  I am using Ajax AsynFile upload..Page is getting postback after the UploadComplete method .. Is there anyways to prevent this full page postback? i have put the control in UpdatePanel, but the page is getting full postback rather than for the panel contents alone.

• Why does a ModalPopupExtender fail when using SSL?

  I have created a modal popup using the ModalPopupExtender in Microsoft's AJAX 1.0 for .NET 2.0. It works great when the page doesn't isn't being accessed through SSL (http://) however the link to close the popup fails to fire if accessing the page through https://. Is the ModalPopupExtender at blame? Is it a "Feature" of SSL to block popups, or is it something else I haven't though of? • Implementing google dashboard type interface in asp.net

  I'm looking at implementing a Google IG type dashboard in a .net app. There are a number of options I've found to do this, and i'm trying to establish what is going to be the best to use, in terms of speed, versatility etc. So far the options I am looking at are either to use asp.net webparts and .net Ajax, this would make it quicker to build, but I'm concerned this is going to make the application bulky and slow, or using JQuery, and either .net MVC or Webforms, to custom build an interface. Does anyone have any thoughts on what the best option may be, or any options I may have missed? All I want to do here is to allow users to customise a dashboard with a number of components (which will be user controls). I do also have access to Telerik controls, but I'm not sure if they would be any use here.

• Github file size limit changed 6/18/13. Can't push now

  How does this change as of June 18, 2013 affect my existing repository with a file that exceeds that limit? I last pushed 2 months ago with a large file. I have a large file that I have removed locally but I can not push anything now. I get a "remote error" ... remote: error: File cron_log.log is 126.91 MB; this exceeds GitHub's file size limit of 100 MB I added the file to .gitignore after original push... • Calling a webservice through jquery cross domain

  hi there, i am new to jquery so please bare with me, I am trying to connect to a .asmx webservice (cross domain) by means of client-side script now actually i am having problems to use POST since it is being blocked and in firebug is giving me: OPTIONS Add(method name) 500 internal server error. I bypassed this problem by using GET instead, it is working fine when not inputting any parameters but is giving me trouble with parameters. please see below for the code. The following is a simple example I am trying to make work out with the use of parameters.   Hi, I'm trying to 'AJAX-ify' my site in order to improve the UI experience. In terms of performance, I'm also trying to get rid of the UpdatePanel. I've come across a great article over at Encosia showing a way of posting using PageMethods. My question is, how secure are page methods in a production environment? Being public, can anyone create a JSON script to POST directly to the server, or are there cross-domain checks taking place? My PageMethods would also write the data into the database (after filtering). I'm using Forms Authentication in my pages and, on page load, it redirects unauthenticated users to the login page. Would the Page Methods on this page also need to check authentication if the user POSTs directly to the method, or is that authentication inherited for the entire page? (Essentially, does the entire page cycle occur even if a user has managed to post only to the PageMethod)? Thanks

  I want to use tags for a model in my Rails application, and I'd like to have the same kind of tag selection mechanism that Stack Overflow has when asking a question. I.e. I type in 'rails' and it drops down a list of tags that include 'rails', and I can go on to add more tags from there. Is there a plugin that can do this? I'm comfortable putting together the tag model and migrations myself, that isn't an issue. I just need something to handle the AJAX and javascript. I'm using prototype and Rails 2.3.

• Passing jQuery object and WebMethod return value to an OnSuccess function

  I am calling a WebMethod from this code: if($(this).attr("checked")) { .. MyWebMethod(variable1, variable2, onSuccessFunction); } The MyWebMethod returns an integer, and I want to set $(this).attr("id") of the jQuery object above to the returned integer. Basically, I'm trying to do the equivalent of an MVC Ajax.ActionLink...AjaxOptions {UpdateTargetID =...} However, I can't figure out how to get both a reference to $(this) as well as the returned value. For example, if I do: MyWebMethod(variable1, variable2, onSuccessFunction($(this))); I can succesfully manipulate the jQuery object, but obviously it doesn't have the return value from the MyWebMethod. Alternatively, the first code block with a method signature of onSuccessFunction(returnValue) has the correct return value from MyWebMethod, but no concept of the jQuery object I'm looking for. Am I going about this all wrong?

