• Android ListView item highlight programmatically

  Hi all, I know it's been asked around but I haven't found quite the answer yet (new to Android so sorry about the ignorance) my app's launch Activity has an EditText (called searchbox) , a ListView (designations) and a Spinner (types) I use the EditText as a searchbox, I have to pass the string through a custom editing to make searching more flexible. After that I match that against the closest approximation I find in 'designations' and do designations.setSelection(j); As expected, this sets the desired item to the top of designations. But I can find a way to highlight it via code. NOW, i do know that if the device is in touch mode the highlighting of a selected item won't occur. So the last 4 lines of my searchbox's onTextChanged event are: designations.setFocusable(true); designations.setFocusableInTouchMode(true); if (match==true) designations.setSelection(j); if (st.length()==0) designations.setSelection(0); to no avail. now, i don't have any code on searchbox's afterTextChanged(Editable s); so could anyone give me a clue on this? regards ~dh

• Nginx as a proxy to Tomcat

  Pardon me, this is my first attempt at Nginx-Jetty instead of Apache-JK-Tomcat. I deployed myapp.war file to $JETTY_HOME/webapps/, and the app is accessible at the url: http://myIP:8080/myapp I did a default installation of Nginx, and the default Nginx page is accessible at http://myIP Then, I modified the default domain under /etc/nginx/sites-enabled to the following: server { listen 80; server_name mydomain.com; access_log /var/log/nginx/localhost.access.log; location / { #root /var/www/nginx-default; #index index.html index.htm; proxy_pass http://127.0.0.1:8080/myapp/; } error_page 500 502 503 504 /50x.html; location = /50x.html { root /var/www/nginx-default; } } Now I get the index page of mypp (running in jetty) when I hit myIP, which is good. But all the links are malformed. eg. The link to css is mydomain.com/myapp/css/style.css while what it should have been is mydomain.com/css/style.css. It seems to be mapping http://mydomain.com to http://127.0.0.1:8080 instead of http://127.0.0.1:8080/myapp/ Any idea what am missing? Do I need to change anything on the Jetty side too?

• sqlite3 permission denied android

  Hi, I'm trying to access the database of the application I'm developping directly on my Nexus, but I get a "permission denied" when I tried to execute the "sqlite3" command. I also tried to start the adb in root mod, but again, permission denied on the device... I guess I will have to do that with the emulator but I have a lot of data to load and it would have been 10 times faster with the phone on Wifi than the emulator... All queries are performed under this root, and all inserts are performed into this container. For Domain and ApplicationDirectory context types, this parameter is the distinguished name (DN) of a container object. What is the DN of a container object? How do I find out what my container object is? Can I query the Active Directory (or LDAP) server for this?

• Wix, Launch application after installation complete, with UAC turned on.

  Good day. I've been building an installer for our product using the WIX(Windows Installer XML) technology. The expected behavior is that the product is launched, if the check box is checked after installation. This has been working for some time now, but we found out recently that UAC of Win 7, and Vista is stopping the application from launching. I've done some research and it has been suggested to me that I should add the attributes Execute='deferred' and Impersonate='no'. Which I did, but then found out that to execute deferred, the CustomAction has to be performed, between the InstallInitialize, and IntallFinalize phases; which is not what I need. I need the product to launch AFTER install finalize, IF the launch checkbox is checked. Is there any other way to elevate permissions? • Tips / techniques for high-performance C# server sockets

