  • Quality Design for Asynchronous WCF Services Calls in a Middle-Tier and Returning Data to UI Tier

    I have a WPF application with a group of asynchronous WCF service calls all mashed into the code behind, complete with event handlers and everything, that I have to refactor to productionize and maintain. I want to separate concerns here for maintainability and all the other good reasons to do this, but I'm not sure exactly how to achieve this. Anybody have any good ideas on how to do this, or at least some links to put me in the right direction? My thinking: Create an "infrastructure" layer and reference the services there. Move the asynchronous event handlers into this layer. When an update is called, I will bubble up my own event with my own derivation of the EventArgs class that contains the data the UI will need. I'll have a fairly coupled hooking of the UI to the infrastructure layer as it will consume events I fire off upon completion of an asynchronous data call.

  • jQuery AutoComplete with three levels of suggestions?

    I am building a django based application and its time to add the DHTML stuff. One of my fields represent a database field with this format databaseName.tableName.fieldName I would like to have javascript autocompletion in three levels, say once I type part of the database names I get a list of all matching databases, one that is selected I get a list of all tables, and once that is selected I get a list of all fields in that table, all in the same textfield.     I am using coredata framework. In my NSManagedObjectModel i am using three entities that are Class, Student and Score where class and student have one-to-many & inverse relationship and Student and Score have also inverse but one-one relationship. Score entity has all optional attributes and having default '0' decimalVaue, which is not assigned at the time new Student is added. But later i want to assign them score individually and also to particular attribute not all of score attributes in a go. I am able to create and add Students to particular Class but dont have any idea how to call particular student and assign them score. For example I want to assign Score'attribute "dribbling" [there are many attributes like "tackling"] a decimal value to Student "David" of Class "Soccer" ,how i can do that?     I have a three level database with the following structure (simplified to only show the primary keys): Table A: a_id Table B: a_id, b_id Table C: a_id, b_id, c_id So possible values for table C would be something like this: a_id b_id c_id 1 1 1 1 1 2 1 1 3 1 2 1 1 2 2 2 1 1 2 2 1 2 2 2 ... I am now unsure, how foreign keys should be set; or if they should be set for the primary keys at all. My idea was to have a foreign key on table B B.a_id -> A.a_id, and two foreign key on C C.a_id -> A.a_id and ( C.a_id, C.b_id ) -> ( B.a_id, B.b_id ). Is that the way I should set up the foreign keys? Is the foreign key from C->A necessary? Or do I even need foreign keys at all given that all those columns are part of the primary keys? Thanks.

    I am new in Sql. My question is how to get data from three different tables with null values. I have tried a query as below: SELECT * FROM [USER] JOIN [Location] ON ([Location].UserId = [USER].Id) JOIN [ParentChild] ON ([ParentChild].UserId = [USER].Id) WHERE ParentId=7 which I find from this link. Its working fine but, it not fetches all and each data associated with the ParentId Something like it only fetches data which are available in all tables, but also omits some data which not available in Location tables but it comes under the given ParentId. For example: UserId ParentId 1 7 8 7 For userId 8, there is data available in Location table,so it fetches all data. But there is no data for userId 1 available in Location table, so the query didn't work for this. But I want all and every data. If there is no data for userId then it can return only null columns. Is it possible ?? hope everyone can understand my problem.

  • Three boolean values saved in one tinyint

    Hello, probably a simple question but I seem to be suffering from programmer's block. :) I have three boolean values: A, B, and C. I would like to save the state combination as an unsigned tinyint (max 255) into a database and be able to derive the states from the saved integer. Even though there are only a limited number of combinations, I would like to avoid hard-coding each state combination to a specific value (something like if A=true and B=true has the value 1). I tried to assign values to the variables so (A=1, B=2, C=3) and then adding, but I can't differentiate between A and B being true from i.e. only C being true. I am stumped but pretty sure that it is possible. Thanks

    I have the following tables: posts (post_id, content, etc) comments (comment_id, post_id, content, etc) posts_categories (post_category_id, post_id, category_id) and this query: SELECT `p`.*, COUNT(comments.comment_id) AS cmts, posts_categories.*,comments.* FROM `posts` AS `p` LEFT JOIN `posts_categories` ON `p`.post_id = `posts_categories`.post_id LEFT JOIN `comments` ON `p`.post_id = `comments`.post_id GROUP BY `p`.`post_id` There are three comments on post_id=1 and four in total. In posts_categories there are two rows, both assigned to post_id=1. I have four rows in posts. But if I query the statement above I get a result of 6 for COUNT(comments.comment_id) at post_id=1. How is this possible? I guess the mistake is somewhere in the GROUP BY clause but I can't figure out where. Any suggestions?

    Maybe you consider this question trivial but im just curious what is your opinion. I have three radiobuttons. "Show blue", "Show red" and "Show all". I did it with nullable boolean. There is collumn in database where blue is 0 and red is 1 so in metode i have to translate bool to int to compare those values (i do it in c#).Of course it works, but i wonder if it is the best solution. And question is wich type is best in this case? nullable bool, int, or maybe string?

  • Creating a row of Three Boxes Seperated

    I am new to css and I have a menu bar that I am working on however I am having a problem with one of the menu ("LINKS") items. If you roll over the Links menu item your notice I have three boxes there that I am trying to separate into there own area. Right now they are over lapping each other. Could you please tell me what I am doing wrong? I have tried margin-left and padding-left and I find that they either move the box further to the right or widen the box more.
