  I wrote a program (on my TI-84 calculator) to satisfy the following exercise: Write a program that will print all solutions of the inequality ax + b < c, where a, b, and c are entered by the user. In this program the domain of x will be a set of consecutive integers, where the smallest and largest members of the set will also be entered by the user. (Hint: Use a FOR . . . NEXT loop to test each integer from smallest to largest.) • C# Wholesale Order form - textboxes in Gridviews in Repeater

  I'm building a wholesale order form on a website. The current plan is to... -get an ArrayList of DepartmentUnits -a DepartmentUnit has various attributes like "deptId", "description" and its own ArrayList of StoreItems -The StoreItems have attached ArrayList of various SizeOptions -The SizeOptions have an inventory count integer along with their description -Planning on putting an asp:Repeater on the page that has an asp:GridView in it -Each DepartmentUnit will have its own GridView -EachStore item will have a row in the GridView -Each SizeOption will have a TextBox in the row (approximately 10 options) -Each inventory count will be watermarked over the size option textbox The question becomes how will I then collect all this information correctly once the form has been filled out? I don't like the idea of putting all this information in an update panel and then posting back each time a GridView row or worse one of the row's textboxes changes. Any advice on putting a single save button on the page and looping through each Repeater item - and each GridViewRow - and each textbox - to get all the values entered? Better to try collecting all the items added in a single table at the bottom of the page and updating the string with jquery each time a text box is modified? Then just looping through the new table when saved? Not sure I know how to loop through that table though - updating if quantity is changed might be a bear too. If it considerably simplifies the process I could just remove the Repeater aspect and put separate GridViews on separate pages. Thanks!

• Simple way to return anonymous types (to make MVC using LINQ possible)

  I'd like to implement MVC while using LINQ (specifically, LINQ-to-entities). The way I would do this is have the Controller generate (or call something which generates) the result-set using LINQ, then return that to the View to display the data. The problem is, if I do: return (from o in myTable select o); All the columns are read from the database, even the ones (potentially dozens) I don't want. And - more importantly - I can't do something like this: return (from o in myTable select new { o.column }); because there is no way to make anonymous types type-safe! I know for sure there is no nice, clean way of doing this in 3.5 (this is not clean...), but what about 4.0? Is there anything planned, or even proposed? Without something like duck-typing-for-LINQ, or type-safe anonymous return values (it seems to me the compiler should certainly be capable of that), it appears to be nearly impossible to cleanly separate the Controller from the View.

  I've got some dynamically-generated boolean logic expressions, like: (A or B) and (C or D) A or (A and B) A empty - evaluates to True The placeholders get replaced with booleans. Should I, Convert this information to a Python expression like True or (True or False) and eval it? Create a binary tree where a node is either a bool or Conjunction/Disjunction object and recursively evaluate it? Convert it into nested S-expressions and use a Lisp parser? Something else? Suggestions welcome.

• Can someone please help, I cant get this simple scolling feature

  I want to be able to have many button and objects in my project but they all wont fit on the screen at once so i would like the user to be able to scroll down and have more appear but i cant get it to work. I tried using ScrollView but it always throws me errors. Here is what I have so far. • My simple PHP is outputting wrong things.

  EDIT: I forgot to add semi colons. Now there is another problems. • Embedding a File Explorer instance in a WinForms app form

  My (C#, .NET 3.5) app generates files and, in addition to raising events that can be caught and reacted to, I want to display the target folder to the user in a form. The file-list is being shown within the same form as other information. I'm using an instance of the WebBrowser control (System.Windows.Forms.WebBrowser), then navigating to the folder. This shows some default view of the explorer window, with the file summary panel on the left and the files in the 'Tiles' (large icon and text) view. e.g. wb.Navigate(@"c:\path\to\folder\"); I'd like to suppress the panel and to view the file list in the Details view. The user can get to this via a right-click, context menu, but I'd like it to come up automatically. I'd rather not have to build my own TreeView, DataGridView or whatever; the WebBrowser control does all the updating and re-sorting and whatnot 'for free'. Does anybody have a better suggestion? A different control to use or some additional arguments to pass to the control? And if I could trap events (e.g. files being selected/renamed/double-clicked, etc.) then all the better!

• validates_associated in production

  Hi all. Imagine a simple model. class Service belongs_to :user validates_associated :user accepts_nested_attributes_for :user end Nothing special right? The validations on the associated User model trigger correctly in development mode. But don't do anything in production. I've added a validates_on_presence :user just like the docs say. This triggers when there's no User associated with the Service, but fill in one thing on the User model and nothing happens! It's driving me up the walls. Am I overlooking something? More info about the MVC: I use formtastic for the forms. Thanks!

I will create my custom tiles using MOBAC.   I have a string which is basically a list of "words" delimited by commas. These "words" can be pretty much any character e.g. "Bart Simpson, Ex-girlfriend, dude, radical" I'm trying to use javascript, jQuery, whatever i can to replace a word based on a search string with nothing (in essence, removing the word from the list). For example, the function is defined as such: function removeWord(myString, wordToReplace) {...}; So, passing the string listed above as myString and passing "dude" as wordToReplace would return the string "Bart Simpson, Ex-girlfriend, radical" Here's the line of code I was tinkering around with...please help me figure out what's wrong with it or some alternative (better) solution:$myString.val($myString.val().replace(/wordToReplace\, /, ""));

• Rails: simple bundler question with ruby-openid

  Hi! I just installed the ruby-openid gem and then bundled it by entering gem 'ruby-openid', :require => 'openid' in the gemfile. Then I started bundle install and bundle lock. Everything worked fine so far. But how can I now access the classes of ruby-openid. OpenID::method won't work for me. It raises a not found error. What have I forgot or done wrong? I'm absolutely new to bundler and the internet full of solutions for various versions, but I need one solution that's surely working. I'm thankful for any help!

• Using a redirect of any form to remove a query string with Apache

  Because of the silly way iTunes works the only way to update the URL for a feed is by setting up a permanent redirect from the old feed to the new. This seems easy, but I've hit a snag. The old URL ended in /?feed=rss2, the new URL is just a file, so it ends in podcast.xml. When I redirected from the old URL to the new, iTunes picked up the new URL BUT, WITH the query string, so now the URL ends in podcast.xml?feed=rss2. This is allowing listers to download the show - which is good, but causing some other problems. Is there any possible way to set up a permanent redirect that will redired podcast.xml?feed=rss2 to just podcast.xml? Mod_Rewrite seems to just pass through query strings, so I'm at a loss! Bart.

  I have made a Silverlight application which can read data from various URLs. So users of the application who control a website can: FTP text and XML files onto their website put a clientaccesspolicy.xml in their root directory enter their URL in the silverlight application at which point the silverlight application then begins reading data from their site. I would like to extend this to less technical users who do not control a website, aren't adept with FTP, etc. What is the best service on the web that: allows users to publish different kinds of data, e.g. put out text files on web allows Silverlight client access (has clientaccesspolicy.xml set up) Some ideas are: free blog services (although then they are limited to a RSS feed, or the silverlight app would have to do some screen scraping) Google Docs? free cloud services? What free services allow easy publishing of any kind of data on the web and allow Silverlight client access?

  I need to find the value of a variable and use it to add a class to a div, based on a switch statement.
