  • Stop Zabbix notification for nodes under zabbix-proxy when proxy service is down

    I have a zabbix-proxy and 12 nodes in that proxy. Right now whenever proxy service goes down. It send out of reach mail for all the 12 nodes. I want to send mail only for the zabbix proxy not for the nodes under that proxy Updated: Now I am trying to have a single trigger in which I want to check both the conditions like 1-check zabbix-host is not accessble from past x minutes. 2-check the host is not giving any data to the proxy(Host is down). Not the trigger should start shouting onle when we have condition in which proxy is running and node is down. I tried the below but its not working for me.   • Gmail notification in Ubuntu's native mail icon.

    So, new Ubuntu 10.04 up and running. Playing with the interface eventually got me curious about something. Up until now, I've only used the chat and broadcasting functionalities of the mail icon in Ubuntu's top panel, mostly because I take care of my mail on firefox so I don't need one more program (empathy) running on my poor little netbook. I'm currenty using gnome-gmail to set gmail as my default mail client in Ubuntu. But, when I click on the "Set up mail" item, inside the Panel's Mail icon, it simply brings up empathy. My question is: Is it possible (in any way whatsoever) to have my gmail notifications up there, configured so that clicking it will just take me to a gmail tab in Firefox? (instead of opening up empathy) This is really just some frivolous interest of mine, nothing important. Right now I'm using check-gmail to notify me of new mail, but the panel is really cramped up on my netbook, so it'd be nice to free up some room by getting rid of check-gmail and only using Ubuntu's mail icon. Ok, hope I was clear enough.

    In Windows Server 2008 R2, it is possible to read the Event Viewer for EventID 1020 which is an indication that the DHCP pool is running low on addresses. What if I have two DHCP servers in my domain that use an 80/20 split scope to take a /24 pool of DHCP-allocated IP addresses and split it amongst the two servers according to this Technet Article? In this case, since the scope is split, how can I tell if the total DHCP pool, which is split amongst the two DHCP servers, is beginning to run low on address space?

  • Turn off email notification from abrt (Automatic Bug Reporting Tool)

    I'm configuring CentOS 6.2 and have seen a few "[abrt] full crash report" emails. I understand that abrt is useful for creating crash dumps and what not, so I don't want to disable the service, I just would like to stop getting the crash report emails. I probably have to add something to the config file in /etc/abrt/abrt.conf. I can't seem to find anything in my searches. Any idea? Thanks. Edit: Here is my abrt.conf, which is rather simple. I don't plan on wanting to check the server every so often, so how can I have an email sent when a drive goes kapüt or otherwise has problems? Keying off the event log would be OK, but how does one set up notifications on it when the exact event ID(s) may not be known?

  • Getting Outlook notification on more than just Inbox messages

    Outlook can notify the user every time a new email is received in the Inbox folder. (On Mac it also shows the # of unread messages in the Inbox). I have some server rules setup which makes certain emails go straight to a custom folder. I was wondering if there is an easy way to make Outlook do this before new messages in All folders or better yet, some customizable set of folders. I am using Outlook 2011 on Mac.

  • Notification if SyncToy fails

    I support a number of laptop users. In the past (before there were many laptops), each user's computer was set up so that their My Documents folder was mapped to a shared folder on the server. This worked very well for desktops, but has several obvious downsides for laptops (no files when you're off-site, etc). I'm exploring several alternatives for laptops to better map the shared drives, and SyncToy seems the best so far. I have a couple trial users set up so that it syncs automatically whenever they log in, along with a desktop icon they can click if they know they'll need something saved before the next login. My problem is that I'm concerned how I, as the maintainer of this system, can spot failures. I don't want my first indication of a problem to come after a user drops their laptop in a lake and it turns out nothing was synced for the last year. Any ideas?

  • Remove Sync Center icon

    I accidentally marked a shared folder as "Available Offline" in Windows Explorer on Windows 8.1 computer. This seems to have "woken up" the Sync Center and caused the Sync Center icon to be displayed in the system notification area. Even though I've undid that by marking the folder as not available offline, and furthermore have reset CSC and disabled Offline Files, the Sync Center icon still appears in the overflow section of the system notification area. How do I remove the Sync Center icon and preferably disable the process that is displaying it? Debugging info: The registry shows that stuff is enabled, even though the Sync Center and Offline Files dialog don't indicate that anything is active.   • How can I get a notification from my server if the mail queue stops

    I am using QMail with Plesk 10 on an Apache server. Occasionally the mail queue stops processing emails - this most recently happenend when an email account got hacked and started sending hundreds of emails. We did not find out about this until a client of ours contacted to say that their emails were not being recieved, so we checked the mail queue and lo and behold the service had stopped. In future I would like to be notified when the mailqueue stops. How can I set something up so the server will run a command whenever the mailqueue stops?

