• Ul Li last element not aligning properly

  I am having a problem where the last li element in a ul is pushing itself to the left further than the rest of all my pieces. Attached is a screen shot and my code. I have tried using the last-child element but it doesn't work in Safari or Chrome. #attending ul { display: inline; margin: 0 5px 0 0; padding-left: 0px; } #attending ul li { display: inline; list-style-image:none; padding: 5px; } #attending li:last-child { margin-right:-4px; } Suggestions? • Problem uploading .docx through html form

  I've made a simple form, with the proper enctype for uploading files. When i try to upload a .docx everything works fine in IE 8 and Safari, but in Firefox or IE 7 or 6 i can't even click submit, nothing happens! Could this still be a server issue? It's an apache server. • Does anyone know of a library in Java that can parse ESRI Shapefiles?

  I'm interested in writing a visualization program for the road data in the 2009 Tiger/Line Shapefiles. I'd like to draw the line data to display all the roads for my county. The ESRI Shapefile or simply a shapefile is a popular geospatial vector data format for geographic information systems software. It is developed and regulated by ESRI as a (mostly) open specification for data interoperability among ESRI and other software products.1 A "shapefile" commonly refers to a collection of files with ".shp", ".shx", ".dbf", and other extensions on a common prefix name (e.g., "lakes.*"). The actual shapefile relates specifically to files with the ".shp" extension, however this file alone is incomplete for distribution, as the other supporting files are required. Does anyone know of existing libraries for parsing and reading in the line data for Shapefiles?

• IE9 Acid 3 test?

  Does anybody know if Microsoft is planning on having IE9 pass with 100/100 on acid 3? The current version of IE9 gets a 68/100 on the test (can be viewed here, main site here). What did IE8 pass with? What about IE7? How does it compare to other modern browsers such as Safari, Firefox, and Chrome? Please submit useful answers, not opinions on how bad IE is, I don't like it either. Thanks a bunch!

• jquery ui dialog fixed positioning

  Hi, I needed the dialog to maintain its position fixed even if the page scrolled, so i used the extension at http://forum.jquery.com/topic/dialog-position-fixed-12-1-2010 but there's 2 problems with it: it flickers in IE and Firefox on page scroll (in Safari/Chrome it's fine) on closing and then reopening, it looses its stickyness and scrolls along with the page. • How to programmatically answer "Yes" to WebBrowser control security alert

  I am using WebBrowser control to programmatically access a single website, but whenever I login, I receive this certificate security alert: Since I trust that website and since I need to programmatically automate the login as well, this dialog box gets in the way. I searched SO for a solution and found a question similar to mine, but the accepted answer does not work! I defined a static member in the form that contains the WebControl: public static bool ValidateServerCertificate(object sender, X509Certificate certificate, X509Chain chain, SslPolicyErrors sslPolicyErrors) { return true; } In my form's constructor I added: ServicePointManager.ServerCertificateValidationCallback = new RemoteCertificateValidationCallback(ValidateServerCertificate); But that didn't get rid of the certificate security alert. Is there any way to get rid of this warning? Is there an IE equivalent to Firefox's Add Security Exception??? Note: The owner's certificate works perfectly fine (without exhibiting this security alert) with standalone browsers (IE, FF, Chrome, Safari). It only exhibits the problem with the WebBroswer control.

• Any way to remove IEs black border around submit button in active forms?

  I am implementing a design that uses custom styled submit-buttons. They are quite simply light grey buttons with a slightly darker outer border: input.button { background: #eee; border: 1px solid #ccc; } This looks just right in Firefox, Safari and Opera. The problem is with Internet Explorer, both 6 and 7. Since the form is the first one on the page, it's counted as the main form - and thus active from the get go. The first submit button in the active form receives a solid black border in IE, to mark it as the main action. If I turn off borders, then the black extra border in IE goes away too. I am looking for a way to keep my normal borders, but remove the outline.

• YouTube player api - addEventListener() does not work for me?

