  • Is there a way to copy/paste with iterm2 on osx over ssh with tmux and vim?

    Given I am SSHed into a server and have tmux running, is there any straightforward way to be able to yank into a register in vim and: have that text be available in my tmux clipboard? have that text available in my osx clipboard? I know how to copy/paste in tmux and iterm2 seems to handle passing that onto my osx clipboard. However there are times when I want to yank text in a vim split screen and the tmux copy/paste won't do. Anyone figured this out? Thanks so much!

    I have installed psensor and see a list of temperatures, but listed as ”Temperature 1”, 2, 3 etc . I can only guess where the processor is: but who's who for sure? The same question stands for Sensors Viewer. I can also type sensors in Terminal but I get no more than that acpi -t gives Thermal 0: ok, 65.0 degrees C Thermal 1: ok, 37.9 degrees C Thermal 2: ok, 56.0 degrees C Thermal 3: active, 71.0 degrees C Considering psensor, I know for a fact that: - the temperature that varies most depending on the CPU use is Temp1 and it is one of the two highest - the other high temperature is Temp4 and it goes to the ceiling when using youtube/flash - Temp2 is very stable at a medium level of 50-60 degrees Celsius - Temp3 is by far the lowest and most imobile So, I guess Temp1 is the CPU temperature, and Temp4 is the GPU temperature. Temp2 and 3 must be the motherboard and the hdd. Does anybody know for sure?

  • Excel - Dynamic row reference based on the row I paste a formula into?

    I have a simple, oft-used formula that I paste as plain text into spreadsheets I receive. It looks something like this: =IF(D8="FOO", "BAR", "BAZ") It looks in D8 for the word "FOO". If it finds it it will show "BAR". If it doesn't it will show "BAZ" It works great. The problem is I have to paste this formula as plain text into many spreadsheets. It should ALWAYS look in column D for "FOO", however I don't always want it to look in row 8. I'd like it to look at whatever row I'm pasting it into. For example, if I pasted the above formula into row 25, say, I would like it to automatically change to this: =IF(D25="FOO", "BAR", "BAZ") Is there any way to achieve this?

    I run Linux, and am used to selecting text with the mouse to copy and pressing shift-Ins to paste. (This uses an alternate clipboard known as the "Primary Selection".) This seems to work in every app besides Firefox. Firefox uses a different clipboard, where Ctrl-C copies and Ctrl-V pastes. Is there a keystroke or configuration change I can do to make Firefox paste from the Unix "primary selection" clipboard -- the one it pastes from when I click the middle mouse button? Edit: I'm looking for a keyboard shortcut. Not mouse.

  • SSMS Results to Grid - CRLF not preserved in copy/paste - any better techniques?

    When I have a result set in the grid like: SELECT 'line 1 line 2 line 3' or SELECT 'line 1' + CHAR(13) + CHAR(10) + 'line 2' + CHAR(13) + CHAR(10) + 'line 3' With embedded CRLF, the display in the grid appears to replace them with spaces (I guess so that they will display all the data). The problem is that if I am code-generating a script, I cannot simply cut and paste this. I have to convert the code to open a cursor and print the relevant columns so that I can copy and paste them from the text results. Is there any simpler workaround to preserve the CRLF in a copy/paste operation from the results grid? The reason that the grid is helpful is that I am currently generating a number of scripts for the same object in different columns - a bcp out in one column, an xml format file in another, a table create script in another, etc...

  • How can I change my code in Excel 2003 to allow me to paste to multiple cells?

    Ran in to a little problem. If I try to paste to multiple cells that are in the range in the code below, I get a run time error 13, type mismatch. The cells in the range may have data other than X but I only want the hyperlink to appear if the cell contains X. It works fine if I just type an X in the cell or if I paste to one cell at a time. I will have times when I want to paste other text to mutiple cells in this range. Thanks to Remnant for his help on the original code. This one last hurdle will put me in the clear. Thx.     I have a text in an email on a windows box that looks something like this: 100 some random text 101 some more random text 102 lots of random text, all different 103 lots of random text, all the same I want to extract the numbers, i.e. the first word on each line. I've got a terminal running bash open on my Linux box... If these were in a text file, I would do this: awk '{print $1}' mytextfile.txt I would like to paste these in, and get my numbers out, without creating a temp file. my naive first attempt looked like this: $ awk '{print $1}' 100 some random text 100 101 some more random text 101 102 lots of random text, all different 103 lots of random text, all the same 102 103 The buffering of stdin and stdout make a hash of this. I wouldn't mind if stdin all printed first, followed by all of stdout; this is what would happen if I were to paste into 'sort' for example, but awk and sed are a different story. a little more thought gave me this: open two terminals. Create a fifo file. Read from the fifo on one terminal, write to it on another. This does in fact work, but I'm lazy. I don't want to open a second terminal. Is there a way in the shell that I can hide the text echoed to the screen when I'm passing it in to a pipe, so that I paste this: 100 some random text 101 some more random text 102 lots of random text, all different 103 lots of random text, all the same but see this? $ awk '{print $1}' 100 101 102 103

