  • How to prevent Google from finding my admin index page?

    - by krish
I am running a website but for some days i stopped it and put the under-construction page because the Index of admin page is visible to the outside world through the Google search. One of my friend told me that your websites index is visible and its one step away to access the password file and he shows me that very simply using the Google search. How can i prevent this and i am hosting my site with a hosting company and i report about this to them but they simply replied to me still its secure so you no need to worry... am i really don need to worry and continue my site with the visible index of admin page?

  • Pros and cons of developing modern services in Java

    - by r3mus
I'm interested in the philosophical and architectural justification (or lack thereof) in using Java to develop in today's modern world (exclude mobile/embedded platforms of course). Why would one choose to develop (or not develop) a back-end in Java? Why would one choose to develop (or not develop) a front-end UI in Java? Why do large enterprises lean towards developing in Java rather than adopt more modern (and standardized) technologies? *disclaimer: I'm not a fan of Java in the enterprise, I'm simply curious what drives enterprises to continue the trend.

  • 1 to 1 Comparison and Ranking System

    - by David
I'm looking to create a comparison and ranking system which allows users to view 2 items, click on the one that they feel is the better one and then get presented with 2 more random items and continue to do this until they decide to stop. In the background, I want the system to use these wins and loses to rank each item in an overall ranking table so I can then see what is #1 and what isn't. I haven't got a clue where to begin with the formula, but I image I need to log wins and loses. Any help/direction appreciated!

  • How to Restrict Android App Permissions

    - by Chris Hoffman
Android forces you to agree to every permission an app wants, assuming you want to use the app. After rooting your device, you can manage permissions on a per-app basis. Restricting permissions allows you to protect your contacts and other private data from apps that demand access you’d rather not allow. Many apps will continue working properly after you revoke the permissions. HTG Explains: What Is RSS and How Can I Benefit From Using It? • Adding custom columns to Propel model?

    - by Hard-Boiled Wonderland
At the moment I am using the below query: $claims = ClaimQuery::create('c') ->leftJoinUser() ->withColumn('CONCAT(User.Firstname, " ", User.Lastname)', 'name') ->withColumn('User.Email', 'email') ->filterByArray($conditions) ->paginate($page = $page, $maxPerPage = $top); However I then want to add columns manually, so I thought this would simply work: foreach($claims as &$claim){ $claim->actions = array('edit' => array( 'url' => $this->get('router')->generate('hera_claims_edit'), 'text' => 'Edit' ) ); } return array('claims' => $claims, 'count' => count($claims)); However when the data is returned Propel or Symfony2 seems to be stripping the custom data when it gets converted to JSON along with all of the superflous model data. What is the correct way of manually adding data this way?

  • Injecting a response value into a textarea to subsequently post

    - by Ashbyrich
    I have multiple notes with class=.note and unique id each inside a div. On click of edit I grab the id, show hidden form #noteditor and hide all notes. I am using the load function to get the response (using codeigniter so url does work) and input result in the editorfrorm Textarea id = upnote... Firebug response looks ok and I have tried to inject into a div and this works fine, BUT getting this injto the text area is causing me some headaches. There is also the chance that i am going around this a convoluted way due to my limited knowledge... Any help or pointers v much appreciated... $(document).ready(function() { $('.edit').click(function(e){ var v=$(this).attr("id"); $(".note").slideUp(); $("#noteditor").slideDown('1000'); $("#upnote" ).load('/notes/my_note/'+v); e.preventDefault(); });

    - by user462779
Two new bits of content available on Profit Online: Oracle partner Edgewater Ranzal worked with customer High Sierra Energy to integrate Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management solutions with Oracle E-Business Suite and simplify an increasingly complex financial reporting system. "They needed to eliminate the older processes where 80% of the time was spent on collecting data and only 20% on analyzing the data.” --Bob Sanders, business development manager, Edgewater Ranzal. In a special report about Workforce Management, Profit wraps up a collection of recent content on the subject and looks at Oracle's recent agreement to acquire SelectMinds. “By adding SelectMinds to Oracle’s Talent Management Cloud, Oracle can help customers with a complete talent management solution, enabling streamlined recruiting practices, more quality referrals, faster employee on-boarding, and better performance.” --Thomas Kurian, Executive Vice President, Oracle Development More updates to come as we continue to add content to Profit Online on a regular basis. • Visual Studio 2005 - VC++ compiler C1001 on Windows 7

    - by Fritz H
When I try to build a simple "Hello World" C++ app on Windows 7 Beta, using Visual Studio 2005 (VC++2005) I get a rather generic error C1001 error (Internal compiler error) The compiler seems to just crash, and Windows pops up its (un)helpful This program has stopped working dialog. The file it complains about is mcp1.cpp. Has anyone come across this before? Cheers, Fritz EDIT: The code is: #include <iostream> int main(int argc, char** argv) { std::cout << "Hello!"; return 0; } EDIT 2: I have installed SP1 as well as SP1 for Vista. VS popped up a warning saying it needs SP1 for Vista, but installing it makes no difference. No ideas about what I can possibly do to fix this?

