  • writing a Simplest XML DeSerialization class for the simplest xml file. How to avoid the nesting? de

    - by Enggr
Hi, I want to deserialize an xml file which has to be just in this form <Basket> <Fruit>Apple</Fruit> <Fruit>Orange</Fruit> <Fruit>Grapes</Fruit> </Basket> Out of the examples I read on internet the least possible format I could find was the following <Basket> <FruitArray> <Fruit>Apple</Fruit> </FruitArray> <FruitArray> <Fruit>Orange</Fruit> </FruitArray> <FruitArray> <Fruit>Grapes</Fruit> </FruitArray> </Basket> and that has the following deserialization class for converting it into a class object. using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; namespace XMLSerialization_Basket { [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlRootAttribute("Basket", Namespace = "BasketNamespace", IsNullable = false)] public class Basket { /// <remarks/> [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlElementAttribute("FruitArray")] public FruitArray[] objFruitArray; } /// <remarks/> [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlTypeAttribute(Namespace = "BasketNamespace")] public class FruitArray { /// <remarks/> private string _Fruit; public string Fruit { get { return _Fruit; } set { _Fruit = value; } } } } Can I add something like the following directly under top class private string _Fruit; public string Fruit { get { return _Fruit; } set { _Fruit = value; } } and avoid the array nesting? my goal is to deserialize an xml of following format <Basket> <Fruit>Apple</Fruit> <Fruit>Orange</Fruit> <Fruit>Grapes</Fruit> </Basket>

  • Displaying XML data using XSLT transformations in an ASP.Net site

    - by nikolaosk
In this post, I will try to show you how to display xml data in asp.net website after making some xslt transformations. You will need to know a few things about XSLT. The best place to find out about XSLT is this link . I am going to explain a few things about XSLT elements and functions in this post, anyway. You will see the namespaces we are going to use and some of the main classes and methods. All these come with the FCL (Framework class library) and we just have to know what they do. We will...(read more)

  • 2D Tile Map for Platformer, XML or SQLite?

    - by Stephen Tierney
I'm developing a 2D platformer with some uni friends. We've based it upon the XNA Platformer Starter Kit which uses .txt files to store the tile map. While this is simple it does not give us enough control and flexibility with level design. I'm doing some research into whether to store level data in an XML file or in a database like SQLite. Which would be the best for this situation? Do either have any drawbacks (performance etc) compared to the other?

Its will the easiest way to get a free php api for that I think, and try too edit some code. But I did not found anything.

  • Why do we need URIs for XML namespaces?

    - by Patryk
I am trying to figure out why we need URIs for XML namespaces and I cannot find a purpose for that. Can anyone brighten me a little showing their use on a concrete example? EDIT: Ok so for instance: I have this from w3schools <root xmlns:h="http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/" xmlns:f="http://www.w3schools.com/furniture"> <h:table> <h:tr> <h:td>Apples</h:td> <h:td>Bananas</h:td> </h:tr> </h:table> <f:table> <f:name>African Coffee Table</f:name> <f:width>80</f:width> <f:length>120</f:length> </f:table> </root> So what should http://www.w3schools.com/furniture hold ?

  • Guidance for Web XML Api's

    - by qstarin
I have to create an API for our application that is accessible over HTTP. I envision the API's responses to be simple XML documents. It won't be a REST API (not in the strict sense of REST). I am fairly new to this space - of course I've had to consume some Web API's in my work, but often they are already wrapped in language native libraries (i.e., TweetSharp). I'm looking for information to guide the design of an API. Are there any articles, blog posts, etc. that review and expound upon the design choices to be made in a Web API? Design choices would be things like how to authenticate, URL structure, when users submit should the URL they POST to determine the action being performed or should all requests go to a common URL and some part of the POST'd data is responsible for routing to a command, should all responses have the same document root or should errors have a different root, etc., etc. Ideally, such articles or blog posts would enumerate through the common variations for any given point of design and expound on the advantages and disadvantages, such that they would inform me to make my own decision (as opposed to articles that simply explain one single way to do something). Does anyone have any links or wisdom they can share?

  • How to design database having multiple interrelated entities

    - by Sharath Chandra
I am designing a new system which is more of a help system for core applications in banks or healthcare sector. Given the nature of the system this is not a heavy transaction oriented system but more of read intensive. Now within this application I have multiple entities which are related to each other. For e.g. Assume the following entities in the system User Training Regulations Now each of these entities have M:N Relationship with each other. Assuming the usage of a standard RDBMS, the design may involve many relationship tables each containing the relationships one other entity ("User_Training", "User_Regulations", "Training_Regulations"). This design is limiting since I have more than 3 entities in the system and maintaining the relationship graph is difficult this way. The most frequently used operation is "given an entity get me all the related entities" . I need to design the database where this operation is relatively inexpensive. What are the different recommendations for modelling this kind of database.

