  • I am looking for a script where users can create groups cms/social interaction site

    - by Paul
I am trying to find a Content Mangement/social interaction script that requires a person to be a part of a group. Specifically: My daughter is a cheerleader and there are a number of cheer groups she is involved in and also has friends in many others. A lot of them could use some kind of website where they can share information between their team members and coach. The coach being the controller of the group and who can join etc. "Group Leader"? One can only join the group if invited or given a password or some such security. There would be multipel groups or in this case multiple cheer squads who were registered as groups and the cheerleaders a part of their group. The coach or group leader would have control of the group calender and they may have their own calendars and be messaging between them and/or other social interactions. IN a perfect world they could modify their own pages individualy. Communication could go globally or only to the group and a "friends or buddy" system. I think you get the idea. I really like OCportal and what it does and can do but it does not have the group funcitionality I am looking for. Perhaps I am just going to need to see about getting aprogrammer to write an add on for me if ther is nothing like this out there. But if you know of any I would appreciate being pointed in that direction.

  • dpkg unsatisfied dependencies, now apt-get wants to remove whole system

    - by Bruno Finger
firstly, I'm sorry for my terminal output in portuguese, but I guess it is still understandable. I am using Ubuntu GNOME 14.04 and I tried to update the GNOME Online Accounts packages by downloading the following .deb files from packages.ubuntu.com for the Ubuntu 14.10 version: libgoa-backend-1.0-dev_3.12.4-1_amd64.deb libgoa-backend-1.0-1_3.12.4-1_amd64.deb libgoa-1.0-dev_3.12.4-1_amd64.deb libgoa-1.0-0b_3.12.4-1_amd64.deb gnome-online-accounts_3.12.4-1_amd64.deb gir1.2-goa-1.0_3.12.4-1_amd64.deb After downloading them in the same folder, I run the command sudo dpkg -i *.deb, but it didn't install the packages, instead it showed errors due to packages which them depend doesn't meet the required version (and Ubuntu have no way to install them since they are not in this version's repositories). So now every time I want to install anything through apt-get, Ubuntu tells me to run apt-get -f install to fix the errors. This is the list of packages it needs to install/uninstall/update: $ sudo apt-get -f install Lendo listas de pacotes... Pronto Construindo árvore de dependências Lendo informação de estado... • New security configuration flag in UCM PS3

    - by kyle.hatlestad
While the recent Patch Set 3 (PS3) release was mostly focused on bug fixes and such, a new configuration flag was added for security. In 10gR3 and prior versions, UCM had a component called Collaboration Manager which allowed for project folders to be created and groups of users assigned as members to collaborate on documents. With this component came access control lists (ACL) for content and folders. Users could assign specific security rights on each and every document and folder within a project. And it was possible to enable these ACL's without having the Collaboration Manager component enabled. But it took some special instructions (see technote# 603148.1) and added some extraneous pieces still related to Collaboration Manager. When 11g came out, Collaboration Manager was no longer available. But the configuration settings to turn on ACLs were still there. Well, in PS3 they've been cleaned up a bit and a new configuration flag has been added to simply turn on the ACL fields and none of the other collaboration bits. To enable ACLs: UseEntitySecurity=true Along with this configuration flag to turn ACLs on, you also need to define which Security Groups will honor the ACL fields. If an ACL is applied to a content item with a Security Group outside this list, it will be ignored. SpecialAuthGroups=HumanResources,Legal,Marketing Save the settings and restart the instance. Upon restart, two new metadata fields will be created: xClbraUserList, xClbraAliasList. If you are using OracleTextSearch as the search indexer, be sure to run a Fast Rebuild on the collection. On the Check In, Search, and Update pages, values are added by simply typing in the value and getting a type-ahead list of possible values. Select the value, click Add and then set the level of access (Read, Write, Delete, or Admin). If all of the fields are blank, then it simply falls back to just Security Group and Account access. As for how they are stored in the metadata fields, each entry starts with it's identifier: ampersand (&) symbol for users, "at" (@) symbol for groups, and colon (:) for roles. Following that is the entity name. And at the end is the level of access in paranthesis. e.g. (RWDA). And each entry is separated by a comma. So if you were populating values through batch loader or an external source, the values would be defined this way. Detailed information on Access Control Lists can be found in the Oracle Fusion Middleware System Administrator's Guide for Oracle Content Server.

