  • jqtouch / google maps api v3 issue

    Hi everyone, I'm having a hard time triying to make jQtouch and Google Maps api V3 together. I've tried almost everything. It seems that the only source of information is here I checked every single post. I'm starting with jQuery and css... so there's a lot of stuff I don't understand. First of all, I'm using jQtouch framework to build a web app with google maps integration, the problem is that whenever I pan the map, strange flickering occurs. It's like jQtouch and the map are trying to fight for a callback. I'm using the latest revision out there. And have several bugs, regarding transition/animation functionality (since I don't wrap the map and all the element's divs within the #jqt wrapper) and css issues with some styling. Anyone has successfully achieve a functional setup build for this scenario? (google maps api v3 & jqtouch), I think is not necessary to paste you some code (But if you think is necessary please let me know and I'll do it), If you paste me a minimal example with a map (detailing jqtouch version, and modification to the styles/.js files), and some transition back and forth from the map to another div/section/page, you'll get the bounty. Thanks a lot in advance. And please, let me know if this is kind of 'legal' here, I mean, there's too loose information on the official wiki, and like 13 'solutions' but nothing concrete... I'm just triying to help anyone who step on in this problem in the future.

  • Preventing closure compiler from renaming certain variables

    I have a javascript file with a global object that must not be renamed (_gat from the Google Analytics async tracker). This object must not be renamed by the Google Closure Compiler as Google Analytics looks for a variable with this specific name. I've looked into the Javascript Doc notations that are mentioned: http://code.google.com/closure/compiler/docs/js-for-compiler.html - However, I cannot find anything regarding the "protection" of a variable. The problem exists no matter if I use simple or advanced compilation. How can I ensure that the _gat variable is not renamed?

  • Open source Java CMS for Google App Engine?

    I am looking for an open source Java CMS (Web CMS, actually) to run on Google App Engine. I have looked at related older questions on this topic (What CMS runs on Google AppEngine?, CMS over Google App Engine, with SEO etc.) but the problem is that they all largely list Python-based CMSes. Plus these questions are pretty old, and since GAE is a fast-moving target, I thought it might be worthwhile to ask again. I want a CMS for creating some websites (for myself and for others), but would rather not start writing one from scratch. A "good" (very subjective, I know) open source WCMS allows me to start using a product, while still being able to add to/extend the product/project. On the one hand I am looking for a somewhat mature product/project, on the other hand it's easier to start contributing to the development cycle of a young product/project (conflicting, I know :-). Here are some features that would be preferable: [X]HTML/XML/CSS based templating Ability to create multiple blogs Galleries Ability to create a "Downloads" section (is this pretty much standard?) Separate management for digital assets (images, PDFs, binary files etc.) Roles like "Administrator", "Editor", "Contributor" etc. (or their equivalents) Ability to move/reorganize pages Export to PDF Reformat content for printing Is the CMS you are about to suggest especially well-suited to publishing an online book? My idea is that while the book may be offered as a downloadable eBook, the latest, most current version will be the one available on the website.

    I'm working on learning GWT (total newb) and have a question regarding the Visualiztion API provided by Google. However I'm trying to do this in a composite UI using UiBinder.     I'm using a Google Analytics API Class in PHP made by Doug Tan to retrieve Analytics data from a specific profile. Speed. It takes alot of time to retrieve multiple types of data from the analytics database, especially if you're building different arrays with different metrics/dimensions. How can i speed up this process? Is it possible to store all the possible data in a cache so i am able to retrieve the data without loading it over and over again?