  • Getting XML Numbered Entities with PHP 5 DOM

    - by user343607
Hello guys, I am new here and got a question that is tricking me all day long. I've made a PHP script, that reads a website source code through cURL, then works with DOMDocument class in order to generate a sitemap file. It is working like a charm in almost every aspect. The problem is with special characters. For compatibility reasons, sitemap files needs to have all special chars encoded as numbered entities. And I am not achieving that. For example, one of my entries - automatically read from site URLs, and wrote to sitemap file - is: http://www.somesite.com/serviços/redesign/ On the source code it should looks like: http://www.somesite.com/servi*ç*os/redesign/ Just this. But unfortunately, I am really not figuring it out how to do it. Source code file, server headers, etc... everything is encoded as UTF-8. I'm using DOMDocument and related extensions to build the XML. (Basically, DOMDocument, $obj-createElement, $obj-appendChild). htmlentities gives ç instead of ç str_replace does not work. It makes the character just vanish in the output. I was using $obj-createElement("loc", $url); on my code, and just now I read in PHP manual that I should use $document-createTextNode($page), in order to have entities encoding support. Well, it is not working either. Any idea on how to get unstuck of this? Thanks.

  • PHP - DOM class - numbered entities and encodings problem

    - by user343607
Hi guys, I'm having some difficult with PHP DOM class. I am making a sitemap script, and I need the output of $doc-saveXML() to be like <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <root> <url> <loc>http://www.somesite.com/servi&#xE7;os/redesign</loc> </url> </root> or <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <root> <url> <loc>http://www.somesite.com/servi&#231;os/redesign</loc> </url> </root> but I am getting: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <root> <url> <loc>http://www.somesite.com/servi&amp;#xE7;os/redesign</loc> </url> </root> This is the closet I could get, using a replace named to numbered entities function. I was also able to reproduce <?xml version="1.0" ?> <root> <url> <loc>http://www.somesite.com/servi&amp;#xE7;os/redesign</loc> </url> </root> But without the encoding specified. The best solution (the way I think the code should be written) would be: <?php $myArray = array(); // do some stuff to populate the with URL strings $doc = new DOMDocument('1.0', 'UTF-8'); // here we modify some property. Maybe is the answer I am looking for... $urlset = doc->createElement("urlset"); $urlset = $doc->appendChild($urlset); foreach($myArray as $address) { $url = $doc->createElement("url"); $url = $urlset->appendChild($url); $loc = $doc->createElement("loc"); $loc = $url->appendChild($loc); $valueContent = $doc->createTextNode($value); $valueContent = $loc->appendChild($address); } echo $doc->saveXML(); ?> Notes: Server response header contains charset as UTF-8; PHP script is saved in UTF-8; URLs read are UTF-8 strings; Above script contains encoding declaration on DOMDocument constructor, and does not use any convert functions, like htmlentities, urlencode, utf8_encode... I've tried changing the DOMDocument properties DOMDocument::$resolveExternals and DOMDocument::$substituteEntities values. None combinations worked. And yes, I know I can made all process without specifying the character set on DOMDocument constructor, dump string content into a variable and make a very simple string substitution with string replace functions. This works. But I would like to know where I am slipping, how can this be made using native API's and settings, or even if this is possible. Thanks in advance.

  • Storing Entity Framework Entities in a Separate Assembly

    - by Anthony Trudeau
The Entity Framework has been valuable to me since it came out, because it provided a convenient and powerful way to model against my data source in a consistent way.  The first versions had some deficiencies that for me mostly fell in the category of the tight coupling between the model and its resulting object classes (entities). Version 4 of the Entity Framework pretty much solves this with the support of T4 templates that allow you to implement your entities as self-tracking entities, plain old CLR objects (POCO), et al.  Doing this involves either specifying a new code generation template or implementing them yourselves.  Visual Studio 2010 ships with a self-tracking entities template and a POCO template is available from the Extension Manager.  (Extension Manager is very nice but it's very easy to waste a bunch of time exploring add-ins.  You've been warned.) In a current project I wanted to use POCO; however, I didn't want my entities in the same assembly as the context classes.  It would be nice if this was automatic, but since it isn't here are the simple steps to move them.  These steps detail moving the entity classes and not the context.  The context can be moved in the same way, but I don't see a compelling reason to physically separate the context from my model. Turn off code generation for the template.  To do this set the Custom Tool property for the entity template file to an empty string (the entity template file will be named something like MyModel.tt). Expand the tree for the entity template file and delete all of its items.  These are the items that were automatically generated when you added the template. Create a project for your entities (if you haven't already). Add an existing item and browse to your entity template file, but add it as a link (do not add it directly).  Adding it as a link will allow the model and the template to stay in sync, but the code generation will occur in the new assembly.

  • How to do a "where in values" in LINQ-to-Entities

    - by Ty
Does anybody know how to apply a "where in values" type condition using LINQ-to-Entities? I've tried the following but it doesn't work: var values = new[] { "String1", "String2" }; // some string values var foo = model.entitySet.Where(e = values.Contains(e.Name)); I believe this works in LINQ-to-SQL though? Any thoughts?

  • Linq to Entities and outer joins issue

    - by Robert Koritnik
Can somebody tell me, why does Linq to Entities translate many to 1 relationships to left outer joins instead of inner joins? It relation was many to 0..1. There's referential constraint on DB itself, that ensures there's a record in the right table, so inner join should be used instead. Is it possible to write LINQ in a way so they will translate to inner joins rather than left outer joins. It would speed query execution a lot.

    I'm trying to create a query which uses a list of ids in the where clause, using the Silverlight ADO.Net Data Services client api (and therefore Linq To Entities). Does anyone know of a workaround to Contains not being supported? I want to do something like this: List<long?> txnIds = new List<long?>(); // Fill list var q = from t in svc.OpenTransaction where txnIds.Contains(t.OpenTransactionId) select t;
