• Windows Load-Balancing, Forward-Proxying Software

  Does anyone know of any Windows software that will do forward-proxying load-balancing, like HAProxy does? There are tons of reverse-proxy solutions, but I can't find any that do what HAProxy does, that is, allows you to load-balance a group of forwarding-proxies. I have a proxy farm (don't ask) that I need to round-robin balance. HAProxy will do it, but is very unstable on Windows. Thoughts? I'd really appreciate it. And yes, this is an actual, production environment question.

  I have an SSH server on a private subnet within an EC2 vpc listening for ssh on port 9022 I also have a nat instance (standard Amazon EC2 nat) on a public instance. I would like to forward incoming SSH connections (port 9022) to my nat to the internal server (port 9022). I tried this, but it didn't work: sudo iptables -t nat -I PREROUTING -p tcp -i eth0 --dport 9022 -j DNAT --to-destination 10.0.2.11:9022 I verified that 10.0.2.11 is listening on port 9022. (I can telnet). I verified my security group allows incoming port 9022. I verified that /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward is 1. What am I missing? Edit: Turns out this was correct after all. I had a mistake in my security group.

• Qmail does not forward mail to a specific domain

  Hi I have a dedicated hosting account with GoDaddy.com. I've pointed my domain's email to work with Google apps. The server has qmail running and it forwards email to all domains just fine except for MY domain (mydomain.com) - it says 550 User xxx not found in mydomain.com I believe it thinks I've hosted email on the server itself (not gmail) and it's trying to validate if [email protected] exists on my server (which is not the case since it's all handled by google apps). How do I make it forward mail to all domains? Thank you :) EDIT: I would only need it forwarding emails if the connection originates from 127.0.0.1 - which I believe is the default way it's configured. So to clarify: I just need a purely forwarded configuration so my PHP scripts have the ability to send email.

• cPanel default email address and BCC forward

  In my cPanel I redirect all unknown emails to my gmail address of [email protected]. I set it from default email address option of cPanel of example.com. I wrote a filter in gmail. When I receive email thait is sent to example.com I move it to folder X. But when I receive an email that is sent to example.com as BCC, I don't see my email address in headers, so filter doesn't work. Email comes to gmail inbox, which I don't like. So I need to forward BCC type emails to [email protected]. Or add my email address before forwarding to gmail.

• iptables forward rule not working in openwrt

  I am trying to apply some iptables forwarding rules in openwrt. Here is my scenario - My server has two cards ath0 and br-lan. br-lan is connected to internet and ath0 to private network. The other m/c in n/w also has ath0 that connects with this server's ath0 and they are able to ping each other. Now, I want other m/c in network to use internet using br-lan of server so I thought of using iptables forwarding rule- Here is what I tried - Server : $ ping 1.1.1.6 // <ath0-ip of client> works fine $ iptables -A FORWARD -i ath0 -o br-lan -j ACCEPT $ /etc/init.d/firewall restart Client : $ ping 1.1.1.5 // <ath0-ip of server> works fine $ ping 132.245.244.60 // <br-lan ip of server> (not working) I am new to iptables stuff and openwrt. • Recommendations for USB flash drive fast at writing small files

  I want a drive that I can be used as my work drive, storing a Subversion repo and sandbox for a small project. I'd also like it to be able to store a DVD rip. At the moment I've got a Super Talent pico-C 8gb. It's fast at reading and writing DVD rips, but the performance on small files (ie less than 4k) is utterly terrible (we're talking floppy disk speeds here). This Ars review measured a similar Super Talent drive and pretty much confirmed my measurements (take a look at the random write speeds on page 5). So, I'm looking for a 8gb or bigger drive that doesn't suck at read and write of small files and still has acceptable performance for very large files.

• Shopping for Fast USB Flash Drives

  I would like to pick up some really fast USB flash drives in the 16 - 64 GB range. When looking at drives they just list their size, their form factor (key chain hook, slider, etc.) and the fact that they are all Hi-Speed USB 2.0. It seems like I have heard that different drives have different performance and life expectancy. The sales guy tells me that they are all the same performance any more, but it wouldn't be the first time a sales guy had the wrong technical details. Our objective is to run Virtual PC images off of them, so good speed and resilience to rewrites it important.

