  • C#: File-size format provider

    - by Seb Nilsson
Is there any easy way to create a class that uses IFormatProvider that writes out a user-friendly file-size? public static string GetFileSizeString(string filePath) { FileInfo info = new FileInfo(@"c:\windows\notepad.exe"); long size = info.Length; string sizeString = size.ToString(FileSizeFormatProvider); // This is where the class does its magic... } It should result in strings formatted something like "2,5 MB", "3,9 GB", "670 bytes" and so on.

  • The Command "File.BatchNewTeamProject" is not available in VSTS 2010

    - by TS
Hi, I am trying to automate the creation of team projects using a command built into VS 2010 called File.BatchNewTeamProject using a project settings file as an argument, and executing this as a process silently in the background from my c# win app. I am aware of a requirement that Team Explorer has to be open and connected to TFS before this command can run, however, when I start a process with devenv.exe, a fresh instance of visual studio pops up with Team Explorer not connected by default. How can I solve this problem?

  • How to extract ONLY the contents of the JDK installer

    - by Abel Morelos
I just downloaded the Java SDK/JDK versions 5 and 6, and I just need the development tools (and some libraries) contained in the installation packages, I don't need to perform an installation and that's why I was only looking for a zip package at first (for Windows there is only an exe installation file), I only need to extract the contents of the installation packages, I think this can be done from the command line but so far I haven't found how to do this (I already considered WinRar and 7-Zip, but I really want to find how to do it without using these tools) Have you done this before and how?

  • OnExit is not entering via PostSharp in asp.net project.

    - by mark smith
    Hi there, I have setup PostSharp and it appears to be working but i don't get it entering OnExit (i have logged setup to ensure it is working) ... Its a bit tricky to configure with asp.net - or is it just me ... I am using the 1.5 new version I basically have the following in my web.config and i had to add the SearchPath otherwise it can't find my assemblies <postsharp directory="C:\Program Files\PostSharp 1.5" trace="true"> <parameters> <!--<add name="parameter-name" value="parameter-value"/>--> </parameters> <searchPath> <!-- Always add the binary folder to the search path. --> <add name="bin" value="~\bin"/> </searchPath> </postsharp> I have set tracing on but what is strange to me is that it appears to build to the temp directory, maybe this is my issue, i am unsure .. hence i do F5 ... Is it possible to name the Output directory and output file?? As you can see it is editing a DLL in the temp dir so IIS is no longer in control so it doesn't execute it ??? Confused! :-) C:\Program Files\PostSharp 1.5\postsharp.exe "/P:Output=C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\mysitemvc-1.2\c2087140\8ac2dc93\postsharp\App_Web_04ae3ewy.dll" "/P:IntermediateDirectory=C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\mysitemvc-1.2\c2087140\8ac2dc93\postsharp " /P:CleanIntermediate=False /P:ReferenceDirectory=. /P:SignAssembly=False /P:PrivateKeyLocation= /P:ResolvedReferences= "/P:SearchPath=C:\Source Code\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\mysitemvc\mysitemvc\bin," /V /SkipAutoUpdate "C:\Program Files\PostSharp 1.5\Default.psproj" "C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\mysitemvc-1.2\c2087140\8ac2dc93\before-postsharp\App_Web_04ae3ewy.dll" PostSharp 1.5 [1.5.6.627] - Copyright (c) Gael Fraiteur, 2005-2009. info PS0035: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\ilasm.exe "C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\mysitemvc-1.2\c2087140\8ac2dc93\postsharp\App_Web_04ae3ewy.il" /QUIET /DLL /PDB "/RESOURCE=C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\mysitemvc-1.2\c2087140\8ac2dc93\postsharp\App_Web_04ae3ewy.res" "/OUTPUT=C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\mysitemvc-1.2\c2087140\8ac2dc93\postsharp\App_Web_04ae3ewy.dll" /SUBSYSTEM=3 /FLAGS=1 /BASE=18481152 /STACK=1048576 /ALIGNMENT=512 /MDV=v2.0.50727

  • How to find strong name signature without calling LoadAssembly

    - by Todd Kobus
When reading a Windows PE file directly, I can't seem to find the strong name signature of a delay signed assembly. I can get to the CLR Header and read all those entries. Is the information in the MetaData directory specified within the CLR header? If so does anyone have an example of how to read this table? I am not interested in calling SN.exe or loading the assembly.

