  • Hoe to convert a JSON array of paths to images stored on a server into a javaScript array to display them? Using AJAX

    - by MichaelF
    I need for html file/ ajax code to take the JSON message and store the PATHS as a javaScript array. Then my buildImage function can display the first image in the array. I'm new to AJAX and believe my misunderstanding lies within the converting of the JSON to Javascript. I'm confused also about if my code creates a JSON array or object or either. I might need also to download a library to my app to understand JSON? Below is a PHP file loading the paths of the images. I believe json ecode is converting the PHP Array in a Json message. <?php include("mysqlconnect.php"); $select_query = "SELECT `ImagesPath` FROM `offerstbl` ORDER by `ImagesId` DESC"; $sql = mysql_query($select_query) or die(mysql_error()); $data = array(); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($sql,MYSQL_BOTH)){ $data[] = $row['ImagesPath']; } echo $images = json_encode($data); ?> Below is the script in is going to be loaded on an Cordova app. <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <link rel="stylesheet" href="css/styles.css"> <link rel="stylesheet" href="css/cascading.css"> <script> function importJson(str) { // console.log(typeof xmlhttp.responseText); if (str=="") { document.getElementById("content").innerHTML=""; return; } if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { // code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); } else { // code for IE6, IE5 xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=function() { if (xmlhttp.readyState==4) { //var images = JSON.parse(xmlhttp.responseText); document.getElementById("content").innerHTML=xmlhttp.responseText; } } xmlhttp.open("GET","http://server/content.php"); xmlhttp.send(); } function buildImage(src) { var img = document.createElement('img') img.src = src alert("1"); document.getElementById('content').appendChild(img); } for (var i = 0; i < images.length; i++) { buildImage(images[i]); } </script> </head> <body onload= "importJson();"> <div class="contents" id="content" ></div> <img src="img/logo.png" height="10px" width="10px" onload= "buildImage();"> </body>

  • Submitting form in php file accessed by Ajax?

    - by dronnoc
    Hi people, I am trying to figure out how to submit a form in a page being accessed by Ajax? here are some code snippets to help demonstrate what i am trying to say. HTML BODY - THIS IS WHAT THE USER WILL SEE. <html> <head> <script language="javascript" src="linktoajaxfile.js"> </head> <body onLoad="gotoPage(0)"> <div id="fillThis"> </div> </body> </html> AJAX FILE var xmlhttp function gotoPage(phase) { xmlhttp=GetXmlHttpObject(); if (xmlhttp==null) { alert ("Your browser does not support AJAX!"); return; } var url="pageofstuffce.php"; url=url+"?stg="+phase; url=url+"&sid="+Math.random(); xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=stateChanged; xmlhttp.open("GET",url,true); xmlhttp.send(null); } function stateChanged() { if (xmlhttp.readyState==4) { document.getElementById("fillThis").innerHTML=xmlhttp.responseText; } } function GetXmlHttpObject() { if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { // code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari return new XMLHttpRequest(); } if (window.ActiveXObject) { // code for IE6, IE5 return new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } return null; } PAGE OF DATA <?php $stage = $_GET['stg']; if($stage == 0) { echo '<a onClick="gotoPage(1)">click me</a>'; } elseif($stage == 1) { <form> <input type="text" name="name"> <input type="submit" name="submit"> </form> } elseif(somehow can reach here) { show data from form. } ?> Can anyone perhaps help me get past the form and display the data in the same page? Also, i have looked around, and i don't think anything around has what i need... correct me if i'm wrong though :) Thanks in advance, and i hope i didn't put in too much detail :) Dronnoc EDIT Forgot to mention what I've tried; I have tried submitting the form to itself (same file) and that destroyed the ajax link, and opened the page. i have also tried just having the button move the page onto another step, but the $_POST variable is empty... i am at a loss, so does anyone else have any ideas?

  • How to get final destination URL from AJAX?

    - by Maurice Lam
    When I do an XMLHttpRequest, I always get redirected automatically to the URL (presumably by the headers of the response). For example, if I query "http://www.stackoverflow.com" I will be redirected to "http://stackoverflow.com". How can I get that final URL? (http://stackoverflow.com/ in the example) I checked in the response headers but I cannot seem to find it. (I just used the GET/POST method not HEAD).

  • How to check for redirects on ajax calls?

    - by acidzombie24
    I was looking at this answer and some other answers http://stackoverflow.com/questions/199099/how-to-manage-a-redirect-request-after-a-jquery-ajax-call/199156#199156 I can not get this to work. i check the XMLHttpRequest object in both success and complete. In both cases when there is a redirect instead of getting a 302 i get a 200 and the html for that page. How do i make it actually report the 3xx redirect instead of skipping ahead and giving me a 200?

  • Litespeed enable Access-Control-Allow-Origin

    - by Joe Coder Guy
    Seriously, I can't find a single page discussing this for litespeed. Using this format in the htaccess "Header set Access-Control-Allow-Origin http://aSite.com" (and https) sends the setting in the header, but I still get the "XMLHttpRequest cannot load https://aSite.com/aFile.php. Origin aSite.com is not allowed by Access-Control-Allow-Origin" error. Is the server still blocking it even though I've sent the proper headers? I read elsewhere that it helps to add these terms Access-Control-Allow-Headers X-Requested-With Access-Control-Allow-Methods OPTIONS, GET, POST Access-Control-Allow-Headers Content-Type, Depth, User-Agent, X-File-Size, X-Requested-With, If-Modified-Since, X-File-Name, Cache-Control but I don't see these in my headers. Using these, my PHP files aren't even reached (because they register no errors or anything), so it looks like it comes from the server only, but what do I know. Thanks in advance!

  • December release of Microsoft All-In-One Code Framework is available now.