    Hello, I've used "Google AJAX Transliteration API" and it's going well with me. http://code.google.com/apis/ajaxlanguage/documentation/referenceTransliteration.html Currently I've a project that I need all input fields in every page (input & textarea tags) to be transliteratable, while these input fields differs from page to page (dynamic). As I know, I've to call makeTransliteratable(elementIds, opt_options) method in the API call to define which input fields to make transliteratable, and in my case here I can't predefine those fields manually.   • Full page reload on Post/Redirect/Get ignoring cache control

    I have a page that loads a lot of images, css and javascript. I've added a far future Expires header and set Cache-Control to public on these external dependencies so they should be cached. But every time I do a Post/Redirect/Get chrome tries to load these again. This behavior is very similar to reloading the page. I've added ETags and handle the If-None-Match header which helps a bit, but it still generates too many useless requests.     Hi, Just trying to get the new API for the goo.gl URL shortening service working on my iPhone, following the instructions on http://code.google.com/apis/urlshortener/v1/getting_started.html I'm set up and the API is enabled etc., but when I send a request in the recommended format: POST https://www.googleapis.com/urlshortener/v1/url Content-Type: application/json {"longUrl": "http://www.google.com/"} I get an error returned. The error is exactly the one listed on that page in the errors section for if you haven't passed in a longURL param. This makes me think that I'm not setting up the body of the POST request properly.   • Lazy non-modifiable list in Google Collections

    I was looking for a decent implementation of a generic lazy non-modifiable list implementation to wrap my search result entries. The unmodifiable part of the task is easy as it can be achieved by Collections.unmodifiableList() so I only need to sort out the the lazy part. Surprisingly, google-collections doesn't have anything to offer; while LazyList from Apache Commons Collections does not support generics. I have found an attempt to build something on top of google-collections but it seems to be incomplete (e.g. does not support size()), outdated (does not compile with 1.0 final) and requiring some external classes, but could be used as a good starting point to build my own class. Is anybody aware of any good implementation of a LazyList? If not, which option do you think is better: write my own implementation, based on google-collections ForwardingList, similar to what Peter Maas did; write my own wrapper around Commons Collections LazyList (the wrapper would only add generics so I don't have to cast everywhere but only in the wrapper itself); just write something on top of java.util.AbstractList; Any other suggestions are welcome.

  • Page Lifecycle - Using FindControl to reference a control created programatically during page load

    Hi, I'm creating some text boxes on my form programatically which I need to reference later using FindControl. I've put the FindControl instruction in the page load method after the code which creates them but get an error: "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." I assume this is because the textbox controls are not created until later in the lifecycle and therefore cannot be referenced from within Page_Load. Can someone advise where in my code-behind I would need to place the FindControl instruction so that it can find these programatically created text boxes?

  • Refresh a Div that has a Google ad inside it

    Hello all, I have a div that holds a google ad. My website is mostly AJAX and there is no need for a browser refresh. That means my ads will not refresh either, which isnt ideal, a user staring at one ad all day. So I wanted a way to refresh a particular div on a page. I found many solutions but they didnt work. For example, using JQuery's html function: $("#ads").html("google ad script here"); This managed to refresh the whole page no idea how. I can also make an AJAX request to a HTML page that contains the google ad but I am guessing it will have the same effect as the above attempt. I do not want to use iFrames. Is there any other option open to me? My pea brain can not think of anymore. :) Thanks you for any help. EDIT: It is allowed since I will be initiating the refresh only when a user clicks a link. A prime example is Yahoo Mail - their new AJAX mailbox uses this same method, when a user clicks a link then a new ad is shown.

  • google maps not working anymore at the drop of a hat

    2 days ago, I was working on a project that involves google maps. The website showed the maps on the pages just fine. Now, I come back to my workstation, nothing has changed, expect for the fact that the google maps won't show up anymore. The code is identical, nobody has touched my machine since I was gone, I've checked the html, everything is perfect and still this isn't working... The Javascript console is giving no errors and the code is identical to a backup I make everytime I call it a day. 2 days ago it was working, today it isn't. I've even copied the source code, put it into an html file and tried that, but the same result. I'm at a loss here.   • pluto or jetspeed on google app engine?

