• Summarising grouped records in a dataframe in R

  Hello all, I have a data frame in R that looks like this: > TimeOffset, Source, Length > 0 1 1500 > 0.1 1 1000 > 0.2 1 50 > 0.4 2 25 > 0.6 2 3 > 1.1 1 1500 > 1.4 1 18 > 1.6 2 2500 > 1.9 2 18 > 2.1 1 37 > ... and I want to convert it to > TimeOffset, Source, Length > 0.2 1 2550 > 0.6 2 28 > 1.4 1 1518 > 1.9 2 2518 > ... Trying to put this into English, I want to group consecutive records with the same 'Source' together, then printing out a single record per group showing the highest time offset in that group, the source, and the sum of the lengths in that group. The TimeOffset values will always increase. I suspect this is possible in R, but I really don't know where to start. In a pinch I could export the data frame out and do it in e.g. Python, but I'd prefer to stay within R if possible. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide

I thinks the problem is the way I'm mallocing the double pointer called picks, but I dont know exactly why. I'm am only trying to scanf strings that are less than 15 chars long, so I don't see the problem.   I am new to prolog. I need to write an integer adder that will add numbers between 0-9 to other numbers 0-9 and produce a solution 0-18. • Normals per index?

  I have a pyramid which has 5 vertex and 18 indices. As I want to add normals to each face I just found solution for normals for each vertex. That means I can't use indices to define my pyramid I need to have 18 vertex (and 3 times the same vertex for the same point in space). There must be a solution to use normals not on vertex base but on index base.   I'd like to embed a music (flash) player in a table with clickable images but the embed code seems to throw the table properties off - it extends the width of the table. Is it possible to embed the player on the same row as the image whilst still retaining the table width?   Hello all, I just got help in how to compile this script a few mintues ago on SO but I have managed to get errors.   There's a login/user in SQL Server who is having a problem importing accounts in production server. I don't have an idea what method he is doing this. According to the one importing, this import is working fine in development server. But when he did the same import in production it is giving him errors. Using SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), I viewed/checked the permissions of the user/login who is performing the import from development server and production for comparison. I found no difference. My question is: Is there a way to programmatically query permissions in server and database level of a particular login/user so I can compare/contrast for any differences?

But I'm sure it can be done, albeit someone with a bigger brain. There are lots of examples of regEx but I couldn't find any to deal with phrases; so I was wondering if anyone could help me out. Journeys are defined as a sequence of rows per id up until to end_yn == 1, also if end_ynnever becomes 1, the journey should also be numbered (see the expected outcome example). It is only possible to have end_yn == 0 journeys at the end of a collection of rows for an ID (as shown at row 4 for id 3). So either no end_yn == 1 has occured for that ID or that happened before the end_yn == 0-journey (see id == abc in the example). I know how to number using the data.table package, but I do not know which columns to combine in order to get the expected outcome. I've searched the data.table-tag on SO, but could not find a similar problem.   I have a little Java project where I've set the properties of the class files to UTF-8 (I use a lot of foreign characters not found on the default CP1252). The goal is to create a text file (in Windows) containing a list of items. When running the class files from Eclipse itself (hitting Ctrl+F11) it creates the file flawlessly and opening it in another editor (I'm using Notepad++) I can see the characters as I wanted. +--------------------------------------------------+ ¦ Universidade2010 (18/18)¦ ¦ hidden: 0¦ +--------------------------------------------------¦ But, when I export the project (using Eclipse) as a runnable Jar and run it using 'javaw -jar project.jar' the new file created is a mess of question marks ???????????????????????????????????????????????????? ? I've followed some tips on how to use UTF-8 (which seems to be broken by default on Java) to try to correct this so now I'm using Writer w = new OutputStreamWriter(fos, "UTF-8"); and writing the BOM header to the file like in this question already answered but still without luck when exporting to Jar Am I missing some property or command-line command so Java knows I want to create UTF-8 files by default ?

