  • Whats the maximum key length in NSDictionary?

    Hey there, I'm currently working on an app which displays a bunch of files in a table, and you can add and remove them and whatsoever. To prevent duplicates in the table, I'd like to create a NSDictionary using the files full path as keys for another NSDictionary which contains all the file information, but I am a little concerned about the maximum key length of NSDictionary, and also whether this solution would be performance killer or not...   • Does anyone here uses PHP-GTK? Is there a better alternative?

    I had made some questions regarding php-gtk(there are only 4 php-gtk tagged questions and 3 are mine) and I end up answering myself because no one answer them. I know is a strange language selection but I was attracted to it because it runs on several OS's and the fact that I can reuse some of my code (also the apps end up looking good and I can make little installers in NSIS that just rocks). Is there a better alternative, that is free(as freedom) and can run on several platforms?

    I am attempting to manage my projects a little better so I am looking at attempting to apply some of (eventually all) the features of scrum. Looking at user stories specifically the high level format seems to be: As a User I can Feature Description or Artifact is Doing Something How would I write "Upgrade the Database"? Is it simply Upgrade the Database? I think I am being thrown off as there is no specific actor/customer and that the customer is the IT department.

    As I know, from the relational database theory, a select statement without an order by clause should be considered has not particular order. But actually in SQL Server and Oracle (I've tested on those 2 platforms), if I query from a table without an order by clause multiple times, I always get the results in the same order. I had to make minor modifications to make it work till now.     JAVA - NETBEANS This is an IDE question I am always working with collapsed methods, because I want to be able to see my methods all together. This is a little time consuming because I have to use the mouse to scroll up to the declaration of the method and click on the - (minus) icon. And then respectively go to the method I want to work on and click on the + (plus) icon. Is there a way through a keyboard shortcut to do the collapse (and respectively the expand)?

    I've got a database with collation Danish_Norwegian_CS_AS and lots of varchar columns. I'd like to convert all this data to unicode, but haven't found a way to convert this data yet. If I've understood correctly, the encoding used is UCS-2 little endian. For example I've got a column containing 'PÃ¥l-Trygve' which is easily converted with C# to 'Pål-Trygve' using Encoding.Default.GetString(Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes("PÃ¥l-Trygve")); Is there a way to do this conversion in the microsoft SQL client?

    I'm mainly a Python programmer, and it is often described as being "executable pseudo-code". I have used a little bit of AppleScript, which seems to be the most English-like programming language I have ever seen, because almost operators can be words, and it lets you use "the" anywhere (for example, this stupid example I just came up with: firstnumber = 1 secondnumber = 2 if the firstnumber is equal to the secondnumber then set the sum to 5 end if is a valid AppleScript program. Are there any programming languages that are even more English-like than these?

  • Do you think it's a good idea to create a login box as a user control?

    Hi there guys! I'm starting out learning some ASP.Net programming and I'm going to be making a little community website for my friends and myself. I'm trying to pick up some good habits along the way. I was thinking of having a usercontrol and have that 'loginBox' shows the appropriate textboxes and login button, but also show his username when he is logged in. Do you think I should handle this as a user control or am I missing something as an ASP.Net newbie?
