  • Django facebook integration error

    - by Gaurav
    I'm trying to integrate facebook into my application so that users can use their FB login to login to my site. I've got everything up and running and there are no issues when I run my site using the command line python manage.py runserver But this same code refuses to run when I try and run it through Apache. I get the following error: Environment: Request Method: GET Request URL: http://helvetica/foodfolio/login Django Version: 1.1.1 Python Version: 2.6.4 Installed Applications: ['django.contrib.auth', 'django.contrib.contenttypes', 'django.contrib.sessions', 'django.contrib.sites', 'foodfolio.app', 'foodfolio.facebookconnect'] Installed Middleware: ('django.contrib.sessions.middleware.SessionMiddleware', 'facebook.djangofb.FacebookMiddleware', 'django.middleware.common.CommonMiddleware', 'django.contrib.auth.middleware.AuthenticationMiddleware', 'facebookconnect.middleware.FacebookConnectMiddleware') Template error: In template /home/swat/website-apps/foodfolio/facebookconnect/templates/facebook/js.html, error at line 2 Caught an exception while rendering: No module named app.models 1 : <script type="text/javascript"> 2 : FB_RequireFeatures(["XFBML"], function() {FB.Facebook.init("{{ facebook_api_key }}", " {% url facebook_xd_receiver %} ")}); 3 : 4 : function facebookConnect(loginForm) { 5 : FB.Connect.requireSession(); 6 : FB.Facebook.get_sessionState().waitUntilReady(function(){loginForm.submit();}); 7 : } 8 : function pushToFacebookFeed(data){ 9 : if(data['success']){ 10 : var template_data = data['template_data']; 11 : var template_bundle_id = data['template_bundle_id']; 12 : feedTheFacebook(template_data,template_bundle_id,function(){}); Traceback: File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/core/handlers/base.py" in get_response 92. response = callback(request, *callback_args, **callback_kwargs) File "/home/swat/website-apps/foodfolio/app/controller.py" in __showLogin__ 238. context_instance = RequestContext(request)) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/shortcuts/__init__.py" in render_to_response 20. return HttpResponse(loader.render_to_string(*args, **kwargs), **httpresponse_kwargs) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/template/loader.py" in render_to_string 108. return t.render(context_instance) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/template/__init__.py" in render 178. return self.nodelist.render(context) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/template/__init__.py" in render 779. bits.append(self.render_node(node, context)) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/template/debug.py" in render_node 71. result = node.render(context) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/template/__init__.py" in render 946. autoescape=context.autoescape)) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/template/__init__.py" in render 779. bits.append(self.render_node(node, context)) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/django/template/debug.py" in render_node 81. raise wrapped Exception Type: TemplateSyntaxError at /foodfolio/login Exception Value: Caught an exception while rendering: No module named app.models