    - by Jialiang
    The code samples in Microsoft All-In-One Code Framework are updated on 2010-12-13. Download address: http://1code.codeplex.com/releases/view/57459#DownloadId=185534 Updated code sample index categorized by technologies: http://1code.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=All-In-One%20Code%20Framework%20Sample%20Catalog (it also allows you to download individual code samples instead of the entire All-In-One Code Framework sample package.) If it’s the first time that you hear about Microsoft All-In-One Code Framework, please watch the introduction video on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cO5Li3APU58, or read the introduction on our homepage http://1code.codeplex.com/,  and this Port25 article http://port25.technet.com/archive/2010/01/18/the-all-in-one-code-framework.aspx.  -------------- New ASP.NET Code Samples VBASPNETAJAXWebChat and CSASPNETAJAXWebChat Most of you have some experience in chatting with friends on the web. So you may want to know how to make a web chat application, it seems to be quite complicated. But ASP.NET gives you the power to buiild a chat room easily. In this code sample, we will construct our own web chat room with the amazing AJAX feature. The principle is simple relatively. As we all know, a base chat application need 4 base controls: one List control to show the chat room members, one List control to show the message list, one TextBox control to input messages and one button to send message. User inputs his message in the textbox first and then presses Send button, it will send the message to the server. The message list will update every 2 seconds to get the newest message list in the chat room from the server. We need to know, it is hard for us to make an AJAX web chat application like a windows form application because we cannot keep the connection after one web request ended. So a lot of events which communicates between client side and server side cannot be realized. The common workaround is to make web requests in every some seconds to check whether the server side has been updated. But another technique called COMET makes it possible. But it is different with AJAX and will not be talked in details in this KB. For more details about COMET, we can get some clues from the Reference.   CSASPNETCurrentOnlineUserList and VBASPNETCurrentOnlineUserList This sample demos a system that needs to display a list of current online users' information. As a matter of fact, Membership.GetNumberOfUsersOnline Method  can get the number of online users and there is a convenient approach to check whether the user is online by using Membership.GetUser(string userName).IsOnline property,however many asp.net projects are not using membership.So in this case,the sample shows how to display a list of current online users' information without using membership provider. It is not difficult to check whether the user is online by using session.Many projects tend to be used “Session_End” event to mark a user as “Offline”,however ,it may not be a good idea,because it can’t detect the user status accurately. In addition, "Session_End" event is only available in the "InProc" session mode. If you are storing session states in the State Server or SQL Server, "Session_End" event will never fire. To handle this issue, we need to save the user online status to a  global DataTable or  DataBase. In the sample application, define a global DataTable to store the information of online users.Use XmlHttpRequest in the pages to update and check user's last active time at intervals and also retrieve information on how many users are still online. The sample project can auto delete offline users' information from a global DataTable by checking users’ last active time. A step-by-step guide illustrating how to display a list of current online users' information without using membership provider: 1. Login page. Let user sign in and add current user’s information to a global datatable while Initialize the global datatable which used to store information of current online users. 2. Current online user list page. Use XmlHttpRequest in this page to update and check user's last active time at intervals and also retrieve information on how many users are still online. 3. If user closes the page without clicking  the sign out link button ,the sample project can auto mark the user as offline and delete offline users' information from a global DataTable which used to store information of current online users  by checking users’ last active time. Then the current online user list will be like this:   CSASPNETIPtoLocation This sample demonstrates how to find the geographical location from an IP address. As we know, it is not hard for us to get the IP address of visitors via Request.ServerVariable property, but it is really difficult for us to know where they come from. To achieve this feature, the sample uses a free third party web service from http://freegeoip.appspot.com/, which returns the information about an IP address we send to the server in the format of XML, JSON or CSV. It makes all things easier.   CSASPNETBackgroundWorker Sometimes we do an operation which needs long time to complete. It will stop the response and the page is blank until the operation finished. In this case, we want the operation to run in the background, and in the page, we want to display the progress of the running operation. Therefore, the user can know the operation is running and can know the progress. CSASPNETInheritingFromTreeNode In windows forms TreeView, each tree node has a property called "Tag" which can be used to store a custom object. Many customers want to implement the same tag feature in ASP.NET TreeView. This project creates a custom TreeView control named "CustomTreeView" to achieve this goal. CSASPNETRemoteUploadAndDownload and VBASPNETRemoteUploadAndDownload This code sample was created in response to a code sample request in our new code sample request frunction for customers. The code samples demonstrate uploading files to and downloading files from a remote HTTP or FTP server. In .NET Framework 2.0 and higher versions, there are some lightweight class libraries which support HTTP and FTP protocol transmission. By using these classes, we can achieve this programming requirement.   CSASPNETImageEditUpload and VBASPNETImageEditUpload This demo will shows how to insert, edit and update a common image with the type of "jpg", "png", "gif" or "bmp" . We mainly use two different SqlDataSources with the same database to bind to GridView and FormView in order to establish the “cascading” effort. Besides we apply our self-made ImageHanlder to encoding or decoding images of different types, and use context to output the stream of images. We will explicitly assign the binary streams of images through the event of “FormView_ItemInserting” or “Form_ItemUpdating” to synchronize the stream both in what we can see on an aspx page as well as in what’s really stored in the database.   WebBrowser Control, Network and other Windows General New Code Samples   CSWebBrowserSuppressError and VBWebBrowserSuppressError The sample demonstrates how to make WebBrowser suppress errors, such as script error, navigation error and so on.   CSWebBrowserWithProxy and VBWebBrowserWithProxy The sample demonstrates how to make WebBrowser use a proxy server.   CSWebDownloadProgress and VBWebDownloadProgress The sample demonstrates how to show progress during the download. It also supplies the features to Start, Pause, Resume and Cancel a download.   CppSetDesktopWallpaper, CSSetDesktopWallpaper and VBSetDesktopWallpaper This code sample application allows you select an image, view a preview (resized smaller to fit if necessary), select a display style among Tile, Center, Stretch, Fit (Windows 7 and later) and Fill (Windows 7 and later), and set the image as the Desktop wallpaper. CSWindowsServiceRecoveryProperty and VBWindowsServiceRecoveryProperty CSWindowsServiceRecoveryProperty example demonstrates how to use ChangeServiceConfig2 to configure the service "Recovery" properties in C#. This example operates all the options you can see on the service "Recovery" tab, including setting the "Enable actions for stops with errors" option in Windows Vista and later operating systems. This example also include how to grant the shut down privilege to the process, so that we can configure a special option in the "Recovery" tab - "Restart Computer Options...".   New Office Development Code Samples   CSOneNoteRibbonAddIn and VBOneNoteRibbonAddIn The code sample demonstrates a OneNote 2010 COM add-in that implements IDTExtensibility2. The add-in also supports customizing the Ribbon by implementing the IRibbonExtensibility interface. It is a skeleton OneNote add-in that developers can extend it to implement more functions. The code sample was requested by a customer in our code sample request service. We expect that this could help developers in the community.   New Windows Shell Code Samples   CppShellExtPreviewHandler, CSShellExtPreviewHandler and VBShellExtPreviewHandler In the past two months, we released the code samples of Windows Context Menu Handler, Infotip Handler, and Thumbnail Handler. This is the fourth part of the shell extension series: Preview Handler. The code samples demo the C++, C# and VB.NET implementation of a preview handler for a new file type registered with the .recipe extension. Preview handlers are called when an item is selected to show a lightweight, rich, read-only preview of the file's contents in the view's reading pane. This is done without launching the file's associated application. Windows Vista and later operating systems support preview handlers. To be a valid preview handler, several interfaces must be implemented. This includes IPreviewHandler (shobjidl.h); IInitializeWithFile, IInitializeWithStream, or IInitializeWithItem (propsys.h); IObjectWithSite (ocidl.h); and IOleWindow (oleidl.h). There are also optional interfaces, such as IPreviewHandlerVisuals (shobjidl.h), that a preview handler can implement to provide extended support. Windows API Code Pack for Microsoft .NET Framework makes the implementation of these interfaces very easy in .NET. The example preview handler provides previews for .recipe files. The .recipe file type is simply an XML file registered as a unique file name extension. It includes the title of the recipe, its author, difficulty, preparation time, cook time, nutrition information, comments, an embedded preview image, and so on. The preview handler extracts the title, comments, and the embedded image, and display them in a preview window.   In response to many customers' request, we added setup projects in every shell extension samples in this release. Those setup projects allow you to deploy the shell extensions to your end users' machines. ---------- Download address: http://1code.codeplex.com/releases/view/57459#DownloadId=185534 Updated code sample index categorized by technologies: http://1code.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=All-In-One%20Code%20Framework%20Sample%20Catalog (it also allows you to download individual code samples instead of the entire All-In-One Code Framework sample package.) • Ajax Control Toolkit May 2012 Release

