Currently I have done it in following style. If so, was it just a matter of convention or was it due to some deeper underlying reason? I'm currently programming in Java and noticed that the Arrays class uses the former style. The exclusivity of the to argument felt somewhat unintuitive to me, which led me to ask this question.

• What would one call this architecture?

  I have developed a distributed test automation system which consists of two different entities. One entity is responsible for triggering tests runs and monitoring/displaying their progress. The other is responsible for carrying out tests on that host. Both of these entities retrieve data from a central DB. Now, my first thought is that this is clearly a server-client architecture. After all, you have exactly one organizing entity and many entities that communicate with said entity. However, while the supposed clients to communicate to the server via RPC, they are not actually requesting services or information, rather they are simply reporting back test progress, in fact, once the test run has been triggered they can complete their tasks without connection to the server. The request for a service is actually made by the supposed server which triggers the clients to carry out tests. So would this still be considered a server-client architecture or is this something different?

  i have a problem about phpexcel and joomla. I'm developing some filter form to load excel reports, so i used phpexcel library to do this. Right now i have only a report, it works fine, but after that i upload inside joomla using PHP pages component that allows me to put php files inside joomla and call it. When i put them, i change a little bit the form that calls the php that generates the excel report, i call the php using a link like this: h**p://www.whiblix.com/index.php?option=com_php&Itemid=24 That is, calling it from Joomla, not directly the php. If i wanna call the php directly i could use this path: h**p://www.whiblix.com/components/com_php/files/repImportaciones.php What's the problem? The problem is, when i call the php that generates the excel through joomla, the excel that is downloaded is corrupt and only shows symbols in one cell when i open it. But if i call the php directly the report is generated fine. I could call the php directly, the problem is that if i call it directly i can't use this line of code: defined( '_JEXEC' ) or die( 'Restricted access' ); That is used to deny the direct access to php from call it directly, because it doesn' work because the security. Where's the problem?   I want to create a voip service. I have installed asterisk-1.4 on a dedicated remotely hosted debian lenny distro. I made a sip.conf and extensions.conf so as to place a call between two sip phones(i am using xlite 3.0) installed in some other Windows PC. Whenever i switch this phones the asterisk console shows that Registration from '"1000"<sip:[email protected]>' failed for '122.168.10.254' - Peer is not supposed to register Where xx.xx.xx.xx is the server's IP. i.e my sip phones are unable to register with the asterisk server. • Spawn phone call from EC2 alerts

  I have a system setup on AWS/EC2, it currently is using their CloudWatch alert system. The problem is this sends just to email, when ideally I would like this to be making a phone call and/or sending text messages to certain phone numbers when an alert fires (Note that I do not need the phone call to actually say anything, just call the person). We are trying to solve the problem that Amazon alerts are only useful if people are checking their email, which isnt always the case because all server problems love to happen at 4am on saturday... Please respond with any possible solutions/ideas, ideally I do not want to implement an entire monitoring system (IE: Nagios) on top of everything to handle this.

  My environment: Centos 5.6, Asterisk with freepbx , skype i.e.sends message with parameter skype.sh skype_user message. Now i wanted to send skype notification so that my asterisk server notification are sent to skype rather than email (or to both skype and email). I know, there is voicemail.conf, voicemail_general and vm_email.inc, which has these body created. vm_email.inc emailbody=${VM_NAME},\n\nThere is a new voicemail in mailbox ${VM_MAILBOX} But i dont see where is something like "mail" command. What my thought to do is: instead of saying "mailcmd" pass system ( /path/to/script) and it would simply send message as rest is already configured. Any suggestion where i could run script rather than sending email Or Executing script on every incoming call, so that i could send as notification on every call over the Skype. (however, ultimate goal is to achieve miss call notification or voice mail notification over Skype.)

  I run a script tailing a log in a remote server, like so: ssh userx@someip tail -f /data/current.log|python2.7 monitorlog.py There are dependencies and service requirements that disallows me to run the script off the remote server. (DB, ACLs, and path to another service is uses) Is there a way I can tail and monitor a log without using the ssh userx@someip? I thought about generating RSA keys but I think you still need a user to ssh.

The callback function on successful call would be something like this.   The only documentation I can find (on MSDN or otherwise) is that a call to _fpreset() "resets the floating-point package." What is the "floating point package?" Does this also clear the FPU status word? I see documentation that says to call _fpreset() when recovering from a SIGFPE, but doesn't _clearfp() do this as well? Do I need to call both? I am working on an application that unmasks some FP exceptions (using _controlfp()). When I want to reset the FPU to the default state (say, when calling to .NET code), should I just call _clearfp(), _fpreset(), or both. This is performance critical code, so I don't want to call both if I don't have to...

  I have an ASP.NET site, and some pages need to call a web service. I used Visual Studio's "Add Web Reference" to auto-generate classes and methods for the web service. When I call the service synchronously, i.e. objService.MethodName("param1"), a call might take a second or so. When I call it asynchronously, i.e., objService.BeginMethodName("param1", AddressOf MyCallback, Nothing), it typically takes about 6 seconds. When debugging, it appears that the bulk of the time is spent waiting between the completion of the BeginMethodName call and the beginning of MyCallback. Does the thread switching really incur that much overhead? Is there another reason for this?

• How can I use the "Windows Live Call Button" on my headphone to answer a call with Skype?

  Webcams and headphones from Microsoft (like for example the LifeChat ZX-6000, in my case) have a button which can be used only with Windows Live Messenger, to answer a call. There is no option provided to configure it so that it would launch a program, or work in another communicator, in the given drivers. Is there a way to make it work with Skype, so that I can answer a call by pressing this button? Maybe there are other drivers?

  We use Citrix to access an app (APP1) remotely. As it currently stands, when APP1 needs to do a merge document, it calls a session of another app (APP2) from the Citrix server. However, due to latency issues, we now want APP1 to call a local version of APP2. This is controlled in the registry entry for APP1. I'm wondering what kind of path entry would need to be made so that APP1 would call the local APP2 while following the rules of the Citrix profile.

  Hi I have a traditional telephony system at home. I also got an voip ATA device connected to the telephone socket. On a normal phone you can just plug it into the wall socket then multiple people on different phones can speak a the same time. Currently for me to take this call whoever answered the call will forward it onto my internal number. Is there not a way I can make it work like the analogue system so I can just pick up the phone?