  • Javascript error when integrating django-tinymce and django-filebrowser

    - by jwesonga
    I've set up django-filebrowser in my app without any bugs, I already had django-tinymce set up and it loads the editor in the admin forms. I now want to use django-filebrowser with django-tinymce, but I keep getting a weird javascript error when I click on "Image URL" in the Image popup: r is undefined the error is js/tiny_mce/tiny_mce.js My settings.py file has the following configuration: TINYMCE_JS_URL=MEDIA_URL + 'js/tiny_mce/tiny_mce.js' TINYMCE_DEFAULT_CONFIG = { 'mode': "textareas", 'theme': "advanced", 'language': "en", 'skin': "o2k7", 'dialog_type': "modal", 'object_resizing': True, 'cleanup_on_startup': True, 'forced_root_block': "p", 'remove_trailing_nbsp': True, 'theme_advanced_toolbar_location': "top", 'theme_advanced_toolbar_align': "left", 'theme_advanced_statusbar_location': "none", 'theme_advanced_buttons1': "formatselect,styleselect,bold,italic,underline,bullist,numlist,undo,redo,link,unlink,image,code,template,visualchars,fullscreen,pasteword,media,search,replace,charmap", 'theme_advanced_buttons2': "", 'theme_advanced_buttons3': "", 'theme_advanced_path': False, 'theme_advanced_blockformats': "p,h2,h3,h4,div,code,pre", 'width': '700', 'height': '300', 'plugins': "advimage,advlink,fullscreen,visualchars,paste,media,template,searchreplace", 'advimage_update_dimensions_onchange': True, 'file_browser_callback': "CustomFileBrowser", 'relative_urls': False, 'valid_elements' : "" + "-p," + "a[href|target=_blank|class]," + "-strong/-b," + "-em/-i," + "-u," + "-ol," + "-ul," + "-li," + "br," + "img[class|src|alt=|width|height]," + "-h2,-h3,-h4," + "-pre," + "-code," + "-div", 'extended_valid_elements': "" + "a[name|class|href|target|title|onclick]," + "img[class|src|border=0|alt|title|hspace|vspace|width|height|align|onmouseover|onmouseout|name]," + "br[clearfix]," + "-p[class<clearfix?summary?code]," + "h2[class<clearfix],h3[class<clearfix],h4[class<clearfix]," + "ul[class<clearfix],ol[class<clearfix]," + "div[class]," } TINYMCE_FILEBROWSER = False TINYMCE_COMPRESSOR = False i've tried switching back to older versions of tinyMCE Javascript but nothing seems to work. • While trying to set up Django on Windows: AttributeError: 'Settings' object has no attribute 'DATABA

    - by user326370
I'm following these instructions in order to set up Django on Windows. I have installed Python 2.6, PostgreSQL 8.4, Psycopg 2.0.14 for Python 2.6 and the latest version of Django from SVN. I'm now following these instructions to run a test project (copied from the page linked to above): C:\Documents and Settings\John>cd C:\ C:\>mkdir django C:\>cd django C:\django>django-admin.py startproject testproject C:\django>cd testproject C:\django\testproject>python manage.py runserver When I run the last line, this is the output: Validating models... • How to do custom display and auto-select in django admin multi-select field?

    - by rsp
I'm new to django, so please feel free to tell me if I'm doing this incorrectly. I am trying to create a django ordering system. My order model: class Order(models.Model): ordered_by = models.ForeignKey(User, limit_choices_to = {'groups__name': "Managers", 'is_active': 1}) in my admin ANY user can enter an order, but ordered_by must be someone in the group "managers" (this is the behavior I want). Now, if the logged in user happens to be a manager I want it to automatically fill in the field with that logged in user. I have accomplished this by: class OrderAdmin(admin.ModelAdmin): def formfield_for_foreignkey(self, db_field, request, **kwargs): if db_field.name == "ordered_by": if request.user in User.objects.filter(groups__name='Managers', is_active=1): kwargs["initial"] = request.user.id kwargs["empty_label"] = "-------------" return db_field.formfield(**kwargs) return super(OrderAdmin, self).formfield_for_foreignkey(db_field, request, **kwargs) This also works, but the admin puts the username as the display for the select box by default. It would be nice to have the user's real name listed. I was able to do it with this: class UserModelMultipleChoiceField(forms.ModelMultipleChoiceField): def label_from_instance(self, obj): return obj.first_name + " " + obj.last_name class OrderForm(forms.ModelForm): ordered_by = UserModelChoiceField(queryset=User.objects.all().filter(groups__name='Managers', is_active=1)) class OrderAdmin(admin.ModelAdmin): form = OrderForm My problem: I can't to both of these. If I put in the formfield_for_foreignkey function and add form = OrderForm to use my custom "UserModelChoiceField", it puts the nice name display but it won't select the currently logged in user. I'm new to this, but my guess is that when I use UserModelChoiceField it "erases" the info passed in via formfield_for_foreignkey. Do I need to use the super() function somehow to pass on this info? or something completely different?

  • Django: Filtering datetime field by *only* the year value?