• Forward Windows Events Logs to Rsyslog

  Thanks for taking time to read this post. Basically I would like to forward Windows Events Logs from all my desktop clients to a linux box with rsyslog on. Rsyslog provide a Windows agent to do just that but its 40 euros per license and when you have x amount of machines that cost adds up. I was wondering if there is a FOSS alternative available I have tried searching the Google but haven't managed to find anything.   We have a Main application named "Trevor" installed in 2008R2 machine named "TEAMER12" which is slow now. One more application named "TVS" also running in and found there were many connections per second occurring to port 5009. netstat tool mentions that some fast connection open/close seen for port 5009 So first it will be listening mode like shown below TCP 0.0.0.0:5009 TEAMER12:0 LISTENING then establishes connection like TCP 127.0.0.1:5009 TEAMER12:49519 ESTABLISHED TCP 127.0.0.1:5009 TEAMER12:60903 ESTABLISHED After that iwill become TIME_WAIT and i could see several entries like shown below TCP 127.0.0.1:49156 TEAMER12:5009 TIME_WAIT after that it will establish connection like TCP 127.0.0.1:60903 TEAMER12:5009 ESTABLISHED TCP 127.0.0.1:64181 TEAMER12:microsoft-ds ESTABLISHED again it will go several entries like TIME_WAIT TCP 127.0.0.1:49156 TEAMER12:5009 TIME_WAIT Finally it will establish like this TCP 172.26.127.40:139 TEAMER12:0 LISTENING TCP 172.26.127.42:139 TEAMER12:0 LISTENING TCP 172.26.127.42:5009 TEAMER12:64445 ESTABLISHED TCP 172.26.127.42:64445 TEAMER12:5009 ESTABLISHED Can any body tell me whats the reason behind why many connections per second occurring to port 5009 and why application slow?

  I have a database under SqlServer2005 Enterprise 64bit sp3, that is in phase 3 of 3 of recovery after a reboot without normal shutdown. It looks like with fast Recovery, the database became available when recovery moved into phase 3. However, it seems (based on message in SqlAgent log), that SqlAgent is "started" but not available to run jobs until recovery completes. I have other databases on the same server that are transactional publications. It seems to me that if I let users update the published databases, transactions will start to build up in the log, but won't be moved to the distribution database or onto the subscribers because SqlAgent isn't running jobs.   (On Mac OS X 10.6, Apache 2.2.11) Following the oft-repeated googled advice, I've set up mod_proxy on my Mac to act as a forward proxy for http requests. My httpd.conf contains this: <IfModule mod_proxy> ProxyRequests On ProxyVia On <Proxy *> Allow from all </Proxy> (Yes, I realize that's not ideal, but I'm behind a firewall trying to figure out why the thing doesn't work at all) So, when I point my browser's proxy settings to the local server (ip_address:80), here's what happens: I browse to http://www.cnn.com I see via sniffer that this is sent to Apache on the Mac Apache responds with its default home page ("It works!" is all this page says) So... Apache is not doing as expected -- it is not forwarding my browser's request out onto the Internet to cnn. Nothing in the logfile indicates an error or problem, and Apache returns a 200 header to the browser. Clearly there is some very basic configuration step I'm not understanding... but what?

  Well i have a server with two LAN Card Installed.I have a server in U.S and one in India.I have created a GRE tunnel to route all traffic from U.S Server to my Indian Server.My Traffic has UDP,TCP,HTTP,etc Traffic.Now i have two LAN Card on my Indian Server.Well i have configured two IPs on the system for some of my needs on the system.One is a /30 and another is a /24.Well now i want the /30 IP to talk to my /24 IP.Lets take a e.g the IPs are 180.151.130.34 - /30 and 103.243.19.254 -/24 I want to forward all the TCP,UDP,HTTP,etc like traffic coming to 180.151.130.34 to 103.243.19.254.In the sense i want to make them talk to each other in a way if a TCP/UDP Packet comes to 180.151.130.34 it should be forwarded to 103.243.19.254 and then that packet is sent back by 103.243.19.254 to 180.151.130.34.I am not able to configure this part.Can anyone tell me step by step how to do so? Well i forgot to specify i am using Windows Server 2008. Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thanks in advance.

• Forward Hostname via my router to another PC for debugging

  Hi, My web service runs on for example: http://mydomain.com/mywebservice.asmx. This works great, but I have a PDA application which I want to debug it synchronising through this web service. Currently the only way I can do this is to debug the webservice running on the actual server which is far from ideal. What I would like to do is for any device connecting on my wireless network, if it requests mywebservice.asmx for this to forward the request to my development PC and for IIS to then handle the request and allow me to debug in Visual Studio. So device on the network that requests the hostname: mywebservice.asmx will his this PC.. I am at a loss to set this up on my router (Zoom ADSL X6), this is massively out of my scope but any help would be much appreciated

• Fast, reliable data transfers from/to China

  We are a small company and we will need to transfer rather large amounts of data (10GB+ each time) between Europe and China in the near future. As many may have experienced, Internet connections to or from China can be rather unreliable and slow at times without any apparent reason. For example, while sending data to China via FTP generally works well, it can be painfully slow in the other direction. Currently, we are investigating new ways to have high transfer rates in both directions. So far we have tried: FTP (see above) FTP over VPN services (generally slower than direct connections) F2F (like Retroshare or Freenet - slow!!) Aspera (fast but expensive!) BitTorrent (unreachable end nodes, b/c of firewalls which we must not configure) We would like to try: Cloud storage (e.g. Amazon S3, Google Storage) - are those services always and reliably reachable from inside China? Point-to-Point VPN (currently not possible, b/c of the network, see above) I'd be especially grateful to hear from people who have already dealt with this kind of problem before.

