  • Photoshop causing other programs not receive ESC key

    When I run Photoshop CS4 on Windows 7, other running programs don't receive the ESC key (I noticed in PuTTY and Total Commander's Lister). When I close Photoshop, they start receiving the ESC key again. I tried multiple keyboard layouts, no change. Photoshop is an out-of-box install, no settings changed I exported the list of keybindings from Photoshop (ctrl-alt-shift-k) and ESC isn't used in any combination Why is this? Is there any way to disable or bypass this so that I could use other programs normally?

  • Good Slideshow DVD programs?

    I want to burn a bunch of pictures to a DVD slideshow. However, Google reveals that there are tons of software programs that claim to do this. Can anyone recommend one of them without me having to download 20 of them only to discover half don't work and the other half are free trials to $29 software that doesn't work either? The only one which I have tried out so far is DVD Slideshow GUI, which is simply a mess of programs. It was free, but it crashed a whole bunch, spit errors at me when i tried to preview and never worked when I tried to export the slideshow to mpg.

    When I click start, and then 'All Programs' (or select a sub menu of all programs) I get a grey menu which does not respond for about 5 seconds - after this it is ok. Any idea what is causing the menu to behave sluggishly? What can be done to fix this?   • Windows 7 - Move open programs more freely on the taskbar

    When I used Windows XP last year, I had a program called Taskix which let me move the tabs in the taskbar around for programs in any order I wanted. Now that I have Windows 7, a similar function comes built into the operating system - however, it isn't as flexible as Taskix was in XP. Theoretical situation: 1. Open a folder named #1 2. In folder #1, open an instance of a program 3. Open a folder named #2 4. In folder #2, open an instance of the same program that was opened in step 2. After doing this, I will have (in order, on the taskbar) 2 folders open and 2 instances of the programs open. My question really is: Is there any way to fight this automatic ordering of tabs on the taskbar? A registry hack or something would be best, but if there's a third party program out there, that would be nice to know about. Thanks!

    What the most harmful thing can malware program started as separate limited user account do if it has access to the X server? Network and filesystem things are already considered by chroot and netfilter. It obviously can lock the screen and I will need to switch to other vt and kill it manually. Can it for example disrupt other GUI programs on the same X server (access to root terminal in nearby window)? I know that it is safer to run it in separate X server, for example, in Xtightvnc or even some virtual machine, but how dangerous is to just run it like other programs?

    I have a Windows XP and I just installed about 12 new programs. Big mistake! Before I installed these programs, my internet connection was running great. But now after installing and restarting my laptop, the internet is crawling. How can I see what was changed? Hint: prior to installing these 12 programs, I installed IE version 8. So probably if I removed that it would fix it, but the problem is I need IE in order for my SQL/C# web application to work properly.

  • No apache MPM package installed error

    I'm getting "No apache MPM package installed" when trying to configure virtual hosts on apache2.2. I compiled apache2.2 from source and I did not use --with-mpm=NAME option. I thought it will compile with default one then. So the question is, is there any way to check if MPM is installed indeed and I only need to enable it somewhere? If it is not, is there any way to add it without recompiling apache? Or, is there any way to have virtual hosts without it at all? I was doing vhost configuration as per this example. Thanks in advance for your help ;) EDIT: prefork is installed. The question is, why after a2ensite / a2dissite and /etc/init.d/apache2 reload I still get error "No MPM package installed"...

  • .NET 2.0 "not installed" after upgrade to Windows 7

    I Recently upgraded to Windows 7 (Business) RTM from Vista Business and everything is going great, it fixed the BSOD I was getting and the performance of my laptop is improved. However; during the upgrade, something seems to have gone awry with my .NET 2.0 installation. When attempting to install FlashDevelop, I get the following error from the installer package You need to install Maicrtosoft.NET 2.0 runtime before installing FlasgDevelop. You Have . I have a previous release of FD installed from before the upgrade and this still works fine. So I gave up on the new version of FD and got on with my day. Then I tried to install the Microsoft SQL Server Database Publishing Wizard 1.1 and that says I am missing a couple of prerequisites, one of which is .NET 2.0. When I download the .NET 2.0 runtime the installer fails, telling me that This product is already installed as part of the operating system. Does anyone have any idea how to make my computer recognise that .NET 2 is in fact installed. UPDATE I've checked Windows Features and everything relating to .NET is already installed. I've also been through my list of installed programs looking for .NET to in an attempt to uninstall it but it isn't there. In fact, the only thing that looks like a .NET distro that I am able to uninstall is the 3.5 Compact Framework.

