  • Remote synchronization

    Hi all, today we would like to show you another improvement we have prepared for NetBeans 7.2. Today, let's talk a little bit about remote synchronization. If you already use our simple (S)FTP client, this enhancement could be useful for you. Simply right click on Source Files and select Synchronize. Please notice that the remote synchronization works better only on the whole project (it means that the Source Files must be selected). The Synchronize action is also available on individual files (more files can be selected at once) but the suggested operation (download, upload etc.) does not work so precisely. Also please notice that the suggested operations are not 100% reliable since the timestamps provided by FTP servers are not exact. Once the remote files (their names and paths only, of course) are fetched, the main dialog appears: As you can see, NetBeans tries to suggest you operations (upload, download etc.) which should be done for each individual file of your project. If you are interested only in some particular changes, you can simply filter the list: Since we have a file conflict, we need to resolve it first. Fortunately this is very easy because we just select the desired file and click the Diff button . The remote version of our file is downloaded and compared with the local version. The resut is displayed in the dialog where you can easily apply and/or refuse the remote changes or even simply type manually to the local version of the selected file: Once we are done with our changes, the operation for the selected file changes to Upload and the file is marked with * (since we made some changes). Please notice that if you now click the Cancel button, in fact no changes are done in our local file. As you can see, if we have one or more files selected, we can change their operation to: no operation (file won't be synchronized) download upload delete (both local and remote file) reset (the operation is resetted to the original one suggested by NetBeans and also all changes done via Diff action are discarded) Now we are ready to synchronize our project. NetBeans will show us the synchronization summary (this dialog can be omitted, see the Show Summary checkbox on the previous image). The synchronization itself starts and we can see its progress and of course its result. As always, all the operations can be reviewed in the Output window.     In this simple Article trying to show how SharePoint Designer 2010 more the External Content Type to External Database are very easy to create and can be integrated with our SharePoint Portals. You can download SharePoint Designer 2010 here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=d88a1505-849b-4587-b854-a7054ee28d66&displaylang=en For this Example I will create a Database in SQL Server and will use SharePoint Designer 2010 to create the connections and use as a mirror from our SharePoint Portal using List and the Database. The first thing we need to do, is connect to SQL Server and create our Database call “Contacts” and add the Table “Contact” with the following fields.  When we create the External Content Type. We  will need to associate the Content Type, in this case i am using the Generic List, then we can create the Connection to the external Data Source. After create the Connection to the Database we can define what Columns we will use and what operations we will add our custom List. For this example i select all Operation they came default. This operation are very important because the Business rules are defined in each operation. After we create the diferent operations we can create the Custom List and define the how will be the Operation and add the Name for our custom List.  If you try to access the New Custom List Call “Custom Contact” you will see we will not have access to the Business Data Connectivity. To Resolve this issue we will need to give Access and permissions to users to the Custom External Content Type BDC connection in the Central administration.  Access to Central Administration Page and select the option “Service Application Tab> Manage Service Application”. There you select the Service “Business Data Connectivity Service” then select “Manage”.  This Option will list all External Content Type, choose the External Content Type we create and select the option “Set Object Permission”, this option will allow to add users to the BDC and manage the permissions to the Custom List.  After the correct permissions are given we can Access to Data on our custom Contact List and start creating new Item and all the other options and operation we define to the same List.  Hope you like this litle Article about connect Database Content to SharePoint Portal using the Externa Content Types and BCS.Thank you.

  • Wireless card power management

    I have noticed that when my computer in plugged in, the wireless strength increases. I'm assuming this is to do with power management. Is there a way to disable Wireless Power Management? I have found a few blog posts that show hacks to disable this but what is best practice here? Should there not be an option via the power menu that lets you toggle this?   • Strategy to lazy load images for buttons within UIScrollView?

    I have a horizontal UIScrollView that contains UIButtons (though it could be any object). I would like to only download images for these buttons as the user scrolls and they are seen. I would also like an activityindicator running on each button while the images are downloading. Here's what I've tried with results: Check content offset of uiscrollview and download images for visible buttons. Problem: issues getting activity view shown within subclassed UIButton and not desired usability since images are only downloaded once scrolling stops. Add subviews (not buttons) to the UIScrollview hoping to use the view's ViewController to initiate a downloaded on viewDidAppear. Problem: viewDidAppear never seems to get called (because I am using addSubView?). I've seen other apps that do this kind of loading but need some guidance on the typical set-up. Ebay's app is a great example. All items have a default image until the item comes into view, then an activityindicator runs and the items unique image is downloaded. Thanks for assistance.

