  • What should I do during the summer?

    I have just recently graduated from High School and I am looking for something productive to do over the summer. I was thinking of possibly learning a new language that can give me an edge in school or a good project to pursue that will look good on my resume for future jobs.     I want to ignore all directories "_notes" throughout a repository. _notes is generated by dreamweaver and is not part of the project itself, but these directories are scattered throughout the project. Somehow ^_notes$ is not doing the job in .hgignore ... Do I have to direct .hgignore to each and every directory "_notes" or does it do it recursively? I am not quite sure about the man pages

  • Rails - good tool to create a scheduled background process which will regularly retrieve messages fr

    Background Job gets mentioned a lot but all the tutorials I've seen seem to indicate that its for queuing jobs which are created by some external event such as a user clicking "Send mail". But what about when you have code that needs to scheduled to run every 30 seconds to listen for new messages from twitter? Normally rake is recommended for set in stone schedules but it inst so efficient for frequent jobs as it has to to load the entire rails app each time. Can anyone recommend anything for this situation?

Use the number, to download xml files named: 1 to x where x is the number from #1. store the files in a particular directory. Sorry I've never written a python script, so if you could guide me along that would be great (maybe with a some comments). I will be running this as a cron job if that matters.

    Delphi 2011 will allow to compile applications that will run also on MacOS. Is it realistical to think that it will be possible to "migrate to cross platform" a win32 application? Will 3rd party component vendors make their library cross platform or this is practically not possible? I use the following 3rd party components: devexpress - UI devart - DAC Reportbuilder - UI Steema/TeeChart - UI I don't expect to have a wizard that will do the job for me, I just want to understand better the details.

Has anyone had experience with it in a large production site? I haven't run a huge sample of markup through it yet, but so far it has seemed to do the job fine.

    The question gives all necessary data: what is an efficient algorithm to generate a sequence of K non-repeating integers within a given interval. The trivial algorithm (generating random numbers and, before adding them to the sequence, looking them up to see if they were already there) is very expensive if K is large and near enough to N. The algorithm provided here seems more complicated than necessary, and requires some implementation. I've just found another algorithm that seems to do the job fine, as long as you know all the relevant parameters, in a single pass.

  • Using FFmpeg or wrapper to get mp3 from mp4 in C#

    I'm trying to extract an mp3 from a flash compatible mp4 file and have so far found FFMpeg and a bunch of different wrappers that all claim to be able to do the job. Ideally, I'd like to not have to rely on shelling to the FFMpeg exe, but none of the wrappers I've tried seem to work.... Has anyone got any code or advice for how to go about this? Thanks!

  • Download textarea contents as a file using only Javascript (no server-side)

    I am being asked to make a "download" button that downloads the contents of a textarea on the same page as a file, with the browser's "Save As" dialog showing up. Copy/paste would do the job just fine, but it is a "requirement". Right now, I am just posting the contents of the textarea to the server, which echos them back with "Content-disposition: attachment" slapped on. Is there a way to do this with just client-side Javascript?

  • C#: Drag & Drop with right mouse button

    Hello, I'd like to do Drag & Drop with the right mouse button instead with the left one. However calling DragDrop.DoDragDrop() from MouseRightButtonDown instead of MouseLeftButtonDown doesn't do the job - DragDrop.DoDragDrop looks for mouse movements while holding down the left mouse button. Any idea how to realise Drag & Drop using the right mouse button? Thanks for any hint!
