  • Visual Studio Team Suite

    - by Kyle Rozendo
Hi All, From a developer perspective, what would myself and my team gain from using Visual Studio Team System and Visual Studio Team Foundation Server? I can see some features and the like, but what have you gained from using the two versus using Visual Studio Professional and SVN. Thanks, Kyle (Apologies if there's a dupe, I can't find it though)

  • seeking j2ee books recommendation

    - by john
Hi, I'm thinking of a serious training in j2ee and found there are too many books to choose from. Could you kindly share your insights as a practicing professional in this respect? For example, some people in other post recommend "SCWCD Exam Study Kit Second Edition Java Web Component Developer Certification Hanumant Deshmukh, Jignesh Malavia, and Matthew Scarpino" by quickly looking at Amazon, I found Enterprise JavaBeans 3.0 (5th Edition) [Paperback] Richard Monson-Haefel received 141 reviews.... thanks

  • EF Query Object Pattern over Repository Example

    - by Dale Burrell
I have built a repository which only exposes IEnumerable based mostly on the examples in "Professional ASP.NET Design Patterns" by Scott Millett. However because he mostly uses NHibernate his example of how to implement the Query Object Pattern, or rather how to best translate the query into something useful in EF, is a bit lacking. I am looking for a good example of an implementation of the Query Object Pattern using EF4.

  • MSMQ private queue size limit

    - by DaeMoohn
Hi, I am trying to put messages in a private queue defined on my local computer, but the queue size cannot exceed 8 MB. I am getting an exception every time after that size is reached. The size for the specific queue is set at 10 GB. I am running Windows 7 Professional. Is there a limitation because of that?

  • Designer tool integration with TFS?

    - by reallyJim
Are there good tools for professional designers to use that support source control integration with Team Foundation Server? I'm aware of the Expression tools, but curious to see if there is something else, as proper designer tools really aren't my area of expertise.

  • Does your Visual Studio2008 hang after installing Office 2010?

    - by Junior Mayhé
Wierd.... Late nite I installed Office 2010 Professional Plus. Here I am, the next morning, and Visual Studio 2008 is freezing, like there "was some invisible dialog window", because it doesn't allow me to click on any IDE element. In brief, after I open a ASP.MVC form, suddenly I'm not allowed to click on anything, icon, dock panel, toolbox, nothing... Anyone has this kind of problem?

I'm looking for a CMS just for backend that lets you manage database tables with custom fields. I found Wordpress Pods similar to what I'm looking for, but I don't want Wordpress to manage my frontend (and Wordpress Pods don't look professional to me...) Is there something like this out there? • ASP.NET small online store, shopping cart

    - by Tyler
Currently I have a site that is using Google Checkout's mini cart system and I like it a lot, however, I'm wondering if there is a more professional way of doing it, while still keeping it simple. I've looked into an authorize.net account, but I need to find a way to handle the mini shopping cart before heading off to process the order. Are there any good open source mini shopping carts that are not linked with a merchant service?

Since I am unemployed at the moment, I decided to start a small business for computer repair. Can you help out with some ideas for the name for this new company? I was thinking of something like Computer Associates, or Computer Squad, but they sound a little cheesy. I wanted something a little more professional. Thanks for any suggestions.

  • Coding without Grock. Is it wrong?

    - by OldCurmudgeon
Should a professional programmer allow themselves to write code without completely understanding the requirements? In my 30+ years as a programmer I must have written many thousands of lines of code without completely understanding what is required of me at the time. In most cases the results were rubbish that should have been discarded. Every other industry that employs professionals has systems to root out such behavior. Ours does not. Is this right?