    - by Stephen.Walther
    I’m happy to announce the May 2012 release of the Ajax Control Toolkit. This newest release of the Ajax Control Toolkit includes a new file upload control which displays file upload progress. We’ve also added several significant enhancements to the existing HtmlEditorExtender control such as support for uploading images and Source View. You can download and start using the newest version of the Ajax Control Toolkit by entering the following command in the Library Package Manager console in Visual Studio: Install-Package AjaxControlToolkit Alternatively, you can download the latest version of the Ajax Control Toolkit from CodePlex: http://AjaxControlToolkit.CodePlex.com The New Ajax File Upload Control The most requested new feature for the Ajax Control Toolkit (according to the CodePlex Issue Tracker) has been support for file upload with progress. We worked hard over the last few months to create an entirely new file upload control which displays upload progress. Here is a sample which illustrates how you can use the new AjaxFileUpload control: <%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="01_FileUpload.aspx.cs" Inherits="WebApplication1._01_FileUpload" %> <html> <head runat="server"> <title>Simple File Upload</title> </head> <body> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <div> <ajaxToolkit:ToolkitScriptManager runat="server" /> <ajaxToolkit:AjaxFileUpload id="ajaxUpload1" OnUploadComplete="ajaxUpload1_OnUploadComplete" runat="server" /> </div> </form> </body> </html> The page above includes a ToolkitScriptManager control. This control is required to use any of the controls in the Ajax Control Toolkit because this control is responsible for loading all of the scripts required by a control. The page also contains an AjaxFileUpload control. The UploadComplete event is handled in the code-behind for the page: namespace WebApplication1 { public partial class _01_FileUpload : System.Web.UI.Page { protected void ajaxUpload1_OnUploadComplete(object sender, AjaxControlToolkit.AjaxFileUploadEventArgs e) { // Generate file path string filePath = "~/Images/" + e.FileName; // Save upload file to the file system ajaxUpload1.SaveAs(MapPath(filePath)); } } } The UploadComplete handler saves each uploaded file by calling the AjaxFileUpload control’s SaveAs() method with a full file path. Here’s a video which illustrates the process of uploading a file: Warning: in order to write to the Images folder on a production IIS server, you need Write permissions on the Images folder. You need to provide permissions for the IIS Application Pool account to write to the Images folder. To learn more, see: http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/624/application-pool-identities/ Showing File Upload Progress The new AjaxFileUpload control takes advantage of HTML5 upload progress events (described in the XMLHttpRequest Level 2 standard). This standard is supported by Firefox 8+, Chrome 16+, Safari 5+, and Internet Explorer 10+. In other words, the standard is supported by the most recent versions of all browsers except for Internet Explorer which will support the standard with the release of Internet Explorer 10. The AjaxFileUpload control works with all browsers, even browsers which do not support the new XMLHttpRequest Level 2 standard. If you use the AjaxFileUpload control with a downlevel browser – such as Internet Explorer 9 — then you get a simple throbber image during a file upload instead of a progress indicator. Here’s how you specify a throbber image when declaring the AjaxFileUpload control: <%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="02_FileUpload.aspx.cs" Inherits="WebApplication1._02_FileUpload" %> <html> <head id="Head1" runat="server"> <title>File Upload with Throbber</title> </head> <body> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <div> <ajaxToolkit:ToolkitScriptManager ID="ToolkitScriptManager1" runat="server" /> <ajaxToolkit:AjaxFileUpload id="ajaxUpload1" OnUploadComplete="ajaxUpload1_OnUploadComplete" ThrobberID="MyThrobber" runat="server" /> <asp:Image id="MyThrobber" ImageUrl="ajax-loader.gif" Style="display:None" runat="server" /> </div> </form> </body> </html> Notice that the page above includes an image with the Id MyThrobber. This image is displayed while files are being uploaded. I use the website http://AjaxLoad.info to generate animated busy wait images. Drag-And-Drop File Upload If you are using an uplevel browser then you can drag-and-drop the files which you want to upload onto the AjaxFileUpload control. The following video illustrates how drag-and-drop works: Remember that drag-and-drop will not work on Internet Explorer 9 or older. Accepting Multiple Files By default, the AjaxFileUpload control enables you to upload multiple files at a time. When you open the file dialog, use the CTRL or SHIFT key to select multiple files. If you want to restrict the number of files that can be uploaded then use the MaximumNumberOfFiles property like this: <ajaxToolkit:AjaxFileUpload id="ajaxUpload1" OnUploadComplete="ajaxUpload1_OnUploadComplete" ThrobberID="throbber" MaximumNumberOfFiles="1" runat="server" /> In the code above, the maximum number of files which can be uploaded is restricted to a single file. Restricting Uploaded File Types You might want to allow only certain types of files to be uploaded. For example, you might want to accept only image uploads. In that case, you can use the AllowedFileTypes property to provide a list of allowed file types like this: <ajaxToolkit:AjaxFileUpload id="ajaxUpload1" OnUploadComplete="ajaxUpload1_OnUploadComplete" ThrobberID="throbber" AllowedFileTypes="jpg,jpeg,gif,png" runat="server" /> The code above prevents any files except jpeg, gif, and png files from being uploaded. Enhancements to the HTMLEditorExtender Over the past months, we spent a considerable amount of time making bug fixes and feature enhancements to the existing HtmlEditorExtender control. I want to focus on two of the most significant enhancements that we made to the control: support for Source View and support for uploading images. Adding Source View Support to the HtmlEditorExtender When you click the Source View tag, the HtmlEditorExtender changes modes and displays the HTML source of the contents contained in the TextBox being extended. You can use Source View to make fine-grain changes to HTML before submitting the HTML to the server. For reasons of backwards compatibility, the Source View tab is disabled by default. To enable Source View, you need to declare your HtmlEditorExtender with the DisplaySourceTab property like this: <%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="05_SourceView.aspx.cs" Inherits="WebApplication1._05_SourceView" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html> <head id="Head1" runat="server"> <title>HtmlEditorExtender with Source View</title> </head> <body> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <div> <ajaxToolkit:ToolkitScriptManager ID="ToolkitScriptManager1" runat="server" /> <asp:TextBox id="txtComments" TextMode="MultiLine" Columns="60" Rows="10" Runat="server" /> <ajaxToolkit:HtmlEditorExtender id="HEE1" TargetControlID="txtComments" DisplaySourceTab="true" runat="server" /> </div> </form> </body> </html> The page above includes a ToolkitScriptManager, TextBox, and HtmlEditorExtender control. The HtmlEditorExtender extends the TextBox so that it supports rich text editing. Notice that the HtmlEditorExtender includes a DisplaySourceTab property. This property causes a button to appear at the bottom of the HtmlEditorExtender which enables you to switch to Source View: Note: when using the HtmlEditorExtender, we recommend that you set the DOCTYPE for the document. Otherwise, you can encounter weird formatting issues. Accepting Image Uploads We also enhanced the HtmlEditorExtender to support image uploads (another very highly requested feature at CodePlex). The following video illustrates the experience of adding an image to the editor: Once again, for backwards compatibility reasons, support for image uploads is disabled by default. Here’s how you can declare the HtmlEditorExtender so that it supports image uploads: <ajaxToolkit:HtmlEditorExtender id="MyHtmlEditorExtender" TargetControlID="txtComments" OnImageUploadComplete="MyHtmlEditorExtender_ImageUploadComplete" DisplaySourceTab="true" runat="server" > <Toolbar> <ajaxToolkit:Bold /> <ajaxToolkit:Italic /> <ajaxToolkit:Underline /> <ajaxToolkit:InsertImage /> </Toolbar> </ajaxToolkit:HtmlEditorExtender> There are two things that you should notice about the code above. First, notice that an InsertImage toolbar button is added to the HtmlEditorExtender toolbar. This HtmlEditorExtender will render toolbar buttons for bold, italic, underline, and insert image. Second, notice that the HtmlEditorExtender includes an event handler for the ImageUploadComplete event. The code for this event handler is below: using System.Web.UI; using AjaxControlToolkit; namespace WebApplication1 { public partial class _06_ImageUpload : System.Web.UI.Page { protected void MyHtmlEditorExtender_ImageUploadComplete(object sender, AjaxFileUploadEventArgs e) { // Generate file path string filePath = "~/Images/" + e.FileName; // Save uploaded file to the file system var ajaxFileUpload = (AjaxFileUpload)sender; ajaxFileUpload.SaveAs(MapPath(filePath)); // Update client with saved image path e.PostedUrl = Page.ResolveUrl(filePath); } } } Within the ImageUploadComplete event handler, you need to do two things: 1) Save the uploaded image (for example, to the file system, a database, or Azure storage) 2) Provide the URL to the saved image so the image can be displayed within the HtmlEditorExtender In the code above, the uploaded image is saved to the ~/Images folder. The path of the saved image is returned to the client by setting the AjaxFileUploadEventArgs PostedUrl property. Not surprisingly, under the covers, the HtmlEditorExtender uses the AjaxFileUpload. You can get a direct reference to the AjaxFileUpload control used by an HtmlEditorExtender by using the following code: void Page_Load() { var ajaxFileUpload = MyHtmlEditorExtender.AjaxFileUpload; ajaxFileUpload.AllowedFileTypes = "jpg,jpeg"; } The code above illustrates how you can restrict the types of images that can be uploaded to the HtmlEditorExtender. This code prevents anything but jpeg images from being uploaded. Summary This was the most difficult release of the Ajax Control Toolkit to date. We iterated through several designs for the AjaxFileUpload control – with each iteration, the goal was to make the AjaxFileUpload control easier for developers to use. My hope is that we were able to create a control which Web Forms developers will find very intuitive. I want to thank the developers on the Superexpert.com team for their hard work on this release.

