    Hi there, I'm trying to setup SCOM(System Center Operations Manager 2007 (SCOM) – Platform Monitoring) on my Server 2008 machine using SQL Server 2008 running on the same machine. When I check my prerequisites I get problem on SQL and Active Directory components. (I'm running SQL server 2008 and Server 2008 with active directory not installed) Errors: 1.Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 1 required. Details: SQL Server 2005 SP1 is the next version of SQL Server. SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition, is a complete data and analysis platform for large mission-critical business applications. The link provided in the resolution column is a trial version of the product and is not supported by the Microsoft SQL Server team In order to install active directory needs to be present. Details:Setup failed to verify the presence of Active Directory for this server. I've got a couple of questions I need answering, hope someone can help. Do I need to install Active Directory for SCOM to work? Can I run SCOM with an SQL 2008 Database? How do I get pass these problems?

  • Web server connection to SQL Server: Response Packet [Malformed Packet]

    I am seeing very, very sluggish performance between my web server (which handles HTTP web services connections) and a separate server running Microsoft SQL Server 2008. I have been capturing packet traffic on the web server trying to understand why things are running so slowly. I am using Wireshark to capture the packet traffic. The apparent problem is that the web server is sending TDS packets to the data server--each packet followed by a response from the data server with Response Packet [Malformed Packet] in the Info field. The packet sent from the web server appears to have an invalid checksum. Has anyone seen this type of problem before? Any ideas?

  • MySQL Workbench: Orphaned document changes detected

    Each time I open MySQL Workbench, I get this annoying message at the bottom of the screen saying "Orphaned document changes detected". It comes up whether I close all the SQL Editor workspaces or not. Dismissing the error doesn't help either. I did a Google search of the exact error message but it only yields four results. Anyone here who has faced the same issue in the past? How do I clean up these "orphaned documents" or completely disable this message? FYI: I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and the only customization that's made to MySQL Workbench is that I've disabled the query results limit.

  • Can't restore backup from SQL Server 2008 R2 to SQL Server 2005 or 2008

    Hi everyone, I'm trying to get a backup from SQL Server 2008 R2 restored to SQL Server 2008, but when we try to do the restore we get this: The database was backed up on a server running version 10.50.1092. That version is incompatible with this server, which is running version 10.00.2531. Either restore the database on a server that supports the backup, or use a backup that is compatible with this server. I can use the script wizard to generate a script, but that takes over an hour to run. I also tried just exporting the data from server to server, but it had issues with the primary keys/identity columns. I will be running into this issue with several other clients so any help you could offer about how to get around this would be great. Thanks for your help!

  • SQL Server 2008: Can't connect to remote server via management studio but can telnet in fine

    Hi, I am in the process of trying to configure SQL Server 2008 to accept remote connections. I have been through all the documentation I can find and yet when I attempt to connect through management studio I get an error stating that the server could not be found. Interestingly I can connect through telnet to the remote server via the port that sql server is listening on. In the SQL Server logs I can see the connection attempt. So SQL Server is up and running and listening on the correct port - no firewall blocking it. It would appear that by default SQL Server is listening on port 50314 by default but management studio attempts to connect on port 1433.Weird. Server Management Studio = no dice. Anyone got any ideas? Server is set to allow remote connections - TCP IP is enabled, firewall is off. Thanks UPDATE FOR TO CLEAR THINGS UP A BIT We are seeing the connection attempt when we telnet in on port 50314 in the sql server logs. When we login through management studio we see it attempting connection on port 1433. There is no sign of this connection attempt in the logs.

  • Mac OS X, MySQL Preference Pane doesn't work

    I downloaded and installed MySQL 5.1.47 for OS X 10.6 using the DMG archive: mysql-5.1.47-osx10.6-x86_64.dmg I also installed MySQL.prefPane and MySQLStartupItem.pkg. MySQL.prefPane is a Preference Pane. The problem is, whenever I attempt to start/stop MySQL from the Preference Pane, System Preferences just hangs. It runs at about 50% CPU forever, eventually I have for force quit System Preferences. The same thing happens if I toggle "Automatically Start MySQL Server on Startup". Basically the MySQL Preference Pane is not functional. Note that I have no problem starting MySQL from the command line: sudo /usr/local/mysql/bin/mysqld_safe I have tried reinstalling MySQL and the Preference Pane. I'm using the standard installation location, nothing out of the ordinary. Every time the MySQL Preference Pane just hangs. I'm doing this on a Macbook Pro (Intel) running OS X 10.6.3. There are no old versions of MySQL on this machine.