• Very fast Laptop Heating due to very high CPU usage by dwm.exe

  My laptop gets heated very fast and when I check the task manager, I find dwm.exe consuming very high CPU (mostly 100%). In the beginning I found the message "The graphic adapter has been stopped and recovered".Also I am getting one error message "Cidaemon.exe has stopped working" very frequently. During this period also, cpu usage is 100% which is consumed by dwm.exe. I have run ccleaner and Kingsoft PC doctor monitor to fix the register problem but the problem has not been solved. My display adaptor is : NVIDIA NVS 5200M. After the driver update, I am not getting "The graphic adapter has been stopped and recovered" but dwm.exe is still consuming 100% CPU one time in about 5 mins. Multiple restarts has not helped. Laptop Model: Dell Latitude E6430. Thanks in advance.

• Corrupted attachments in Thunderbird forward filter

  I created a filter in Thunderbird 14 on client A that, when a certain rule on incoming mail is satisfied, the same mail is forwarded to client B and C. Matching mails received from A are always forwarded to B and C, and that's what I want. Though, when the mail on A has an attachment, it is also forwarded by B and C but the file they receive is corrupted. In my case the incoming file on A is a Word file of about 10kb in size; clients B and C receive a Word file of 27 bytes. I think this could happen because the forward starts from A when the attachment is not yet completely downloaded. I'm not sure this is the cause, though. And I wouldn't have any idea for a fix. Any idea about how to investigate or solve the issue?

  Hi, I have linux box which has two network interface, eth0, eth1. from eth1 I can access an internal website, say under port 8080. from outside the box, I can't access that network. my question is, is there a way I set up something so from outside the box, there appears to be a web server running in port 8080 and when I connect to it, it automatically forwards to eht1 the internal site? I tried to enable ip forward and add a static route, but it doesn't work. thanks.

  We have mission-critical Windows 7 workstations on our network that must be available to any user at any time, even when it has been locked by a prior user. Thus, we have fast user switching enabled. Unfortunately, it's not unusual for us to have a dozen or more different users logged onto the same machine at the same time, with a corresponding degradation in service. We've done our best at educating the masses to log off at the end of their shift. But users being users, this does not happen on a consistent basis. Does anyone know of a clean way to force logoff idle users after a certain amount of time has elapsed? I am open to any method that could be deployed/configured via script, GPO, or SCCM.

• How to setup a fast VPN server

  I am trying to set up a VPN that has a fast download speed. The server I have is a linux server and from there I can download 2 megabytes a second. At home I can also download with 2 megabytes a second. All the downloads I do are from the same source, no different server. Now I have set up a VPN connection between my home and the server, and now I am only downloading 64 kilobytes a second! The connection I have created is a PPTP server on a debian machine. Now my question is if it is possible to optimize this connection. Should I maybe switch to OpenVPN, or change operating systems? Or are there some kind of settings to tweak to make the connection optimal. PS. The server I am running is on a XEN node. I have done the proper ip forwarding.

  there is a network including a router, two hosts and a switch which connects hosts to router. i have a virtual machine on my system. the network adapter is set to act as bridge. so the virtual machine and real OS are my 2 hosts on different LAN. they use one network card and are connected to a switch. when each of host send a packet to the other one, the switch duplicate the packet and forward it to both router and the other host. how can I solve the duplicate packet problem?   I'm not sure if dnsmasq is involved in this process on pfSense or not. Before pfsense, we'd do this in BIND thusly: zone "firstpartner.com" { type forward; forwarders { 1.2.3.4; 5.6.7.8; w.x.y.z; }; I'm intentionally over-explaining this in the interests of specificity: We currently use dnsmasq to direct local queries for our primarydomain.com. Anything that doesn't match a host override entry in pfSense gets passed off to our external name servers, as defined elsewhere in pfSense. There are certain other zones which are not publicly accessible, let's call them firstpartner.com and secondpartner.com that each have various subdomains that their own name servers handle. I need a way to define a list of name server IPs for each domain zone (see BIND example above). Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

As I searched over internet, I found that rewrite does the forwarding but I cannot see forwarding.