  • DELETE method not working in Apache 2.4

    - by Xavi
    I'm running Apache 2.4 locally and dealing with RESTful services authenticating through OAuth. GET, PUT and POST work fine but I can't get DELETE to work. I've tried installing WebDAV and mod_dav, overriding methods in .htaccess, tried Limits, force (enable) DELETE options in configuration and pretty much everything I've found in Google and StackExchange. Here's a copy of my .htaccess right now: <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> Header add Access-Control-Allow-Origin: * Header add Access-Control-Allow-Headers: Authorization Header add Access-Control-Allow-Headers: X-Requested-With Header add Access-Control-Request-Method: HEAD Header add Access-Control-Request-Method: GET Header add Access-Control-Request-Method: PUT Header add Access-Control-Request-Method: DELETE Header add Access-Control-Request-Method: OPTIONS Options +FollowSymlinks Options -Indexes RewriteEngine on RewriteRule ^(.*)\.* index.php [NC,L] </IfModule> Chrome's console shows: XMLHttpRequest cannot load http://dev.server.com/cars/favourite/. Method DELETE is not allowed by Access-Control-Allow-Methods. Is there anything I am missing?

  • Ajax Control Toolkit May 2012 Release

  • JSCompress fails to compress my js file - why?

    - by Renso
    Issue: You use the online compression utility jscompress.com to compress your js file but it fails with an error. Why this may be happening and how to fix it. Possible causes: Apparently not using open and closing curly brackets in an IF statement would cause this. Well turns out this is not the case. Look at the following example and see if you can figure out what the issue is :-)   function SetupDeliveredVPRecontactNotes($item, id) {     var theData;     $.ajax({         data: { deliveredVPId: id },         url: $('#ajaxGetDeliveredVPRecontactNotesUrl').val(),         type: "GET",         async: false,         dataType: "html",         success: function(data, result) {             $item.empty();             var input = '<textarea class="recontactNote" rows="4" name="DeliveredVPRecontactNotes_' + id + '" id="DeliveredVPRecontactNotes_' + id + '" cols="115">' + data + '</textarea>';             $item.append(input);             theData = data;         },         error: function(XMLHttpRequest, textStatus, errorThrown) {             $item.empty();             alert("An error occurred: The operation to retrieve the DeliveredVP's Recontact Notes has failed");         }     });                  //ajax     return theData; }     Solution: The name of the method/function is the same as the message in the ALERT message when the spaces are removed: " DeliveredVP Recontact Notes" becomes " DeliveredVPRecontactNotes" and mathes that of the function. So I changed it to " DeliveredVP's Recontact Notes"

  • Setting Up nginx Site Down That Responds Differently to Ajax?

