  • Hiding php includes from search spiders?

    Quick and simple question. I have 80+ html files which I want to be crawled. They are individual product pages. Each of these pages calls its content using php includes. These php include files are in a separate folder on the server and contain the core content for the individual product pages. I just wanted to ask, if I use robots.txt or .htaccess to prevent crawling of the directory that holds the php content files, will there be no issue crawling the html pages which include these files? What I want to achieve is have the html files indexed with the php content included in them, but I don't want visitors landing on the php content pages, nor have these php files indexed as duplicate content. Just clarification needed as to whether it is safe to block spiders from accessing the php folder, without this affecting the html files being indexed with the included content. Is this the best way to do things? Or should I just leave the content php files to be crawled?

    Just love the Hipmunk (for Business) UI facets for discovering information. You can filter by Agony, Spite, or Vice! Agony and Spite facets on Hipmunk.com Vice facet on Hipmunk for Mobile Seems like a reasonable balance given that all you can do with business travel sometimes is just laugh about it! I first came to hipmunk.com through a paper presented by Oracle Fusion User Experience Advocate (or FXA) Sten Vesterli (@stenvesterli) at an Oracle Usability Advisory Board meeting in Geneva earlier in 2012. Nice! And there are lots of other powerful and edgy UX features in the solution too (Gmail calendar integration, contextual actions dialog box, and so on). I'll be using Hipmunk as an example of great UX too, shortly. If you want to mention the funky side of UIs or anything referenced by me, then acknowledge the source.

  • Browser security when calling HTTP assets via a SWF on a HTTPS site

    We have a site that runs on HTTPS and needs to pull in various JS assets to run a video player on the page. We get a browser security warning on this page because the JS files we are externally calling are being accessed via HTTP, not HTTPS. E.g. // HTTP reference on a HTTPS site <script src="http://the-cdn.tld/player.js"></script> Simply accessing this one JS assets via HTTP and not HTTPS will cause the browser security warning which we need to get rid of. The provider of the JS file does not support an HTTPS equivalent (like Google Analytics does). We would ideally love to just do the following, but the provider does not have this: // HTTPS reference on a HTTPS site <script src="https://the-cdn.tld/player.js"></script> One option we had was to just download a copy of the JS file and serve it on the HTTPS site, however we have concerns with this as it is not recommended by the provider and will not include updates from them. Assuming we cannot do that, we were thinking a possible other option would be to use a SWF file as a proxy. We were thinking that we could have one of our flash guys create a SWF that loads in the HTTP-served JS file to the page. We were wondering that if this SWF makes the request, would that prevent the browser from showing the security warning or not? I assumed that we would still see the warning since the SWF is still making the request through the browser, but I wanted to see what the hive mind thinks.

  • Searching a document for multiple terms in VBA?

    I'm trying to create a macro to be used in Microsoft Word 2007 that will search a document for multiple keywords (string variables) located in an external Excel file (the reason for having it in an external file is that the terms will often be changed and updated). I've figured out how to search a document paragraph by paragraph for a single term and color every instance of that term, and I assumed that the proper method would be to use a dynamic array as the search term variable. The question is: how do I get the macro to create an array containing all the terms from an external file and search each paragraph for each and every term?     Hello, I'm having problems with macOSX and virtualenv. It seems to ignore --no-site-package. Using exactly the same commands with linux (archlinux) it works.   • Batch OCR for many PDF files (not already OCRed) ?

    Hello, I use Google Desktop Search (I am on Vista) and not all my PDF files are recognized in my archive folder. It is normal as "PDF files that contain scanned images" are not indexed (http://desktop.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=90651) So I would like to OCR many of my PDF files that are not already OCRed. My goal : I give the program a folder and it search alone in the subfolders the PDF files that need to be converted into PDF-OCRed files. Note: In the past, if a PDF file was password protected, I removed the password with another batch (paying) tool: verypdf.com "pwdremover" Any (not too much expensive) idea ? I already tried : Finereader 6 pro on xp at the time, but there was no batch processor included... Paperfile paperfile.net which uses Tesseract code.google.com/p/tesseract-ocr/. But the OCR is only PDF to text, not PDF to PDF! There is also another project code.google.com/p/ocropus Thanks in advance ;)

