• Creating a .bat file

  Hi, I am trying to execute a command CSRUN.exe with certain parameters from command prompt. I am able to do this using command prompt. Everytime instead of invoking this from the command prompt, i thought of writing a batch file, where in a single click will help me and also i forward this to someone who wants to execute. Following is the one i am executing from the command prompt, which i want to have in a batch file C:\Program Files\Windows Azure SDK\v1.1\bincsrun.exe E:\Publish\ServiceConfiguration.csx E:\Publish\ServiceConfiguration.cscfg /launchbrowser Can somebody suggest me how to create a batch file for invoking this command?

• How to stop processes from going into the page file

  I have a server, and windows vista, 64-bit, 4gb ram. Sometimes the server randomly drops into the page file, and disconnects everyone who was online. Only after I click the cmd.exe window does it comes back out. How do I mark a program as not eligible for the page file? If this is relevant, I'm using a Minecraft server with the following command line arguments: java -server -Xmx256M -Xms256M -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:+UseAdaptiveGCBoundary -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=200 -XX:-UseGCOverheadLimit -XX:SurvivorRatio=16 -Xnoclassgc -XX:UseSSE=3 -XX:ParallelGCThreads=3 -jar minecraft_server.jar nogui

• Including File Paths in Ocra?

  I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to include file paths in ocra and still have the application make an exe. I have it set up so that the .exe generated by ocra would sit on the same directory level as another folder. That folder is named 'Place Files Here', and the program simply performs regex commands on text files in the 'Place Files Here' folder. I can run ocra without errors if I use only Dir.getwd, but if I try to add directory = Dir.getwd + '/Place Files Here' it won't run. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

• Autorun when USB stick is inserted

  Hi, I'm trying to prompt users to run my installer, whenever they plug in my USB device. I'd like this to work on all (most?) Windows OSes. I have an autorun.inf file in the root dir of my USB key with these contents: [Autorun] ShellExecute=setup.exe Icon=setup.exe UseAutoplay=1 It doesn't seem to do very much at all. Well... it does change the icon properly, but nothing gets executed and the user doesn't get any prompts. I've tried it on both Windows 7 and Windows Server 2003. Any ideas?

• Multiple keyboard shortcuts for the same command in OS X?

  I am used to doing Ctrl-Shift-Tab to cycle through tabs. I do slowly pick up the niceness about using Cmd-Shift-[ or ] to do the same on the Mac. I have currently set TextMate to take Ctrl-Shift-Tab to do the tab cycling, but I'd want the Ctrl-Shift-[ or ] in addition to that to perform tab cycling. Is this possible? The reason I ask is because I see that Chrome can do it both ways (not through any configuration of my own of course).

• marking text in Windows 7's command prompt

  I use Windows 7's command prompt (cmd.exe) for various tasks. In order to copy text from it, I right click and choose Mark, and then mark the text I want to copy. Sometimes while doing this, the marking doesn't stick. The minute I release the left mouse button after marking the text, the marking disappears. This has happened on every Windows 7 installation I've ever installed. How do I solve this?

  I just want to move dirs. I looked successively at mv, cp and rsync, since each tool in turn didn't seem to have the option to remove directories from source after copying them. For instance, mv needs files, not dirs, when src and dst are on different devices: "inter-device move failed: src to dst; unable to remove target: Is a directory" Perhaps the simplest way to do this is by using an additional deletion cmd, although I'd prefer not to use it, since that increases risk of data loss.

• Why's a simple change to rt.jar causing the Java Runtime Environment to crash silently?

  This is what I'm doing: extract contents of my JRE's rt.jar extract src.zip of my JDK (same version) Now, if I copy Runtime.java from the extracted src folder and compile it using javac.exe without any modifications and then put it in the extracted rt folder to finally put everything back in a jar file using jar.exe, everything works as expected. The JRE runs fine. However, if I make the slightest change to Runtime.java and compile it and put it in rt.jar, the JRE crashes whenever I attempt to start it. This is an example of a slight change that causes the silent crash: /** Don't let anyone else instantiate this class */ private Runtime() { System.out.println("This is a test."); } Instead of: /** Don't let anyone else instantiate this class */ private Runtime() {} Could anyone tell me why this is causing my JRE to crash? • Connecting Delphi to P/Invoke and .net

  The Delphi complier often uses a *.Dll when a special delivery of code info is required to the complier/editor:- example bourland.dll is the memory manager for the Delphi complier, as I remember. And their are many other *.dll's that Embarcoo keep secret that do other things. Is their anything you know that is public information on this subject .net's un managed code could be declared in a *.pas file as a decelerations but the only way to communicate it out is calling *.dll's like P/Invoke I have ilasm.exe and ildasm.exe and a decomplier into Delphi asm code now but still getting around to learn how to use them all yet. I do not have any reference material/editorials on P/invoke at all as I cannot find anything With that I will have a good concrete plan to make a good result I do not know what *.DLL's are in P/Invoke. Do you have any documentation. I do not have any reference material/editorials on ADO.net. The Dlls that are called and any referqance matrial I could use. Best regards, J Lex Dean.