    - by dave mankoff
    I am trying to set up an automatic site-down page for nginx. So far I have this: location / { try_files /sitedown.html @myapp; } location @myapp { ... } That works well enough: if sitedown.html is present, it serves that, otherwise it serves the app. What I'd like to do, however, is respond differently to Ajax requests so that they don't error out the javascript. I believe, using the rewrite module, that I can do something like if ($http_x_requested_with = XMLHttpRequest) { but it's unclear to me how to use this in order to do what I want. I'd like requests that come with that header to return a simple JSON response like "sitedown" with the appropriate json encoding header. Barring that, it would be nice to return a 503 response code that the javascript could react to.

  • Is there a simple, flat, XML-based query-able data storage solution? [closed]

    - by alex gray
    I have been in long pursuit of an XML-based query-able data store, and despite continued searches and evaluations, I have yet to find a solution that meets the my needs, which include: Data is wholly contained within XML nodes, in flat text files. There is a "native" - or at least unobtrusive - method with which to perform Create/Read/Update/Delete (CRUD) operations onto the "schema". I would consider access via http, XHR, javascript, PHP, BASH, or PERL to be unobtrusive, dependent on the complexity of the set of dependencies. Server-side file-system reads and writes. A client-side interface element, accessible in any browser without a plug-in. Some extra, preferred (but optional) requirements include: Respond to simple SQL, or similarly syntax queries. Serve the data on a bare bones https server, with no "extra stuff", either via XMLHTTPRequest, HTTP proper, or JSON. A few thoughts: What I'm looking for may be possible via some Java server implementations, but for the sake of this question, please do not suggest that - unless it meets ALL the requirements. Java, especially on the client-side is not really an option, nor is it appealing from a development viewpoint.* I know walking the filesystem is a stretch, and I've heard it's possible with XPATH or XSLT, but as far as I know, that's not ready for primetime, nor even yet a recommendation. However the ability to recursively traverse the filesystem is needed for such a system to be of useful facility. At this point, I have basically implemented what I described via, of all things, CGI and Bash, but there has to be an easier way. Thoughts?

  • Perl CGI that sends a temporary loading page to client then later sends the actual results page

    - by Kurt W. Leucht
    I've wasted at least a half day of my company's time searching the Internet for an answer and I'm getting wrapped around the axle here. I can't figure out the difference between all the different technology choices (long polling, ajax streaming, comet, XMPP, etc.) and I can't get a simple hello world example working on my PC. I am running Apache 2.2 and ActivePerl 5.10.0. JavaScript is completely acceptable for this solution. All I want to do is write a simple Perl CGI script that when accessed, it immediately returns some HTML that tells the user to wait or maybe sends an animated GIF. Then without any user intervention (no mouse clicks or anything) I want the CGI script to at some time later replace the wait message or the animated GIF with the actual HTML results from their query. I know this is simple stuff and websites do it all the time, but I can't find a single working example that I can cut and paste onto my machine that will work. Here is my simple Hello World example that I've compiled from various Internet sources, but it doesn't seem to work. When I refresh this CGI URL in my web browser it prints nothing for 5 seconds, then it prints the PLEASE BE PATIENT web page, but not the results web page. What am I doing wrong? #!C:\Perl\bin\perl.exe use CGI; use CGI::Carp qw/fatalsToBrowser warningsToBrowser/; sub Create_HTML { my $html = <<EOHTML; <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="pragma" content="no-cache" /> <meta http-equiv="expires" content="-1" /> <script type="text/javascript" > var xmlhttp=false; /*@cc_on @*/ /*@if (@_jscript_version >= 5) // JScript gives us Conditional compilation, we can cope with old IE versions. // and security blocked creation of the objects. try { xmlhttp = new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP"); } catch (e) { try { xmlhttp = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } catch (E) { xmlhttp = false; } } @end @*/ if (!xmlhttp && typeof XMLHttpRequest!='undefined') { try { xmlhttp = new XMLHttpRequest(); } catch (e) { xmlhttp=false; } } if (!xmlhttp && window.createRequest) { try { xmlhttp = window.createRequest(); } catch (e) { xmlhttp=false; } } </script> <title>Ajax Streaming Connection Demo</title> </head> <body> Some header text. <p> <div id="response">PLEASE BE PATIENT</div> <p> Some footer text. </body> </html> EOHTML return $html; } my $cgi = new CGI; print $cgi->header; print Create_HTML(); sleep(5); print "<script type=\"text/javascript\">\n"; print "\$('response').innerHTML = 'Here are your results!';\n"; print "</script>\n";

  • jQuery DatePicker - 'fake' click on page load

    - by Danny
    Hey! I've got a quick question about the jQuery UI DatePicker. When I load the page, defaultDate: 0 will work fine with selecting the current day's date. I would like to create a 'fake' click on the date so it will execute my JavaScript function and retrieve information from the database. I tried calling the function when the page loads but that doesn't work. $(document).ready(function(){ $("#datepicker").datepicker({ gotoCurrent: false, onSelect: function(date, inst) { ajaxFunction(date); }, dateFormat: 'dd-mm-yy', defaultDate: 0, changeMonth: true, changeYear: true }); }); //Browser Support Code function ajaxFunction(date){ var ajaxRequest; // The variable that makes Ajax possible! try{ // Opera 8.0+, Firefox, Safari ajaxRequest = new XMLHttpRequest(); } catch (e){ // Internet Explorer Browsers try{ ajaxRequest = new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP"); } catch (e) { try{ ajaxRequest = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } catch (e){ // Something went wrong alert("Your browser broke!"); return false; } } } // Create a function that will receive data sent from the server ajaxRequest.onreadystatechange = function(){ if(ajaxRequest.readyState == 4){ var ajaxDisplay = document.getElementById('ajaxDiv'); ajaxDisplay.innerHTML = ajaxRequest.responseText; } } var queryString = "?date=" + date; ajaxRequest.open("GET", "getDiary.php" + queryString, true); ajaxRequest.send(null); } function ajaxAdd(){ var ajaxRequest; // The variable that makes Ajax possible! try{ // Opera 8.0+, Firefox, Safari ajaxRequest = new XMLHttpRequest(); } catch (e){ // Internet Explorer Browsers try{ ajaxRequest = new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP"); } catch (e) { try{ ajaxRequest = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } catch (e){ // Something went wrong alert("Your browser broke!"); return false; } } } var day1 = $("#datepicker").datepicker('getDate').getDate(); var day2 = (day1 < 10) ? '0' + day1 : day1; var month1 = $("#datepicker").datepicker('getDate').getMonth() + 1; var month2 = (month1 < 10) ? '0' + month1 : month1; var year1 = $("#datepicker").datepicker('getDate').getFullYear(); var year2 = (year1 < 1000) ? year1 + 1900 : year1; var fullDate = day2 + "-" + month2 + "-" + year2; var queryString = "?breakfast=" + diary1.breakfast.value; queryString = queryString + "&lunch=" + diary1.lunch.value; queryString = queryString + "&dinner=" + diary1.dinner.value; queryString = queryString + "&date=" + fullDate; ajaxRequest.open("GET", "addDiary.php" + queryString, true); ajaxRequest.send(null); alert("Added value to database!"); diary1.breakfast.value = ""; diary1.lunch.value = ""; diary1.dinner.value = ""; ajaxFunction(fullDate); } I have pasted my DatePicker class, and the two functions that are used (one to retrieve information from the database, and one to store). Basically I want to mirror the onSelect: function on the DatePicker, but when the page first loads. Thanks!

