  • How to handle build rule with unknown targets in OMake when target list generator is built

    - by Michael E
    I have a project which uses OMake for its build system, and I am trying to handle a rather tough corner case. I have some definition files and a tool which can take these definition files and create GraphViz files. There are two problems, though: Each definition file can produce multiple graphs, and the list of graphs it can produce is encoded in the file. My dump tool does have a -list option which lists all the graphs a definition file will produce. This dump tool is built in the source tree. I want this list available in the OMakefile so I can use other rules to convert the DOT files to SVG, and have a phony target depend on all the SVGs (goal: a single build command which builds SVG descriptions of all my graphs). If I only had the first problem, it would be easy - I would run the tool to build a list, and then use that list to build a target which invokes the dumper to output the GraphViz files. However, I am rather stuck on forcing the dump tool to be built before it is needed. If this were make, I would just run make recursively to build the dump tool. OMake does not allow recursive invocation, however, and the build function is only usable from osh. Any suggestions for a good solution to this problem?

  • in-place permutation of a array follows this rule

    - by Mgccl
    Suppose there is an array, we want to find everything in the odd index, and move it to the end. Everything in the even index move it to the beginning. The relative order of all odd index items and all even index items are preserved. Suppose the values of the array, a[i] = i, n is even. Then we have. 0,1,2,3,4,5,...,n-1 after the operation 0,2,4,6,...,n-2,1,3,5,7,...,n-1 Can this be done in-place and in O(n) time?

  • .htacces Rewrite Rule to Keep .php File Extensions

    - by user2672112
    I'm upgrading my static website that had .php extensions on the content pages. I've created my own simple cms which will start retrieving data from mysql database from now on, keeping the url structure same as the old once. The cms has get function to retrieve url structure from the database. Overall it started working fine with .html when i tested. But when i change the .html extension to .php in my .htaccess code the content pages starts reflecting "Internal Server Error. The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request." Here is my .htaccess code which i've used: RewriteBase / Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine On RewriteRule ^([^?]*).php$ content.php?pid=$1 Perhaps there is a conflict, here is the code with .html extension that actually works fine. RewriteBase / Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine On RewriteRule ^([^?]*).html$ content.php?pid=$1 So basically, content pages with .html are working & .php are not working. But i need my content pages to be with .php Please help. Thanks in advance... :)

  • An exception to the "only one implementation" rule ?

    - by ereOn
    While I was reading the accepted answer of this question, I had the following question: Typically, methods are defined in header files (.hpp or whatever), and implementation in source files (.cpp or whatever). One of the main reasons it is bad practice to ever include a "source file" (#include <source_file.cpp>) is that its methods implementation would then be duplicated, resulting in linking errors. When one writes: #ifndef BRITNEYSPEARS_HPP #define BRITNEYSPEARS_HPP class BritneySpears { public: BritneySpears() {}; // Here the constructor has implementation. }; #endif /* BRITNEYSPEARS_HPP */ He is giving the implementation of the constructor (here an "empty" implementation, but still). But why then including this header file multiple times (aka. on different source files) will not generate a "duplicate definition" error at link time ?

  • scala xml rewrite rule (or, simple pattern help)

    - by williamstw
    I'm missing some fairly simple syntax I gather. I'm trying to rewrite an element label to something else and keep everything else intact. object htmlRule extends RewriteRule { override def transform(n: Node): Seq[Node] = n match { case Elem(prefix, "document", attribs, scope, child@_*) => Elem(prefix, "html", attribs, scope, child) case other => other } } Now, I ask for an explanation of two things: 1) What exactly does "child@_*" mean in plain English? 2) How can I capture the value of "child@_*" and just let it pass right through to the new element? Currently, I get the following error, which makes sense. [error] found : Seq[scala.xml.Node] [error] required: scala.xml.Node [error] Elem(prefix, "html", attribs, scope, child) I'm not wedded to this either, so if there's a better way to simply change the element name of a specific node, let's here it... Thanks, --tim