    - by unclaimedbaggage
Hi folks, I'm trying to spit out a django page which lists all entries by the year they were created. So, for example: 2010: Note 4 Note 5 Note 6 2009: Note 1 Note 2 Note 3 It's proving more difficult than I would have expected. The model from which the data comes is below: class Note(models.Model): business = models.ForeignKey(Business) note = models.TextField() created = models.DateTimeField(auto_now_add=True) updated = models.DateTimeField(auto_now=True) class Meta: db_table = 'client_note' @property def note_year(self): return self.created.strftime('%Y') def __unicode__(self): return '%s' % self.note I've tried a few different ways, but seem to run into hurdles down every path. I'm guessing an effective 'group by' method would do the trick (PostGres DB Backend), but I can't seem to find any Django functionality that supports it. I tried getting individual years from the database but I struggled to find a way of filtering datetime fields by just the year value. Finally, I tried adding the note_year @property but because it's derived, I can't filter those values. Any suggestions for an elegant way to do this? I figure it should be pretty straightforward, but I'm having a heckuva time with it. Any ideas much appreciated.

  • How much knowledge do I need to begin a project in Django

    - by Smock
I started learning django about a month ago. I have an intermediate C, Java programming experience. I read the first 8 chapters of the django book . Afterwards, I picked up Practical Django Projects by James Bennett and did the first two projects: CMS & Web Blog. Although, I started getting lost when he got to the generic views part. I know that's important but I'm not sure how important that is when trying to implement a project. Anyway, I have a project in mind that I'd like to start; however, I'm nervous as to where to begin. I'm overwhelmed with the number of things that I'd like my project to do but no knowledge or minimal knowledge as to how e.g. how do i implement css and javascript in my project. Moreover, I am aware that some django packages exists to ease development but I don't know if I should use them or not. Anyway, I apologize for my length message. I just want some advice/encouragement. I have a project in mind but do you think I need to read more materials/tutorials or is it smart to just start working on my project based on the minimal knowledge i've gained from those books? Any information that can be provided is much appreciated. I really want to get good at this but I just need some direction.

  • Single django instance with subdomains for each app in the django project

    - by jwesonga
    I have a django project (django+apache+mod_wsgi+nginx) with multiple apps, I'd like to map each app as a subdomain: project/ app1 (domain.com) app2 (sub1.domain.com) app3 (sub3.domain.com) I have a single .wsgi script serving the project, which is stored in a folder /apache. Below is my vhost file. I'm using a single vhost file instead of separate ones for each sub-domain: <VirtualHost *:8080> ServerAdmin [email protected] ServerName www.domain.com ServerAlias domain.com DocumentRoot /home/path/to/app/ Alias /admin_media/ /usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/django/contrib/admin/media <Directory /home/path/to/wsgi/apache/> Order deny,allow Allow from all </Directory> LogLevel warn ErrorLog /home/path/to/logs/apache_error.log CustomLog /home/path/to/logs/apache_access.log combined WSGIDaemonProcess domain.com user=www-data group=www-data threads=25 WSGIProcessGroup domain.com WSGIScriptAlias / /home/path/to/apache/kcdf.wsgi </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost *:8081> ServerAdmin [email protected] ServerName sub1.domain.com ServerAlias sub1.domain.com DocumentRoot /home/path/to/app Alias /admin_media/ /usr/local/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/django/contrib/admin/media <Directory /home/path/to/wsgi/apache/> Order deny,allow Allow from all </Directory> LogLevel warn ErrorLog /home/path/to/logs/apache_error.log CustomLog /home/path/to/logs/apache_access.log combined WSGIDaemonProcess sub1.domain.com user=www-data group=www-data threads=25 WSGIProcessGroup sub1.domain.com WSGIScriptAlias / /home/path/to/apache/kcdf.wsgi </VirtualHost> My Nginx configuration for the domain.com: server { listen 80; server_name domain.com; access_log off; error_log off; # proxy to Apache 2 and mod_wsgi location / { proxy_pass http://127.0.0.1:8080/; proxy_redirect off; proxy_set_header Host $host; proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for; proxy_max_temp_file_size 0; client_max_body_size 10m; client_body_buffer_size 128k; proxy_connect_timeout 90; proxy_send_timeout 90; proxy_read_timeout 90; proxy_buffer_size 4k; proxy_buffers 4 32k; proxy_busy_buffers_size 64k; proxy_temp_file_write_size 64k; } } Configuration for the sub.domain.com: server { listen 80; server_name sub.domain.com; access_log off; error_log off; # proxy to Apache 2 and mod_wsgi location / { proxy_pass http://127.0.0.1:8081/; proxy_redirect off; proxy_set_header Host $host; proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for; proxy_max_temp_file_size 0; client_max_body_size 10m; client_body_buffer_size 128k; proxy_connect_timeout 90; proxy_send_timeout 90; proxy_read_timeout 90; proxy_buffer_size 4k; proxy_buffers 4 32k; proxy_busy_buffers_size 64k; proxy_temp_file_write_size 64k; } } This set up doesn't seem to work, everything seems to point to the main domain. I've tried http://effbot.org/zone/django-multihost.htm which kind of worked but seems to have issues with loading my css,images,js files.