  • ClickOnce Deployment of an Application with more then one executable file

    - by Ahron Levi
Hi I am trying to deploy an application with two executable files one of which is the application it self. I used the publish tub on the VS 2008 and tried to publish manually using the MageUI.exe. in both cases I get the "Reference in the manifest does not match the identity of the downloaded assembly" error in regards to the second executable file. Dose Any one know how to publish an application with two executable files? Thanks, Ahron

  • Running Command via Java ProccesBuilder Different to Running the same in the Shell

    - by Tom Duckering
I'm tearing my hair out trying to work out why the command I'm executing via Java using a ProcessBuilder & Process is not working. I run the "same" command at the Windows command line and it works as expected. It must be that they're not the same but I can't for the life of me work out why. The command is this: ccm start -nogui -m -q -n ccm_admin -r developer -d /path/to/db/databasename -s http://hostname:8400 -pw Passw0rd789$ The output is should be a single line string that I need to grab and set as an environment variable (hence the v. basic use of the BufferedReader). My Java code, which when it runs the command gets an application error, looks like this with entry point being startCCMAndGetCCMAddress(): private static String ccmAddress = ""; private static final String DATABASE_PATH = "/path/to/db/databasename"; private static final String SYNERGY_URL = "http://hostname:8400"; private static final String USERNAME = "ccm_admin"; private static final String PASSWORD = "Passw0rd789$"; private static final String USER_ROLE = "developer"; public static List<String> getCCMStartCommand() { List<String> command = new ArrayList<String>(); command.add("cmd.exe"); command.add("/C"); command.add("ccm"); command.add("start"); command.add("-nogui"); command.add("-m"); command.add("-q"); command.add("-n "+USERNAME); command.add("-r "+USER_ROLE); command.add("-d "+DATABASE_PATH); command.add("-s "+SYNERGY_URL); command.add("-pw "+PASSWORD); return command; } private static String startCCMAndGetCCMAddress() throws IOException, CCMCommandException { int processExitValue = 0; List<String> command = getCCMStartCommand(); System.err.println("Will run: "+command); ProcessBuilder procBuilder = new ProcessBuilder(command); procBuilder.redirectErrorStream(true); Process proc = procBuilder.start(); BufferedReader outputBr = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(proc.getInputStream())); try { proc.waitFor(); } catch (InterruptedException e) { processExitValue = proc.exitValue(); } String outputLine = outputBr.readLine(); outputBr.close(); if (processExitValue != 0) { throw new CCMCommandException("Command failed with output: " + outputLine); } if (outputLine == null) { throw new CCMCommandException("Command returned zero but there was no output"); } return outputLine; } The output of the System.err.println(...) is: Will run: [cmd.exe, /C, ccm, start, -nogui, -m, -q, -n ccm_admin, -r developer, -d /path/to/db/databasename, -s http://hostname:8400, -pw Passw0rd789$]

  • decrypt an encrypted value ?

