  Is there a way to set BIRT to output a report as XHTML (1.0 Transitional would be fine) instead of HTML? I did a few tests and there are some elements that are not valid:head does not include a title, html must have a namespace (xmlns) attribute Is this functionality supported at all by BIRT?

  I'm attempting to add a Test Settings file to my Unit Tests project in VS2010. All websites seem to simply say "Go to Add New Item Installed Templates Test Settings". However, I don't have Test Settings as an option in my Installed Templates (nor does searching for them online turn up any results). Can someone point me in the right direction for what I need to do?

• Automatically inserting new fields in a web.config file

  I have an ASP.NET project which has already some custom fields in it's web.config file. I've added in it three more fields and used them in my changes, and it's working great. But where it needs to be used, there aren't these thre fields in the web.config (this was expected, I've just added by hand for tests and developing). How do I check the existance of fields in web.config, and in case of not finding it, how do I add it permanently to the web.config ? Thank you

  I've performed the "Replace Method with Method Object" refactoring described by Beck. Now, I have a class with a "run()" method and a bunch of member functions that decompose the computation into smaller units. How do I test those member functions? My first idea is that my unit tests be basically copies of the "run()" method (with different initializations), but with assertions between each call to the member functions to check the state of the computation. (I'm using Python and the unittest module.)

  I'm looking for code coverage solution which works with silverligt. It must also work with msbuild because we run all the other unit tests automatically in the build server. Integration with Visual Studio and/or resharper is a plus and I have nothing against easy setup or a pointer to a tutorial.   So, I'm working in eclipse were everything compiles and runs correctly. However, when compiling under ant for the build server, A large number of tests fail with a NoSuchMethodError saying: class A implements B interface B extends C C requires method getSyncID() // standard getter for an int field. A.java contains getSyncID() A.class contains getSyncID() and yet the Error is still thrown. Does anyone know how the hell this could happen? how to fix it.

  In the setup of my test cases, I have this code: ApplicationContext context = new ClassPathXmlApplicationContext( "spring/common.xml" ); StaticListableBeanFactory testBeanFactory = new StaticListableBeanFactory(); How do I connect the two in such a way that tests can register beans in the testBeanFactory during setup and the rest of the application uses them instead of the ones defined in common.xml? Note: I need to mix a static (common.xml) and a dynamic configuration. I can't use XML for the latter because that would mean to write 1000 XML files.

  When using Excel (2003) to provide data for my unit tests it seems to think that when a cell has TRUE / FALSE value that it is null when there has been no preceding cell values e.g. if (TestContext.DataRow["SatisfactionExtremelySatisfied"] != DBNull.Value) model.SatisfactionExtremelySatisfied = (bool)TestContext.DataRow ["SatisfactionExtremelySatisfied"]; Sample Excel Data DataRow SatisfactionExtremelySatisfied 0 1 2 TRUE 3 TRUE When reading the test data using OLEDB the cells with TRUE hold no value but when the preceding cells have the value FALSE entered it correctly gets the values TRUE. Am I missing something?

My breakpoints are hit, but if I hit F5, the Unit Test Sessions window does not return until the test returns a result or I stop the debugging session.   We have server on Python and client + web service on Ruby. That works only if file from URL is less than 800 k. It seems like "socket.puts data" in a client works, but "output = socket.gets" - not. I think problem is in a Python part. For big files tests run "Connection reset by peer". Is it buffer size variable by default somewhere in a Python?

  Usually when you add one (in Visual Basic), it pops up a message asking if you want to enable an option that lets the test access things like private methods etc. However, I am editing a solution that does not have this enabled.