  • Deeper Unity search indexing

    Unity is currently only indexing and displaying a shallow set of file results. Suppose I want to open the file "/home/Music/Creedence Clearwater Revival/Willy and the Poor Boys/The-Midnight-Special.mp3". I open the "Files and Folders" lens and type "The Midnight Special". Unfortunately, the song doesn't display. I try "Willy and the Poor Boys" but that folder doesn't display either. The only folder that does display in the lens is "Music". Therefore I must open the "Music" folder then navigate through the entire directory tree to open the file I want. How do I get a deeper index of files to display in the "Files and Folders" lens? Thanks for your help!

    I have this wish that so far Google hasn't been able to fulfill. I want to find a package (ideally in PHP, because I know PHP, but I guess that's not a hard requirement) that you point at a database, it builds an ORM based on what it finds there, and exposes a REST interface over the web. Everything I've found in my searches requires a bunch of code--like, it wants you to build the classes for it, but it'll handle the REST request routing. Or it does database and relational stuff just fine, but you have to build your own methods for all the CRUD actions. That's dumb. REST is well defined. If I wanted to re-invent the wheel, I totally could, but I don't want to. Isn't there somebody who's built a one-shot super-simple auto-RESTing web service package?

  • Updating a DLL in a Production ASP.NET Web Site bin folder

    I want to update a class library (a single DLL file) in a production web application. This web app is pre-compiled (published). I read an answer on StackOverflow (sorry, can't seem to find it anymore because the Search function does not work very well), that led me to believe that I could just paste the new DLL in the bin folder and it would be picked up without problems (this would cause the WP to recycle, which is fine with me because we do not use InProc session state). However, when I tried this, my site blows up and gives a FileLoadException saying that the assembly manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. What in the world is this?! Updating the DLL in Visual Studio and re-deploying the entire site works just fine, but it is a huge pain in the rear. What is the point of having a separate DLL if you have to re-deploy the entire site to implement any changes? Here's the question: How can I update a DLL on a production web site without breaking the app and without re-deploying all of the files?

    I have a very specific question, which I have not been able to find the solution I want to search Superuser and other websites using Google, but I want to limit it to a specific subject (e.g. the R programming language). Using Superuser paths for specific topics like "site:http://superuser.com/questions/tagged/r" Does not work, as can be seen when comparing searching using full path compared to searching entire website with more specific question. Also note the first hit being one step in the direction i want, but since this path itself does not hold the questions in its path it does not solve my issue. There should however be a better way to do this, e.g. by having a very specific Google search tag for the R programming language, which would have to be either in the path, on the webpage, or tagged differently. Seeing as Superuser has a good tag system I am optimistic that this can be used to solve my question. Is there a solution to this that always works on Superuser and similar sites?

EDIT: I can understand binary search in general. I just can not understand how to apply binary search in this special case. How to decide the missing number is in or not in some range so that we can choose another. English is not my native language, that is one reason I can not understand the author well.     If you have been using VS2010 for any significant amount of time, you surely came across the awkward, slow and hard to use Add Reference dialog. Despite some (apparent) improvements over the VS2008 behavior, in its current form it's even LESS usable than before. A brief non-exhaustive summary of the typical grief with this dialog is: Scrolling a list of *hundreds* of entries? (300+ typically) No partial matching when typing: yes, you can type in the list to get to the desired entry, but the matching is performed in an exact manner, from the beginning of the assembly name.     Hi, I have a SP using FTS (Full Text Search). I want searches across multiple fields, 'intelligently' ranking results based on the weights I assign. Consider a search on a view fetching data from tables: Book, Author and Genre. Now, I want the searcher to be able to do: "Ludlum Fiction", "Robert Ludlum Bourne", "Bourne Ludlum", etc. Unfortunately, the only way I have been able to do that at present is this: http://pastebin.com/fdce11ff This is pretty bad, because I am manually breaking up the search string. I know I am doing this completely the wrong way, but can't figure out the right way to search across multiple fields in FTS. Can somebody help please?
