• Visual studio 2010 setup project problem.

  Hi there, I've made an application that uses .NET framework 3.5 SP1 and SQL Server 2008 Express. Application is fine and now i'm going to to make a setup project for this. When I first build my setup it was fine as all the prerequisites were not included in setup. But I want my setup to install .NET 3.5 SP1 and SQL SERVER 2008 Express also. So for this I've changed the options in setup project's properties from "Download prerequisites from following location" to "Download prerequisites from the same location as my application". In addition to that I've also checked the options above like .NET 3.5 SP1 and SQL Server 2008 Express etc. After doing all this I build my project again. This time I'm Getting 57 Errors. Error 1 The install location for prerequisites has not been set to 'component vendor's web site' and the file 'DotNetFX35SP1\dotNetFX20\aspnet.msp' in item '.NET Framework 3.5 SP1' can not be located on disk. See Help for more information. • An SVN error (200 OK) when checking out from my online repo

  I'm trying to setup my first repo on my host and am getting this error when I use Tortoise to checkout the project: Error: OPTIONS of 'http://mywebsite.com/svn/myproject': 200 OK (http://mywebsite.com) Here is what I did: 1) ssh into my host and head to /home/myaccnt and 'svnadmin create svn' 2) create my project repo: 'svn mkdir svn/myproject' 3) add files to the repo: cd /home/myaccnt/.../myproject (which has /tags, /branch, /trunk); 'svn import file:///home/myaccnt/svn/myproject' (the big ole list of files being added is seen at this point.) At this point I think that I've setup my repo and imported my project into the repo. So, I'm ready to checkout using TortoiseSVN on my Windows box. So: 4) In the folder I'd like to checkout to, I rightclick and 'SVN Checkout' and then make sure my URL is: http://mywebsite.com/svn/myproject Result? Error: OPTIONS of 'http://mywebsite.com/svn/myproject': 200 OK (http://mywebsite.com) Anyone have any thoughts for me? • Excel Range Format: Number is automatically formatted when Range::Value2 is set

  I have an Excel addin written in C# that imports a text file into Excel worksheet. Some of the fields in the file are text and some oare numbers. Problem Steps: Change the System's Regional Settings to Dutch (Belgium) Open Excel and import the file into Excel. Records contain values such as 78,1118 which gets converted to 781.118. Note that in Dutch(Belgium), COMMA is the decimal character and DOT is the thousand character. I do not require the number to be formatted automatically but just want to display whatver I get from the file (78,1118). If I set the cell's NumberFormat to "@" i.e. Text, then it displays an error (SmartTag) saying "Number stored as Text". I know I can change the settings by going to the "Options" box but I dont want to change any user options in Excel for this. I have tried setting the cell's Value2 with an "'" (apostrophe) but the same error is displayed. If I set the cell's format to something else after the value is set then the actual value changes and I loose the decimal. Is there a way in Excel to just display the value and NOT display the "Number Stored as Text" error in cell?

• Access custom error messages for InArray validator when using Zend_Form_Element_Select

  Hello, I'm using Zend Framework 1.62 (becuase we are deploying the finished product to a Red Hat instance, which doesn't have a hgih enough PHP version to support ZF1.62). When creating a Form using Zend Form, I add a select element, add some multi options. I use the Zend Form as an in-object validation layer, passing an objects values through it and using the isValid method to determine if all the values fall within normal parameters. Zend_Form_Element_Select works exactly as expected, showing invalid if any other value is input other than one of the multi select options I added. The problem comes when I want to display the form at some point, I cant edit the error message created by the pre registered 'InArray' validator added automatically by ZF. I know I can disable this behaviour, but it works great apart from the error messages. I've tryed the following: $this->getElement('country')->getValidator('InArray')->setMessage('The country is not in the approved lists of countries'); // Doesn't work at all. $this->getElement('country')->setErrorMessage('The country is not in the approved lists of countries'); // Causes a conflict elswhere in the application and doesnt allow granular control of error messages. • Can a WCF Service provide publish/subscribe activity to a Linux-based C++ client application?

