  I am planning to develop for WP7 and Android. What is the better way to display (and traverse) 3D scene/models in term of LoD? The data is planned to be island-wide (Singapore). 1) Real-Time Dynamic Level of Detail Terrain Rendering 2) Discrete LoD 3) Others? And please advice some considerations/algorithms/resources/source codes. something like LoD book also Okay. Side note: I am a beginner in this area but pretty well-versed in C/C++. • How can i add an image in html email from lotus domino agent?

  i want to add a simple image into an email which i want to send from a lotus agent. I paste below a part of the code: StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); sb.append("<div><img src=\"http://goo.gl/lziMZN\"></div>"); email.setHTMLPart(sb.toString()); email.send("[email protected]"); I also tried to use an image from my image resources in the nsf. Whatever i tried i get an empty image area (browser-no-image icon) in the email i receive. I also have checked "Allow restricted operations" in my agent. I would prefer it if there is a solution to use an image from my resources and not an external link. Any solutions?

  This question is related to: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3027705/experiences-with-language-converters I just can tell I searched the web for quite a few days but hardly found anything about somewhat "proper" test in access. I found some framworks like accessunit but that's Unit testing, what abouut the forms? What about the different reports etc. A counter-example in "testing" is e.g the rails or Seaside or Smalltalk area. Where testing is thought of as integral part. But I have not found anything comparable for Access based solutions. Maybe some of you know better?

• How to rotate an image properly in JPanel (Java)

  Hi guys, I'm working on rotating a loaded image. I set the graphics on a JPanel and then use standard AffineTransform in order to rotate it, say, 45 degrees. Unfortunately, the image is being cut, if it exceeds the panel area. How may I force JPanel to add scrolls to itself (while loading an image file, I would like to adjust the size of JPanel by adding the scrolls, without adjusting the size of JFrame). Or, in other words, how to correctly rotate the whole image? Thank you in advance for the reply!

• C# .NET Controls for docked tool windows?

  I was using Qt with C++ to develop my GUI applications, but I have recently switched to try out C# .NET as it is much easier to do what I need to. I was wondering what controls I need to be using for a few things and if they exist for C# .NET or if I need to do something custom/special. If you look in that screenshot, I want to do something similar to how they have each tool window grouped into its own docking area with the option of closing it or breaking it out of the layout so it can be dragged. I am talking about the tool windows titled "Groups", "Resources", "Tools", etc. I also want to make these tool windows stay in the same place when the main window is resized. Qt has spring like widgets that will let you create a UI that keeps its shape when the window is resized. Does anything like this exist in C# .NET?

• WPF TextBlock Overflow Text to the Left

  As background I have a very long ID that too long to display in the given area of the TextBlock. The interesting portion of the ID is the end, that is the rightmost portion. What I would like to do is have the TextBlock, rather than the text overflowing right and cutting off the rightmost portion, overflow left and cutoff the leftmost portion. That is given the ID 123456 and a TextBlock with enough space to hold four characters, to get the TextBlock to display 3456 rather than 1234 as it does by default. I could manually trim my ID for display, but given a variable spaced font that's not ideal. So is there someway to get WPF do change the overflow direction?

• iPhone - Image overlay MapKit framework?

  I can see with iOS4 you can now tile an image on google maps (Been looking at the TileMap example from apple). This is great as this is what I want to do, but from what I can see I need to know the GEO reference of the image so I can raster the images with the appropriate zoom levels, etc. What I have is an artist image, which is a map of a specific area and I want to overlay this image on google maps. Am I missing something here, but can this be done with a none standard map and having different zoom levels? The main reason why I need to use google maps is because of the GPS functionality, so the user will know where they currently are on the map.

• In FLEX, How can you stop ENTER Key from my Alert being caught by the control that initiated the Al

  I am having an issue where I show an AlertBox message when the user hits ENTER and the focus is in a text area. The pop up works fine, but when the user hits enter the Alert closes as expected, but the TextArea listener receives the ENTER event from the Alert and pops the dialog up again. I have tried a number of ways to catch and eat the event but so far I have not been lucky. • How can I embed the result of a rails view in another website?

  I would like to allow users to call my ruby on rails app as a service which returns a 'div' with html content in it, and embed that div into their app (which will not be a rails application). For example, assume someone has their own php website that has a header/footer template that gets rendered, and a content area of the page that they need to fill based on some html I generate in my rails app. I would like to allow them, from php, to call to my website, get the 'div' I generate, and embed that as html in their php page. What I'm trying to do is host a service on my site that returns some html content, but actually show that content as part of another site, so that the end user only sees the other site and never really knows about mine. Is this possible?