  I have a .NET 2.0 server that seems to be running into scaling problems, probably due to poor design of the socket-handling code, and I am looking for guidance on how I might redesign it to improve performance. Usage scenario: 50 - 150 clients, high rate (up to 100s / second) of small messages (10s of bytes each) to / from each client. Client connections are long-lived - typically hours. (The server is part of a trading system. The client messages are aggregated into groups to send to an exchange over a smaller number of 'outbound' socket connections, and acknowledgment messages are sent back to the clients as each group is processed by the exchange.) OS is Windows Server 2003, hardware is 2 x 4-core X5355. Current client socket design: A TcpListener spawns a thread to read each client socket as clients connect. The threads block on Socket.Receive, parsing incoming messages and inserting them into a set of queues for processing by the core server logic. Acknowledgment messages are sent back out over the client sockets using async Socket.BeginSend calls from the threads that talk to the exchange side. Observed problems: As the client count has grown (now 60-70), we have started to see intermittent delays of up to 100s of milliseconds while sending and receiving data to/from the clients. (We log timestamps for each acknowledgment message, and we can see occasional long gaps in the timestamp sequence for bunches of acks from the same group that normally go out in a few ms total.) Overall system CPU usage is low (< 10%), there is plenty of free RAM, and the core logic and the outbound (exchange-facing) side are performing fine, so the problem seems to be isolated to the client-facing socket code. There is ample network bandwidth between the server and clients (gigabit LAN), and we have ruled out network or hardware-layer problems. Any suggestions or pointers to useful resources would be greatly appreciated. If anyone has any diagnostic or debugging tips for figuring out exactly what is going wrong, those would be great as well. Note: I have the MSDN Magazine article Winsock: Get Closer to the Wire with High-Performance Sockets in .NET, and I have glanced at the Kodart "XF.Server" component - it looks sketchy at best.

• onServiceConnected never called after bindService method

  Hi, I have a particular situation: a service started by a broadcast receiver starts an activity. I want to make it possible for this activity to communicate back to the service. I have chosen to use AIDL to make it possible. Everything seems works good except for bindService() method called in onCreate() of the activity. bindService(), in fact, throws a null pointer exception because onServiceConnected() is never called while onBind() method of the service is. Anyway bindService() returns true. The service is obviously active because it starts the activity. I know that calling an activity from a service could sound strange, but unfortunately this is the only way to have speech recognition in a service. Thanks in advance

• Uninitialized constant Encoding with sqlite3-ruby on windows

  On a new machine, installed ruby with the 1-click installer for windows. Installed rails 2.3.2 and all associated gems, then I installed the sqlite3 binaries (into the c:\ruby\bin folder). Lastly I did gem install sqlite3-ruby -v=1.2.3 (which is apparently the latest version that works with windows) This error happens when I run rake db:migrate or when any ActiveRecord object is touched at runtime. The error looks like this: ** Invoke db:migrate (first_time) ** Invoke environment (first_time) ** Execute environment ** Execute db:migrate rake aborted! **uninitialized constant Encoding** <---- Any help resolving this error would be greatly appreciated! • passing valus to one jsp page to another jsp page

  I'm retrieving values from database to table in jsp.(to a column) I want to insert that value into another table in database. To do that i'm using another jsp table to insert that value in db and i call that jsp page in my previous jsp's page form action tab. I use request.getParameter() method to get the values in my first jsp page to new jsp page.but i couldnt get that values using request.getParameter(). How can i solve this

  I'm fumbling my way through a basic installation of TFS 2010... I see that the TFS_Configuration and Tfs_DefaultCollection databases were successfully created on my local machine. The installation seemed to go smoothly, but it looks like I need to configure a Team Project Collect before I can start using it. Yet, the wizard seems unable to locate the appropriate database that I expected should have been created during the setup process. The server name defaulted properly to the name of the local machine. Did I miss a step somewhere?

  I have some problem with Html.ValidationSummary. I don't want to display property errors in ValidationSummary. And when I set Html.ValidationSummary(true) it does not display error messages from ModelState. When there is some Exception in controller action on string MembersManager.RegisterMember(member); catch section adds an error to the ModelState: ModelState.AddModelError("error", ex.Message); But ValidationSummary does not display this error message. When I set Html.ValidationSummary(false) all messages are displaying, but I don't want to display property errors. How can I fix this problem?   Hi all, I have read on this site that it is necessary to customize the setOnItemSelectedListener and setOnItemClickListener of a ListView if we want to know the Index of the SelectedItem (.getSelectedItemPosition()). So that is what I do but it does not stores the position of the SekectedItem, instead i have always -1...
