    I heard that private constructor prevent object creation from outside world. When i have a code public class Product { public string Name { get;set;} public double Price {get;set;} Product() { } public Product(string _name,double _price) { } } here still i can declare public constructor(parameter),won't it spoil the purpose of private constructor? When do we need both private and public constructor(parameter) in code? I need detailed explanation please.

    I have created a package in VS2010 RC using the MPF (Managed Package Framework) and I get the following error. Can somebody help me out with this ?? The "UseRANU" parameter is not supported by the "VsTemplatePaths" task. Verify the parameter exists on the task, and it is a settable public instance property. The "VsTemplatePaths" task could not be initialized with its input parameters.

    I was hoping to do something like this, but it appears to be illegal in C#: public Collection MethodThatFetchesSomething<T>() where T : SomeBaseClass { return T.StaticMethodOnSomeBaseClassThatReturnsCollection(); } I get a compile-time error: "'T' is a 'type parameter', which is not valid in the given context." Given a generic type parameter, how can I call a static method on the generic class? The static method has to be available, given the constraint.

    I haven't ever before created custom component in jsf so I've noticed it only now that methods like encodeBegin(), encodeEnd() etc accept FacesContext parameter. FacesContext instance can usually be received with FacesContext.getCurrentInstance(). So, I wonder whether these methods have FacesContext parameter just for convenience or some different objects can be passed there (maybe from external resources..). If the latter is possible then could you give an example pls.

    I am passing an iVar into a function. The iVar is a double. The value of the iVar inside the function is correct, but the value of the iVar outside the function is not changed. This must have something to do with the way that I am receiving the iVar into the function. How do I pass a double iVar in so that its value is changed in the object and not only in the function? I do the same thing with pointers and the results are as expected, so I think I am not understanding scalar argument passing in c/objective-c.

But currently passing a string seems to already have a problem. Any know what I did wrong here? Still not working the code above. Anyone want to help me out here?

    I'm developing my first java application using Eclipse. I've recently needed to adjust the amount of memory allocated by passing -Xmx256M to the JVM. The application is currently package up as a runnable jar and installed using the NSIS. I'm having a problem passing arguments to the jar file once its installed. What is the common practice for doing this? Here is what I'm currently doing in my nsi file: CreateShortcut "$SMPROGRAMS\$StartMenuGroup\$(^Name).lnk" "$SYSDIR\javaw.exe" "-jar -Xmx256M $INSTDIR\Foo.jar" This results in the following being created as the shortcut Target on windows: C:\WINDOWS\system32\javaw.exe -jar -Xmx256M C:\Program Files\Foo\Foo.jar Unfortunately this does not work due to the space in C:\Program Files, If I change the link created manually to include quotes all is well: C:\WINDOWS\system32\javaw.exe -jar -Xmx256M "C:\Program Files\Foo\Foo.jar"

Example: Let's say, I have a c++ project, and in it's Debug configuration I put a preprocessor definition like MAKUMBA_OBA=0x13 Then I add custom pre-link step which executes some javascript like sarahjessicaparker.js /to tomsrhinoplasty $(MAKUMBA_OBA) It would be great, if it just worked, but I never get a third parameter in my js.     In my web application I have various components that need to access the currently authenticated user (HttpContext.User). There are two obvious ways a component can access this: 1) Accessing getting the User from HttpContext.Current 2) Passing the user around in constructors Is not ideal because it makes testing difficult and ties application components to web concerns, when they really shouldn't know about it. Is just messy and complicates everything. So I've been thinking about passing in the current user (or perhaps just the name/id) to any component that needs it using an IoC container (via dependency injection). Is anyone using this technique to supply the current ASP.NET user to parts of the application? Or, Does this sound like a sensible approach? I would like know how this has worked out for people.