  • jquery $.getJSON only works once in internet explorer Help Please!!!

    - by JasperS
    I have a php function which inserts a searchbar into each page on a website. The site checks to see if the user has javascript enabled and if they do it inserts some jquery ajax stuff to link select boxes (instead of using it's fallback onchange="form.submit()"). $.getJSON works perfectly for me in other browsers except in IE, if I do a full page refresh (ctrl+F5) in IE my ajax works flawlessly until I navigate to a new page (or the same page with $PHP_SELF) either by submiting the form or clicking a link the jquery onchange function fires but then jquery throws an error: Webpage error details Message: Object doesn't support this property or method Line: 123 Char: 183 Code: 0 URI: http://~#UNABLE~TO~DISCLOSE#~/jquery-1.4.2.min.js It seems like jquery function $.getJSON() is gone??? This seems to be some kind of caching issue as it happens on the second page load but I think i've go all the caching prevention in place anyways, here's a snipet of the code that ads the jquery functions: if (isset($_SESSION['NO_SCRIPT']) == true && $_SESSION['NO_SCRIPT'] == false) { $html .= '<script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8">'; $html .= '$.ajaxSetup({ cache: false });'; $html .= '$.ajaxSetup({"error":function(XMLHttpRequest,textStatus, errorThrown) { alert(textStatus); alert(errorThrown); alert(XMLHttpRequest.responseText); }});'; $html .= '</script>'; $html .= '<script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8">'; $html .= '$(function(){ $("select#searchtype").change(function() { '; $html .= 'alert("change fired!"); '; $html .= '$.getJSON("ajaxgetcategories.php", {id: $(this).val()}, function(j) { '; $html .= 'alert("ajax returned!"); '; $html .= 'var options = \'\'; '; $html .= 'options += \'<option value="0" >--\' + j[0].all + \'--</option>\'; '; $html .= 'for (var i = 0; i < j.length; i++) { options += \'<option value="\' + j[i].id + \'">\' + j[i].name + \'</option>\'; } '; $html .= '$("select#searchcategory").html(options); }) }) }) '; $html .= '</script> '; $html .= '<script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"> '; $html .= '$(function(){ $("select#searchregion").change(function() { '; $html .= 'alert("change fired!"); '; $html .= '$.getJSON("ajaxgetcountries.php", {id: $(this).val()}, function(j) { '; $html .= 'alert("ajax returned!"); '; $html .= 'var options = \'\'; '; $html .= 'options += \'<option value="0" >--\' + j[0].all + \'--</option>\'; '; $html .= 'for (var i = 0; i < j.length; i++) { options += \'<option value="\' + j[i].id + \'">\' + j[i].name + \'</option>\'; } '; $html .= '$("select#searchcountry").html(options); }) }) }) '; $html .= '</script> '; }; return $html; remember, this is part of a php funtion that inserts a script into the html and sorry if it looks a bit messy, I'm new to PHP and Javascript and I'm a bit untidy too :) Please also remember that this works perfectly in IE on the first visit but after any navigation I get the error. Thanks guys

  • How to echo if field is not found?

    - by Fahad
    Hi I'm trying to figure out how to echo back if the value entered does not match when a database lookup is done. I'm using ajax to run the request and php to do the lookup ajax.js: function showResult(str) { if (str=="") { document.getElementById("description").innerHTML=""; return; } if (window.XMLHttpRequest) {// code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); } else {// code for IE6, IE5 xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=function() { if (xmlhttp.readyState==4 && xmlhttp.status==200) { document.getElementById("description").innerHTML=xmlhttp.responseText; } } xmlhttp.open("GET","getuser.php?voucher="+str,true); xmlhttp.send(null); } and getuser.php: <?php $q=$_GET["voucher"]; $con = mysql_connect('localhost', 'root', ''); if (!$con) { die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); } mysql_select_db("test", $con); $sql="SELECT * FROM redemption WHERE voucher = '".$q."'"; $result = mysql_query($sql); echo "<table> <tr> <th>Name</th> <th>Product</th> <th>Address</th> <th>Status</th> </tr>"; while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { echo "<tr>"; echo "<td>" . $row['name'] . "</td>"; echo "<td>" . $row['product'] . "</td>"; echo "<td>" . $row['address'] ." ".$row['city'] ." ".$row['province'] ." ".$row['postal'] . "</td>"; echo "<td>" . $row['status'] . "</td>"; echo "</tr>"; } echo "</table>"; mysql_close($con); ?> What I would like to do is that once the person enters an invalid or a voucher number that is not found I would like to return an error that "Voucher number is not found". There is also a column in the db that stores the status such as "redeemed" or "not redeemed". How could I check for both whether the voucher number exists and if it has already been redeemed? I assume it'd have to be a syntax such as $sql="SELECT * FROM redemption WHERE voucher = '".$q."'" AND status = 'not redeemed' and then use an else or case statement perhaps? Thanks in advance

  • JavaScript and XML Dom - Nested Loop

    - by BSteck
    So I'm a beginner in XML DOM and JavaScript but I've run into an issue. I'm using the script to display my XML data in a table on an existing site. The problem comes in nesting a loop in my JavaScript code. Here is my XML: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <book_list> <author> <first_name>Mary</first_name> <last_name>Abbott Hess</last_name> <books> <title>The Healthy Gourmet Cookbook</title> </books> </author> <author> <first_name>Beverly</first_name> <last_name>Bare Bueher</last_name> <books> <title>Cary Grant: A Bio-Bibliography</title> <title>Japanese Films</title> </books> </author> <author> <first_name>James P.</first_name> <last_name>Bateman</last_name> <books> <title>Illinois Land Use Law</title> </books> </author> </book_list> I then use this JavaScript code to read and display the data: > <script type="text/javascript"> if > (window.XMLHttpRequest) { > xhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); } else > // Internet Explorer 5/6 { > xhttp=new > ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); > } xhttp.open("GET","books.xml",false); > xhttp.send(""); > xmlDoc=xhttp.responseXML; > > document.write("<table>"); var > x=xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName("author"); > for (i=0;i<x.length;i++) { > document.write("<tr><td>"); > document.write(x[i].getElementsByTagName("first_name")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue); > document.write("&nbsp;"); > document.write(x[i].getElementsByTagName("last_name")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue); > document.write("</td><td>"); > document.write(x[i].getElementsByTagName("title")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue); > document.write("</td></tr>"); } > document.write("</table>"); </script> The code works well except it only returns the first title element of each author. I somewhat understand why it's doing that, but I don't know how to nest another loop so when the script runs it displays all the titles for an author, not just the first. Whenever I try to nest a loop it breaks the entire script.

