• I can't autostart xfce4 power manger lubuntu 13.10

  I just upgraded my 64 bit lubuntu to 13.10 on my netbook today. After the upgrade, I simply can't autostart the xfce4 power manager. I tried to add from the desktop session settings, I tried to copy the power manager.desktop file to ~/.config/autostart folder. Everything looks fine, than I logout, log back in, and the darn power manager, just won't start automatically. It only starts when I double click the icon, or if i start it from the terminal. Help me please

• Ad-hoc reporting similar to Microstrategy/Pentaho - is OLAP really the only choice (is OLAP even sufficient)?

  So I'm getting ready to develop an API in Java that will provide all dimensions, metrics, hierarchies, etc to a user such that they can pick and choose what they want (say, e.g., dimensions of Location (a store) and Weekly, and the metric Product Sales $), provide their choices to the api, and have it spit out an object that contains the answer to their question (the object would probably be a set of cells). I don't even believe there will be much drill up/down. The data warehouse the APIwill interface with is in a standard form (FACT tables, dimensions, star schema format). My question is, is an OLAP framework such as Mondrian the only way to achieve something akin to ad-hoc reporting? I can envisage a really large Cube (or VirtualCube) that contains most of the dimensions and metrics the user could ever want, which would give the illusion of ad-hoc reporting. The problem is that there is a ton of setup to do (so much XML) to get the framework to work with the data. Further it requires specific knowledge, such as MDX, and even moreso learning the framework peculiars (Mondrian API). Finally, I am not positive it will scale much better than simply making queries against a SQL database. OLAP to me feels like very old technology. Is performance really an issue anymore? The alternative I can think of would be dynamic SQL. If the existing tables in the data warehouse conform to a naming scheme (FACT_, DIM_, etc), or if a very simple config file/ database table containing config information existed that stored which tables are fact tables, which are dimensions, and what metrics are available, then couldn't the api read from that and assembly the appropriate sql query? Would this necessarily be harder than learning MDX, Mondrian (or another OLAP framework), and creating all the cubes? In general, I feel that OLAP is at the same time too powerful (supports drill up/down, complex functions) and outdated and am reluctant to base my architecture on it. However, I am unsure if the alternative(s), such as rolling my own ad-hoc reporting framework using dynamic SQL would remove any complexity while still fulfilling requirements, both functional and non-functional (e.g., scalability; some FACT tables have many millions of rows). I also wonder about other techniques (e.g., hive). Has anyone here tried to do ad-hoc reporting? Any advice? I expect this project to take a pretty long time (3 months min, but probably longer), so I just do not want to commit to an architecture without being absolutely sure of its pros and cons.   I have ubuntu server at home, and I use SSH keys to log in via terminal from my laptop. Rarely, but mostly from work, I need to access this server, but I dont want to copy keys on my work laptop - Id rather just use plain password for that. So if I enable password log in from ssh config file, it will ask me password on my laptop too even though it contains keys, right? Is there a way to stop this behavior? Thanks.

When using the desktop version I could use the Gnome powersaving tool to specify the idle time. As I have no GUI on the server is there a way to set the server idle time via the commandline/config file? I will send the server a wake-on-lan packet to wake it up, if it is suspended and I need to use it.

• xbindkeys slow on Ubuntu 13.10

  I am using Ubuntu 13.10 64 bit on an Intel 15 with 4GB of RAM. I used xbindkeys for custom keyboard shortcuts in Ubuntu 13.04 because it was easy to configure with the GUI xbindkeys-config. Now I have setup the same on Ubuntu 13.10, and even a simple operation like opening a file using gedit seems to run slow. Reinstalling xbindkeys does not seem to solve the problem. Anyone has any ideas on what could be done, or any alternatives that are easy to configure?

  I had problems running scripts with Framework 4.0 assemblies I created.  The error I was getting was  Add-Type : Could not load file or assembly 'file:///C:\myDLL.dll' or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded. I had to add the supported framework to the powershell.exe.config file.<supportedRuntime version="v4.0.30319"/>I still had a problem running the assembly so I had to recompile and set "Generate serialization Assembly" to off.

  Hi Everyone, I have two web servers sitting behind a Cisco ASA 5505, which I don't have much experience with. I'm trying to create two static NATs. One static NAT that goes to xx.xx.xx.150 and another that goes to xx.xx.xx.151. I've created the static NAT for the .150 web server and it works FINE. Incoming and outgoing traffic work great. This is the staging web server. I now need to duplicate the setup for the production web server. So, I connect the webserver to the firewall, change the public IP address on one of the NICs reboot the server and I have outbound internet access. Then I run the command: static (inside,outside) xx.xx.xx.150 192.168.1.x which is successful. I then run the command: access-list acl-outside permit tcp any host xx.xx.xx.150 eq 80 Which is successful. I then try to browse the internet and I get nothing. I try to telnet in through port 80 and I get nothing (though I'm guessing because the response to the telnet request is being blocked). I've tried this with the production web server and then I tried it with another web server that is for internal testing and have the exact same problem. Both work fine until I run the static NAT rule and then no outbound internet access. I have a feeling that it's something simple that I'm missing, but my limited experience with this device is killing me. Below I've pasted the current configuration. I'm currently trying to get this to work on the .153 server which is the internal testing server. • Android RTSP - MediaPlayer init failure / PVMFFailure

