  • Upgraded to 12.04 now wifi doesn't work

    My laptop's wifi stopped working when I upgraded to Ubuntu 12.04 (wired works). I just reinstalled 12.04 over my old 12.04 on which wifi didn't work either in an attempt to restore any settings I may have accidentally changed, but it still doesn't work. I also used a wired connection to install updates in case this bug has been fixed, but it has not.   • installer can't find partition, but fdisk can find them

But, the installer can't not find my partition in my harddisk. But, the fdisk can find them. Can you help me?   • asp.net mvc, IIS 6 vs IIS7.5, and integrated windows authentication causing javascript errors?

    This is a very strange one. I have an asp.net MVC 1 app. Under IIS6, with no anon access - only integrated windows auth - every thing works fine. I have the following on most of my Foo pages: <% using (Html.BeginForm()) { %> Show All: <%= Html.CheckBox("showAll", new { onClick = "$(this).parent('form:first').submit();" })%> <% } %> Clicking on the checkbox causes a post, the page is reloaded, everything is good. When I look at the access logs, that's what I see, with one oddity - the js library is requested during the page first request, but not for any subsequent page requests. Log looks like: GET / 401 GET / 200 GET /Content/Site.css 304 GET /Scripts/jquery-1.3.2.min.js 401 GET /Scripts/jquery-ui-1.7.2.custom.min.js 401 GET /Scripts/jquery.tablesorter.min.js 401 GET /Scripts/jquery-1.3.2.min.js 304 GET /Scripts/jquery-ui-1.7.2.custom.min.js 304 GET /Scripts/jquery.tablesorter.min.js 304 GET /Content/Images/logo.jpg 401 GET /Content/Images/logo.jpg 304 GET /Foo 401 GET /Foo 200 POST /Foo/Delete 302 GET /Foo/List 200 POST /Foo/List 200 This corresponds to home page, click on "Foo", delete a record, click a checkbox (which causes the 2nd POST). Under IIS7.5, it sometimes fails - the click on the check box doesn't cause a postback, but there are no obvious reasons why. I've noticed under IIS7.5 that every single page request re-issues the requests for the js libraries - the first one a 401, followed by either a 200 (OK) or 304 (not modified), as opposed to the above log extract where that only happened during the 1st request. Is there any way to eliminate the 401 requests? Could a timing issue have something to do with the click being ignored? Would increasing the number of concurrent connections help? Any other ideas? I'm at a bit of a loss to explain this.

Internet Information Services (IIS) Any ideas, nothing revealings in logs (other than 500 errors), this is pretty much all of I have to work with. The script has read and execute privileged for the internet guest account; and, I've added read/execute privileges to the whole D:\PHP.     In VS2008, you could enable right-margin marks by creating a string registry entry named Guides under HKCU\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\9.0\Text Editor. It also worked with the express editions: replace VisualStudio with VCExpress or VCSExpress. The value I had was: RGB(192,192,192) 80, 100 which gave me light gray lines at columns 80 and 100. I've just tried (and failed) to set them up in VC++2010 Express and VC#2010 Express; does anyone know if they're still supported?

  • moving to a new dedicated server and need advice on the new setup

    I currently have a dedicated server that we have outgrown and we are moving to another server. Our current setup was a 8gb W2008R2 server running a W2008R2 IIS virtual machine using VMWare. We are moving to a 2 cpu 24 gb server with W2012 R2 on Hyper-V. On our virtual machine we are running iis 7.5 and sql server. Sql Server seems to want to eat up all the memory so I had to cap it at 2gb, which doesn't seem sufficient. My question is, when I move the virtual machine to the new server, should I create 2 virtual machines, one for sql server and one for IIS? Or should I leave them both on the same virtual machine? Or even, put the Sql Server on the dedicated server and run the IIS in the vm? I'd like some input on how this should be done, I've not got the experience needed to make the right call. Thanks!

And have the URL schema be like this: app.company.com/clientA -- would point to ClientA website in IIS app.company.com/clientB -- would point to ClientB website in IIS Do you guys have any pointers or best practices for my scenario?

    I'm looking for some configuration advice. I have a need for a load balanced windows environment with shared media across all instances that are hosting the app. The best explanation i can give is that there will be multiple Windows 2008 server with IIS hosting the app going through an ELB to load balance. Users must be able to upload content (images, video etc...) to the site that will be hosted. When a user uploads media it needs to be kept on a shared location so all windows IIS instances can access the files, I can't host the files on S3 because of the app architecture so they need to be in a place where all IIS server will have access. In addition I need to run an update each IIS server instance that updates a local memory cache when SQL data is updated. I was thinking of a configuration like this: [ELB] - [Win 2008 IIS (multiple servers)] - [Win 2008 File & SQL Server(possibly RDS?)] Does this configuration make sense?     Currently, we have an IIS server as our primary web server. We are implementing an Apache server in its place, but still need to have the IIS server accessible. Typically, this is a simple thing, because Apache2 can proxy a subdomain to this server. Our problem, however, is this: we are using dotnetCharting on the IIS server, and the licensing is tied to the domain name. In order to get dotnetCharting to work, another license will have to be purchased. My question is, can Apache2 proxy a subdirectory? For example, can 'www.example.com/subdir' point to the IIS server? It seems like it shouldn't be impossible, but I can't seem to find a solution for this. Any help would be super. Thanks! -Jer

  • Is it possible to unstick a remote IIS ASP server after an exception hangs the session?