  • In Django Combobox choices, how do you lookup description from short value?

    - by MikeN
In Django models/forms the choices for a combobox often look like this: food_choices = (("",""), ("1", "Falafel"), ("2", "Hummus"), ("3", "Eggplant Stuff, Babaganoush???"), So the value to be stored in the database will be 1/2/3, but the displayed value on the form will be the long description. When we are working in code outside a form, how can we quickly lookup the long description given the short value stored in the model? So I want to map short values to long values: print foo("1") "Falafel"

  • South migration error: NoMigrations exception for django.contrib.auth

    - by danpalmer
I have been using South on my project for a while, but I recently did a huge amount of development and changed development machine and I think something messed up in the process. • Django App for Image heavy Magazine Publishing?

    - by stapler
I'm about to begin work on a Django project for an image heavy non-profit "community arts" magazine. The magazine is published monthly with about 6-8 articles that include with 4-10 images. I've been looking around for other projects that people have started specifically for publishing in Django... Are there any publishing specific Django apps you'd recommend? At the moment the only thing I can find is django-newsroom which looks interesting. Currently I'm just Image Kit / Photologue to attach galleries to an Article Model... but I'd love to figure out a way to more fully integrate images into the article content. Thanks in advance

  • Django CMS error when running project

    - by 47
I'd set up a site a while back using Django-CMS and it was working fine. However, after upgrading to the latest version of both Django and Django-CMS, it doesn't work anymore...when I try to run the development server, I get this message: "Signal recerivers must accept keyword arguments (**kwargs)." AssertionError: Signal receivers must accept keyword arguments (**kwargs). What could be the problem here? I've tried running the sample app that comes with the CMS and it works just fine.

  • Why can't I use __getattr__ with Django models?