    Current state I'm using both - Ubuntu (installed via Wubi on the same drive as Windows) and Windows 7 - quite frequently. I just bought the upgrade to Windows 8 and was curious to try it out, however I'm quite insecure whether Windows 8's "secure boot" will exclude my current Ubuntu installation and if it's even possible to keep it. So... is there any way to upgrade to Windows 8 without overwriting Ubuntu? (I really don't want to reinstall it, as a lot of customization has been done here and taking backups and all would get pretty wearing (same case for Windows 7 - if possible, I'd like to keep my files)) This is not a dublicate of Installing Windows 8 over Windows 7 with Ubuntu installed using wubi? because this question only deals with the case when Ubuntu has been installed on (e.g.) D:\ (while Windows is being installed on C:\)

  • PC can't detect second RAM installed

    I have PC with 512 MB RAM installed (motherboard manufacture MICRO STAR, chipset P4M800), pc was running very slow so I decided to upgrade the ram. I installed CPU-Z and check the ram installed on the machine, also had a look at the stick installed. 512 MB PC 3200 400 MHz DDR but my mother supports 200 MHz and it was working ok. So I bought 2GB which I checked on manual that it support upto 2 GB Ram. So I installed 2GB PC 3200 400 MHz same as the old one, I plugged in both eventhough motherboard only support upto 2 GB but system spec only shows 512 (deducts 64 MB shared vga memory) I checked on CPU-Z, it detects both, slot 1 512 MB, slot 2 2048 MB, comparing screen for both slots, both the same, volt 2.5, frequency 166 MHz and 200MHz, only difference on those is 2gb ram shows under timings table 133MHz 166 MHz and 200MHz but 512 MB shows only 166MHz and 200MHz. I checked on Google and can't seems to figure out whats wrong with it. If I only plug in 2GB. Pc doesn't boot up like ram not working.With only 512 MB plugged in seems ok. Please help.

Things I've tried: Repair install of SQL Complete uninstall and reinstall of all MS SQL products. How can I get SQL Server running?

  • Debian dependency problems / partially installed

    I tried to install curl support for php 5 on my debian squeeze machine and since I'm having problems. After trying to install curl I got dependency issues which I tried to solve by removing what started the issues. From one thing came another and I'm currently looking at ~29 issues when I try to do an apt-get upgrade. These issues vary from unable to config, dependency and unable to remove errors. I tried apt-get upgrade -f and installing packages using dpkg command. I tried removing using purge and force. I manually removed stuff to try and fix it. I tried running dpkg --configure -a. I've to say I'm still pretty new to linux so I'm out of idea's and cant seem to find an answer online that matches my problems.     Hello there, I recently installed Ubuntu 10.04 LTS through Wubi on Windows XP. I installed it in a partition (say J:) and the installation went fine. I can access my other NTFS partitions directly in Ubuntu without any problem. But lately I just figured that I could not see my J: partition (where I installed Wubi) in my Ubuntu. I need to access it badly. Any idea?

  • Ignore non-unicode programs language when installing software

    This is something that is driving me nuts for a while and I haven't been able to find a solution for this problem anywhere. I am running Windows 7 and my "Language for non-Unicode programs" setting is set to Russian. I need for some non-unicode software that has a Russian UI. However, for most of my software I prefer to use the English UI. A lot of software out there is multilingual and is too smart for my liking. When installing, it switches the UI to Russian and the software UI stays in Russian after the installation without an option to change that, besides setting the "non-unicode language" to English. It switches back to Russian once I revert the setting and reboot. Most of the time it is driver software, i.e: Intel, HP, etc. How can force the installation to run English and stay that way after install, ignoring the "Language for non-Unicode programs" setting? Now, I understand this might be specific to the installer: MSI, Install Shield, etc. But any solution will be good, even if I have to apply it for every software installation.   • "Error 5: Access denied" when installing programs with UAC turned off

    I'm having some trouble installing msysgit 1.7.3.1preview on Windows 7 Home Premium. I downloaded the setup file from the Google Code and then ran it. Upon running, I got the following error: I have tried downloading and running different older versions of msysgit with no luck. For the record, I have administrative privileges and there are no other user accounts on this Windows machine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. UPDATE: I have managed to semi-fix this problem. I turned on User Account Control back to the default setting and and then ran the setup file as an administrator. I successfully managed to install Git. However, this means I have to keep UAC turned on whenever I want to install a new program (I realised that it persists over all programs; not just Git). So it's quite a nuisance. If anybody knows how I could keep UAC disabled whilst still being able to install programs without running their setup files as an administrator, I would be eternally grateful. UPDATE: I have changed the question title to better suit the new situation.
