  I use fetchmail-procmail-mutt programms to all my mail. Some of mail generated automatically and some people not smart enough, so I would like to reformat mail body with some script. My best guess is that I should do it with procmail. But I found no such rule, best thing I found is possibility to pipe mail to programm. Of course, I can resend it with flag that no futher formatting needed, but it does not look like right solution. EDIT: Just discovered maildrop. Maybe, it is simpler to do my task with it?

  I needed to let PHP send mails from my webserver to my web app users. So I installed qmail on my Debian server: sudo apt-get install qmail I also updated files in /etc/qmail specifing my domain name, and then I run sudo qmailctl reload and sudo qmailctl restart: /etc/qmail/defaultdomain # Contains 'mydomain.com' /etc/qmail/defaulthost # Contains 'mydomain.com' /etc/qmail/me # Contains 'mail.mydomain.com' /etc/qmail/rcpthosts # Contains 'mydomain.com' /etc/qmail/locals # Contains 'mydomain.com' Emails are sent without any problem from my PHP script to any email address, using the standard mail PHP library. Now the problem is that if I send mail from my PHP using [email protected] as sender address, I want that customer can reply to that address! And possibly, I want all mails sent to this address should be forwarded to my personal Gmail address. At the moment qmail seems to not accept any incoming mail because of "invalid mailbox name". • Is there a way to make Apple Mail work well with Exchange server calendar?

  My office uses Macs, but most of our clients use Windows and Outlook. Whenever people send invitations from Apple Mail to a Windows/Outlook machine, the invitations are garbled and look nothing like the nicely formatted invitations that Outlook people are used to. We also have no tools to view shared calendars, so we can choose mutually open time slots, and other useful calendar features that Outlook has and Apple Mail seems not to. So is there a plugin or third party program that will give Apple Mail the nice calendar features of Outlook? (By the way, I've looked into actually buying Outlook for Mac, and the pricing is kind of prohibitive, because you MUST buy the whole Office Suite, which we already have, there's no upgrade path, and there's no volume discounting.)

  Is it possible to create a template to use in Windows Live mail which I can load peoples details into from my contact list? I currently send emails to people but I have to manually view them in the address book, then copy there details into an email. What I would like is to open the template, select the email address and everything else is auto completed, such as first name, address etc. These would go in set fields which I set within the template. Is this possible? I am willing to switch to another mail account if needed but I would prefer it to be in Windows Live Mail. Thank you. :)

  I'm using Pegasus Mail for my mail client, and on my old computer (XP Pro), I could log in as the guest or admin account and it would still work. I recently got a new computer, with XP Pro, and I've set the mail client to work fine when I log in to the admin account, but when I log into the guest account, it always wants the SMTP, POP, and other connection information. How do I get it to remember that? I tried making an admin account, setting it up, and then downgrading that account, but that didn't work either. Does anyone even use PMail?

• rDNS for SMTP server locally with Mail hosted by third party

  Ok We have a difference of opinion on something and wanted to get some expert advice. We host our mail with our main domain "OurDomain.net" with a third part mail provider. We have an in house application that has to be able to send mail out to our clients. The problem is that sometimes the mail is flaky and will stop users from functioning in the program for 30 sec or more and appears to lock up. We have determined that the issue is with the mail piece. One solution is to use Database mail to queue up outbound emails to send out. The other is to set up an intenal SMTP server and send out mail through it. My fear is that we wil not be able to get rDNS to work properly and most of the mail will be blocked by our various client spam filters. Is it possible to set up the DNS for the servers so that we can send mail out like [email protected] using the smtp server in house and still pass the rDNS parameters that are normally set on spam filters? enquiring minds want to know.

• SharePoint, Exchange and Incoming Emails Without Directory Management Services

  Trying to keep this as simple as possible. We've already created the email accounts that we need (e.g. account[1-20]@domain.com) on Exchange/AD. We'd like to now enable incoming emails on SharePoint 2007 lists corresponding to these accounts. My thinking is we don’t need to configure Directory Management Services [2] – the architecture will be simpler without it and the application doesn’t require these services. However, we still need to route messages from Exchange to either local SMTP services (via the connector described in the articles below) or by user-specific drop-folder settings (if permitted by Exchange). So the question is: can we instruct Exchange to use a drop folder just for accounts account[1-20]@domain.com? or do we need to change the accounts to account[1-20]@sharepointsmtp.domain.com and re-route those message to the local SMTP service that will drop them on disk? • SMTP authentication error using PHPMailer

  I am using PHPMailer to send a basic form to an email address but I get the following error: SMTP Error: Could not authenticate. Message could not be sent. Mailer Error: SMTP Error: Could not authenticate. SMTP server error: VXNlcm5hbWU6 The weird thing is that if I try to send it again, IT WORKS! Every time I submit the form after that first error it works. But if I leave it for a few minutes and then try again I get the same error again. The username and password have to be right as sometimes it works fine. • Yahoo flagging mail as spam when using relay server

  I'm using Postfix to relay mail from my site to my mail server. Mail is received properly at my Gmail and Hotmail accounts - only Yahoo is the problem. The Yahoo mail headers state: Received-SPF: none (mta1133.mail.mud.yahoo.com: domain of [email protected] does not designate permitted sender hosts) In contrast, the Gmail headers state: Received-SPF: pass (google.com: domain of [email protected] designates 74.50.xxx.xxx as permitted sender) client-ip=74.50.xxx.xxx; Reverse DNS is set up correctly, as is my SPF record and domainkeys/dkim (both domainkeys and dkim show pass(ok) in the Yahoo mail headers). Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to solve the Yahoo problem (short of contacting Yahoo, as this is a brand new mail server)? Thanks

  I'm using a gmail account in Thunderbird. When I send a message, a new mail notification appears (sound and system try icon), an unread message appears in the gmail All Mail folder, and the account name turns blue. I have to click on "Sent Mail" or "All Mail" to get rid of the notification. Unsubscribing from "All Mail" is not effective (it still turns the account name blue). This seems to be popping up elsewhere (example), but nobody has posted a helpful answer. How do I keep Thunderbird from thinking that a sent message is new unread mail in the All Mail folder?

HELO hostname: server.hostname.org Source IP: one ip here mail-from: [email protected] Problems: user.example.org instead of just user. server.hostname.org instead of just example.org.   The following is a function from zend_mail_protocol_imap. i read that to search emails, I would want to override it using zend_mail_storage_imap (which is what I'm using now to grab email from gmail). I copy and pasted the following function into zend_mail_storage_imap, but I'm having issues with the params. I can't find documentation on what to use for the array $params. I initially thought it was the search term before reading it more thoroughly. I'm out of ideas.   I just hit something I think is inconsistent, and wanted to see if I'm doing something wrong, if I'm an idiot, or... MailMessage msg = new MailMessage(); msg.To.Add("[email protected]"); msg.To.Add("[email protected]"); msg.To.Add("[email protected]"); msg.To.Add("[email protected]"); Really only sends this email to 1 person, the last one. To add multiples I have to do this: msg.To.Add("[email protected],[email protected],[email protected],[email protected]"); I don't get it. I thought I was adding multiple people to the "To" address collection, but what I was doing was replacing it. I think I just realized my error -- to add one item to the collection, use .To.Add(new MailAddress("[email protected]")) If you use just a string, it replaces everything it had in its list. Ugh. I'd consider this a rather large gotcha! Since I answered my own question, but I think this is of value to have in the stackoverflow archive, I'll still ask it. Maybe someone even has an idea of other traps that you can fall into.
