• Creating a simple wcf service publishing it to my webhotel, and get it to work

  Hi, This seems to be a recurring problem to me. I want to get started doing wcf services. I create a new Wcf Service Library, compile it, and publish it using FTP to my providers webhotel. But its not working. I somehow cant get access. I dont want some fancy security model - i just want to get a hole through to my simple webservice. Seems that its the part when i publish it to my webhotel (in a subdomain) that breaks the webservice - its working perfectly when starting it locally. How to proceed anyone?

• Tridion Core Service - Transaction roll back isnt working

  We are using the core service in ASP.NET custom page in order to create pages and components and sevenral updates (checkout,save and chekin). we want those operations to work in transaction, we tried to implement it acording to some examples over the net. However we didn't succeded operating the rollback. It seems that the operation are immediately performed without waiting for the comit .   I am looking to accomplish 2 way communication over http between a .Net service (WCF SOAP or REST, both options are open) hosted on IIS 7 and Windows Forms Client running on Windows 7. WebSockets are not supported with IIS 7 and all other Comet techniques allow only the web server to push data to client and not the other way around. The client will be very chatty, and there are thousands of clients, so I want to avoid creating a new HTTP request for each message to the server, though that is the last option. Is there any way to do this ?

  I'm having a tough time trying to find clear and concise examples of how one would implement a service-based authentication scheme using tokens. As far as I can tell, the basic steps are as follows: Client requests username/password from user Client passes username/password to identity provider Provider checks username/password and sends back a token if the user is valid Client does something with the token? The third and fourth step are where I'm getting stuck. I assume the "token" in this case just has to be either an encrypted string that the client can decrypt or some random string that gets stored somewhere (i.e. a database) that the client can then verify against, but I'm not really sure what the client is then supposed to do with the token or why you even need a token at all -- couldn't a simple user ID also suffice?

• .NET Web Service Proxy is adding special characters in XML

  My web service proxy seems to be adding special characters like "*" and "#" etc. within the xml nodes. My proxy created lists using arrays of objects. I am trying to create a generic list and then doing list.ToArray() to set the proxy MyProxyObject[] object. Is this the cause of the problem I am having? I plan on running fiddler on the request later but it is over SSL and I do not have access to the URL at the moment. This is to ensure the service contracts don't differ from time of release. I would like my tests to be self contained and not rely on any external resources such as hosting on IIS.   hi everyone, I have writed a primitive wcf (vs 2010) service and created proxy files by svcutil. Later I created a mobile project on vs2008 and added proxy files on project but this error occured. Error 1 The type or namespace name 'ServiceContractAttribute' does not exist in the namespace 'System.ServiceModel' (are you missing an assembly reference?) C:\Users\Abb\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\WCF\MobileService\MobileClient\Sample.cs the proxy files runs well on console application (vs 2008) but there is errors on mobile. System.ServiceModel doesnot support ServiceContractAttribute.

  Hi All I am trying to implement a feature. But I've never had anything to do with "Web Services" before, other than using them. I have a desktop application, and I want that application to be able to sort of "post" some information (i.e. email address, username, user-selected options (just plain text) etc) to an application or "web service" on my ASP.NET web server. The Thing... ....is that these events are monitoring processes, which I need to restart at certain times of the day. Question What's the best way I can go about performing this task at an exact time? (Persian digits uni06F0..uni06F9). the number of visitors is generated by blog service. and I want to convert its digits to Arabic. Counter: ????? ????????????? : <BlogSky:Weblog Counter /> ??? the Persian part of above code mean 'Number of visitors' and 'Persons' (from left to right). but digits are represented in latin (0123...). • Custom changeable handler when a Service finishes downloading a file

  I have a Service that downloads a file from the internet. What I want is for the response (an InputStream in this case) to be handled by a custom handler that can be switched (like a strategy pattern) but I can't figure out how to do this. So basically the User of the API would be able to plug in different handlers for the response, some would parse XML, others might save files etc. I realise I could pass through the activity context and execute the method from this (given some interface) but I don't want to do this obviously, in case the Activity is closed in the meantime while the file is still downloaded. How might I do this?

• I changed the web service declaration and then wsimport says that I have a repeated message

  I had a Web service method working fine on Tomcat as deployed by Netbeans 6.8. Then I had to add a new parameter for the same method so I erased the method and then added a new one with the same name but different parameters. After that, ws-import keeps on telling me that I have duplicated messages for such method, and if I remove the new one, the WSDL will still show me the old one with the old parameter list. How do I get rid of the old one? thanks in advance.

• Free service that allows storing game data online?

  I have created a small game in Java and I would like to add the ability for a player to publish his highscores online. I'm willing to write the server software myself (it's easy these days with Ruby Mongrel, or even C++). All I just need to have some sort hosting. One solution that immediately comes to mind is Amazon EC2. But that's kind of expensive for my needs. Since the requirements are very minimal (I don't even need a website, just a web service) I think there may be a cheaper solution out there. Does anyone know of a free or cheap provider for this kind of thing?

  in my asp.net MVC project i have an database connection with connectionstring: Data Source=.;Initial Catalog=dbname;Integrated Security=True All users can execute Stored Procedures on that connection and i want to log those users. so after each execution I store "User.Identity.Name" to another database. This work great on my development machine but after deployment, to access the site i have to go through a VPN-connention and then remote desktop to the same server that the IIS is running on and use a web-browser there. Then i get User.Identity.Name: "NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE". i would expect it to be the credentials i entered in remote desktop that have access to the database. any idea how i can get this to work? iis6 authentication: "windows authentication: enabled" web.config:

  someone wrote a nice framework for developing html5 3d engine. It's GPL/MIT licensed. Do you think it's a good idea to build upon it, and then repackage it and sell it as a service? For eg the framework lets you build 3d environments. so I build on it, maybe add a few features like characters and music in the environment, and turn it into an online game. Is it a feasible idea? Of course, part of the GPL license says that all source code has to be visible to end users. Assuming the web is a winner take all market based on first mover advantage, why care about hiding the source code? It's the product that's being sold that counts.

• Using a JSON web service from a Java client application

  I am developing a client-side Java application that has a bit of functionality that requires getting data from some web services that transmit in JSON (some RESTful, some not). No JavaScript, no web browser, just a plain JAR file that will run locally with Swing for the GUI. This is not a new or unique problem; surely there must be some open source libraries out there that will handle the JSON data transmission over HTTP. I've already found some that will parse JSON, but I'm having trouble finding any that will handle the HTTP communication to consume the JSON web service. So far I've found Apache Axis2 apparently which might have at least part of the solution, but I don't see enough documentation for it to know if it will do what I need, or how to use it. Maybe part of the problem is that I don't have experience with web services so I'm not able to know a solution when I see it. I hope some of you can point me in the right direction. Examples would be helpful.

  I need to create a service which can process queued requests on a configured time interval. For example go to the web and get financial data from a site the requires we limit requests to once per second. I am new to WCF and I am not sure if (1) WCF with MSMQ a proper choice for implementing this? and (2) if so what is the best mechanism for enforcing the interval? a thread wait? a timer (not sure how that would work).