• User management with aspnet membership provider

  Hi guys, Just a general question really. I have taken on the management of an application written in C# MVC that uses the asp.net membership api. With this a user can register, change their password, etc. My application consists of two areas, administrator and user. This adminstrator's area has lots of custom admin functionality relating to the application, however has no functionality utilizing the membership api. I want to be able to use the membership api for user management functions such as resetting a password of a user who has forgotten theirs, lock users out, etc. Are there any resources or articles out there that delve into this aspect of using the membership api? Any help would be appreciated :) thanks

• How to see what objects lie in which generation in YourKit?

  I am using YourKit (11.0) to try to profile my j2ee app. The app uses java 6 and running on 64-bit linux (centos). I was told that YourKit possibly tells us which objects exist in which generation (eden, old, etc) at any given point of time. On a side note, I am trying to chase a problem where memory usage keeps increasing until a major collection happens (every 4 hrs) and I am suspicious about few particular objects, so I am interested to know where those objects lie at different times. Fortunately I know lot of memory is being consumed in one particular area of code (so other objects are possibly directly being put into the old gen), but don't exactly know how much of that memory is being put into eden space, how much is being collected by the minor collections, etc. Thanks.

• Closing a window when it's "no longer needed".

  This is kind of a hard question to describe, and I've searched for about an hour now to no avail. Essentially, picture a small 'flyout' window like the Windows 7 Wireless Control or the Volume Slider from the system tray(notification area). When you click on the icon, the application pops up with focus, and if you click off of it, the window destroys itself. I thought it woudl be easily solved by simply having my window destroy it self when it loses focus (I've been listening for WM_KILLFOCUS), but the problem is, if the icon is clicked, my window does not always get focus. Since this isn't the case, if the user clicks my icon, and then clicks away because it was a mistake (on the desktop say), then how can I set my app to close? I've tried messing with SPY++ but checking the volume control / wireless control apps are proving difficult as they disappear when I try to get their window/process handles. Thanks!

• Just a random basic OO javascript qn

  I am coding an external Javascript slideshow file, which i want to load and display on my HTML/CSS webpage. How do i go about doing that? I understand that i need to load the .js file in the header of the HTML, but what do i call inside the body's DIV that will make the javascript file understand that i want it to load at that area? I'm extremely confused with working with Javascript here. If anyone has any helpful links to implementing a complete slideshow on a webpage it would be appreciated as well.

• WHERE IN Query with two recordsets in Access VBA

  Hi All, My first post here, so i hope this is the right area. I am currently trying to compare 2 recordsets, one of which has come from an Excel named range, and the other from a table in the Access database. The code for each is: Set existingUserIDs = db.OpenRecordset("SELECT Username FROM UserData") Set IDsToImport = exceldb.OpenRecordset("SELECT Username FROM Named_Range") The problem is that I would like to somehow compare these two recordsets, without looping (there is a very large number of records). Is there any way to do a join or similar on these recordsets? I can not do a join before creating the recordsets, due to the fact that one is coming from Excel, and the other from Access, so they are two different DAO databases. The end goal is that I will choose only the usernames that do not already exist in the access table to be imported (so in an SQL query, it would be a NOT IN(table)). • Matlab: How to find the right-most point of a white line within the imrect?

  i've got a question regarding the imrect() function, which is part of the image processing toolbox in MatLab. I'd like to find a starting point within an image. I use the imrect function for setting a region to limit and specify the lookup area, but I can't get the point where the ROI mask is getting back mapped to the original size of the image. As you can see on the image there is a specified rectangle (cyan-colored), which I want to inspect for the white line, especially the nearest point to the right edge of the rectangle. I experimentated with only looking up on the last column of the rectangle, but as I mentioned before, the re-mapping onto the global image coordinates failed. So in this example, the white point I'd like to get would be around (98,302) The original (x,y) coordinates are relevant, so a cropping of the image to the rectangle is not acceptable.   For the jQuery extension Jeditable, one of the parameters that can be specified is which DOM event will turn a div/span/... into a text input/textarea/... I would like to have more than one event serve as a trigger; that is, I would like either a click event or a contextmenu event to turn a span into an in-place edit area. Is there a graceful way to do this without forking Jeditable? --edit-- An example of code specifying the event is below. • Designing a Chart that expands as more data is entered in Excel

  I have a worksheet that pulls data from another, it is designed to only show late jobs, and it works perfectly. I have it where it is broken down into quarters, and it gathers all this data and does everything I want. Except this one last bit... I want to have it where it shows charts, if there is data in said area the chart would self populate, otherwise it would be blank. If more data is entered into the range expand the chart accordingly. Attached is a simplified workbook with what it does, and what I'd like to see it do. I don't even know if this is possible... • are runtime linking library globals shared among plugins loaded with dlopen?

  I've a C++ program that links at runtime with, lets say, mylib.so. then, the same program uses dlopen()/dlsym() to load a function from myplugin.so, dynamic library that in turn has dependencies to mylib.so. My question is: will the program AND the function in the plugin access the same globals defined in mydlib.so in the same memory area reserved for the program, or each will be assigned different, unrelated copies in its own memory space? if the latter is the default behaviour, is it possible to change that?