  • Where do I have to paste an "xinput" command so that it executes it when GNOME is started?

    On my Thinkpad I need to execute something like this in the terminal: xinput set-int-prop "TPPS/2 IBM TrackPoint" "Evdev Middle Button Emulation" 8 1 so that my the 2 buttons on my touchpad emulate the middle mouse click. Now I need this line to be executed each time I start GNOMe or X or whatever, so that it "just works". I tried ~/.xsession or ~/.bashrc but to no avail. Should I put it in GNOME start scripts or in /etc/X somewhere? I'm using Ubuntu 11.10.

  • How can I copy/paste files via RDP in Kubuntu?

    I recently installed the latest Kubuntu (x64) on my work machine as I am trying to migrate away from Windows. Unfortunately I use RDP very frequently to connect to customer's servers and need to be able to copy files across. I have tried the following packages with no luck: remmina rdesktop xfreerdp My latest attempt to solve this involved connecting one of my folders to the remote server, here is the command I used to launch rdesktop: rdesktop -5 -K -r disk:home=/home/dai -r clipboard:CLIPBOARD -r sound:off -x l -P 192.168.0.2 -u "administrator" -p pass The servers are not all running the same version of Windows, the one I've been trying so far is running Server 2003 R2. Customer servers range from Server 2000 to Server 2008. I've been Googling this like mad but all the solutions I find seem to fail, maybe because almost all the help out there assumes that I'm running Gnome. Sorry if this is a stupid question. Thanks in advance for your help. Edit: Copying and pasting text seems to work just fine, but that's not what I need.

  • Why is implementing copy-paste in a touch screen based smartphone such a big deal?

    I'm not entirely sure this is on-topic, but it definitely needs a programmer's understanding to be answered, and deals with general development (for a specific scenario) as opposed to a specific piece of code. In a way it also translates into "what are the challenges in doing X in a touch screen app", and similar questions have been asked here in the past. So here it is: When Apple didn't implement copy-pasting on the iPhone since version 1 I just assumed it was a UI issue- they were waiting until they figured out a good UI for it. But now the idea is out there, and Microsoft still released Windows Phone 7 without copy-pasting, promising it'll be ready in a few months. My question is: why does this takes a few months to implement? Are there some technological challenges that are unique to programming for a touch screen that I'm not familiar with?

    Replaced Graphics card because screen would go black at a certain temp while gaming, but sound would stay on (but locked up). Then with replacement card whole PC shuts off during gaming now because the CPU is overheating. Note: CPU is only supposed to go up to 71C max according to manufacturer and it goes well over upon load. System Temp: 30C TL;DR: Idling CPU at 65C, started to shut down due to overheating, re-place (CPU, or CPU and Motherboard) or re-paste?

I have tried Ctrl + v to no avail. I have also tried highlighting text and pasting it via the middle button on my mouse, which failed too. If I cut (dd) and paste (P) a folded subroutine outside the module/end module block, the freshly pasted fold stay closed. If I paste it inside the module/end module block, the newly pasted folded region appears instead unfolded. Can you reproduce the issue (vim 7.2 here) and do you know any workaround/fix ?

    I've been working on an application that has no discernable data access layer, so all the SQL statements are just built up as strings and executed. I'm constantly confronted by very long INSERT statements where I'm trying to figure out what value in the VALUES list matches up with what column in the column name list. I was about to create a little helper application where I could paste in an INSERT statement and have it show me a list of values matched up with the column names, just for debugging, and I thought, "someone else has probably done this already." Does anyone know of a web site where I can just paste in an INSERT statement and have it show me a two column table with column names in the first column and values in the second column?