    I'm trying to install MySQL on Ubuntu Natty from a shell script. However, I keep running into one major issue: when I try to define the password outside of the shell script. Below is the code to my shell script (which I have saved in /etc/init.d/install_mysql: export DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive echo mysql-server-5.1 mysql-server/root_password password $dbpass | debconf-set-selections echo mysql-server-5.1 mysql-server/root_password_again password $dbpass | debconf-set-selections apt-get -y install mysql-server So what I enter in the terminal is: dbpass="mysqlpass" chmod +x /etc/init.d/install_mysql /etc/init.d/install_mysql MySQL installs, but it installs without a password, so I can just do something like mysql -uroot to access mysql (which I don't want). The funny thing is if I put the password in the shell script as regular text, it works ok. So if I my install script is as follows, everything works (i.e. I must specify a password to access mysql): export DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive echo mysql-server-5.1 mysql-server/root_password password mysqlpass | debconf-set-selections echo mysql-server-5.1 mysql-server/root_password_again password mysqlpass | debconf-set-selections apt-get -y install mysql-server Is there a way I can use a shell script variable to define my password in the shell script, instead of entering the password literally?! Thanks in advance. EDIT I've found the answer to this. The following is what I should have entered in the terminal: dbpass="mysqlpass" export dbpass chmod +x /etc/init.d/install_mysql /etc/init.d/install_mysql It works like a charm now.

  • Mysql not loading correctly

    PHP 5.3.2 Apache 2.2.15 Mysql 5.1.X Windows XP SP3 I have now configured everything correctly but get a timeout when trying to connect to Mysql via PHP. So frustrated. I don't get an error message, the script just times out. I have made sure I have the correct paths. Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 60 seconds exceeded Any idea why this might be happening? I do a php -v from the command line and everything is normal, no errors. i upgraded PHP from 5.2.6 to 5.3.2 - does there seem to be problems or bugs with this? I am essentially using my previous PHP.ini while editing paths. I am lost. Help! If you need anything from phpinfo() or httpd.conf or php.ini let me know. else

  • MySQL replication hung after slave goes offline and comes back online again

    I have a master server and several slave servers replicating a single database. I am using in MySQL 5.0 in SLES 11. During fault tolerance testing I found that when the slave's network connection is broken (cable un-plugged) and then restored, replication hangs. It shows no errors and the slave appears to be running but the Read_Master_Log_Pos and Exec_Master_Log_Pos values do not match the log postion on the master server. The Slave_IO_State is "Waiting for master to send event". The Slave_IO_Running and Slave_SQL_Running values are both are "Yes". The Master_Log_File and Relay_Master_Log_File match. If I stop and start the slave or restart the mysql daemon, replication starts working again. Any ideas on what I can do about this?

  • Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket

    I was trying to tune the performance of a running mysql-server by running this command: mysqld_safe --key_buffer_size=64M --table_cache=256 --sort_buffer_size=4M --read_buffer_size=1M & After this i'm unable to connect mysql from the server where mysql is running. I get this error: ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (111) However, luckily i can still connect to mysql remotely. So all my webservers still have access to mysql and are running without any problems. Because of this though i don't want to try to restart the mysql server since that will probably mess everything up. Now i know that mysqld_safe is starting the mysql-server, and since the mysql server was already running i guess it's some kind of problem with two mysql servers running and listening to the same port. Is there some way to solve this problem without restarting the initial mysql server? UPDATE: This is what ps xa | grep "mysql" says: 11672 ? S 0:00 /bin/sh /usr/bin/mysqld_safe 11780 ?     I'm trying to upgrade an evaluation instance of SQL Server 2008 to a fully licensed instance of SQL Server 2008 R2. I made it most of the way through the installer, but I'm getting stopped at the Upgrade Rules page - the SQL Server Analysis Services Upgrade Service Functional Check is failing. The specific error I get: Rule "SQL Server Analysis Services Upgrade Service Functional Check" failed. The current instance of the SQL Server Analysis Services service cannot be upgraded because the Analysis Services service is disabled or not online. Please start the service and then run the upgrade rules check again. Simple enough - just need to start the service. Here's where it gets troublesome. When I open Services and go to start the SQL Server Analysis Services (MSSQLSERVER) service, it provides me the following message: The SQL Server Analysis Services (MSSQLSERVER) service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs. Trying from the command line as Administrator yields: PS C:\Windows\System32 net start MSSQLServerOLAPService The SQL Server Analysis Services (MSSQLSERVER) service is starting... The SQL Server Analysis Services (MSSQLSERVER) service could not be started. The service did not report an error. More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 3534. I've tried changing the logon setting of this service to Administrator, a user with admin privileges, and both the Local System and Network Service accounts - nothing works. In addition, when I look at the service through the SQL Server Configuration Manager (also run as Administrator), attempting to change the logon setting for the service results in the message: The server threw an exception. [0x80010105] I have no need for analysis services themselves - all I need is for this one service to be running long enough to do the R2 upgrade, then it can shut down again. Any thoughts on how to get the Analysis Services service running? Update: Checking the event log, I found an error logged to the Application log from the MSSQLServerOLAPService. It has event ID 0, task category (289), and says: The service cannot be started: XML parsing failed at line 1, column 4: Unrecognized input signature.