Vacation used is always applied against the oldest vacation earned amount first. We need to return the rows for Vacation Earned that have not been offset by vacation used. If vacation used has only offset part of a vacation earned record, we need to return that record showing the difference. For example, using the above table, the result set would look like: |ID|EmployeeID|Date |Category |Hours| |1 |1 |1/1/2010 |Vacation Earned|1.0 | |4 |2 |5/18/2010|Vacation Earned|1.0 | Note that record 2 was eliminated because it was completely offset by used time, but records 1 and 4 were only partially used, so they were calculated and returned as such. The only way we have thought of to do this is to get all of the vacation earned records in a temporary table. Then, get the total vacation used and loop through the temporary table, deleting the oldest record and subtracting that value from the total vacation used until the total vacation used is zero. We could clean it up for when the remaining vacation used is only part of the oldest vacation earned record. This would leave us with just the outstanding vacation earned records. This works, but it is very inefficient and performs poorly. Also, the performance will just degrade over time as more and more records are added. Are there any suggestions for a better solution, preferable set based? If not, we'll just have to go with this.

The issue is that I need to break this down by where the user registered from (e.g. website, wap site, or a mobile application). the resulting output data should look like this...   I am new to prolog. I need to write an integer adder that will add numbers between 0-9 to other numbers 0-9 and produce a solution 0-18. This is what I want to do: add(in1, in2, out) :- in1 < 10, in2 < 10, out < 18. I would like to be able to call it like this: To Check if it is a valid addition: ?- add(1,2,3). true ?- add(1,2,4). false With one missing variable: ?- add(X,2,3). 1 ?- add(1,4,X). 5 With multiple missing variables: ?-add(X,Y,Z). % Some output that would make sense. Some examples could be: X=1, Y=1, Z=2 ; X=2, Y=1, Z=3 ...... I realize that this is probably a pretty simplistic question and it is probably very straightforward. However cording to the prolog tutorial I am using: "Unlike unification Arithmetic Comparison Operators operators cannot be used to give values to a variable. The can only be evaluated when every term on each side have been instantiated."

  For this application I've mine I feel like I can get away with a 40 bit hash key, which seems awfully low, but see if you can confirm my reasoning (I want a small key because I want a small filename and the key will be converted to a filename): (Note: only accidental collisions a concern - no security issues.) A key point here is that the population in question is divided into groups, and a collision is only relevant if it occurs within the same group. A "group" is a directory on a user's system (the contents of files are hashed and a collision is only relevant if it occurs for files within the same directory). So with speculating roughly 100,000 potential users, say 2^17, that corresponds to 2^18 "groups" assuming 2 directories per user on average. So with a 40 bit key I can expect 2^(20+9) files created (among all users) before a collision occurs for some user somewhere. (Or IOW 2^((40+18)/2), due to the "birthday effect".) That's an average 4096 unique files created per user, for 2^17 users, before a single collision occurs for some user somewhere. And then that long again before another collision occurs somewhere (right?)

• C# Script to get modified date from URL directory

  Hello, I am fairly new to C# and was hoping for some assistance. I currently use Visual Studio 2008. What I am wanting to do is the following: I have a server (\backupserv) that runs a RoboCopy script nightly to backup directories from 18 other servers. These directories are then copied down to \backup in directories of their own: Example: It copies down "Dir1", "Dir2", and "Dir3" from Server1 into \backupserv\backups\Server1 into their own directories (\backupserv\backups\Server1\Dir1, \backupserv\backups\Server1\Dir2, and \backupserv\backups\Server1\Dir3). It does this for all 18 servers nightly between 12am and 6am. The RoboCopy runs via schedule task. A log file is created in \backupserv\backups\log and is named server1-dir1.log, server1-dir2.log, etc. What I am wanting to accomplish in C# is the ability to have a 'report' showing the modified date of each text log file. To do this I need to browse the \backupserv\backups\log directory, determine the modified date, and have a report displayed (prefer HTML if possible). Along with the modified date I will be showing more information, but that is later. Again, I am fairly new to C#, so, please be gentle. I was referred here by another programmer, and was told I would get some assistance. Thanks in advance. If I have missed any detail please let me know and I will do my best to answer.
