  • How to disable power to USB ports when laptop is in sleep mode

    I have a Windows7 laptop with two external 2.5" HDDs and a cooling pad connected through USB ports. When I put the laptop to sleep, these devices are still powered on - the fan in the cooling pad is still spinning, the drives are still spinning. I want to set it all up so that they power down when in sleep. I tried setting the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power option in the USB Root Hubs' Properties in Device Manager and enabling USB selective suspend in power options - it didn't work. As it's a laptop, BIOS options are extremely locked down, so I can't even see anything relevant to sleep in there. Is it even possible to do this?

  • How to fix a bad case rattle

    I have a full sized ATX case with several fans, including one on the door/removable side. This fan makes the "door" rattle or vibrate loudly when the fan runs at full speed, such as at startup. I can stop the rattle temporarily by placing my hand on the "door", or pushing an object next to it. Do you have any suggestions for a permanent solution? Note: The "door" in question is a slide out panel with two twist screws at the back to hold it in.

  • New power supply and now HDDs are not recognized

    So I upgraded to a new X4 ULTRA power supply that was recommended to me by a local TigerDirect store. After installing it along with a new liquid cooling system, I booted it up and it automatically fried my CD Drive. After that I noticed that the OS wouldn't start and figured out that none of the 4 HDDs in my computer were being recognized by the BIOS. I feel them spool at a steady pace and have tried new cables and connections but to no avail. I triple checked all of the connections and cables and have no idea what is wrong. This isn't the first time I changed a PS or CPU cooling system but I am at a dead end. Any ideas, aside from buying a USB HDD reader and seeing if they are all fried? Also, this is a stock Gateway mobo with the mobo USB connections already dead. Could the new PS have fried the SATA connections??

    Hi all, I've done a few searches and couldn't find an answer. I'm trying to update the status of my business's "Application Page" (not personal page, and not "Fan Page") on Facebook. Two questions for the community: 1) How to update the "Application Page" status programmatically? I found the answer for a "Fan Page" here (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2097665/authorizing-a-facebook-fan-page-for-status-updates). Does anyone think it will work for an "Application Page" as well? 2) How to update the "Application Page" status through a third party service? Ideally, I'd like to post to one location and have it show up a) on my business twitter status and b) on my Facebook "Application Page" status.   • Accessing two sides of a user-user relationship in rails

    Basically, I have a users model in my rails app, and a fanship model, to facilitate the ability for users to become 'fans' of each other. In my user model, I have: has_many :fanships has_many :fanofs, :through => :fanships In my fanship model, I have: belongs_to :user belongs_to :fanof, :class_name => "User", :foreign_key => "fanof_id" My fanship table basically consists of :id, :user_id and :fanof_id. This all works fine, and I can see what users a specific user is a fan of like: <% @user.fanofs.each do |fan| %> #things <% end %> My question is, how can I get a list of the users that are a fan of this specific user? I'd like it if I could just have something like @user.fans, but if that isn't possible what is the most efficient way of going about this? Thanks!

  • SSIS 2008 Rows per batch and Maximum insert commit size

    I've got about 100 million rows that I'm moving in SSIS 2008 via a Data Flow Task. It's pretty much a straight table data copy using a Multicast. My question is this: Using the OLE DB Destination Editor I have two options: Rows per batch and Maximum insert commit size. What are good settings for this? I've only been able to find that you are recommended to set Maximum insert commit size to 2147483647 instead of 0, but then tweak both these settings based on testing. I'm curious to find out if anyone has discovered anything useful in their own management of these values.

I'm trying to wrap my head around the concept of TDD, but I can't see to figure out how a simple test like "Controller XYZ Exists" would look. In addition, what would the unit test look like to test an Action Result off a view?

  • JDBC connection for a background thread being closed accessing in Websphere

    Hi, I have an application running in Websphere Portal Server inside of Websphere Application Server 6.0 (WAS). In this application for one particular functionality that takes a long time to complete, I am firing a new thread that performs this action. This new thread opens a new Session from Hibernate and starts performing DB transactions with it. Sometimes (haven't been able to see a pattern), the transactions inside the thread work fine and the process completes successfully. Other times however I get the errors below: org.hibernate.exception.GenericJDBCException: could not load an entity: [OBJECT NAME#218294] ... Caused by: com.ibm.websphere.ce.cm.ObjectClosedException: DSRA9110E: Connection is closed. Method cleanup failed while trying to execute method cleanup on ManagedConnection WSRdbManagedConnectionImpl@642aa0d8 from resource jdbc/MyJDBCDataSource. Caught exception: com.ibm.ws.exception.WsException: DSRA0080E: An exception was received by the Data Store Adapter. See original exception message: Cannot call 'cleanup' on a ManagedConnection while it is still in a transaction.. How can I stop this from happening? Why does it seem that WAS wants to kill my connections even though they're not done. Is there a way I can stop WAS from attempting to close this particular connection? Thanks