  • Ask the Readers: How Do You Deal with Bacn?

    - by Jason Fitzpatrick
Most people get their fair share of email they want, email they don’t want at all (Spam), and a healthy dose of Bacn–email they want but not right now. How do you deal with your daily dose of Bacn? While Spam is unsolicited garbage you don’t ever want, Bacn is email content you’ve actively selected to receive (weather updates, coupons from your favorite retailers, web site digests, etc.) that isn’t as important as email from friends and coworkers. It’s email that you want but not right now. This week we want to hear all about your methods for wrangling Bacn so you can enjoy it when you’re in the mood but it doesn’t clutter up your inbox when you aren’t. Sound off in the comments with your Bacn handling tips and then check back in on Friday for the What You Said roundup to see how your fellow readers handle things. • Managing user privileges, best practices [on hold]

    - by Loïc N.
I'm am new to web development. I'm creating a website where different user can have different privileges, such as creating/editing/deleting a news, or adding/editing/deleting whatever kind of content on the website. I started by creating a "user type" that would indicate the user's privileges (such as "user", "newser", "moderator", "admin", and so on), but I quickly started noticing issues that made me think that this might be a naive approach to this issue. What if I want to give a regular user the right to edit a news (for whatever reason)? Then the user would be half "user", half "newser". But the system I use can only handle one user-type. So what would be the best practice here? I was thinking of removing the concept of roles (or "user-types" such as newser) and only have the concept of "privilege", where every user could have zero to many privileges. So, to re-use the above example, if I wanted a user to have the right to edit some news, I would only have to give him a "edit news" privilege. Is this the way to go?

