• Catch Id (INT AUTO INCREMENT) of a Record after INSERT INTO Statement

  This is my first time I use MySQL as datastorage for my C# Application, as I've seen that there is no UNIQUEIDENTIFIER type as in SQL server I decieded to use INT with AUTO_INCREMENT, my problem is now if I execute a INSERT, how may I get the ID of the Record I just added. My quick and dirty solution has been to execute a SELECT MAX(ID) FROM table Statement. But this doesn't seem consistent. I belive there is a better solution something like mysql_insert_id() (PHP). Any Idea how to resolve this in C#?

• Can I use a stream to INSERT or UPDATE a row in SQL Server (C#)?

  Suppose I have a VarBinary[MAX] column, can I insert or update into that column using a type derived from System.IO.Stream? How? I think that I can obtain a read-only stream from such a column using a SqlDataReader, calling GetSqlBytes() on the reader, getting the SqlBytes instance, and then referencing the Stream property on that. What I want is the converse - I want a stream for update or insert. Possible? (from c#... Without writing T-SQL ?)

• How can i insert large files in mysql db using php?

  Hi! I want to upload a large file of size 10M max to my mysql database. Using .htaccess i changed the PHP's own file upload limit to "10485760" = 10M, i am able to upload files upto 10M size without any problem. But i can not insert the file in database if it is more that 1M in size. i am using file_get_contents to read all file data and pass it to the insert query as a string to be inserted into a LONGBLOB field. But files with more than 1M size is not being added to database, though i can use print_r($_FILES) to examine that the file uploaded correctly. Any help will be appreciated and i will need it within next 6 hours. So, please help! best regards, Anjan

  I have a SQL 2008 Express database, which have following tables: CREATE TABLE Videos (VideoID bigint not null, Title varchar(100) NULL, Description varchar(MAX) NULL, isActive bit NULL ) CREATE TABLE Tags (TagID bigint not null, Tag varchar(100) NULL ) CREATE TABLE VideoTags (VideoID bigint not null, TagID bigint not null ) Now I need SQL query to search for word (i.e. Beyonce Halo Music Video) against these tables. Which videos have: For Title exact phrase will get 0.5 points For Description exact phrase will get 0.4 points For tags exact phrase will get 0.3 points For title all words will get 0.2 points For description all words will get 0.2 points For title one or more words will get 0.1 points For description one or more words will get 0.1 points And I will show these videos on basis of points. What will be the SQL Query for this? A LINQ query will be more better. If you know a better way to achieve this, please help.

  I had a List<myClass> myList for storing a list of items. When I had to clip this (discard any amount of items above some threshold) I used: myList.RemoveRange(threshold, myList.Count - threshold); where threshold is the max amount of things the list can contain Now I've upgraded the datatype to a Dictionary<key, myClass> myDictionary How can I basically do the same: Discard all entries above some threshold. (It doesn't matter which ones are discarded) I guess I could foreach through the keys collection and manually delete all keys/value pairs. But I was hoping there was a more elegant solution.

  Hi, If I have a parent and child modelled relationship. How to I select the parent, and some of the child rows. I cannot seem to do it, and load the parent object. var query = ( from parent in Parents.Include("Children") from child in parent.Children where child.Date == parent.Children.Max(x => x.Date) select parent); the problem is that the parent is returned multiple times, not the parent with the children loaded. Is there any way to populate each of the parents, and include the child rows, but only the ones needed. If I try and navigate again, I get all the children, not just the ones with the latest date. • Android 4.0.3 OpengL ES 2.0 issue

  i develop live wallpapers using Opengl ES 2.0 engine. My wallapapers run smooth on 2.x Android Devices , but in 4.03 i see some strange things. 1st seconds (maybe a minute max) lwp runs smooth , but after that starts dropping frames especially when objects passing near camera allmost crashes. But no error on eclipse Log. I watched Eclipse log from the begining of loading the lwp to the point of dropping frames. I ve seen that on My LG optimus 2X , and my Samsung Galaxy S2. Any Idea what to check , or what is going on?? UPDATE i just noticed that changing render mode from dirty to continuously fixed the problem , but until screen orientation changes , or goes of and on. after that renderer freaks out.