  • What is the Rule of Thumb on Exposing Encapsulated Class Methods

    - by javamonkey79
    Consider the following analogy: If we have a class: "Car" we might expect it to have an instance of "Engine" in it. As in: "The car HAS-A engine". Similarly, in the "Engine" class we would expect an instance of "Starting System" or "Cooling System" which each have their appropriate sub-components. By the nature of encapsulation, is it not true that the car "HAS-A" "radiator hose" in it as well as the engine? Therefore, is it appropriate OO to do something like this: public class Car { private Engine _engine; public Engine getEngine() { return _engine; } // is it ok to use 'convenience' methods of inner classes? // are the following 2 methods "wrong" from an OO point of view? public RadiatorHose getRadiatorHose() { return getCoolingSystem().getRadiatorHose(); } public CoolingSystem getCoolingSystem() { return _engine.getCoolingSystem(); } } public class Engine { private CoolingSystem _coolingSystem; public CoolingSystem getCoolingSystem() { return _coolingSystem; } } public class CoolingSystem { private RadiatorHose _radiatorHose; public RadiatorHose getRadiatorHose() { return _radiatorHose; } } public class RadiatorHose {//... }

  • rule based file parsing

    - by user359490
    I need to parse a file line by line on given rules. Here is a requirement. file can have multiple lines with different data.. 01200344545143554145556524341232131 1120034454514355414555652434123213101200344545143554145556524341232131 2120034454514 and rules can be like this. if byte[0,1] == "0" then extract this line to /tmp/record0.dat if byte[0,1] == "1" then extract this line to /tmp/record1.dat if byte[0,1] == "2" then extract this line to /tmp/record2.dat I am looking for any language which can do this in a fast manner with a very long file size like 2 GB. Appreciate all the help in advance. Thanks

  • CSS Rule Priorities

    - by Antilogic
    Given the following mark-up... <div id="Header"> <a href="#" class="Highlight">foo</a> </div> And the following stylesheet... /******************Exceptions******************/ #Footer, #Header, #Footer a, #Header a { color: #f8f8f8; } /******************Classes******************/ .Highlight, a.Highlight { color: #B1D355; } .Notification, a.Notification { color: Red; } Why is my link still off-white (F8F8F8) rather than green (B1D355)? Shouldn't using the class Highlight override the color settings for Header and Footer since it comes after their declarations?

  • Replacing characters in Ruby string according to some rule

    - by Kyle Kaitan
    In Ruby, I have a string of identical characters -- let's say they're all exclamation points, as in !!!!. I would like to replace the characters at certain indices with '*' if the integer corresponding to that index meets some criteria. For example, let's say I want to replace all the characters whose indices are even numbers and are greater than 3. In the string !!!!!!!! (8 characters long), that results in !!!!*!*! (indices 4 and 6 have been replaced). What's the most compact way to do this?

  • Rule of precedence == over =

    Hello, I am just wondering would it be better to do this: if((fd = open(filename, O_RDWR)) == -1) { fprintf(stderr, "open [ %s ]\n", strerror(errno)); return 1; } or this fd = open(filename, O_RDWR); if(fd == -1) { fprintf(stderr, "open [ %s ]\n", strerror(errno)); return 1; } Many thanks for any suggestions,

  • Singleton rule questions (do not allow to create copy and deserialization)

    - by Petr
    Hi, Reading some article about singleton, I stopped at the point saying: "Do not allow to crate copy of existing instance". I realized that I do not know how would I do that! Could you tell me, please, how could I copy existing instance of class? And the second one: deserializaition. How it could be dangerous? And for both - how to deny creating copies or deserialization? Thanks

  • Convert to lowercase in a mod_rewrite rule.

    - by dreeves
    I would like URLs like server.com/foo to be case-insensitive. But server.com/foo actually gets mod_rewrite'd to server.com/somedir/foo (Assume that all the files in "somedir" are lower case.) So the question is, how to accomplish a mod_rewrite like the following: RewriteRule ^([^/]+)/?$ somedir/convert_to_lowercase($1)

  • Rules engine for Silverlight?

    - by frances1983
    At the moment I'm developing a web based application using Silverlight 3.0. For the business rules I'm looking for a rules engine that's both easy to use for me and my users, which will work with SL3. Is something like that available out of the box or will I need to roll my own? I've Googled and looked around the various code sites (Codeplex, Code Project etc), but didn't see anything that suits my needs. I did also have a good long look at NxBRE, but it's Rules syntax is too complex for 'dummy' users.