    - by jim
I have an old Paradox database (I can convert it to Access 2007) which contains more then 200,000 records. This database has two columns: the first one is named "Word" and the second one is named "Mean". It is a dictionary database and my client wants to convert this old database to ASP.NET and SQL. However, we don't know what key or method is used to encrypt or encode the "Mean" column which is in the Unicode format. The software itself has been written in Delphi 7 and we don't have the source code. My client only knows the credentials for logging in to database. The problem is decoding the Mean column. What I do have is the compiled windows application and the Paradox database. This software can decode the "Mean" column for each "Word" so the method and/or key is in its own compiled code(.exe) or one of the files in its directory. For example, we know that in the following row the "Zymurgy" exactly means "???? ??? ????? ?? ???? ????, ????? ?????" since the application translates it like that. Here is what the record looks like when I open the database in Access: Word Mean Zymurgy 5OBnGguKPdDAd7L2lnvd9Lnf1mdd2zDBQRxngsCuirK5h91sVmy0kpRcue/+ql9ORmP99Mn/QZ4= Therefore we're trying to discover how the value in the Mean column is converted to "???? ??? ????? ?? ???? ????, ????? ?????". I think the "Mean" column value in above row is encoded in Base64 string format, but decoding the Base64 string does not yet result in the expected text. The extensions for files in the win app directory are dll, CCC, DAT, exe (other than the main app file), SYS, FAM, MB, PX, TV, VAL. Any kind of help is appreciated. Additional information: guys! the creators are not that stupid to save the values only in encoded form. they're definitely encrypted them. so i guess we have to look for the key.

  • Visual Studion 2008 App_Data defaults

Is it possible to use the App_Data folder in conjunction with SQL Server 2005? When I try it specifies Express even though I have changed the ToolsOptionsDatabaseData Connections to the correct server. I have downloaded SQLEXPR32_x86_ENU.exe Version 10.0.1600.22 file locally and have gone through 7 installs and deinstalls with a variety of different errors. I pretty much given up on Express and would like to find a workaround if it exists. Thanks Dennis Keith

  • CCNet web dashboard not showing anything when MSBuild fails

    - by cfdev9
I have a simple project in ccnet using svn & msbuild only. There is a 30 second trigger for svn and the msbuild file compiles a web application then copies it to a numbered build folder. When an error occurs in the msbuild task I get a failed build. When I view a failed build in the web dashboard I can see the 'Modifications since last build' section in the dashboard, but nothing else. I have to click on the build log and read through all of the xml in the error log to see what the error was. Why won't the dashboard show the errors from the build log? I haven't changed anything in the dashboard.config since installing ccnet. Dashboard Version : 1.5.7256.1 <project name="SimpleWebapp1"> <artifactDirectory>C:\Program Files\CruiseControl.NET\server\SimpleWebapp1\Artifacts\</artifactDirectory> <triggers> <intervalTrigger name="continuous" seconds="30" buildCondition="IfModificationExists" initialSeconds="5" /> </triggers> <sourcecontrol type="svn"> <executable>C:\Program Files\CollabNet\Subversion Client\svn.exe</executable> <trunkUrl>https://server:8443/svn/SimpleWebapp1/trunk</trunkUrl> <workingDirectory>D:\CCNetSandbox\SimpleWebapp1</workingDirectory> <username>username</username> <password>password</password> </sourcecontrol> <tasks> <msbuild> <executable> C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.5\MSBuild.exe </executable> <workingDirectory> D:\CCNetSandbox\SimpleWebapp1 </workingDirectory> <projectFile>SimpleWebapp1.build</projectFile> <buildArgs>/p:Configuration=Debug /p:Platform="Any CPU"</buildArgs> <targets>CompileLatest</targets> <timeout>900</timeout> <logger>ThoughtWorks.CruiseControl.MsBuild.XMLLogger, C:\Program Files\CruiseControl.NET\server\ThoughtWorks.CruiseControl.MsBuild.dll</logger> </msbuild> </tasks> <publishers> <xmllogger /> <buildpublisher> <publishDir>C:\Program Files\CruiseControl.NET\server\SimpleWebapp1\Artifacts\</publishDir> <useLabelSubDirectory>true</useLabelSubDirectory> </buildpublisher> </publishers> </project>

  • Register assemblies to GAC using InstallShield

I have to register multiple assemblies to GAC using InstallSheild and also I need the assemblies to be copied on the INSTALLDIR also. What's the best way to do it? Also I need to call regasm.exe for an assembly; can I do this using InstallShield? I really need a new 'component' for each assembly that has to be registered in GAC?