• LINQ saving images to varbinary

  I'm having issues saving images to a varbinary(Max) field using LINQ. I can save files in the region of 10KB to the database no problems, but when it comes to files bigger than that, it's as though it doesn't even try. I've had a look in the SQL Server Profiler and when the file is around 10KB I can see the full insert statement in the detail pane. However, when the file is a bit bigger, the detail pane doesn't show anything, although any data besides the varbinary field is written to the database. The data is in the Data Object just before SubmitChanges so I can't figure out what's happening between now and then!

Unfortunately only the the first line of the string is pasted into the cell. I know, I could write a Insert/Update script for that, but it's not what I'm looking for. • mySQL & Relational databases: How to handle sharding/splitting on application level?

  Hi everybody, I have thought a bit about sharding tables, since partitioning cannot be done with foreign keys in a mySQL table. Maybe there's an option to switch to a different relational database that features both, but I don't see that as an option right now. So, the sharding idea seems like a pretty decent thing. But, what's a good approach to do this on a application level? I am guessing that a take-off point would be to prefix tables with a max value for the primary key in each table. Something like products_4000000 , products_8000000 and products_12000000. Then the application would have to check with a simple if-statement the size of the id (PK) that will be requested is smaller then four, eight or twelve million before doing any actual database calls. So, is this a step in the right direction or are we doing something really stupid?

  This is my script - it simply looks for the image file associated to a person record. Now the error will display if there is NO .jpg evident when the query runs. Msg 4860, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Cannot bulk load. The file "C:\Dev\ClientServices\Defence\RAN\Shore\Config\Photos\002054.2009469432270600.001.jpg" does not exist. Is there a way to write this query to 'IF not exists then set id_number = '002054.2009469432270427.001' - so it wil always display this photo for any records without a picture. • Using 'Copy as cURL' from Chrome in windows command line

  So, Google Chrome as this great 'copy as cURL' option under 'Network' of the Chrome DevTools. Works great in command lines for linux but not in windows. Apparently it has something to do with the single quotes as the error I get is protocol 'http not supported In other words its reading that single quote. Is there a simple way to make this formatable for windows? I tried replacing all the single quotes with double quotes but then nothing happens at all.   I'm writing some attendance software. Each member will have an ID card with a barcode which they will use to sign in to events. How long should the barcode field be in my database? I'd like to accept Code 39 and Code 128 barcodes. I know these are variable length codes, so what should I set the max length to? Thanks!   i would like to write a simple line of code, without resorting to if statements, that would evaluate whether a number is within a certain range. i can evaluate from 0 - Max by using the modulus. 30 % 90 = 30 //great however, if the test number is greater than the maximum, using modulus will simply start it at 0 for the remaining, where as i would like to limit it to the maximum if it's past the maximum 94 % 90 = 4 //i would like answer to be 90 it becomes even more complicated, to me anyway, if i introduce a minimum for the range. for example: minimum = 10 maximum = 90 therefore, any number i evaluate should be either within range, or the minimum value if it's below range and the maximum value if it's above range -76 should be 10 2 should be 10 30 should be 30 89 should be 89 98 should be 90 23553 should be 90 is it possible to evaluate this with one line of code without using if statements?

• SQL Stored Procedure

  I am trying to run a stored procedure with a while loop in it using Aqua Data Studio 6.5 and as soon as the SP starts Aqua Data starts consuming an increasing amount of my CPU's memory which makes absolutely no sense to me because everything should be off on the Sybase server I am working with. I have commented out and tested every piece of the SP and narrowed the issue down to the while loop. • jquery - setting a limit of items, that can be dragged into a list

  Hi, i have this two lists, from which i can move items from one to another with jquery ui and connect lists, with ajax. If an item is pulled over, a message is generated in a php file and then it appears on screen. Now i want that for example the right list should be allowed to contain ten items at max. It would be great if it would be possible with jquery, that if there is already ten items in the list and you go and drag the eleventh, if then the item would somehow vanish, maybe with a little effekt. I think maybe reading out db in the php-file if theres already ten items, and so on. But i have currently no idea, if and in case if in which way, jquery would support this kind of behaviour.
