  • Using the apostrophe for PHP associative array element's name

    Hi I've been trying to figure out how to put something like Joe's Fruits into a PHP array something like this: <?php $arr = array( 'Fruitland' => '3ddlskdf3', 'Joe's Fruits' => 'dddfdfer3', ); ?> Using the above for example (stackoverflow's code color should tell you this by now), the array will take it as 'Joe' between the two apostrophes instead of the whole 'Joe's Fruits' is there any way I can do this without just calling it 'Joes Fruits'?

  • "The image <name> cannot be displayed because it contains errors" when using pchart Render method

    Hi, I am trying to use the pchart package (over php) to build (and directly display) graphs/charts. At this time, I am just trying to run their provided example (Example1.php), where I just have replaced the final: $Test-Render("example1.png"); by $Test-Stroke(); But When I do this, I get:" The image cannot be displayed because it contains errors" on the browser. If I leave the original "$Test-Render(...)" the generated image is OK. (but not sent) I have read that there is (was?) an issue with mozilla/Firefox browsers regarding images being required twice and the REFER URL, but when I browse at the pchart home page, I can use their "sanboxes" and get the result of my tests directly displayed on my browser (http://pchart.sourceforge.net/demo.php). ... So their must be a way (or a nice work around) to send the generated graphs directely to the browser successfuly. If your answer is to generate the image (i.e. use Render) and then send it afterwards, please but accurate on how to do this (how do I destroy the generated files automaticaly, permissions...) I am new to this, sorry advance if it's obvious...;-)

    A noob here. I have a personal Macbook and I want to use Git to track the changes etc. I want to just init a repo on my macbook and work there. Is this a good idea? What if: I have a main repo somewhere in my Macbook HD, like, /Users/user/projects/project1 and clone it to another area on my macbook where I actually perform development? But there is a lot of redundancy in this. I am a little confused and want to know what are the usual steps folks take in a similar personal development environment. Thanks a lot.

    I would like to separate the API I'm working on into two sections: 'bare-bones' and 'cushy'. The idea is that all method calls in the 'cushy' section could be expressed in terms of the ones in the 'bare-bones' section, that is, they would only serve as convenience methods for the quick-and-dirty. The reason I would like to do this is that very often when people are beginning to use an API for the first time, they are not interested in details and performance: they just want to get it working. Anybody tried anything similar before? I'm particularly interested in naming conventions and organizing the code.

    For a web application with connection polling enabled, is it better to work with a locally scoped connection object or instance scoped connection object. I know there is probably not a big performance improvement between the two (because of the pooling) but would you say that one follows a better pattern than the other.   • logging a facebook user ID to a local database from a facebook 'like'

    I am creating a site that allow users to vote on webpages similar to digg.com. Users login with 'facebook connect' and logged in users can submit, vote, comment, etc and these details appear in their profile ie. number of submits, votes, comments, etc. I have also added in facebook 'likes' to the system. I would however like to be able replace the internal voting platform with facebook 'likes'. What I would like to be able to do is identify when any of the site users vote on a facebook 'like'. Although a facebook 'like' can be made outside of my site I am only interested when a logged in user submits a 'like' so this can contribute towards their stats. Is this possible, if so how?     Here is VDS server with ip(for example 105.123.123.123) with working apache service. And there is a desktop computer with linux on board(but really I presume there is no difference). I need to type on web browser address like someaddress.com and to see website situated at my server. My /etc/hosts: 127.0.0.1 localhost 105.123.123.123 someaddress.com 105.123.123.123 www.someaddress.com But it doesn't work. I see real someaddress.com website. What can be wrong. It will be great if you help me with that. P.S. Why I need this. There is one project with fixed links(like someaddress.com/inf). And I need to test it.

I'm trying to use AddEventListener on a loop from 1 to 30 so that when I change the value of the select, the image src is updated (and the image changes).     lanchpad.net states that for project Emle - Electronic Mathematics Laboratory Equipment 2.0 series is the current focus of development This is what I have done so far: Set the launchpad.net project to import from the sourceforge.net project Emle (this actually set the launchpad.net project to mirror the sourceforge.net project rather than just inport the content once) Examined the launchpad.net project to see that the three commits (#1 - #3) which were done in the sourceorge.net project previousley made it into launchpad.net. Used bzrto get the launchpad.net project which I did while is was still set for mirroring. Made three changes and commits using bzr (#4 - #6). Was unable to see the changes on the launchpad.net site. Requested the mirroring to be stopped (it did).     Hi all, I want to write some integration tests to see how my spring-managed DAO's behave when talking to the appengine datastore. Following the spring manual I will be providing my test-classes with the proper annotations: @RunWith(SpringJUnit4ClassRunner.class) @ContextConfiguration(locations = { "classpath:applicationContext.xml" }) After a lot of browsing I found this blog post dating back to august '09 from somebody doing exactly what I want to achieve. It involves writing a TestEnvironment class that implements ApiProxy.Environment plus talking to ApiProxyLocalImpl. However, if I look at the current docs (for version 1.3.1), it seems that this has been replaced by newing an instance of the framework provided LocalDatastoreServiceTestConfig which is passed to a LocalServiceTestHelper. It is too bad that the appengine docs don't show an example how to do this with JPA because then the spring wiring would be trivial. Trying to follow the route outlined in the blog posting has me running into a compiler messages telling me that classes such as ApiProxyLocalImpl are not visible by me. Hence, there must be a new way of doing it, which probably involves the LocalServiceTestHelper. My question: Does anybody know how? I know I will need to configure an EntityManagerFactory and provide it with the Datastore connection somehow... but how? :)

    Hi, I found several solutions for creating Flash LSOs from JavaScript (for example: http://www.nuff-respec.com/technology/cross-browser-cookies-with-flash ) If Page (www.hostA.com/index.html) and the .swf file are from the same site, everything works fine. No I'm trying to load the page form www.hostA.com/index.html, which includes www.hostB.com/flashcookie.swf (different sites). But then I cannot read or store the LSO. I have tried several configurations (crossdomain.xml, Security.allowDomain("...") ), but nothing works. Is this kind of cross domain access to a LSO possible? Thanks -stephan

    I want to create slug URL's from a users title in my system. If a user types "The best way's to get slim; period!", then I want the slug to be "the-best-ways-to-get-slim-period". Also, if someone has already created a page with that title I want the slug to be "the-best-ways-to-get-slim-period-1". My question is how can I check the database before a record is created? Ok, obviously I am going to have to perform a check in the database, and then a write. That's 2 queries. Is this the normal way to do it? Also, are there any conventional regular expressions for filtering non alpha/number characters and replacing spaces with hyphens? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.
