• VBA Macro On Timer style to run code every set number of seconds, i.e. 120 seconds

  I have a need to run a piece of code every 120 seconds. I am looking for an easy way to do this in VBA. I know that it would be possible to get the timer value from the Auto_Open event to prevent having to use a magic number, but I can't quite get how to fire off a timer to get something to run every 120 seconds. I don't really want to use an infinite loop with a sleep if I can avoid it.   Mathematica has a built-in function ArgMax for functions over infinite domains, based on the standard mathematical definition. The analog for finite domains is a handy utility function. Given a function and a list (call it the domain of the function), return the element(s) of the list that maximize the function. • change view with onSensorChanged result

  I have a view, set by setContentView(new CompassView(this)); I have the onDraw and update methods filled out. What I need to do with the view CompassView is update my view with the new data at the end of the call in the onSensorChanged method. The methods I have to fill out, I believe, are the surfaceChanged and surfaceCreated. They are normally using threads which takes care of the update and onDraw calls but I removed the thread because when the thread was enabled, in the infinite while loop I was never getting any azimuth value what so ever.

  While implementing a FIFO I have used the following structure: struct Node { T info_; Node* link_; Node(T info, Node* link=0): info_(info), link_(link) {} }; I think this a well known trick for lots of STL containers (for example for List). Is this a good practice? What it means for compiler when you say that Node has a member with a type of it's pointer? Is this a kind of infinite loop? And finally, if this is a bad practice, how I could implement a better FIFO. EDIT: People, this is all about implemenation. I am enough familiar with STL library, and know a plenty of containers from several libraries. Just I want to discuss with people who can gave a good implementation or a good advice.

• jQuery Validate - can I re-validate a group of fields after changing one?

  I'm using jQuery Validate and would like to re-validate a group of fields whenever one of them is changed (or possibly, whenever one of them validates successfully). My attempts so far just create infinite loops. Is this possible, or does the plugin design preclude it? (Specifically, I've got a method that requires at least X of group Y to be filled out, and as soon as that's true, I'd like all those fields to re-validate. Currently I'm clearing out their error messages with my own code, but that's a hack - it also hides unrelated validation problems until the form is re-submitted.)

• jQuery slide up/down on hover bug

  Hi! I have one large div with one smaller div inside it. The smaller div is at first displayed as hidden. When the user hovers the mouse over the large container-div the smaller div is animated in with the show/hide-functions. So far everything works fine. However. The smaller div is animated in from the bottom - so if I let the cursor hover over the container at the very bottom, it's hovering over the animation of the smaller div while it's sliding in. So now the cursor is hovering over the smaller div instead of the larger div, and thus triggering the hide-function on the smaller div. This creates an infinite loop of show/hide calls as the smaller div slides in and out of where the cursor is pointing. Any ideas how to avoid this and not break the hovering on the container as the smaller div enters?

When I checked the Thread count in perfmon there was around 7000 threads created in worker process.   Greetings, I have some control which display bunch of textblocks and image. I would like the image to be surrounded by text. I have already implemented some functionality by using FlowDocument and custom bindable run control. (These controls are included inside user control). When I generate lots of these controls in treeview, application goes into infinite loop. I asked on forums before about this problem and the answer was that it can be WPF issue. Howver when I removed bindable run from my user control, problem dissappeared. Now I am trying to implement other solution where image will be surrounded by text. Can someone please help me? • python: can't terminate a thread hung in socket.recvfrom() call

  Hello, everyone I cannot get a way to terminate a thread that is hung in a socket.recvfrom() call. For example, ctrl+c that should trigger KeyboardInterrupt exception can't be caught.   ini_set('max_execution_time',0); ini_set('memory_limit','1000M'); These are the first two lines at the very top of my script. I was under the impression if I ran something via cron memory limits didn't apply, but I was wrong. Safe mode is off and when I test to see if these values are being set they are but I keep getting the good ol' "PHP Fatal: Memory exhausted" error. Any ideas what I may be doing wrong? And whats the "more elegant way" of writing "infinite" for the "memory limit" value is it -1 or something?

  Is there a simple way to inject a dependency into every repository instance in Doctrine2 ? I have tried listening to the loadClassMetadata event and using setter injection on the repository but this naturally resulted in a infinite loop as calling getRepository in the event triggered the same event.   Hi all! I've got a cms-driven website, with no option to change the code. What I want to accomplish is creating friendly url's, using only apaches mod-rewrite engine. The problem is I'm creating an infinite loop, because I first redirect the original url (index.php?id=21) to a friendly one (/friendly/) and then rewrite the '/friendly' part back to 'id=21' I know there should be an extra condition or parameter to avoid looping in this case, but I can´t get one of the possible solutions to work. • Calling same function until it connect to server

  I am in the process of designing a system where i need to keep on trying to connect to MQ server unitl i get a connection. By default if the MQ is not availlble it will thorugh exception. How can call the same method again and again until i get the connection. I know i can use recursion, is there any better way to do it . Becuase i would like to avoid infinite loops. I also want to wait the the furthere processing until i get connection. I am using .net 2.0 with C#. It is window Service application.

• simplemodal contact form does not close after sending mail in ie8

  hi, i am using the simplemodal contact form for my website. it works perfectly on safari, firefox and opera on mac os, and firefox and chrome on windows. the only issue i have is with ie8. when i click the "send" button the mail is actually sent but i get an error message (alert window with "unknown" in it) and then everything seems to be in some infinite loop with the "loading.gif" turning and turning. it never gets to the step where i ahve the message "your mail has been sucessfully sent" although like i said the mail is sent. any idea where the problem is coming from ? thanks for your help. frank

• Is there any valid reason radians are used as the inputs to trig function in many modern languages?

  Is there any pressing reason trig functions should use radian inputs in modern programming languages? As far as I know radians are typically ugly to deal with except in three cases: (1) You want to compute an arc length and you know the angle of the arc and (2) You need to do symbolic calculus with trig functions (3) certain infinite series expansion look prettier if the input is in radians. None of these scenarios seem like a worthy justification for every programming language I am familiar with using radian inputs for Sin, Cos, Tangent, etc... The third one sounds good because it might mean one gets faster computations using radians (very slightly faster- the cost of one additional floating point multiplication ) , but I am dubious even of that because most commonly the developer had to take an extra step to put the angle in radians in the first place. The other two are ridiculous justifications for all the added obscurity.

  I am considering a web application that would have the same kind of multi user, automatic saving, infinite undo / replay capabilities that you see in Google Wave and Etherpad (albeit on a drastically smaller scale and userbase). Before I go away and reinvent the wheel, is this something that has already been addressed as either a piece of technology or library, or even just a design pattern. I know this isn't necessarily the best Stack Overflow question as there is probably not a "right" answer, but my Google-fu has failed me and I'd just like a reading list! Ordinarily I would be developing under python/django but this is not a firm requirement just a preference :)

The reason is that, since the object and context are now dirtied, Core Data may validate that key again later. If you keep performing a coercion in a validation method, this can therefore produce an infinite loop. So when I modify a value in a validation method, the context gets dirtied? And the next time I save, the validation happens again - and when I change the value even if the validation is OK, then the context is again dirtied, and revalidated again - and I change the value, and Core Data validates, again, because the context is dirtied. And so on...for ever... is that right? Or did they try to say something different?