  • TFS API Change WorkItem CreatedDate And ChangedDate To Historic Dates

    - by Tarun Arora
There may be times when you need to modify the value of the fields “System.CreatedDate” and “System.ChangedDate” on a work item. Richard Hundhausen has a great blog with ample of reason why or why not you should need to set the values of these fields to historic dates. In this blog post I’ll show you, Create a PBI WorkItem linked to a Task work item by pre-setting the value of the field ‘System.ChangedDate’ to a historic date Change the value of the field ‘System.Created’ to a historic date Simulate the historic burn down of a task type work item in a sprint Explain the impact of updating values of the fields CreatedDate and ChangedDate on the Sprint burn down chart Rules of Play      1. You need to be a member of the Project Collection Service Accounts              2. You need to use ‘WorkItemStoreFlags.BypassRules’ when you instantiate the WorkItemStore service // Instanciate Work Item Store with the ByPassRules flag _wis = new WorkItemStore(_tfs, WorkItemStoreFlags.BypassRules);      3. You cannot set the ChangedDate         - Less than the changed date of previous revision         - Greater than current date Walkthrough The walkthrough contains 5 parts 00 – Required References 01 – Connect to TFS Programmatically 02 – Create a Work Item Programmatically 03 – Set the values of fields ‘System.ChangedDate’ and ‘System.CreatedDate’ to historic dates 04 – Results of our experiment Lets get started………………………………………………… 00 – Required References Microsoft.TeamFoundation.dll Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Client.dll Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Common.dll Microsoft.TeamFoundation.WorkItemTracking.Client.dll 01 – Connect to TFS Programmatically I have a in depth blog post on how to connect to TFS programmatically in case you are interested. However, the code snippet below will enable you to connect to TFS using the Team Project Picker. // Services I need access to globally private static TfsTeamProjectCollection _tfs; private static ProjectInfo _selectedTeamProject; private static WorkItemStore _wis; // Connect to TFS Using Team Project Picker public static bool ConnectToTfs() { var isSelected = false; // The user is allowed to select only one project var tfsPp = new TeamProjectPicker(TeamProjectPickerMode.SingleProject, false); tfsPp.ShowDialog(); // The TFS project collection _tfs = tfsPp.SelectedTeamProjectCollection; if (tfsPp.SelectedProjects.Any()) { // The selected Team Project _selectedTeamProject = tfsPp.SelectedProjects[0]; isSelected = true; } return isSelected; } 02 – Create a Work Item Programmatically In the below code snippet I have create a Product Backlog Item and a Task type work item and then link them together as parent and child. Note – You will have to set the ChangedDate to a historic date when you created the work item. Remember, If you try and set the ChangedDate to a value earlier than last assigned you will receive the following exception… TF26212: Team Foundation Server could not save your changes. There may be problems with the work item type definition. Try again or contact your Team Foundation Server administrator. If you notice below I have added a few seconds each time I have modified the ‘ChangedDate’ just to avoid running into the exception listed above. // Create Linked Work Items and return Ids private static List<int> CreateWorkItemsProgrammatically() { // Instantiate Work Item Store with the ByPassRules flag _wis = new WorkItemStore(_tfs, WorkItemStoreFlags.BypassRules); // List of work items to return var listOfWorkItems = new List<int>(); // Create a new Product Backlog Item var p = new WorkItem(_wis.Projects[_selectedTeamProject.Name].WorkItemTypes["Product Backlog Item"]); p.Title = "This is a new PBI"; p.Description = "Description"; p.IterationPath = string.Format("{0}\\Release 1\\Sprint 1", _selectedTeamProject.Name); p.AreaPath = _selectedTeamProject.Name; p["Effort"] = 10; // Just double checking that ByPassRules is set to true if (_wis.BypassRules) { p.Fields["System.ChangedDate"].Value = Convert.ToDateTime("2012-01-01"); } if (p.Validate().Count == 0) { p.Save(); listOfWorkItems.Add(p.Id); } else { Console.WriteLine(">> Following exception(s) encountered during work item save: "); foreach (var e in p.Validate()) { Console.WriteLine(" - '{0}' ", e); } } var t = new WorkItem(_wis.Projects[_selectedTeamProject.Name].WorkItemTypes["Task"]); t.Title = "This is a task"; t.Description = "Task Description"; t.IterationPath = string.Format("{0}\\Release 1\\Sprint 1", _selectedTeamProject.Name); t.AreaPath = _selectedTeamProject.Name; t["Remaining Work"] = 10; if (_wis.BypassRules) { t.Fields["System.ChangedDate"].Value = Convert.ToDateTime("2012-01-01"); } if (t.Validate().Count == 0) { t.Save(); listOfWorkItems.Add(t.Id); } else { Console.WriteLine(">> Following exception(s) encountered during work item save: "); foreach (var e in t.Validate()) { Console.WriteLine(" - '{0}' ", e); } } var linkTypEnd = _wis.WorkItemLinkTypes.LinkTypeEnds["Child"]; p.Links.Add(new WorkItemLink(linkTypEnd, t.Id) {ChangedDate = Convert.ToDateTime("2012-01-01").AddSeconds(20)}); if (_wis.BypassRules) { p.Fields["System.ChangedDate"].Value = Convert.ToDateTime("2012-01-01").AddSeconds(20); } if (p.Validate().Count == 0) { p.Save(); } else { Console.WriteLine(">> Following