  I have a WCF service written to provide certain functionality to intranet-based clients. This is easy when a client is running Windows. I want to implement the same functionality for my Windows clients that is available to my linux clients. My questions are? How can I communicate to a linux c++ based client (supporting callback operations for a publish subscribe) type situation? I am aware of using SOAP over the HTTPBinding but is that the only way (does not support callbacks I believe)? Would the same apply if I were using TCPBinding on the service-side? Currently, the service is set up using TCP but what are my options for the linux client communcation? I read somewhere that messages can also be sent (via webservices I believe) in XML rather than SOAP? Which would be a better approach or how to determine which is a better approach? I am trying to understand the options I would have for a WCF data service if I wanted to communicate with it from a linux client. I appreciate all your help. Thank You, Jeremy

  I'm going through a Django book and I seem to be stuck. The code base used in the book is .96 and I'm using 1.0 for my Django install. The portion I'm stuck at is related to Django comments (django.contrib.comments). When I submit my comments I get "Comment post not allowed (400) Why: Missing content_type or object_pk field". I've found the Django documentation to be a bit lacking in this area and I'm hoping to get some help. The comment box is displayed just fine, it's when I submit the comment that I get the above error (or security warning as it truly appears). • How does GMail implement Comet?

  With the help of HttpWatch, I tried to figure out how GMail implement Comet. I Login in GMail with two account, one in IE and the other in Firefox. Chatting in GTalk in GMail with some magic words like "WASSUP". Then, I logoff both GMail accounts, filter any http content without "WASSUP" string. The result shows which HTTP request is the streaming channel. (Note: I have to logoff. Otherwise, never-ending HTTP would not show content in HttpWatch.) The result is interesting. The URL for stream channel is like: https://mail/channel/bind?VER=8&at=xn3j33vcvk39lkfq..... There is no surprise that GMail do Comet in IE with IFRAME. The Http content starts with " Originally, I guessed that GMail do Comet in Firefox with multipart XmlHttpRequest. To my surprise, the response header doesn't have "multipart/x-mixed-replace" header. The response headers are as below: HTTP/1.1 200 OK Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8 Cache-Control: no-cache, no-store, max-age=0, must-revalidate Pragma: no-cache Expires: Fri, 01 Jan 1990 00:00:00 GMT Date: Sat, 20 Mar 2010 01:52:39 GMT X-Frame-Options: ALLOWALL Transfer-Encoding: chunked X-Content-Type-Options: nosniff Server: GSE X-XSS-Protection: 0 Unfortunately, the HttpWatch doesn't tell whether a HTTP request is from XmlHttpRequest or not. The content is not HTML but JSON. It looks like a response for XHR, but that would not work for Comet without multipart/x-mixed-replace, right? • FireFox Toolbar Prefwindow unload/acceptdialog Event to Update the toolbar

  Hi all, I'm trying to develop a firefox toolbar ;) so my structure is In the options.xul is an PrefWindow which i'm opening over an <toolbarbutton oncommand="esbTb_OpenPreferences()"/> function esbTb_OpenPreferences() { window.openDialog("chrome://Toolbar/content/options.xul", "einstellungen", "chrome,titlebar,toolbar,centerscreen,modal", this);} so in my preferences i can set some checkboxes which indicates what links are presented in my toolbar. So when the preferences window is Closed or the "Ok" button is hitted I want to raise an event or an function which updates via DOM my toolbar. So this is the function which is called when the toolbar is loaded. And i also tried to hand over the window object from the root window( the toolbar) as an argument of the opendialog function changed the function to this. function esbTB_LoadMenue(RootWindow) { var MenuItemNews = RootWindow.getElementById("esbTb_rss_reader"); var MenuItemEservice = RootWindow.getElementById("esbTb_estv");} And then tried to Access the elements over the handover object, but this also not changed my toolbar at runtime. So what i'm trying to do is to change the visibile links in my toolbar during the runtime and I don't get it how I should do that... thanks in advance