  • Authenticating Linked Servers - SQL Server 8 to SQL Server 10

    We have an old SQL Server 2000 database that has to be kept because it is needed on our manufacturing machines. It also maintains our employee records, since they are needed on these machines for employee logins. We also have a newer SQL Server 10 database (I think this is 2008, but I'm not sure) that we are using for newer development. I have recently learned (i.e. today) that I can link the two servers. This would allow me to access the employee tables in the newer server. Following the SF post SQL Server to SQL Server Linked Server Setup, I tried adding the link. In our SQL Server 2000 machine, I got this error: Similarly, on our SQL Server 10 machine, I got this error: The messages, though worded different, probably say the same thing: I need to authenticate, somehow. We have an Active Directory, but it is on yet another server. What, exactly, should be done here? A guy HERE<< said to check the Security settings, but did not say what else to do. Both servers are set to SQL Server and Windows Authentication mode. Now what?

    MySQL cluster: Error after 1 data node is shutdown and started again. We have configured MySQL cluster(version 7.1) with 2 sql/data nodes. We are using table space instead of in-memory clustering. The setup was working fine. So to test the setup I shutdown one data node, updated a table and and again stated the stopped node. Its giving this error and not starting. Any ideas ? Forced node shutdown completed. Occured during startphase 5. Caused by error 2306: 'Pointer too large(Internal error, programming error or missing error message, please report a bug). Temporary error, restart node'.

  • MySQL replication not working on leap day

    Though out of my "core" knowledge I maintain a two-way replicated MySQL database (primary and backup). It's been working fine mostly. All changes are almost instantly replicated between the two servers. But now I've noticed something strange: I have a couple of cases where there are no replication on feb 29th. Admittedly I have not yet confirmed that all replication is lost. But all cases I've found so far have had this issue. Not too long ago I changed timezone from UTC to CET on the backup, it has been CET on the primary all along. Am I fixating on this because it happened on the leap day, or could there be something to it? The servers are both CentOS 5.4 with MySQL 5.0

  • MySQL slave server not removing old relay binlogs

    I have a MySQL server with slave replication on another host. Today I stumbled across the high disk usage of the slave host and invastigated what takes up all the space. As it turns out this space is occupied by the slaves relay logs. I tried to turn the expire_logs_days variable down and restarted the MySQL daemon but the reported disk space stays the same. I could't really find anything exept that FLUSH LOGS should clear old logs. I tried that with no result. Is there any way I can reduce the disk space that the relay logs take?

  • SQL Server Management Studio Express 2005 has no Configuration Manager

    Where is the configuration manager for SQL Express 2005? I need to configure SQL Server for TCP/IP but there is no configuration manager with the package. I see SQL Server Database Publishing Wizard, I see SQL Server Migration Assistant for Access, but no Configuration Manager. According to the MSDN, there should be one. I've even looked online for a download of the Configuration Manager for SQL Server 2005, but could not find one. Did I miss something in the download or should I just scrap SQL Server Express and download the full-blown SQL Server for Developers?

A témáról nemrég irt a HWSW a következo cikkben: Az Oracle betekintést engedett a MySQL jövojébe. Idézetek a cikkbol: "Santa Clarában az O'Reilly MySQL Conference and Expo rendezvényen személyesen az Oracle fomérnöke, Edward Screven beszélt arról, milyen jövot szánnak a MySQL-nek." "Screven igyekezett megerosíteni az Oracle korábbi vállalásait. "Továbbra is fejleszteni és javítani és támogatni fogjuk a MySQL-t" - szögezte le a fomérnök..." Miért is érdekes ez? Azért mert Oracle Business Intelligence csomagok egyik adatforrása a MySQL adatbázis. Azért mert az Oracle BI csomagok lelke, az Oracle BI Server egyedülállóan jól integrál heterogén adatforrásokat, mindezt egyetlen közös üzleti metaadat réteggel! Többek között erre nem képesek más szállítók.

  • Megjelent a MySQL 5.5

    Rekord ido alatt készült el az új MySQL 5.5 verziót, melyet a mai nap jelentett be az Oracle. Ez újabb bizonyítéka annak, hogy az Oracle komolyan fejleszti a MySQL-t is, és igyekszik innovatív megoldásokkal megörvendeztetni a MySQL felhasználókat is. Akinek 'Déja-vu' érzése van, az nem véletlen, hiszen a szeptemberi OpenWorld konferencián került bejelentésre a MySQL 5.5 RC, azaz a Release Candidate, melyrol beszámolt például a hwsw.hu is. Az új verzióban elsosorban a teljesítményen és a skálázhatóságon fejlesztett az Oracle. Így például alapértelmezetten az InnoDB storage engine jön a MySQL-el, aminek köszönhetoen például ACID (atomicity, consistency, isolation, durability) tranzakciókat hajt végre az adatbázis-kezelo (ez mondjuk nem egy apró részlet...). Emellett újdonságot jelent még a majdnem szinkron replikáció, a fejlettebb index és tábla particionálás, valamint diagnosztika terén bevezetésre került egy új PERFORMANCE_SCHEMA, aminek köszönhetoen javult a MySQL menedzselhetosége. A RC verzióval futtatott tesztek jelentos gyorsulást mutattak a MySQL 5.1-es verziójához képest, így érdemes megfontolni a verzió frissítést.