  • How to control / disable low level battery on bluetooth mouse

    - by Alberto
I have a little problem with my Kesington Bluetooth Mouse on Ubuntu 12.10. Ubuntu 12.10 considers my bluetooth mouse battery as a system battery as if it was the main laptop battery (so I have two on the battery indicator, the main and the bluetooth one). When it runs low level, near to die, battery, my laptop acts as if it was the main battery and I must quickly stop bluetooth and continue on the touchpad if I want to work. Can anyone help me? Maybe I prefer to disable the battery control over the mouse, I don't care about it, I know it is fully charged, but Ubuntu always starts on 33% or less, I just want to work with it and when it will be battery-off I will recharge the batteries. Many thanks in advance. Alberto.

  • jQuery Upload Progress Plugin Not working in Chrome and Safari

    - by Conceited Code
I am using the jquery.uploadprogress plugin to get the upload progress of a file from the NginxHttpUploadProgressModule. This is inside an iframe for a facebook application. It works in firefox, but it fails in chrome/safari. When I open the console I get this. Uncaught ReferenceError: progressFrame is not defined jquery.uploadprogress.js:80 Any idea how I would fix that? I would like to also send the file using AJAX when it is completed. How would I implement that? EDIT: I need this soon and it is important so I am going to put a 100 point bounty on this question. The first person to answer it will receive the 100 points. EDIT 2: Jake33 helped me solve the first problem. First person to leave a response with how to send the file with ajax too will receive the 100 points.

  • Enable editing does not call didSelectRowAtIndexPath ??

    - by elementsense
Hi I have a UITableViewController where the user should be able to edit the items. In order to enable editing i use this : self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = self.editButtonItem; And for everyone, how does not know where self.editButtonItem comes from, it is predefined by the SDK. So, now when I press on any item, this method is called : - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath but as soon as I hit the edit button and while editing is active, this method does not seemed to be called. Any idea what I missing ? This is the rest of the code that is related to editing : // Override to support conditional editing of the table view. - (BOOL)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView canEditRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { // Return NO if you do not want the specified item to be editable. return YES; } - (UITableViewCellEditingStyle)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView editingStyleForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { return UITableViewCellEditingStyleNone; } - (BOOL)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView shouldIndentWhileEditingRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { return NO; } Thanks for the help. mcb

  • Keep an ASP.NET IIS website responsive when time between visits is long

    - by Abel
After years of ASP.NET development I'm actually quite surprised that I can't seem to find a satisfying solution for this. Why does an IIS ASP.NET site always seem to fall asleep (for 2-6 seconds) after a certain time of inactivity (after several hours), during which no HTTP response is sent from server to client. This happens on any type of site, one page or many, db or not, regardless the settings. How can I fix this? During the wait time, the server is not busy and there are no high peaks or (.NET) memory shortages. My guess is, it has to do with Windows moving the IIS process to the background and its memory to the page file, but I'm not sure. Anybody any idea? EDIT: one solution is to send some HTTP request once an hour or so, but I hope for something more constructive. EDIT: what I meant is: after hours of inactivity, it pauses several seconds on any new HTTP request.

  • Is Ubuntu MAAS free? Will it remain like that?

    - by Bruno Pereira
Ubuntu MAAS, very cool, awesome in fact, looks like a unique tool for several jobs. It looks free, but part of its documentation starts already with clauses that would scare anyone with interest in it: Documentation is copy righted by Canonical; Documentation must be used only for non-commercial purposes; If documentation is distributed within the non-commercial clause you must retain copyright; It just sounds a lot for a guide on how to install MAAS + Juju + Openstack and that scares me a bit. Under what license is Ubuntu MAAS distributed and what would be the reasoning for being so worried about copyrighting a guide like that so heavily? Is Ubuntu MAAS free? Will it continue like that?

  • how to put jcheckbox to table cell?

    - by joseph
    Hello, I cannot put jChceckBox to jTable cell. More likely I can put checkBox to table, but when I run module with that table, the cell where should be checkBox shows text "true" or "false". The behaviors of that cell are the same like checkbox, but it shows text value instead of checkbox. Here is the code. DefaultTableModel dm = new DefaultTableModel(); dm.setDataVector(new Object[][]{{"dd", "Edit", "Delete"}, {"dd","Edit", "Delete"}}, new Object[]{"Include","Component", "Ekvi"}); jTable1 = new javax.swing.JTable(); jTable1.setModel(dm); JCheckBox chBox=new JCheckBox(); jTable1.getColumn("Include").setCellEditor(new DefaultCellEditor(chBox)); jScrollPane1.setViewportView(jTable1);

  • Reasonable size for "filesystem reserved blocks" for non-OS disks?