• Persisting complex data between postbacks in ASP.NET MVC

  I'm developing an ASP.NET MVC 2 application that connects to some services to do data retrieval and update. The services require that I provide the original entity along with the updated entity when updating data. This is so it can do change tracking and optimistic concurrency. The services cannot be changed. My problem is that I need to somehow store the original entity between postbacks. In WebForms, I would have used ViewState, but from what I have read, that is out for MVC. The original values do not have to be tamper proof as the services treat them as untrusted. The entities would be (max) 1k and it is an intranet app. The options I have come up are: Session - Ruled out - Store the entity in the Session, but I don't like this idea as there are no plans to share session between URL - Ruled out - Data is too big HiddenField - Store the serialized entity in a hidden field, perhaps with encryption/encoding HiddenVersion - The entities have a (SQL) version field on them, which I could put into a hidden field. Then on a save I get "original" entity from the services and compare the versions, doing my own optimistic concurrency. Cookies - Like 3 or 4, but using a cookie instead of a hidden field I'm leaning towards option 4, although 3 would be simpler. Are these valid options or am I going down the wrong track? Is there a better way of doing this?

• What are the limitations of the .NET Assembly format?

  We just ran into an interesting issue that I've not experienced before. We have a large scale production ASP.NET 3.5 SP1 Web App Project in Visual Studio 2008 SP1 which gets compiled and deployed using a Website Deployment Project. Everything has worked fine for the last year, until after a check-in yesterday the app started critically failing with BadImageFormatException. The check-in in question doesn't change anything particularly special and the errors are coming from areas of the app not even changed. Using Reflector we inspected the offending methods to find that there were garbage strings in the code (which Reflector humorously interpreted as Chinese characters). We have consistently reproduced this on several machines so it does not appear to be hardware related. Further inspection showed that those garbage strings did not exist in the Assemblies used as inputs to aspnet_merge.exe during deployment. Web Deployment Project Output Assemblies Properties: Merge all outputs to a single assembly Merge each individual folder output to its own assembly Merge all pages and control outputs to a single assembly Create a separate assembly for each page and control output In the web deployment project properties if we set the merge options to the first option ("Merge all outputs to a single assembly") we experience the issue, yet all of the other options work perfectly! So my question: does anyone know why this is happening? Is there a size-limit to aspnet_merge.exe's capabilities (the resulting merged DLL is around 19.3 MB)? Are there any other known issues with merging the output of WAPs? I would love it if any Assembly format / aspnet_merge gurus know about any such limitations like this. Seems to me like a 25MB Assembly, while big, isn't outrageous. Less disk to hit if it is all pregen'd stuff.

• Running Magento for multiple clients - single Installaton vs. multiple installations

  Hi There I am looking to set-up a Magento (Community Edition) installation for multiple clients and have researched the matter for a few days now. I can see that the Enterprise Edition has what I need in it, but surprisingly I am not willing to shell out the $12,000 odd yearly subscription. It seems there are a few options available to be but I am worried about the performance I will get out of the various options. Option 1) Single install using AITOC advanced permissions module So this is really what I am after; one installation so that I can update my core files all at the same time and also manage all my store users from one place. The problems here are that I don't know anything about the reliability of this extra product and that I have to pay a bit extra. I am also worried that if I have 10 stores running off this one installation it might all slow down so much and keel over as I have heard allot about Magento's slowness. Module Link: http://www.aitoc.com/en/magentomods_advanced_permissions.html Option 2) Multiple installations of Magento on one server for each shop So here I have 10 Magento installations on one server all running happily away not using any extra money, but I now have 10 separate stores to update and maintain which could be annoying. Also I haven't been able to find a whole lot of other people using this method and when I have they are usually asking how to stop their servers from dying. So this route seems like it could be even worse on my server as I will have more going on on my server but if my server could take it each Magento installation would be simpler and less likely to slow down due to each one having to run 10 shops on its own? Option 3) Use lots of servers and lots of Magento installations I just so do not want to do this. Option 4) Buy Magento Enterprise I do not have the money to do this. So which route is less likely to blow up my server? And does anyone have experience with this holy grail of a module? Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for any help - Chris Hopkins