  Forgive me if this is nor the place to ask these questions, I am new to batch and scripts and a bit new to these kind of posts... I have a folder that will receive files and folders, I want to run a script that looks at the directory and renames all files in each subfolder numerically, and moves them if possible. For example I have something that looks like the following Recieved_File_Folder |_folder1 | |_file1.txt | |_file2.bmp |_folder2 | |_file4.exe | |_file5.bmp |__file9.txt |__file10.jpg I would like to be able to look in every directory and move it to something like this, keeping in mind the names of the files will be random and I want to keep the extension intact also. Renamed_Folder |_folder1 | |_1.txt | |_2.bmp |_folder2 | |_1.exe | |_2.bmp |__1.txt |__2.jpg I have spent alot of time on this and am not doing too well with it, any help would be very greatly appreciated!!   In order to prevent command windows from popping up during installation I am using the WIX built-in custom action CAQuietExec. First I define the command line: <CustomAction Id="A01" Property="QtExecCmdLine" Value="&quot;MyExe.exe&quot; /password [PASSWORD]" /> NB: The PASSWORD property is defined as Hidden. This prevents the Windows installer from writing the property value to the log. Then I call into the embedded WIX extension: <CustomAction Id="A02" BinaryKey="WixCA" DllEntry="CAQuietExec" Execute="immediate" Return="ignore" /> This works fine. However, when I go to the temp folder and open up the MSI log I see the following entry: CAQuietExec: "C:\Program Files\MyExe.exe" /password INCLEARTEXT I.e. the password is displayed in clear text and not hidden. How do I prevent the CAQuietExec from logging the password in clear text?

• Sharing some info with all DLLs pulled into a process

  Hi all, We've got an Enterprise system which has many processes (EXEs, services, DCOM servers, COM+ apps, ISAPI, MMC snapins) all of which make use of many COM components. We've recently seen failures in some of the customer deployments, but are finding it hard to troubleshoot the cause. In order to track down the problem, we've augmented the entire source with logging statements where errors occur. In order to identify which logs came from what processes, the C++ logging code (compiled into all components) uses the EXE name to name the log. This is good for some cases, but not all - COM+ apps, ISAPI and MMC snapins all have system EXE names and the logs end up interleaved. I saw this post about shared data sections which might help, but what I don't understand is who decides what goes in the shared section. Is there any way I can guarantee that a particular piece of code writes into the shared section before anyone else reads it? Or is there a better solution to this problem?

I can't just edit the registry as it gets reset by a GPO on login. How do I apply the relevant administrative template via programatically (preferably cmd.exe or via the registry)? • Which .NET performance and/or memory profilers will allow me to profile a DLL?

  I write a lot of .NET based plug-ins for other programs which are usually compiled as a DLL which is up to the native application to start up. I've been using Equatec's profiler, which works great, but now would like something with more features, including the ability to profile memory usage. I tried out Red Gate's Ant Profiler, but as far as I can see there is no way to profile a DLL. The only option is to profile an EXE. So my question is what other profiling tools are available that will allow me to profile a single library DLL rather than an EXE. I'm assuming this would require injecting profile code into the library as Equatec does?

• Using windows CopyFile function to copy all files with certain name format

I am updating some C code that copys files with a certain name. basically, I have a directory with a bunch of files named like so: AAAAA.1.XYZ AAAAA.2.ZYX AAAAA.3.YZX BBBBB.1.XYZ BBBBB.2.ZYX Now, In the old code, they just used a call to ShellExecute and used xcopy.exe. to get all the files starting with AAAAA, they just gave xcopy the name of the file as AAAAA.* and it knew to copy all of the files starting with AAAAA. now, im trying to get it to copy with out having to use the command line, and I am running into trouble. I was hoping CopyFile would be smart enough to handle AAAAA.* as the file to be copied, but it doesnt at all do what xcopy did. So, any Ideas on how to do this without the external call to xcopy.exe?

Meaning, on running the exe after building I want to show the build number say 10 in my application somewhere. In project configuration file, I have used ${BUILD_NUMBER}, that a hudson understands and creates a build with the revision number. If I build the Project revision # 10, I get 10.exe. • How to determine Windows Java installation location

  I'm trying to dynamically run a .jar from a C# assembly (using Process.Start(info)). Now, from a console application I am able to just run: ProcessStartInfo info = new ProcessStartInfo("java", "-jar somerandom.jar"); In an assembly, however, I keep getting a Win32Exception of "The system cannot find the file specified" and have to change the line to the full path of Java like so: ProcessStartInfo info = new ProcessStartInfo("C:\\Program Files\\Java\\jre6\\bin\\java.exe", "-jar somerandom.jar"); This obviously won't do. I need a way to dynamically (but declaratively) determine the installed location of Java. I started thinking of looking to the registry, but when I go there I noticed that there were specific keys for the versions and that they could not even be guaranteed to be numeric (e.g. "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment\1.6" and "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment\1.6.0_20"). What would be the most reliable "long-haul" solution to finding the most up-to-date java.exe path from a C# application? Thanks much in advance.

• Shared WCF client code between .NET and Silverlight apps?

  I'm developing a .NET application that will have both a WinForms and a Silverlight client. Although the majority of code will be in the server, I'll need to have quite a bit of logic in the clients as well, and I would like to keep the client library code the same. From what I could figure out so far, I need to have two different project types, a class library and a Silverlight class library, and link the files from one project to the other. This seems kind of lame, but it works for simple code. My problem, though, is that the code generated by the SVCUtil.exe to access WCF services is different from the code generated by the slsvcutil.exe, and the silverlight code is actually incompatible with the .NET one: I get a bunch of problems with the System.ServiceModel.Channel classes when I try to import the class into .NET. Has anybody done anything similar to this before? What am I doing wrong?