  Hi, I'm using the youtube player api. I'm following the doc here: http://code.google.com/apis/youtube/js_api_reference.html having a problem adding an event listener on the player, it seems to just get stuck there. I put an alert statement directly after, which never gets called: ytplayer.addEventListener("onStateChange", "onytplayerStateChange"); alert("I never get called..."); any idea why this would happen? Running it through FF chrome safari, same thing happens on all. Other player features all work fine. I'm using the swfobject version. I'm running this live from a server too. I don't get it. Thanks

• Hot to trigger saved password autofill in browsers?

  I have a web application written in pure JavaScript (no pre-generated HTML except for the document which loads all the JS files). This app contains a login form which is created dynamically when the document.ready event event is triggered. I trick the browser into displaying the "Remember password?" dialog by posting the login form into a hidden iframe before logging in using ajax (in Firefox the password appears on the saved password list, so this part obviously works) but saved passwords never get filled in after the login screen is loaded again at a later time. The same thing happens in Firefox and Safari. Is there something I can do or some function I can call to trigger autofill?

I'm developing an application with Hibernate 3.5 and Spring 3.0 Pros: Good documentation Easy configuration and helpful logs Popularity - wide community Some extensions to JPA Some additional Tools - JBoss Tools for Eclipse, hbm2ddl, generating static metamodel etc... Cons: Bugs! (Sequences, collections etc...) Lots of reatures are doubled with "pure" Hibernate. There's a mess in legacy Hibernate and JPA annotations. I'm considering to switch to EclipseLink. What do You think ? Edit: I've tried EclipseLink and have very bad experiences. It seems like EclipseLink needs LoadTimeWeaver and likes to run on OSGi platform rather than simple Jetty or Tomcat environment. I just don't have time for all this configuration stuff.

• Distance by sea calculator, intermediate coordinates?

  How do I calculate distance between 2 coordinates by sea? I also want to be able to draw a route between the two coordinates. Only solution I found so far is to split a map into pixels, identify each pixel as LAND or SEA and then try to find the path using A* algorithm. Then transform pixels to relative coordinates. There are some software packages I could buy but none have online extensions. A service that calculates distances between sea ports and plots the path on a map is searates.com

Add a user who really badly wants to avoid the requirement of an installer with the necessary privileges to write to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT. I've seem bits of evidence that MS has created some sort of trick for shadowing HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT from HKCU. Is this, in fact, possible? If so, can this be installed as a non-privileged MSI, or does it have to be arranged otherwise? And, finally, what's the minimum version of Windows required?

  Hello, HTML5 draft contains an API called EventSource to stream data (notifications) trough javascript using only one server call. • Is anyone else receiving a QUOTA_EXCEEDED_ERR on their iPad when accessing localStorage?

  I have a web application written in JavaScript that runs successfully on the desktop via Safari as well as on the iPhone. We are looking at porting this application to the iPad and we are running into a problem where we are seeing QUOTA_EXCEEDED_ERR when storing a relatively small amount of data within the localStorage on the device. • Trying to add trailing slash with htaccess, results in a absolute path

  What I'm trying to achive is to have all urls on my page look like http://domain.com/page/, no extensions, but a trailing slash. If a user happends to write http://domain.com/page or http://domain.com/page.php it will redirect to the first url. After some googling i found this code, and it's close to working, but when you leave out the trailing slash in your request the url becomes something like http://domain.com/Users/"..."/page/ and therefor returns a 404. • error when installing mysql ruby gem on OSX 10.6.3

  So I am getting the same issue as mentioned here - http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1366746/gem-install-mysql-failure-in-snow-leopard But I haven't been able to get it fixed using the answers on this link. Here's a brief history - I had MAMP on my machine, but now I downloaded the latest MySQL from mysql.com and installed version 5.1.46 this new version runs fine and client "mysql" is able to connect and I also have XCode v3.2.1, since someone mentioned that it can cause issues. Here's the error - **Building native extensions. This could take a while... ERROR: Error installing mysql: ERROR: Failed to build gem native extension. /System/Library/Frameworks/Ruby.framework/Versions/1.8/usr/bin/ruby extconf.rb --with-mysql-config=/usr/local/mysql/bin/mysql_config mkmf.rb can't find header files for ruby at /System/Library/Frameworks/Ruby.framework/Versions/1.8/usr/lib/ruby/ruby.h Gem files will remain installed in /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/mysql-2.8.1 for inspection. • Get seconds since epoch in any POSIX compliant shell