  What options are there for localizing an app on Google App Engine? How do you do it using Webapp, Django, web2py or [insert framework here]. 1. Readable URLs and entity key names Readable URLs are good for usability and search engine optimization (Stack Overflow is a good example on how to do it). On Google App Engine, key based queries are recommended for performance reasons. It follows that it is good practice to use the entity key name in the URL, so that the entity can be fetched from the datastore as quickly as possible. Currently I use the function below to create key names: import re import unicodedata def urlify(unicode_string): """Translates latin1 unicode strings to url friendly ASCII. Converts accented latin1 characters to their non-accented ASCII counterparts, converts to lowercase, converts spaces to hyphens and removes all characters that are not alphanumeric ASCII. Can anyone suggest a method that works with more languages? 2. Translating templates Does Django internationalization and localization work on Google App Engine? Are there any extra steps that must be performed? Is it possible to use Django i18n and l10n for Django templates while using Webapp? The Jinja2 template language provides integration with Babel. How well does this work, in your experience? What options are avilable for your chosen template language? 3. Translated datastore content When serving content from (or storing it to) the datastore: Is there a better way than getting the *accept_language* parameter from the HTTP request and matching this with a language property that you have set with each entity?

• Using EclipseLink

  I am still new to Java and Eclipse and I'm trying to get my application to connect to a database. I think I want to use EclipseLink, but all of the documentation on the matter assumes you already know everything there is to know about everything. I keep getting linked back to this tutorial: http://www.vogella.de/articles/JavaPersistenceAPI/article.html But it's basically useless because it doesn't tell you HOW to do anything. For the Installation section, it tells you to download EclipseLink and gives you a link to the download page, but doesn't tell you what to do with it after you download. The download page doesn't either. I used the "Install new software" option in Eclipse to install EclipseLink into Eclipse, but it gave me like 4 different options, none of which are explained anywhere. It gave me options JPA, MOXy, SDO, etc, but I don't know which one I need. I just installed them all. Everything on the web assumes you are already a Java guru and things that are second nature to Java devs are never explained, so it's very frustrating for someone trying to learn. So how do I install and USE EclipseLink in my project and what do I need to do to connect it to a Microsoft SQL server? Again, I am new to all of this so I have no clue what to do.   Hi I am using prestashop as the cart for my website. I have a problem; the website used to be in dynamic urls. I enabled friendly url writing. The problem is that one page has more than one url. You can access a same page from the dynamic url and static url. In fact a single page has 9 different urls. This obviously creates problems for seo as search engiones penalize my website for this. • Automatically resize jQuery UI dialog to the width of the content loaded by ajax

  I'm having a lot of trouble finding specific information and examples on this. I've got a number of jQuery UI dialogs in my application attached to divs that are loaded with .ajax() calls. They all use the same setup call: $(".mydialog").dialog({ autoOpen: false, resizable: false, modal: true }); I just want to have the dialog resize to the width of the content that gets loaded. Right now, the width just stays at 300px (the default) and I get a horizontal scrollbar. As far as I can tell, "autoResize" is no longer an option for dialogs, and nothing happens when I specify it. I'm trying to not write a separate function for each dialog, so .dialog("option", "width", "500") is not really an option, as each dialog is going to have a different width. Specifying width: 'auto' for the dialog options just makes the dialogs take up 100% of the width of the browser window. What are my options? I'm using jQuery 1.4.1 with jQuery UI 1.8rc1. It seems like this should be something that is really easy. EDIT: I've implemented a kludgy workaround for this, but I'm still looking for a better solution.

• sqlite is required for merb?

  I have a question regarding merb dependency with sqlite. I am going to install merb on my m/c and I don't have sqlite installed on my m/c . I tried this command "gem install merb" and saw following error. If there any way to install merb with mysql please tell me. Building native extensions. This could take a while...