  • Rules engine for spatial and temporal reasoning?

    - by John
    I have an application that receives a number of datums that characterize spatial / temporal processes. It then filters these datums and creates actions which are then sent to processes that perform the actions. Rinse and repeat. At present, I have a collection of custom filters that perform a lot of complicated spatial/temporal calculations. Many times as I discuss my system to individuals in my company, they ask if I'm using a rules engine. I have yet to find a rules engine that is able to reason well temporally and spatially. (Things like When are two entities ever close? Is entity A ever in region B? If entity C is near entity D but oriented backwards relative to C then perform action D.) I have looked at Drools, Cyc, Jess in the past (say 3-4 years ago). It's time to re-examine the state of the art. Any suggestions? Any standards that you know of that support this kind of reasoning? Any defacto standards? Any applications? Thanks!

  • Criteria to Evaluate Business Rules Engines

    - by flybywire
    We are shopping for Business Rules Engines. We want to make our core application customizable to different customers with slightly different requirements. The people who would actually do the customizations are analysts. I.e. non-programmers who are technically skilled (usually have a degree in sciences). What are the criteria to evaluate business rules engines? Are there open source and comercial ones? What are your experiences in ease of use, documentation, support, price, etc. Our app is in Java.

  • Space-based architecture?

    - by rcampbell
    One chapter in Pragmatic Programmer recommends looking at a blackboard/space-based architecture + a rules engine as a more flexible alternative to a traditional workflow system. The project I'm working on currently uses a workflow engine, but I'd like to evaluate alternatives. I really feel like a SBA would be a better solution to our business problems, but I'm worried about a total lack of community support/user base/venders/options. JavaSpaces is dead, and the JINI spin-off Apache River seems to be on life support. SemiSpace looks perfect, but it's a one-man show. The only viable solution seems to be GigaSpaces. I'd like to hear your thoughts on space based architecture and any experiences you've had with real world implementations.

  • Aspect Oriented Programming vs List<IAction> To execute methods based on conditions

    - by David Robbins
    I'm new to AOP so bear with me. Consider the following scenario: A state machine is used in a workflow engine, and after the state of the application is changed, a series of commands are executed. Depending on the state, different types of commands should be executed. As I see it, one implementation is to create List<IAction> and have each individual action determine whether it should execute. Would a Aspect Oriented process work as well? That is, could you create an aspect that notifies a class when a property changes, and execute the appropriate processes from that class? Would this help centralize the state specific rules?

  • Storing objects in STL vector - minimal set of methods

  • vector does not erase content correctly (infite amount run of copy asignment operator untill crash [BEX])?

