  • Saving highscores coupled to a facebook account

    I want to offer a "highscore" list for friends in my app (at this point iPhone/iPad), so that if the user connected to facebook, he will get a list with his/her friends scores. Connecting is easy, retrieving friends is easy, but figuring out the best way to store the scores is not. As it seems I need to the store the scores on my own server server, no big deal. But what is considered a reasonable safe way to transfer the data? When communicating with facebook, authentication is clear - but communicating with my server basically anyone could post scores for another user if I send user id and score. Obfuscation might help a bit, but is there any better way to make sure that the data comes from the fb-logged-in person? Scores can also go down, so changing scores for other persons won't necessary help them. Thanks :)

  • uniimageview not updating after views tranistion

    Hi I have one main view where I display an image, in the method viewDidLoad: ballRect = CGRectMake(posBallX, 144, 32.0f, 32.0f); theBall = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:ballRect]; [theBall setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"ball.png"]]; [self.view addSubview:theBall]; [laPalla release]; Obviously, the value of posBallX is defined and then update via a custom method call many times in the same class. theBall.frame = CGRectMake(posBallX, 144, 32, 32); Everything works, but when I go to another view with [self presentModalViewController:viewTwo animated:YES]; and come back with [self presentModalViewController:viewOne animated:YES]; the image is displayed correctly after the method viewDidLoad is called (I retrieve the values with NSUserDefaults) but no more in the second method. In the NSLog I can even see the new posBallX updating correctly, but the Image is simply no more shown... The same happens with a Label as well, which should print the value of posBallX. So, things are just not working if I come back to the viewOne from the viewTwo... Any idea??????? Thanks so much!

  • Keyboard blocking my view

    I have a UIView with another UIView inside it. On the inside UIView there is a textbox which I want to fill in. When I try to fill it in the keyboard blocks my view: The UIViewController has the following containerView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:[UIScreen mainScreen].bounds]; self.view=containerView; //The apropriate releases etc are further on... When I touch it, the keyboard comes up as expected, but blocks the textbox I'm trying to fill in. How can I force the view to slide up? The front view OptionsFront * fv = [[OptionsFront alloc] initWithFrame:[UIScreen mainScreen].bounds]; [containerView addSubview:frontView]; In the front view is a subview CGRect bounds = CGRectMake(0.0f, 210.0f, 280.0f, 130.0f); sv = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:bounds]; [self addSubview:sv]; //added to frontView In sv is a textbox near the botton: rect = CGRectMake(70.0f, 20.0f, 100.0f, 27.0f); cf = [self createTextField_Rounded:rect holder:@"+ve"]; [sv addSubview:cf]; So cf happens to be near the bottom of the page. I expected that when I select it, the whole display would move up, but the keyboard just moves up and blocks it. What can I do?   • How do I add two alternating UITableViews to an existing UINavigationController view?

    I'm new to iPhone development and I am writing an iPhone app that needs two different table views, which are selectable using a button bar or tab bar. These table views are both the same size, but only cover about two thirds of the screen from the bottom up. The top portion of the screen remains the same when either of these tables is displayed. I'd also like to animate (flip) these views when the user selects one or the other. The view that these two tables will be displayed on is the detail view of my app where the user has already selected an item from the primary screen's table. I'm using a UINavigationController to manage the primary and detail views and I have this working. I also have the first of these two detail tables working as part of my detail view, but I think it makes more sense to isolate the code for these two tables and not duplicate all of the code for the part of the detail view that doesn't change. I don't really care how these two table views are created (either in code or via IB). I've tried several things and I can't seem to figure it out. Any help or ideas (with sample code) would be greatly appreciated!

  • EXC_BAD_ACCESS when trying to release an ABRecordRef

    I've got the following class that is a wrapper around an ABPerson (ABRecordRef): @interface Recipient : NSObject { ABRecordRef person; } - (id)initWithPerson:(ABRecordRef)person; @end @implementation - (id)initWithPerson:(ABRecordRef)_person { if(self = [super init]) person = CFRetain(_person); return self; } - (void)dealloc { if(person) CFRelease(person); [super dealloc]; } @end I've left some of the methods out, but they aren't relevant to this question. Everything works fine, except I get an EXC_BAD_ACCESS on the if(person) CFRelease(person); line. Why does this happen? I'm not calling CFRelease or CFRetain at all anywhere else in my app.

  • Urban Airship - not receivng push notifications on device?

    I just installed everything to my app and tried to push, but no messages appear. The token for my device is saved so that's working. When I push, the website says it sent, but no message are received on the device. Right now I'm using a production certificate for push notifications, with a developer provision and not the distribution certificate. I tried cleaning the build and reinstalling but no luck since an extra app was installed from the same one. I used the code that is on the sample file tutorial, I think that's all the details. Don't know what to do next.

  • iphone Memory gets freed in debug mode but not in release mode

    I have been testing my iPhone debug build on both my device and simulator with activity monitor, leaks, and object allocations. The code is pretty well optimized so I have decided to test the release build. I went into the project Menu and set the target build to be release, I then added the necessary header paths that my app is using to the headers search paths and ran the release build on the device with the above mentioned instruments. What I have noticed now is that memory that was freed when I used the debug build does not get freed when using release version. There is one place in my App that I remove a scroll view with some images which frees up a significant amount of memory when I use the debug build, but no memory is freed up in that place when I use the release version. Does someone have any ideas where I need to start looking at? did I setup my release build wrong?

  • Facebook writing on a wall problem - retrieves only null value.

    hi all friends, I am making a game application in that I want to pass my score on wall of face book. I've completed all the things (the log in and message passing part) but when I passes the score via global variable, I am getting only null as a value and not the score that I want. Is there any way to pass data or string to Face book and write on a wall? When the user selects an item on the table view, I would like the parent's view to change in a navigational manner. For those of you that have an iPad, this would be akin to the "Settings" app. But I guess in the "Settings" app, the right pane is composed of a grouped table view right?   • iPhone RSS thumbnail

    I have a simple RSS reader. Stories are downloaded, put into a UITableView, and when you click it, each story loads in a UIWebView. It works great. Now though, I'd like to incorporate an image on the left side (like you'd see in the YouTube app). However, since my app pulls from an RSS feed, I can't simply specify image X to appear in row X because row X will be row Y tomorrow, and things will get out of order, you know? I am currently pulling from a YouTube RSS feed, and can get the video title, description, publication date, but I'm stuck as to how to pull the little thumbnail besides each entry in the feed. As you can probably tell, I'm a coding newbie (this being my first application other than a Hello World app) and I'm getting so frustrated by my own lack of knowledge. Thanks!