  • Battery notification always showing 'xx% remaining' with Windows 7 on an acer Aspire 5590

    My battery level always shows up as something like 55% remaining or 63% remaining ...etc despite that it is in fact charging. Additionally it doesn't go any further than 80% remaining even if I keep it in charge forever. This leads me to a side annoying effect which is that I cannot proceed to install Windows 7 Service Pack 1 as its installer requires the laptop to be plugged with a power cord. My laptop is plugged with the power cord but because of the above issue (it doesn't display anything else than the xx% remaining) Windows thinks that the laptop is using its battery and that the power cord is disconnected. I have installed the original acer ePower Management tool that let you configure the power scheme... etc, I was hoping that this would help me circumvent the 80% issue but it doesn't.

  • how to include error messages into backup reports for SQL Server 2008 R2?

    Right now I have daily (differential) and weekly (full) backups set on my SQL Server 2008 R2 as jobs for SQL Server Agent with email notifications if job fails. I do get emails like this: JOB RUN: 'Daily backup.Diff backup' was run on 4/11/2012 at 3:00:00 AM DURATION: 0 hours, 0 minutes, 28 seconds STATUS: Failed MESSAGES: The job failed. The Job was invoked by Schedule 9 (Daily backup.Diff backup). The last step to run was step 1 (Diff backup). but often that happens because we delete/create new databases - and diff backup fails. And the only way for me to see the actual reason is to go to Log Viewer - Maintenance Plans logs. Is it possible to include "Error Message" field from the logs into notification emails? And more generic - is it possible to change notification email templates somehow?.. Thanks you.

    Hi! We used Delphi 6 long times ago. Our problem, that Delphi have two problems with DFMs: 1.) When some linked resource (like DataSet) will removed, Delphi many times forget to ask you that "some of the resources are linked, you need to redirect...". This happens, when the actual form is not added to the project, or it is not opened. 2.) When we only open the DFM, and only see some thing, may we change it (active TabSheet, form position). Then Delphi auto save the form - and sometimes it drops the links. Another problem with this that we used SVN, and SVN detect these changes... We thought that we change DFM files to read only, but this can prevent the usage of SVN too... So somebody please help us: have the Delphi some extension (like gexpert) that can lock the DFMs to avoid changes, and some other tool to see that dataset is used in other forms or not?   • Rebuilding indexes does not change the fragmentation % for nonclustered indexes.

    For starters, I am no DBA and I am working on rebuilding the indexes. I made use of the amazing TSQL script from msdn to alter index based onthe fragmente percent returned by dm_db_index_physical_stats and if the fragment percent is more than 30 then do a REBUILD or do a REORGANISE. What I found out was, in the first iteration, there were 87 records which needed defrag.I ran the script and all the 87 indexes (clustered & nonclustered) were rebuilt or reindexed. When I got the stats from dm_db_index_physical_stats , there were still 27 records which needed defrag and all of theses were NON CLUSTERED Indexes. All the Clustered indexes were fixed. No matter how many times I run the script to defrag these records, I still have the same indexes to be defraged and most of them with the same fragmentation %. Nothing seems to change after this. Note: I did not perform any inserts/ updates/ deletes to the tables during these iterations. Still the Rebuild/reorganise did not result in any change.   • In Android (on JB), how can I add an action to a custom rich notification?

    I've been playing with the new rich notificaitons in Jelly Bean, and everything works as expected when I set up a new notificaiton using the templates Notification.BigPictureStyle, Notification.BigTextStyle, or Notification.InboxStyle. I can use the Notification.Builder.addAction() method, and the action buttons show up at the bottom of the extended notification. But when I try to create a cutsom notification using Notification.bigContentView, the action buttons never show up. Just to clarify, if I never set bigContentView, the buttons do show up. But as soon as that field is set to a custom RemoteViews object, the buttons are gone. Does anyone have any ideas on why this is happening?

    I have developed my own little framework for webpages. And for different websites I had to change some parts of the framework respectively developed new features / improvements. But in some cases I missed to copy the changes in the original framework code. How do you manage your frameworks? I copy the complete framework to a library folder in my projects folder structure. So I have a copy of the framework in every project. I would like to have it on one place in order to modify / improve / bugfix it once and then distribute it on the projects.

  • How to change last letter of filename to lowercase if it is a letter?

    I have been given data which cannot be interpreted by my software unless it has a lowercase letter at the end. The data was delivered with an uppercase letter at the end. Somehow I need to first recursively loop through all folders and find whether the filename ends with a letter and then change it to lowercase. I think python could do this, but I don´t know how,.