    - by j-g-faustus
When creating a file system ( mkfs ...) the file system reserves 5% of the space for its own use because, according to man tune2fs: Reserving some number of filesystem blocks for use by privileged processes is done to avoid filesystem fragmentation, and to allow system daemons, such as syslogd(8), to continue to function correctly after non-privileged processes are prevented from writing to the filesystem. But with large drives 5% is quite a lot of space. I have 4x1.5 TB drives for data storage (the OS runs on a separate disk), so the default setting would reserve 300 GB, which is an order of magnitude more than the the entire OS drive. The reserved space can be tweaked, but what is a reasonable size for a data disk? Can I set it to zero, or could that lead to issues with fragmentation?

  • Why can't I save CSS changes in FireBug?

    - by Dean
FireBug is the most convenient tool I've found for editing CSS - so why isn't there a simple "Save" option? I am always finding myself making tweaks in FireBug, then going back to my original .css file and replicating the tweaks. Has anyone come up with a better solution? EDIT: I'm aware the code is stored on a server (in most cases not my own), but I use it when building my own websites. Firebug's just using the .css file FireFox downloaded from the server, it knows precisely what lines in which files its editing, I can't see why there's not an "Export" or "Save" option which allows you to store the new .css file. (Which I could then replace the remote one with). I have tried looking in temporary locations, and choosing file-save and experimenting with the output options on FireFox, but I still haven't found a way. Here's hoping someone has a nice solution... EDIT 2: The Official Group has a lot of questions, but no answers.

• Desktop sharing options for Ubuntu 12.04 with Unity

    - by Stefan Buynov
I would like to be able to access my office Ubuntu 12.04 machine from home, from a Mac Mini with Mac OSX. I have a VPN and I am able to access my office machine over SSH, so connectivity is not a problem. I browsed other questions, and it seems that there are several options: VNC XRDP FreeNX (haven't heard this one before) Are there any other? I have been using Remote Desktop on Windows before, and I actually like it. Not sure how well is XRDP implemented. I also used VNC several years back, and I didn't like its performance back then - not sure if things have changed since then. As I said above, the machine I want to access is running Ubuntu 12.04, with Unity. And I am using Unity by choice - I really like it and would like to continue using it :) The client computer is running Mac OSX (Snow Leopard). Based on your previous experience what is the best setup for this environment?

  • Permanently write variables to a php file with php

    - by Oliver
I need to be able to permanently change variables in a php file using php. I am creating a multilanguage site using codeigniter and using the language helper which stores the text in php files in variables in this format: $lang['title'] = "Stuff"; I've been able to access the plain text of the files using fopen() etc and I it seems that I could probably locate the areas I want to edit with with regular expressions and rewrite the file once I've made the changes but it seems a bit hacky. Is there any easy way to edit these variables permanently using php? Cheers

  • Which VCS is more applicable for our workflow?

    - by Thomas Mancini
Currently we have code stored on a shared network drive and do not use any kind of VCS. The code stored on our shared network drive is always being backed up. We would like to keep things as close to they are now as possible, while using some kind of VCS software. I am envisioning a centralized workflow with each developer having a local copy of the code on his/her machine. We don't do any branching or working offline. Typically when we spin off a new version we would just copy the current working directory to a new directory. I believe we would continue doing this and just create a repository for the new version. I would rather not get into an argument over which VCS is better, just hoping to get some opinions for which is best suited and most applicable for what we are trying to do.

  • A RecursiveParentChildIterator -- like the RecursiveDirectoryIterator

    - by Stephen J. Fuhry
There are tons of examples of using the RecursiveIterator to flatten a tree structure.. but what about using it to explode a tree structure? Is there an elegant way to use this, or some other SPL library to recursively build a tree (read: turn a flat array into array of arbitrary depth) given a table like this: SELECT id, parent_id, name FROM my_tree EDIT: You know how you can do this with Directories? $it = new RecursiveDirectoryIterator("/var/www/images"); foreach(new RecursiveIteratorIterator($it) as $file) { echo $file . PHP_EOL; } .. What if you could do something like this: $it = new RecursiveParentChildIterator($result_array); foreach(new RecursiveIteratorIterator($it) as $group) { echo $group->name . PHP_EOL; // this would contain all of the children of this group, recursively $children = $group->getChildren(); } :END EDIT

  • Open-Source, Consensus-Based Development

    - by user20037
Question: Is there an open source license that requires that my name (or a name that I want to promote) will always be associated with a project and derivations of it? (Either within the copyright notice (©) or other.) Motivation: - My main motivation is to gain reputation. If it gained wide use, it could look very good on resume (I understand this is a long shot). - An additional benefit is that it would explicitly state to prospective employers that this code was used by myself before I started with the company and will continue to be used when I leave. It is my understanding: I am aware that 99.9% of open-source projects never take off, and that I am taking a long shot in regard to advancing reputation/career. I understand that many don't read/respect licenses. I understand that open source projects take a lot of time to manage. I understand that 'Concensus-Based Development' is the best chance at motivating a community and that I may/will loose substantial control.