    - by Gam Erix
    Well my problem is that after I want to "unload" loaded DLL's the copy assignmnent operator is called an unlimited amount of times until crash. The code from which I remove the vector data looks like this: void UnloadPlugins() { dbg(("[DBG]UnloadPlugins()")); for(std::vector<DLLInfo>::iterator it = plugins.begin(); it != plugins.end(); ++it) { plugins.erase(it); } dbg(("[DBG]UnloadPlugins()::Done")); } however "[DBG]UnloadPlugins()::Done" gets never printed. this is my copy assignmnent operator: // 2. copy assignment operator DLLInfo& operator=(const DLLInfo& that) { dbg(("[DBG]Start-DLLInfo& operator=(const DLLInfo& that)")); Instance = that.Instance;//hinstance dbg(("[DBG]DLLInfo 1")); //Identifier.assign(that.Identifier);//string dbg(("[DBG]DLLInfo 2")); IsAMX = that.IsAMX;//integer dbg(("[DBG]DLLInfo 3")); dwSupportFlags = that.dwSupportFlags;//integer dbg(("[DBG]DLLInfo 4")); Load = that.Load;//integer dbg(("[DBG]DLLInfo 5")); Unload = that.Unload;//integer dbg(("[DBG]DLLInfo 6")); Supports = that.Supports;//integer dbg(("[DBG]DLLInfo 7")); ProcessTick = that.ProcessTick;//integer dbg(("[DBG]DLLInfo 8")); AmxLoad = that.AmxLoad;//integer dbg(("[DBG]DLLInfo 9")); AmxUnload = that.AmxUnload;//integer dbg(("[DBG]DLLInfo 10")); UseDestructor = that.UseDestructor;//bool dbg(("[DBG]DLLInfo 11")); KeyboardHit = that.KeyboardHit;//integer dbg(("[DBG]End-DLLInfo& operator=(const DLLInfo& that)")); return *this; } So the log looks like: [17:50:50] [DBG]UnloadPlugins() [17:50:50] [DBG]~DLLInfo [17:50:50] [DBG]~DLLInfo::if(this->UseDestructor) passed [17:50:50] [DBG]~DLLInfo::if(this->UseDestructor)::if(this->Unload != NULL && this->IsAMX) passed [17:50:50] [DBG]~DLLInfo::end [17:50:50] [DBG]Start-DLLInfo& operator=(const DLLInfo& that) [17:50:50] [DBG]DLLInfo 1 [17:50:50] [DBG]DLLInfo 2 [17:50:50] [DBG]DLLInfo 3 [17:50:50] [DBG]DLLInfo 4 [17:50:50] [DBG]DLLInfo 5 [17:50:50] [DBG]DLLInfo 6 [17:50:50] [DBG]DLLInfo 7 [17:50:50] [DBG]DLLInfo 8 [17:50:50] [DBG]DLLInfo 9 [17:50:50] [DBG]DLLInfo 10 [17:50:50] [DBG]DLLInfo 11 [17:50:50] [DBG]End-DLLInfo& operator=(const DLLInfo& that) [17:50:50] [DBG]Start-DLLInfo& operator=(const DLLInfo& that) ...   • IIS7.5 Outbound Rule for lower case URLs in <a href="...">

    - by Quog
    Hi, I know how to canonicalise the case of URLs on incoming request to IIS7.5, in fact, there's a built in rule template to start from. But how about outbound (without changing the code)? This is where I got to so far: <outboundRules> <rule name="Outbound lowercase" preCondition="IsHTML" enabled="true"> <match filterByTags="A" pattern="[A-Z]" ignoreCase="false" /> <action type="Rewrite" value="{ToLower:{R:0}}" /> </rule> <preConditions> <preCondition name="IsHTML"> <add input="{RESPONSE_CONTENT_TYPE}" pattern="^text/html" /> </preCondition> </preConditions> </outboundRules> However, IIS barfs on the action with a 500 implying an invalid web.config, probably on the {ToLower:XXXX} which I stole from the MS-supplied inbound rule template. Anyone know how to do this? Anyone know where the options are fully documented (my GoogleNinja skills failed me: I found this but "Specifies value syntax for the rule. This element is available only for the Rewrite action type" is not really comprehensive). Thanks, Damian

  • What is the character used to indent the Make file rule recipe?

    - by goldenmean
    Hi, I am using gnu make and in a Makefile I have, I see below rule. I want to add a similar rule with a recipe, but when I add a rule and its receipe on the next line by giving a tab or space for the recipe, I get make error. dummy : @echo $(OBJS) When i turned on the vim command :set list , i see: dummy :$ ^I@echo $(OBJS)$ What exactly are the characters before the recipe line(second line) which indent it from the start of line? How do I enter them using keyboard (without having to copy paste the exisitng rule and then modifying it? Where would I find information for various spaces/indents to be used in creating a Makefile from beginning, by hand(Not a automake/or other tool created makefile)? thanks, -AD.

  • Why UFW has to be (re)started at boot time if it's only iptables rule manager?

    - by Tomasz Zielinski
    README from source package says: When installing ufw from source, you will also need to integrate it into your boot process for the firewall to start when you restart your system. Depending on your needs, this can be as simple as adding the following to a startup script (eg rc.local for systems that use it): # /lib/ufw/ufw-init start For systems that use SysV initscripts, an example script is provided in doc/initscript.example. See doc/upstart.example for an Upstart example. Consult your distribution's documentation for the proper way to modify your boot process. On my system I have this: # /etc/ufw/ufw.conf # # Set to yes to start on boot. If setting this remotely, be sure to add a rule # to allow your remote connection before starting ufw. Eg: 'ufw allow 22/tcp' ENABLED=yes So, why does simple iptables rule manager need to be started at boot time? Is there any secret to that, or it merely checks if all rules are in place ?
