMilliseconds = (ushort)sysTime.Millisecond; Win32SetSystemTime(ref systime); } When I debug everything looks good and all the values are correct but when it calles the Win32SetSystemTime(ref systime) th actual time of system(display time) doesn't change and stays the same. The strange part is that when I call the Win32GetSystemTime(ref systime) it gives me the new updated time. Can someone give me some help on this?