    - by Joshmaker
I've seen examples online of people using __getattr__ with Django models, but whenever I try I get errors. (Django 1.2.3) I don't have any problems when I am using __getattr__ on normal objects. For example: class Post(object): def __getattr__(self, name): return 42 Works just fine... >>> from blog.models import Post >>> p = Post() >>> p.random 42 Now when I try it with a Django model: from django.db import models class Post(models.Model): def __getattr__(self, name): return 42 And test it on on the interpreter: >>> from blog.models import Post >>> p = Post() ERROR: An unexpected error occurred while tokenizing input The following traceback may be corrupted or invalid The error message is: ('EOF in multi-line statement', (6, 0)) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- TypeError Traceback (most recent call last) /Users/josh/project/ in () /Users/josh/project/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/db/models/base.pyc in init(self, *args, **kwargs) 338 if kwargs: 339 raise TypeError("'%s' is an invalid keyword argument for this function" % kwargs.keys()[0]) -- 340 signals.post_init.send(sender=self.class, instance=self) 341 342 def repr(self): /Users/josh/project/lib/python2.6/site-packages/django/dispatch/dispatcher.pyc in send(self, sender, **named) 160 161 for receiver in self._live_receivers(_make_id(sender)): -- 162 response = receiver(signal=self, sender=sender, **named) 163 responses.append((receiver, response)) 164 return responses /Users/josh/project/python2.6/site-packages/photologue/models.pyc in add_methods(sender, instance, signal, *args, **kwargs) 728 """ 729 if hasattr(instance, 'add_accessor_methods'): -- 730 instance.add_accessor_methods() 731 732 # connect the add_accessor_methods function to the post_init signal TypeError: 'int' object is not callable Can someone explain what is going on? EDIT: I may have been too abstract in the examples, here is some code that is closer to what I actually would use on the website: class Post(models.Model): title = models.CharField(max_length=255) slug = models.SlugField() date_published = models.DateTimeField() content = RichTextField('Content', blank=True, null=True) # Etc... Class CuratedPost(models.Model): post = models.ForeignKey('Post') position = models.PositiveSmallIntegerField() def __getattr__(self, name): ''' If the user tries to access a property of the CuratedPost, return the property of the Post instead... ''' return self.post.name # Etc... While I could create a property for each attribute of the Post class, that would lead to a lot of code duplication. Further more, that would mean anytime I add or edit a attribute of the Post class I would have to remember to make the same change to the CuratedPost class, which seems like a recipe for code rot.

  • Syncing data between devel/live databases in Django

    - by T. Stone
With Django's new multi-db functionality in the development version, I've been trying to work on creating a management command that let's me synchronize the data from the live site down to a developer machine for extended testing. (Having actual data, particularly user-entered data, allows me to test a broader range of inputs.) Right now I've got a "mostly" working command. It can sync "simple" model data but the problem I'm having is that it ignores ManyToMany fields which I don't see any reason for it do so. Anyone have any ideas of either how to fix that or a better want to handle this? Should I be exporting that first query to a fixture first and then re-importing it? from django.core.management.base import LabelCommand from django.db.utils import IntegrityError from django.db import models from django.conf import settings LIVE_DATABASE_KEY = 'live' class Command(LabelCommand): help = ("Synchronizes the data between the local machine and the live server") args = "APP_NAME" label = 'application name' requires_model_validation = False can_import_settings = True def handle_label(self, label, **options): # Make sure we're running the command on a developer machine and that we've got the right settings db_settings = getattr(settings, 'DATABASES', {}) if not LIVE_DATABASE_KEY in db_settings: print 'Could not find "%s" in database settings.' % LIVE_DATABASE_KEY return if db_settings.get('default') == db_settings.get(LIVE_DATABASE_KEY): print 'Data cannot synchronize with self. • Django internationalization for admin pages - translate model name and attributes

    - by geekQ
Django's internationalization is very nice (gettext based, LocaleMiddleware), but what is the proper way to translate the model name and the attributes for admin pages? I did not find anything about this in the documentation: http://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/topics/i18n/internationalization/ http://www.djangobook.com/en/2.0/chapter19/ I would like to have "???????? ????? ??? ?????????" instead of "???????? order ??? ?????????". Note, the 'order' is not translated. First, I defined a model, activated USE_I18N = True in settings.py, run django-admin makemessages -l ru. No entries are created by default for model names and attributes. Grepping in the Django source code I found: $ ack "Select %s to change" contrib/admin/views/main.py 70: self.title = (self.is_popup and ugettext('Select %s') % force_unicode(self.opts.verbose_name) or ugettext('Select %s to change') % force_unicode(self.opts.verbose_name)) So the verbose_name meta property seems to play some role here. Tried to use it: class Order(models.Model): subject = models.CharField(max_length=150) description = models.TextField() class Meta: verbose_name = _('order') Now the updated po file contains msgid 'order' that can be translated. So I put the translation in. Unfortunately running the admin pages show the same mix of "???????? order ??? ?????????". I'm currently using Django 1.1.1. Could somebody point me to the relevant documentation? Because google can not. ;-) In the mean time I'll dig deeper into the django source code...