    I am trying to build something "portlet server"-ish on the google app engine. (as open source) I'd like to use the JSR168/286 standards, but I think that the restrictions of the app engine will make it somewhere between tricky and impossible. Has anyone tried to run jetspeed or an application that uses pluto internally on the google app engine? Based on my current knowledge of portlets and the google app engine I'm anticipating these problems: A war file with portlets is from the deployment standpoint more or less a complete webapp (yes, I know that it doesn't really work without a portal server). The war file may contain it's own web.xml etc. This makes deployment on the app engine rather difficult, because the apps are not visible to each other, so all portlet containing archives need to be included in the war file of the deployed "app engine based portal server". The "portlets" are (at least in liferay) started as permanent servlet processes, based on their portlet.xmls and web.xmls which is located in the same spot for every portlet archive that is loaded. I think this may be problematic in the app engine, because everything is in one big "web app", so it may be tricky to access the portlet.xmls from each archive. This prevents a 100% compatibility in my opinion. Is here anyone who has any experience with the combination of portlets and the app engine? Do you think it's feasible to modify jetspeed, pluto or any other portlet container to be able to run it on the app engine?

    I am developing application in flex 3 which interacts with the Google feeds to produce my results. The URL to which i want to send request is something like this http://books.google.com/books/feeds/volumes?q=football+-soccer&start-index=11&max-results=10 Now i can send and receive results with q parameter, but in the next two parameters has a '-' (start-index and max-results). I am using HTTPService to send the requeset like this. SearchService.url = "http://books.google.com/books/feeds/volumes"; SearchService.method = "GET"; SearchService.contentType = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded" Here SearchService is the HTTPService var params:Object = new Object(); params.q = searchText; params.start-index = 11; params.max-results = 100; service.SearchService.send(params); Now my flex IDE throws me a error stating 'Cannot assign a non-reference value'. Only if i send the request with this parameters, i could put pagination in my application. So how can i send HTTPService request with '-' in the URL parameters?

    The Navigation framework in Windows Mobile 7 is a cut down version of what is in Silverlight. You can only navigate to a Uri and not pass in a view. Since the NavigationService is tied to the View, how do people get this to fit into MVVM. For example: public class ViewModel : IViewModel { private IUnityContainer container; private IView view; public ViewModel(IUnityContainer container, IView view) { this.container = container; this.view = view; } public ICommand GoToNextPageCommand { get { ... } } public IView { get { return this.view; } } public void GoToNextPage() { // What do I put here. } } public class View : PhoneApplicationPage, IView { ... public void SetModel(IViewModel model) { ... } } I am using the Unity IOC container. I have to resolve my view model first and then use the View property to get hold of the view and then show it. However using the NavigationService, I have to pass in a view Uri. There is no way for me to create the view model first. Is there a way to get around this.

  • Google App Engine, parsedatetime and TimeZones

    Hey guys, I'm working on a Google App Engine / Django app and I encountered the following problem: In my html I have an input for time. The input is free text - the user types "in 1 hour" or "tomorrow at 11am". The text is then sent to the server in AJAX, which parses it using this python library: http://code.google.com/p/parsedatetime/. Once parsed, the server returns an epoch timestamp of the time. Here is the problem - Google App Engine always runs on UTC. Therefore, lets say that the local time is now 11am and the UTC time is 2am. When I send "now" to the server it will return "2am", which is good because I want the date to be received in UTC time. When I send "in 1 hour" the server will return "3am" which is good, again. However, when I send "at noon" the server will return "12pm" because it thinks that I'm talking about noon UTC - but really I need it to return 3am, which is noon for the request sender.. I can pass on the TZ of the browser that sends the request, but that wont really help me - the parsedatetime library wont take a timezone argument (correct me if I'm wrong). Is there a walk around this? Maybe setting the environments TZ somehow? Thanks!

    Hi, I'm trying to figure out how to boost my NFS speed and php uploads. File is uploaded to the webserver's local tmp dir With PHP I copy the file userxxx.zip to the NFS With PHP I extract the userxxx.zip on the NFS to another dir on the NFS. What I'm finding is the file is in Step 3, the file is being read through the NFS by the web server, processed by the web server, and uploaded back across the NFS. Speeds as expected are very slow. Might a possible solution be to get the Fileserver to extract the zip? a) Webserver copies the file to the NFS b) Webserver makes a web service call to the Fileserver c) Fileserver can now unzip the file like it's local and the speeds should be much faster. I would appreciate any suggestion anyone how people have approached this problem. (I'm aware that php ZipArchive() is very slow, and I'll likely use java or php exec unzip to speed it up) Thanks