    I would like to be able to load several RIA entitysets in a single call without chaining/nesting several small LoadOperations together so that they load sequentially. I have several pages that have a number of comboboxes on them. These comboboxes are populated with static values from a database (for example status values). Right now I preload these values in my VM by one method that strings together a series of LoadOperations for each type that I want to load. For example: public void LoadEnums() { context.Load(context.GetMyStatusValues1Query()).Completed += (s, e) => { this.StatusValues1 = context.StatusValues1; context.Load(context.GetMyStatusValues2()).Completed += (s1, e1) => { this.StatusValues2 = context.StatusValues2; context.Load(context.GetMyStatusValues3Query()).Completed += (s2, e2) => { this.StatusValues3 = context.StatusValues3; (....and so on) }; }; }; }; While this works fine, it seems a bit nasty. Also, I would like to know when the last loadoperation completes so that I can load whatever entity I want to work on after this, so that these enumerated values resolve properly in form elements like comboboxes and listboxes. (I think) I can't do this easily above without creating a delegate and calling that on the completion of the last loadoperation. So my question is: does anyone out there know a better pattern to use, ideally where I can load all my static entitysets in a single LoadOperation?

    I'm creating an HTML/JavaScript widget to be used on third-party sites. This widget is generated by a <script> that our customers will insert on their page. The <script> creates an <iframe> in the customer's domain, and then creates and inserts all of that <iframe>'s content using JavaScript. It's important that this <iframe> contain Clicky's tracking code to monitor clicks on outbound links. Unfortunately, I'm not having any luck getting Clicky to work when I append the requisite <script> elements to the <iframe> using JavaScript. I first tried simply appending the Clicky tracking code to the <iframe> after appending some test outbound links, hoping that Clicky could attach to those automatically as it does on a static page. That didn't seem to work, so my next inclination was to use the "advanced_disable" custom option and use clicky.log() on the links I want to track. Here's a link to a test page that's along those lines: http://onespot.wsj.com/static/clicky_iframe_test.html When clicking a link on that test page, the action is not logged in Clicky, and a JavaScript error appears: clicky is not defined This ("clicky") appears to be defined in http://static.getclicky.com/js, which I confirmed through the Firebug console is indeed loading before I click a test outbound link. Has anyone successfully loaded Clicky in this way? If so, could you provide some sample code, a link to a working implementation, or some feedback on what's wrong with my code?   • Is NUnit broken with Windows7 for C++/CLI?

    NUnit is failing in C++/CLI with a System.IO.FileNotFoundException. I have tried my own freshly-created project, the C++/CLI sample included with NUnit and the one from CodeProject How to use NUnit to test native C++ code using Visual Studio 2008sp1 with NUnit 2.5.5 as well as 2.4.8. I installed 2.4.8 just on C:\ in case there was something weird about paths with spaces such as Program Files (x86). I have no problems with a C# sample using NUnit. in NUnit GUI, all of these C++/CLI projects encounter the same problem, on attempting to open the projects. I'd really like to use NUnit but for now have had to go back to standard Microsoft tests System.IO.FileNotFoundException...     I upgraded to the OCZ-Agility3 120GB from a 60 OCZ Vertex2 SSD. I cloned the drive from the Vertex to the new Agility. Everything seemed to have gone well and have not had any problems.     Note: The application I'm building is a website type Facebook Application that uses Facebook Connect. I can prompt the user with a request for Extended Permissions using the following FBML code: <fb:prompt-permission perms="read_stream,publish_stream"> Grant permission for status updates </fb:prompt-permission> Taken from here. This creates a link on the page that must be clicked by the user in order to trigger the prompt to display. My question is: Is it possible to display this prompt automatically, when the page loads, without requiring the user to click on the link? Also, in reply to the answer below, I'd like to avoid displaying the link. Would prefer a neat way to do this, if that fails the least dirty method will do :-)