• IE9 syntax on jquery crossbrowser with jsonp and FF, Chrome

  I have the following code and i have a problem in ensuring part of it is used when a IE browser is used, and remove it when any other browser is used: $.ajax({ url: 'http://mapit.mysociety.org/areas/'+ulo, type: 'GET', cache: false, crossDomain: true, dataType: 'jsonp', success: function(response) { This works fine in IE9 because I have put the dataType as jsonp. But this will not work on Chrome or FF. So I need to remove the dataType. I tried this: <!--[IF IE]> dataType: 'jsonp', <![endif]--> But it did not work. It's worth noting, it does not need the dataType set when in FF or Chrome as it's json. Whats the correct syntax to have this work ? Thanks Andrew

• Flash to PHP base64 encode/decode

  I'm using AS3 to base64 encode a JPG and pass it to Javascript. I'm attempting to use AJAX to pass that base64 encoded string to PHP and have PHP decode it. (I know I could send it back to Flash and Flash could decode it and send it to PHP, but I'm trying to eliminate the need for Flash on the decoding end). It appears that AS3's encodeToBase64String() function and and PHP's base64_decode() function do not use the same algorithm, as PHP evaluates it as a base64 encoded object, but does not seem to output it properly. Is there a way to rectify this problem? Note: Please no posts about not needing Javascript. Javascript is a necessary step for reasons not detailed here.

• Asyncronously receiving data in an ASP.NET MVC application

  I'm looking for the best way to constantly check if data has been sent to our ASP.NET MVC application from a server. I would like to asynchronously check for data and update the view when data has been read. I'm currently using a TcpClient to make a connection, and making the connection in the inherited custom base controller. Currently though I have to refresh the page for the updating of the view to take place. Would there be a proper AJAX solution? or do I need to move the connection to the ActionMethod?

• Upload large files in .NET

  I've done a good bit of research to find an upload component for .NET that I can use to upload large files, has a progress bar, and can resume the upload of large files. I've come across some components like AjaxUploader, SlickUpload, and PowUpload, to name a few. Each of these options cost money and only PowUpload does the resumable upload, but it does it with a java applet. I'm willing to pay for a component that does those things well, but if I could write it myself that would be best. I have two questions: Is it possible to resume a file upload on the client without using flash/java/Silverlight? Does anyone have some code or a link to an article that explains how to write a .NET HTTPHandler that will allow streaming upload and an ajax progress bar?   Hi , I am looking at validation of some text boxes for somethings like required, minlength, max length, email etc... I am able to get examples that work fine on submit button on page. I want to do this validation on a button click which will only raise a ajax request and not submit of page. On internet all the sample is found was with submit button. Is there a easy way to change this code a little bit o make it work for non submit button click or any new jquery or java plugin to do the same. I am using the jquery.validation.js for now. • Problem with the way the Ajax Control Toolkit TabContainer sets the default submit button

  We have an Ajax Control Toolkit TabContainer containing some textboxes for doing a search. When you keypress inside one of the textboxes, the TabContainer sets the default button to be the button immediately following the tab control. This is fine because that's the search button. The problem occurs after the button is clicked and results returned. Now there is no default button, and keypress does nothing. Any suggestions?

• .net Ajax calendarExtender cuts of saturday's in IE7 (works fine in firefox)

  I was having this problem in IE7 where the saturdays appear to be missing from the calendar. It displays fine in Firefox and a few people have suggested that it could be my other stylesheets messing it up so i am now using a custom calendar CSS theme and i'm still having the same problem. • Change the get parameters in the address bar in jquery

  when you search on yelp, by adding additional search parameters the page does not reload. I think the results are changed based on ajax, however when you click on one of the restaruants and go back to the previous page. All of the parameters are still there. I noticed the address bars change as the parameters change. I found http://www.asual.com/jquery/address/ but it seems to add # at the end of the url. Is there a way to make it simply like index.php?xyz=1 without refreshing the page

  I have an ASP.NET web page that displays a variety of fields that need to be updated best on certain conditions, button clicks and so on. We've implemented AJAX, using the ASP.NET Update Panel to avoid visible postbacks. Originally there was only one area that needed this ability ... that soon expanded to other fields. Now my web page has multiple UpdatePanels. I am wondering if it would be best to just wrap the entire form in a single UpdatePanel, or keep the individual UpdatePanels. What are the best practices for using the ASP.NET UpdatePanel?