    I have been coding an app in classic ASP that accesses 2 Access databases. I had a page I was working on throw an exception, which is normal during development and causes no lasting problems. This time however, after the exception any attempt to open either of the databases would freeze the session with an infinite script timeout. If I delete the session cookie I an able to access ASP pages again until I try to open the database again. The database that was open when the exception was thrown is left open. There is a LDB lock file and I can't rename or delete either the LDB or MDB file, though I can download the MDB file with FTP. The 2nd access database is not open but any attempt to read this also hangs the session. Accessing HTML pages is fine. The site is hosted with Hostway and they are not interested ("Coding problem = Your problem" even though it leaves my site dead in the water, I suspect until the next reboot, whenever that might be). Here is the dump from the relevant ASP page that threw the exception: Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0115' Unexpected error /translatestats.asp A trappable error (C0000005) occurred in an external object. The script cannot continue running. Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0240' Script Engine Exception /translatestats.asp A ScriptEngine threw exception 'C0000005' in 'IActiveScript::Close()' from 'CActiveScriptEngine::FinalRelease()'. Is there any way I can unstick the site / force close the database remotely ?

  • Is it possible to write an IIS URL Rewrite Rule that examines content of HTTP Post?

    I need to split a portion of functionality away from a legacy ISAPI dll onto another solution (ASP.NET MVC most likely). IIS7's URL Rewrite sounded like a perfect candidate for the job, but it turns out I cannot find a way to configure the rules the way I need. I need to write a rule that examines the content of the HTTP post for a particular value. i.e. <form method="post" action="legacy_isapi.dll"> <input name="foo" /> </form> if (Request.Form["foo"] == "bar") Context.RewritePath("/some_other_url/on_the_same_machine/foo/bar"); As a proof of concept, I was able to create an IHttpModule that examines context.Request.Form collection and performs a rewrite when certain parameters are present. I installed this module in my website, and it works. Rather than a custom module, however, I'd rather extend the existing URL Rewrite module to support examining the content of the HTTP Post as one of its rules. Is this possible?

  • NTLM, Kerberos and F5 switch issues

    I'm supporting an IIS based application that is scaled out into web and application servers. Both web and applications run behind IIS. The application is NTLM capable when IIS is configured to authenticate via Kerberos. It's been working so far without a glitch. Now, I'm trying to bring in 2 F5 switches, 1 in front of the web and another in front of the application servers. 2 F5 instances (say ips 185 & 186) are sitting on a LINUX host. F5 to F5 looks for a NAT IP (say ips 194, 195 and 196). Created a DNS entry for all IPs including NAT and ran a SETSPN command to register the IIS service account to be trusted at HTTP, HOST and domain level. With the Web F5 turned on and with eachweb server connecting to a cardinal app server, when the user connects to the Web F5 domain name, trust works and user authenticates without a problem. However, when app load balancer is turned on and web servers are pointed to the new F5 app domain name, user gets 401. IIS log shows no authenticated username and shows a 401 status. Wireshark does show negotiate ticket header passed into the system. Any ideas or suggestions are much appreciated. Please advice.

    Hello! I tried to catch 404 errors like this... But when i try to load http://localhost:11415/wfwe/wefwe/ - all good work. When i try to load http://localhost:11415/order/ - fail (with error The RouteData must contain an item named 'action' with a non-empty string value.) When i try to load http://localhost:11415/Images/ - fail with error File does not exist My routes: routes.Add("Order", new LowercaseRoute("Order/{action}/{id}", new RouteValueDictionary( new { controller = "Order", action = "", id = UrlParameter.Optional }), new MvcRouteHandler())); routes.Add("NotFound", new LowercaseRoute("{*url}", new RouteValueDictionary( new { controller = "Pages", action = "Http404", }), new MvcRouteHandler())); Why route NotFound - don't catch all 404 error. And When i try to upload to my hosting and try 404 i get this error (NotFound route not work at all) 404 - File or directory not found. The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. I work with this all day, but nothig... please help me

    I have a bare-bone express application, exactly the one that is created with the express command. I have installed socket.io and attached it to my server, like this: var app = express(), server = http.createServer(app), io = io.listen(server); server.listen(8000); Now, I also have the routes files, which is called like this: app.get('/', routes.index); Inside this module I have the following function: exports.index = function(req, res){ socket.emit('news', { message: "foo" }); }; This obviously leads to a 500 reference error, because the routes file is an exportable module, and obviously has no idea what the socket is, as it is located in the app.js file. Is there a way I can access this socket object from this, or any other file? Please note that it is attached to the express generated app. extra: what about getting/setting session data? Thanks in advance.

    I am attempting to setup a RD Gateway for a client. When I first set it up I noticed that IIS did not have the 'Defualt Web Site' so I created it and assigned it an id of 1 and set the bindings to port 80 and 443. I then re installed the RD Gateway role with the idea that it would then configure IIS correctly. It did not. How would I go about making sure a re install of the Remote Desktop Gateway role configures IIS correctly? I cannot re install IIS as there is a site that is already on there that I cannot take down

  • IIS URL Rewriting: How can I reliably keep relative paths when serving multiple files?

    My WebApp is part CMS, and when I serve up an HTML page to the user it typically contains relative paths in a.href and img.src attributes. I currently have them accessed by urls like: ~/get-data.aspx/instance/user/page.html -- where instance indicates the particular instance for the report and "user/page.html" is a path created by an external application that generates the content. This works pretty reliably with code in the application's BeginRequest method that translates the text after ".aspx" into a query string, then uses Context.RewritePath(). So far so good, but I've just tripped over something that took me by surprise: it appears that if any of the query string ("instance/user/page.html") happens to contain a plus sign ("+") the BeginRequest method is never called, and a 404 is immediately returned to the user. So my question is two-fold: Am I correct in my belief that a "+" would cause the 404, and if so are there other things that could cause similar problems? Is there a way around that problem (perhaps a different method than BeginRequest)? Is there a better way to preserve relative URL paths for generated content than what I'm using? I'd rather not require site admins to install a 3rd party rewrite tool if I can help it.