  • Django admin interface upload failing on request data read error

    - by Jake
Hi All, This is an updated version of an old question I asked. I've now done a lot more testing, plus the old question got hijacked. I'm getting a request data read error when trying to upload files to the Django admin interface. Files under about 150k work, but bigger files always fail and almost always at around 192k (that's 3 chunks) completed, sometimes at around 160k. The Exception I get is below. File "/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/django/http/multipartparser.py", line 405, in read return self._file.read(num_bytes) IOError: request data read error I've tried Chrome and Firefox on Windows and Firefox on Mac - Same results. I can upload to other sites so I don't think it's my connection. I'm running python 2.4, django 1.1, mod_wsgi, on CentOS (a media temple DV server) Locally it's fine (Django development server) Everything I've found on this issue says it's a mod_python issue and that changing to mod_wsgi will fix it, but I am running mod_wsgi. Can anyone help?

  • Writing good tests for Django applications

    - by Ludwik Trammer
    I've never written any tests in my life, but I'd like to start writing tests for my Django projects. I've read some articles about tests and decided to try to write some tests for an extremely simple Django app or a start. The app has two views (a list view, and a detail view) and a model with four fields: class News(models.Model): title = models.CharField(max_length=250) content = models.TextField() pub_date = models.DateTimeField(default=datetime.datetime.now) slug = models.SlugField(unique=True) I would like to show you my tests.py file and ask: Does it make sense? Am I even testing for the right things? Are there best practices I'm not following, and you could point me to? my tests.py (it contains 11 tests): # -*- coding: utf-8 -*- from django.test import TestCase from django.test.client import Client from django.core.urlresolvers import reverse import datetime from someproject.myapp.models import News class viewTest(TestCase): def setUp(self): self.test_title = u'Test title: bareksc' self.test_content = u'This is a content 156' self.test_slug = u'test-title-bareksc' self.test_pub_date = datetime.datetime.today() self.test_item = News.objects.create( title=self.test_title, content=self.test_content, slug=self.test_slug, pub_date=self.test_pub_date, ) client = Client() self.response_detail = client.get(self.test_item.get_absolute_url()) self.response_index = client.get(reverse('the-list-view')) def test_detail_status_code(self): """ HTTP status code for the detail view """ self.failUnlessEqual(self.response_detail.status_code, 200) def test_list_status_code(self): """ HTTP status code for the list view """ self.failUnlessEqual(self.response_index.status_code, 200) def test_list_numer_of_items(self): self.failUnlessEqual(len(self.response_index.context['object_list']), 1) def test_detail_title(self): self.failUnlessEqual(self.response_detail.context['object'].title, self.test_title) def test_list_title(self): self.failUnlessEqual(self.response_index.context['object_list'][0].title, self.test_title) def test_detail_content(self): self.failUnlessEqual(self.response_detail.context['object'].content, self.test_content) def test_list_content(self): self.failUnlessEqual(self.response_index.context['object_list'][0].content, self.test_content) def test_detail_slug(self): self.failUnlessEqual(self.response_detail.context['object'].slug, self.test_slug) def test_list_slug(self): self.failUnlessEqual(self.response_index.context['object_list'][0].slug, self.test_slug) def test_detail_template(self): self.assertContains(self.response_detail, self.test_title) self.assertContains(self.response_detail, self.test_content) def test_list_template(self): self.assertContains(self.response_index, self.test_title)

  • AddThis Social SignIn and Django

    - by piokuc
I am developing a Django website. I've been using django-registration for user registration so far but I would really like to allow users to login to my site using their Facebook, Twitter, Google, etc accounts. I am using addthis sharing buttons. I just noticed they introduced a social sign in solution. The idea seems great, you integrate your authentication system with their service once, and your users can login via all of the popular social networking sites. Has anybody integrated addthis social signin plugin with a django website? How can you use it along side django-registration? Are there any similar, alternative solutions?