  • Why wont this JS code work if its all on the same line?

    - by culov
    I'm writing HTML code for a java servlet. i first write the code in html/js so i can debug what im working on, and then ill make it a java string and put it in my servlet. My problem is that the code is working fine when i view it in ff from a local html file, but when i view it on my java servlet, it doesnt work because the js isnt getting called. what I did was format the html that my servlet generated so that its not all on a single line and ran the code again. This time it worked. I copied this working code into a browser address bar so that it will all be on a single line, and copied that code back into the script in my html file. Now, when the previously working code is on a single line, it doesnt work. Here's the formatted JS: var sMax var holder; var preSet; var rated; var request; function rating(num){ sMax = 0; for(n=0; n<num.parentNode.childNodes.length; n++){ if(num.parentNode.childNodes[n].nodeName == "A"){ sMax++; } } if(!rated){ s = num.id.replace("_", ''); a = 0; for(i=1; i<=sMax; i++){ if(i<=s){ document.getElementById("_"+i).className = "on"; document.getElementById("rateStatus").innerHTML = num.title; holder = a+1; a++; }else{ document.getElementById("_"+i).className = ""; } } } } function off(me){ if(!rated){ if(!preSet){ for(i=1; i<=sMax; i++){ document.getElementById("_"+i).className = ""; document.getElementById("rateStatus").innerHTML = me.parentNode.title; } }else{ rating(preSet); document.getElementById("rateStatus").innerHTML = document.getElementById("ratingSaved").innerHTML; } } } function rateIt(me){ if(!rated){ document.getElementById("rateStatus").innerHTML = document.getElementById("ratingSaved").innerHTML + " "+me.title; preSet = me; rated=1; sendRate(me); rating(me); } } function sendRate(sel){ alert("Your rating was: "+sel.title); addRating("rating", "?truck=kogibbq?rating="+ sel.id); } function addRating(servletName, servletArguments){ var servlet = servletName; var arg = servletArguments var req = servlet + arg; alert(req); addrequest(req); request.onreadystatechange = function(){ alert("response received"); } } function addrequest(req) { try { request = new XMLHttpRequest(); }catch (e) { try { request = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); }catch (e) { alert("XMLHttpRequest error: " + e); } } request.open("GET", element, true); request.send(null); return request; } Thanks.

  • Ajax loaded content , jquery plugins not working

    Hello, I have a link that calls the ajax to load content, and after the content is loaded, my jquery function doesn't work anymore Here is my HTML <a href="#" onclick="javascript:makeRequest('content.html','');">Load Content</a> <span id="result"> <table id="myTable" valign="top" class="tablesorter"> <thead> <tr> <th>Title 1</th> <th>Level 1</th> <th>Topics</th> <th>Resources</th> </tr> </thead> <tbody> <tr> <td>Example title 1</td> <td>Example level 1</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Example title 2</td> <td>Example level 2</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> </span> The table is sorted using jquery table sorter plugin from http://tablesorter.com/docs/ After the ajax content is loaded, another set of table with different data will be displayed. However, the sorting doesn't work anymore. Here is my ajax script which is use to load the content : var http_request = false; function makeRequest(url, parameters) { http_request = false; if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { // Mozilla, Safari,... http_request = new XMLHttpRequest(); if (http_request.overrideMimeType) { // set type accordingly to anticipated content type //http_request.overrideMimeType('text/xml'); http_request.overrideMimeType('text/html'); } } else if (window.ActiveXObject) { // IE try { http_request = new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP"); } catch (e) { try { http_request = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } catch (e) {} } } if (!http_request) { alert('Cannot create XMLHTTP instance'); return false; } http_request.onreadystatechange = alertContents; http_request.open('GET', url + parameters, true); http_request.send(null); } function alertContents() { if (http_request.readyState == 4) { // alert(http_request.status); if (http_request.status == 200) { //alert(http_request.responseText); result = http_request.responseText; document.getElementById('result').innerHTML = result; } else { alert('There was a problem with the request.'); } } } Any idea how I can get the jquery plugins to work after the content is loaded? I have searched and changed the jquery.tablesorter.js click function into live() like this $headers.live("click",function(e) but it doesn't work as well. How can I make the jquery functions to work after the content is loaded? Thank you