  • New Computer freezing up at random

    Since I built my system about 4 weeks ago I'v been getting random freezes, Sometimes it can happen directly after startup and sometimes it wont freeze up for 3-4 days of 24/7 running. It seems to be happening under all stress loads but mainly when the CPU is under 10% load. It doesn't give me a BSOD or anything, it simply just freezes and repeats the last sound before the freeze until I shut it down by the power button. I'v re-seated everything in the system except the CPU, Cleaned the RAM sockets and gold fittings. None of the components have been clocked above their factory settings as of yet, don't want to overclock them until I sort out these freezes. Temps are all well under the rated max temps, the highest the temps have been are below CPU: Low load: 16-21°C Full Load (100%) 40-43°C *(From HWMonitor by CPUID) GPU 1: Low Load: 25-30°C Full Load (100%): 45-50°C GPU 2: Low Load: 23-27°C Full Load (100%): 45-50°C *(GPU Temps from Catalyst Control Center) General Case temps Rear: 18-20°C Mid: 20-21°C Front (HDD/SSD Bays): 14-19°C (Case temps may be a little off as it's from the Kaze master pro fan controller) I have Un-installed EVERY driver for Motherboard, GPU & Soundcard and Re-installed twice. Windows is all up to date.     I'm trying to use NtBackup to back up the C: Drive on a Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003 machine and get the following error in the log file: Backup Status Operation: Backup Active backup destination: 4mm DDS Media name: "Media created 04/02/2011 at 21:56" Error: The device reported an error on a request to read data from media. Error reported: Invalid command. There may be a hardware or media problem. Please check the system event log for relevant failures. Error: C: is not a valid drive, or you do not have access. The operation did not successfully complete. I'm using a brand new SATA Quantum Dat-72 drive with a brand new tape (tried a couple of tapes). I carry out the following: Open NTBackup Select Backup Tab Tick the box next to C: Ensure Destination is 4mm DDS Media is set to New Press Start Backup Choose Replace the data on the media and press Start Backup NTBackup tries to mount the media Error Message shows: The device reported an error on a request to read data from media.   • Google Chrome not loading web pages correctly unless multiple refreshes

    Webpages in Google Chrome do not load correctly from time to time. I can't reproduce it, it just happens. Some times it happens when I load the browser other times it happens when I am just browsing. Just now I went to five different web sites which 3 out of 5 of them did not load correctly. I have attached a photo of how Super User loaded the first time I loaded it. If I refreshed it it will load correctly. Facebook is bad like this. Some times Facebook will load correctly but some of there back end scripting may not load so the page may not refresh automatically. Not sure what is going on. I have tried other browsers (Firefox and Internet Explorer) and they seem to be working correctly. Chrome seems to be acting up only on this computer. All my computers are running Windows 8 and I have removed Chrome completely off this computer and re-installed. I even disabled all extensions and cleared all the caches. I even tried running Chrome without being logged in. Not sure what else to do at this point. An example of superuser.com not loading correctly: When I refresh the problem will go away until it happens again. Sometimes it takes two or three refreshes in order for it to correctly load.

    I'm setting out to create a settings activity for my app. I've defined a PreferenceActivity with a nice layout including a ListPreference object for the user to select a bluetooth device. I'm having trouble dynamically populating the list. I would like to populate ListPreference with values from an array adapter (which I'll create and populate with relevant bluetooth device names). If this were a spinner View, I could just call setAdapter(). However with the ListPreference object I can't figure out how to attach an adapter (findviewByID won't cast from View To ListPreference, so I can't even get a handle to the object). I would like to attach an adapter and then populate the adapter with values, which in turn would populate the ListPreference with values.

  • Why are .NET app.config load rules different for win2k3?

    ...and are there any other caveat for other platforms? I create an app.config for a win forms project, for example Application.exe. By default I expect that at runtime my application is going to look for a file called Application.exe.config. But there seem to be exceptions to this, for example in a Windows Server 2003 environment an app will look for Application.config. The full path of the config file being searched for is different in Windows Server 2003, why is this? Where is the definition for these cosmic app.config loading rules?