  Hello, I have a camera by Cisco and like to stream it's video stream to my android phone. It's coded in MPEG4 so there should be no problem, but it's not working anymore (it worked with another camera a few weeks ago). Any idea what I might try ? I don't know what's wrong here. • Uninstall Mono from Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard

  I installed Mono on my iMac last night and I immidiately had a change of heart! I don't think Mono is ready for prime time. The Mono website says to run the following script to uninstall: #!/bin/sh -x #This script removes Mono from an OS X System. It must be run as root rm -r /Library/Frameworks/Mono.framework rm -r /Library/Receipts/MonoFramework-SVN.pkg cd /usr/bin for i in `ls -al | grep Mono | awk '{print $9}'`; do rm ${i} done Has anyone had to uninstall Mono? Was it as straight forward as running the above script or do I have to do more? How messy was it? Any pointers are appreciated. Thanks

  I downloaded and installed MySQL 5.1.47 for OS X 10.6 using the DMG archive: mysql-5.1.47-osx10.6-x86_64.dmg I also installed MySQL.prefPane and MySQLStartupItem.pkg. MySQL.prefPane is a Preference Pane. The problem is, whenever I attempt to start/stop MySQL from the Preference Pane, System Preferences just hangs. It runs at about 50% CPU forever, eventually I have for force quit System Preferences. The same thing happens if I toggle "Automatically Start MySQL Server on Startup". Basically the MySQL Preference Pane is not functional. Note that I have no problem starting MySQL from the command line: sudo /usr/local/mysql/bin/mysqld_safe I have tried reinstalling MySQL and the Preference Pane. I'm using the standard installation location, nothing out of the ordinary. Every time the MySQL Preference Pane just hangs. I'm doing this on a Macbook Pro (Intel) running OS X 10.6.3. There are no old versions of MySQL on this machine.

However, now when I try to compile the sample code given, go is not finding the web package. • Getting Cabal to work with GHC 6.12.1

  I've installed the latest GHC package (6.12.1) on OS X, but I can't get Cabal to work. I've removed the version I had previously that worked with GHC 6.10 and tried to re-install from scratch. The latest Cabal version available for download is 1.6.0.2. However, when I try to build this I get the following error: Configuring Cabal-1.6.0.2... Setup: failed to parse output of 'ghc-pkg dump' From what I've found searching, this seems to suggest that the version of Cabal is too old for the version of GHC. Is there any way to get Cabal to work with GHC 6.12.1 yet? EDIT: To be clear, I'm trying to set-up cabal-install.

• FireLog: proper installation...

  I have installed the firewiresdk26 on my dev mac... and in the Tools/ directory is FireLog. I have run the FireLog 2.0.0.pkg installer on my dev mac, but the payload it deploys is installed in my /System/Library tree, as opposed to my /Developer/SDKs tree. so when I try to include the header iokit/firewire/FireLog.h it does not get found. am I missing something? or doing something wrong? or is this an error in the installer (either FW26 or FireLog installers?) I realize that the FireLog installer is intended to be run on the machine to be debugged remotely and thus it makes sense that the framework is placed in the /System/Library path, however none of the installers gets it into my developer path... I guess I just have to move it over there by hand, but before I do that I wanted to see if I'm just overlooking something silly and need to read the docs with more concentration or something... anyone run into this before?   I'm trying to use sqlite3 with lua (am already using c++, but I'm a n00b with lua- I read this) but I'm getting the following when trying to build the library or whatever: C:\lib\lsqlite3-7>mingw32-make process_begin: CreateProcess(NULL, pkg-config --version, ...) failed. makefile:53: *** windows32. Stop. I'm not at all surprised at a makefile failing but I can't do them (is it spaces or tabs? where is it they have to go?), I would have thought there was a binary for windows? Any simple answers appreciated. I haven't got the time to learn make or install cygwin or whatever.

• Error in releasing gem

  Guys i am using jeweler to create a gem . I have successfully written my code and pushed it to github and my git status is clean . • Unknown error when creating packages with pkgbuild

  I followed several tutorials-which all appeared to say the same thing-on how to create deployable flat-packages (.pkg) using the OS X system provided pkgbuild tool. The packages was always generated just fine. They did, however, not want to be installed. Running the graphical Apple Installer or the command line interface installer aborted the installation early on giving an generic “Unknown error” after prompting for higher permissions. Hours later after closer investigation I discovered that I could not install other packages either. Not even updates and new installations from the OS X App Store. Why could I not install my own nor any other packages? What was going on?

  hi, 1, I already download the "Apple Worldwide Developer Relations Certification Authority",and add it into my keychain. 2, My team leader already had created two Cers for Mac App store developing, I download and add it into my keychain. 3, I used two methods to sign my add, but failed all. First, add code sign section in my .xcodeproj(3.2.5). Second, I used script: productbuild --component ./bin/MAS_Release/MyApp.app /Applications --sign "3rd Party Mac Developer Application: My Company Co., Ltd." --product ./src/MyApp/MyApp-Info.plist MyApp.pkg But it failed with information: Code Signing Identity '3rd Party Mac Developer Application: My Company Co., Ltd.' does not match any valid, non-expired, code-signing certificate in your keychain. I observed that my certifications in keychain don't have small trangle. how make the small trangle absence?(when I'am importing the Cers from my Agent, it don't have the trangle absence)