  • Javascript works great locally, but not on my server

    - by Jonathan Cohen
    I'm teaching myself javascript by creating a script for displaying an external rss feed on a webpage. The code I patched together works great locally. This is a screen grab of the code producing exactly the desired behavior. The code is populating all the information inside the section "Blog: Shades of Gray", except for "tagged" which I hard coded: But when I upload the site files to my server, the code doesn't work at all. This is a screen grab of the code on my site NOT producing the desired behavior... This feels like I'm not getting something really basic about how javascript works locally vs. on the server. I did my half hour of googling for an answer and no trails look promising. So I'd really appreciate your help. This is my site (under construction) http://jonathangcohen.com Below is the code, which can also be found at http://jonathangcohen.com/grabFeeds.js. /*Javascript for Displaying an External RSS Feed on a Webpage Wrote some code that’ll grab attributes from an rss feed and assign IDs for displaying on a webpage. The code references my Tumblr blog but it’ll extend to any RSS feed.*/ window.onload = writeRSS; function writeRSS(){ writeBlog(); } function writeBlog(){ if (window.XMLHttpRequest) {// code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); } else {// code for IE6, IE5 xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } xmlhttp.open("GET","http://blog.jonathangcohen.com/rss.xml",false); xmlhttp.send(); xmlDoc=xmlhttp.responseXML; var x=xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName("item"); //append category to link for (i=0;i<3;i++) { if (i == 0){ //print category var blogTumblrCategory = x[i].getElementsByTagName("category")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue document.getElementById("getBlogCategory1").innerHTML = '<a class="BlogTitleLinkStyle" href="http://blog.jonathangcohen.com/tagged/'+blogTumblrCategory+'">'+blogTumblrCategory+'</a>'; //print date var k = x[i].getElementsByTagName("pubDate")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue thisDate = new Date(); thisDate = formatTumblrDate(k); document.getElementById("getBlogPublishDate1").innerHTML = thisDate; //print title var blogTumblrTitle = x[i].getElementsByTagName("title")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue var blogTumblrLink = x[i].getElementsByTagName("link")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue document.getElementById("getBlogTitle1").innerHTML = '<a class="BlogTitleLinkStyle" href="'+blogTumblrLink+'">'+blogTumblrTitle+'</a>'; } if (i == 1){ //print category var blogTumblrCategory = x[i].getElementsByTagName("category")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue document.getElementById("getBlogCategory2").innerHTML = '<a class="BlogTitleLinkStyle" href="http://blog.jonathangcohen.com/tagged/'+blogTumblrCategory+'">'+blogTumblrCategory+'</a>'; //print date var k = x[i].getElementsByTagName("pubDate")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue thisDate = new Date(); thisDate = formatTumblrDate(k); document.getElementById("getBlogPublishDate2").innerHTML = thisDate; //print title var blogTumblrTitle = x[i].getElementsByTagName("title")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue var blogTumblrLink = x[i].getElementsByTagName("link")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue document.getElementById("getBlogTitle2").innerHTML = '<a class="BlogTitleLinkStyle" href="'+blogTumblrLink+'">'+blogTumblrTitle+'</a>'; } if (i == 2){ //print category var blogTumblrCategory = x[i].getElementsByTagName("category")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue document.getElementById("getBlogCategory3").innerHTML = '<a class="BlogTitleLinkStyle" href="http://blog.jonathangcohen.com/tagged/'+blogTumblrCategory+'">'+blogTumblrCategory+'</a>'; //print date var k = x[i].getElementsByTagName("pubDate")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue thisDate = new Date(); thisDate = formatTumblrDate(k); document.getElementById("getBlogPublishDate3").innerHTML = thisDate; //print title var blogTumblrTitle = x[i].getElementsByTagName("title")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue var blogTumblrLink = x[i].getElementsByTagName("link")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue document.getElementById("getBlogTitle3").innerHTML = '<a class="BlogTitleLinkStyle" href="'+blogTumblrLink+'">'+blogTumblrTitle+'</a>'; } } } function formatTumblrDate(k){ d = new Date(k); var curr_date = d.getDate(); var curr_month = d.getMonth(); curr_month++; var curr_year = d.getFullYear(); printDate = (curr_month + "/" + curr_date + "/" + curr_year); return printDate; } Thank you!

  • Ajax and using responseXML

    - by Banderdash
    Hello, I have a XML file that looks like this: <response> <library name="My Library"> <book id="1" checked-out="1"> <authors> <author>David Flanagan</author> </authors> <title>JavaScript: The Definitive Guide</title> <isbn-10>0596101996</isbn-10> </book> <book id="2" checked-out="1"> <authors> <author>John Resig</author> </authors> <title>Pro JavaScript Techniques (Pro)</title> <isbn-10>1590597273</isbn-10> </book> <book id="3" checked-out="0"> <authors> <author>Erich Gamma</author> <author>Richard Helm</author> <author>Ralph Johnson</author> <author>John M. Vlissides</author> </authors> <title>Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software</title> <isbn-10>0201633612</isbn-10> </book> ... </library> </response> I'm using a simple JS script to, on click show all the titles of the books: <script type="text/javascript"> function loadXMLDoc() { if (window.XMLHttpRequest) {// code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); } else {// code for IE6, IE5 xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=function() { if (xmlhttp.readyState==4 && xmlhttp.status==200) { xmlDoc=xmlhttp.responseXML; var txt=""; x=xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName("title"); for (i=0;i<x.length;i++) { txt=txt + x[i].childNodes[0].nodeValue + "<br />"; } document.getElementById("checkedIn").innerHTML=txt; } } xmlhttp.open("GET","ajax-response-data.xml",true); xmlhttp.send(); } </script> This works fine, as you can see here: http://clients.pixelbleed.net/ajax-test/ What I'd like to do is have the results post, on page load (not on click) into two separate DIV's depending on checked-out variable in the XML. So <book id="#" checked-out="1"> would post to the checkedIn div, <book id="#" checked-out="0"> posts to a checkedOut div. Also want to display the title and the author--would love any ideas as best method for accomplishing this. Apologize in advanced for the newbieness of my query.

  • Proxy Issues with Javascript Cross Domain RSS Feed Parsing

    - by Amir
    This is my Javascript function which grabs an rss feed via the proxy script and then spits out the 5 latest rss items from the feed along with a link to my stylesheet: function getWidget (feed,limit) { if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { xhttp=new XMLHttpRequest() } else { xhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP") } xhttp.open("GET","http://MYSITE/proxy.php?url="+feed,false); xhttp.send(""); xmlDoc=xhttp.responseXML; var x = 1; var div = document.getElementById("div"); srdiv.innerHTML = '<link type="text/css" href="http://MYSITE/css/widget.css" rel="stylesheet" /><div id="rss-title"></div></h3><div id="items"></div><br /><br /><a href="http://MYSITE">Powered by MYSITE</a>'; document.body.appendChild(div); content=xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName("title"); thelink=xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName("link"); document.getElementByTagName("rss-title").innerHTML += content[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue; for (x=1;x<=limit;srx++) { y=x; y--; var shout = '<div class="item"><a href="'+thelink[y].childNodes[0].nodeValue+'">'+content[x].childNodes[0].nodeValue+'</a></div>'; document.getElementById("items").innerHTML += shout; } } Here is the the code from proxy.php: $session = curl_init($_GET['url']); // Open the Curl session curl_setopt($session, CURLOPT_HEADER, false); // Don't return HTTP headers curl_setopt($session, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true); // Do return the contents of the call $xml = curl_exec($session); // Make the call header("Content-Type: text/xml"); // Set the content type appropriately echo $xml; // Spit out the xml curl_close($session); // And close the session Now when I try to load this on any domain that's not my site nothing loads. I get no JS errors, but I in the Console tab in firebug I get "407 Proxy Authentication Required" So I'm not really sure how to make this work. The goal is to be able to grab the RSS feed, parse it to grab the titles and links and spit it out into some HTML on any website on the web. I"m basically making a simple RSS widget for my site's various RSS feeds. My Javascript is wack Also, I'm really a beginner with Javascript. I know jQuery pretty well, but I wasn't able to use it in this case, because this script will be embeded on any site and I can't really rely on the jQuery library. So I was decided to write some basic Javascript relying on the default XML parsing options available. Any suggestions here would be cool. Thanks! What's with the x and y They way my site creates RSS feeds is that the first title is actually the RSS feed title. The second title is the title of the first item. The first link is the link to the first item. So when using the javascript to get the title, I had to first grab the first title (which is the RSS title) and then start with the second title that being the first title of the item. Sorry for the confusion, but I don't think this is related to my issue. Just wanted to clarify my code.