  I'd like to know if there's a way to get the number of seconds since the UNIX epoch in any POSIX compliant shell, without resorting to non-POSIX languages like perl, or using non-POSIX extensions like GNU awk's strftime function. Here are some solutions I've already ruled out... date +%s // Doesn't work on Solaris I've seen some shell scripts suggested before, which parse the output of date then derive seconds from the formatted gregorian calendar date, but they don't seem to take details like leap seconds into account. GNU awk has the strftime function, but this isn't available in standard awk. I could write a small C program which calls the time function, but the binary would be specific to a particular architecture. Is there a cross platform way to do this using only POSIX compliant tools? I'm tempted to give up and accept a dependency on perl, which is at least widely deployed. perl -e 'print time' // Cheating (non-POSIX), but should work on most platforms

• internet explorer ashx file problem

  My problem is a bit complicated: I am writing in c#, asp.net and using jquery I have a page that sends requests to the server using jquery's ajax method. I have a ashx file (handler) to respond to these request. User can perform several changes on several pages, then use some method that will call the ajax method. My ashx file reads some values From the session variables and acts accordingly. This works fine in all browsers but in internet explorer. In internet explorer the session seems to hold old information (old user ids'). It's incredible, the same code works fine in firefox, chrome and safari but fails with ie. What could be causing it? I have no clue where to even start looking for a solution. btw, Sorry for the general title, couldn't figure out how to explain in just few words. Thank You!

• Do not fetch app.manifest each time

  For creating an offline version of a bunch of linked web pages I use an app.manifest-file that lists all the web pages for offline caching. I would like it that the app.manifest file is not fetched every time when a user jumps from one web page to another. Most of the web pages will never be updated once the application is on the iPhone. Also the target audience is abroad so roaming costs could add up while users are using my "web app". Searching the internet made me think in the direction of forcing an offline mode in Mobile Safari using Javascript but I don't know if this is the right way to go or if it is even possible. Does anyone have any other and/or better ideas and suggestions on how to do this?

• Anti-aliasing not working when resizing a UIWebView

  I'd like to add a Web View to my app at 60% scale (like seen in Safari in the browse other windows view): Notice how the content looks nice and Aliased! • VS2010 converted project invalid reference

  Opening a .Net 2 project in VS2010 it converts the project without any issues BUT when I attempt to build it fails. The reason is that in VS2005 a reference was added to System.Web.Extensions which is a .Net 3.5 assembly. Now VS2005 never complained at this and quite happily worked but VS2010 is far more strict and won't allow it. I've tried changing the targeted framework to .Net 3.5 but I get another situation there where the web page is never displayed, it simply hangs not even getting to Applicatin_OnStart. Any help either on adding the reference with .Net 2 as target framework (prefered option for time) or getting the .Net 3.5 version to work would be greatly appreciated.

• Firefox session cookies

  Generally speaking, when given a cookie that has no expiration period, modern browsers will consider this cookie to be a 'session cookie', they will remove the cookie at the end of the browsing session (generally when the browser instance closes). IE, Opera, Safari and Chrome all support this behavior. However firefox (3.0.9 latest proper release) appears not to follow this rule, from what I can tell it doesn't expire the cookies when the browser is closed, or when the user logs off or restarts the OS.. So, why does firefox refer to these as session cookies, when they last aparently indefinitely? Does anyone know how Firefox handles session cookie expiration?

• Leaving out type="text/javascript" language="javascript"

  Most of the script tags I create, I always include type="text/javascript" language="javascript" in the tag. My boss however does not. Sometimes he excludes both, sometimes just has language=javascript even without the quotes Now we have not had an issue in any of the major browsers with his tags. I'm talking about all versions of IE, FF, Safari, and Chrome. Personally I feel it's laziness and just totally improper and bad coding practice to leave stuff out like this even if it works without it. Anyone know if both should be included or just one or is it ok to leave both out in ASP.NET?