  • Google App Engine: JDO does the job, JPA does not

    I have setup a project using both Jdo and Jpa. I used Jpa Annotation to Declare my Entity. Then I setup my testCases based on LocalTestHelper (from Google App Engine Documentation). When I run the test, a call to makePersistent of Jdo:PersistenceManager is perfectly OK; a call to persist of Jpa:EntityManager raised an error: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Type ("org.seamoo.persistence.jpa.model.ExampleModel") is not that of an entity but needs to be for this operation at org.datanucleus.jpa.EntityManagerImpl.assertEntity(EntityManagerImpl.java:888) at org.datanucleus.jpa.EntityManagerImpl.persist(EntityManagerImpl.java:385) Caused by: org.datanucleus.exceptions.NoPersistenceInformationException: The class "org.seamoo.persistence.jpa.model.ExampleModel" is required to be persistable yet no Meta-Data/Annotations can be found for this class. Please check that the Meta-Data/annotations is defined in a valid file location. at org.datanucleus.ObjectManagerImpl.assertClassPersistable(ObjectManagerImpl.java:3894) at org.datanucleus.jpa.EntityManagerImpl.assertEntity(EntityManagerImpl.java:884) ... 27 more How can it be the case?     Would you guys show me a way to simulating concurrent access to memcache on Google App Engine? I'm trying with LocalServiceTestHelpers and threads but don't have any luck. Every time I try to access Memcache within a thread, then I get this error: ApiProxy$CallNotFoundException: The API package 'memcache' or call 'Increment()' was not found I guess that the testing library of GAE SDK tried to mimic the real environment and thus setup the environment for only one thread (the thread that running the test) which cannot be seen by other thread.     Suppose I defined a structure like this: struct person { char name [10]; int age; }; and declared two person variables: person Bob; person John; where Bob.name = "Bob", Bob.age = 30 and John.name = "John",John.age = 25. and I called Bob = John; struct person would do a Memberwise assignment and assign Johns's member values to Bob's. But arrays can't assign to arrays, so how does the assignment of the "name" array work?

  • Which information (files) of an eclipse-workspace should be tracked by source control

    I want to track the workspace of eclipse by source control so that important settings can be backed up. However, there are a lot of kind of *.index inside the .metadata folder of workspace. Some information are important, for example Mylyn repository, but some information is merely cached files and thus, doesn't make sense to me for being tracked. In short, what files inside eclipse workspace that should be tracked so that I can restore the working workspace after problems (like meta data file deleted, etc.)

  • Unbelievable: Cannot cast from class X to its super class

    I'm encountering a very weird problem with Spring (3.0.1.RELEASE), TestNG (5.11) and Maven Surefire (2.5). I have a test class that extends a Spring helper class for testNG so that test context can be loaded from an xml file (that contains some bean definitions). My project was imported into eclipse using m2eclipse (using Import Maven Project) The class run fine in Eclipse TestNG runner. However, it throws this exception with Maven Surefire Caused by: java.lang.ClassCastException: com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.jaxp.DocumentBuilderFactoryImpl cannot be cast to javax.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilderFactory at javax.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance(DocumentBuilderFactory.java:123) at org.springframework.beans.factory.xml.DefaultDocumentLoader.createDocumentBuilderFactory(DefaultDocumentLoader.java:89) at org.springframework.beans.factory.xml.DefaultDocumentLoader.loadDocument(DefaultDocumentLoader.java:70) at org.springframework.beans.factory.xml.XmlBeanDefinitionReader.doLoadBeanDefinitions(XmlBeanDefinitionReader.java:388) I have eliminated all involved dependencies in my pom so that the two classes com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.jaxp.DocumentBuilderFactoryImpl and javax.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilderFactory are coming from JRE only (the rt.jar). So, it looks so unbelievable to me. I wonder if there is any mechanism in loading class that can explain for this behavior? Thanks.

In other words, I would like to generate a collection of n objects and pass it into a function which generates random data strings and numbers. Is there anything to do this? Think of it as a Lorem Ipsum for object data. Constraints around numerical ranges etc. are not necessary, but would be a bonus.

    Is it possible to use SSL with Visual Studio Development Server (a.k.a. Web Application project)? I don't want to have to deploy IIS locally if possible. I'm running Windows 7.