exception(s) encountered during work item save: "); foreach (var e in p.Validate()) { Console.WriteLine(" - '{0}' ", e); } } return listOfWorkItems; } 03 – Set the value of “Created Date” and Change the value of “Changed Date” to Historic Dates The CreatedDate can only be changed after a work item has been created. If you try and set the CreatedDate to a historic date at the time of creation of a work item, it will not work. // Lets do a work item effort burn down simulation by updating the ChangedDate & CreatedDate to historic Values private static void WorkItemChangeSimulation(IEnumerable<int> listOfWorkItems) { foreach (var id in listOfWorkItems) { var wi = _wis.GetWorkItem(id); switch (wi.Type.Name) { case "ProductBacklogItem": if (wi.State.ToLower() == "new") wi.State = "Approved"; // Advance the changed date by few seconds wi.Fields["System.ChangedDate"].Value = Convert.ToDateTime(wi.Fields["System.ChangedDate"].Value).AddSeconds(10); // Set the CreatedDate to Changed Date wi.Fields["System.CreatedDate"].Value = Convert.ToDateTime(wi.Fields["System.ChangedDate"].Value).AddSeconds(10); wi.Save(); break; case "Task": // Advance the changed date by few seconds wi.Fields["System.ChangedDate"].Value = Convert.ToDateTime(wi.Fields["System.ChangedDate"].Value).AddSeconds(10); // Set the CreatedDate to Changed date wi.Fields["System.CreatedDate"].Value = Convert.ToDateTime(wi.Fields["System.ChangedDate"].Value).AddSeconds(10); wi.Save(); break; } } // A mock sprint start date var sprintStart = DateTime.Today.AddDays(-5); // A mock sprint end date var sprintEnd = DateTime.Today.AddDays(5); // What is the total Sprint duration var totalSprintDuration = (sprintEnd - sprintStart).Days; // How much of the sprint have we already covered var noOfDaysIntoSprint = (DateTime.Today - sprintStart).Days; // Get the effort assigned to our tasks var totalEffortRemaining = QueryTaskTotalEfforRemaining(listOfWorkItems); // Defining how much effort to burn every day decimal dailyBurnRate = totalEffortRemaining / totalSprintDuration < 1 ? 1 : totalEffortRemaining / totalSprintDuration; // we have just created one task var totalNoOfTasks = 1; var simulation = sprintStart; var currentDate = DateTime.Today.Date; // Carry on till effort has been burned down from sprint start to today while (simulation.Date != currentDate.Date) { var dailyBurnRate1 = dailyBurnRate; // A fixed amount needs to be burned down each day while (dailyBurnRate1 > 0) { // burn down bit by bit from all unfinished task type work items foreach (var id in listOfWorkItems) { var wi = _wis.GetWorkItem(id); var isDirty = false; // Set the status to in progress if (wi.State.ToLower() == "to do") { wi.State = "In Progress"; isDirty = true; } // Ensure that there is enough effort remaining in tasks to burn down the daily burn rate if (QueryTaskTotalEfforRemaining(listOfWorkItems) > dailyBurnRate1) { // If there is less than 1 unit of effort left in the task, burn it all if (Convert.ToDecimal(wi["Remaining Work"]) <= 1) { wi["Remaining Work"] = 0; dailyBurnRate1 = dailyBurnRate1 - Convert.ToDecimal(wi["Remaining Work"]); isDirty = true; } else { // How much to burn from each task? var toBurn = (dailyBurnRate / totalNoOfTasks) < 1 ? 1 : (dailyBurnRate / totalNoOfTasks); // Check that the task has enough effort to allow burnForTask effort if (Convert.ToDecimal(wi["Remaining Work"]) >= toBurn) { wi["Remaining Work"] = Convert.ToDecimal(wi["Remaining Work"]) - toBurn; dailyBurnRate1 = dailyBurnRate1 - toBurn; isDirty = true; } else { wi["Remaining Work"] = 0; dailyBurnRate1 = dailyBurnRate1 - Convert.ToDecimal(wi["Remaining Work"]); isDirty = true; } } } else { dailyBurnRate1 = 0; } if (isDirty) { if (Convert.ToDateTime(wi.Fields["System.ChangedDate"].Value).Date == simulation.Date) { wi.Fields["System.ChangedDate"].Value = Convert.ToDateTime(wi.Fields["System.ChangedDate"].Value).AddSeconds(20); } else { wi.Fields["System.ChangedDate"].Value = simulation.AddSeconds(20); } wi.Save(); } } } // Increase date by 1 to perform daily burn down by day simulation = Convert.ToDateTime(simulation).AddDays(1); } } // Get the Total effort remaining in the current sprint private static decimal QueryTaskTotalEfforRemaining(List<int> listOfWorkItems) { var unfinishedWorkInCurrentSprint = _wis.GetQueryDefinition( new Guid(QueryAndGuid.FirstOrDefault(c => c.Key == "Unfinished Work").Value)); var parameters = new Dictionary<string, object> { { "project", _selectedTeamProject.Name } }; var q = new Query(_wis, unfinishedWorkInCurrentSprint.QueryText, parameters); var results = q.RunLinkQuery(); var wis = new List<WorkItem>(); foreach (var result in results) { var _wi = _wis.GetWorkItem(result.TargetId); if (_wi.Type.Name == "Task" && listOfWorkItems.Contains(_wi.Id)) wis.Add(_wi); } return wis.Sum(r => Convert.ToDecimal(r["Remaining Work"])); }   04 – The Results If you are still reading, the results are beautiful! Image 1 – Create work item with Changed Date pre-set to historic date Image 2 – Set the CreatedDate to historic date (Same as the ChangedDate) Image 3 – Simulate of effort burn down on a task via the TFS API   Image 4 – The history of changes on the Task. So, essentially this task has burned 1 hour per day Sprint Burn Down Chart – What’s not possible? The Sprint burn down chart is calculated from the System.AuthorizedDate and not the System.ChangedDate/System.CreatedDate. So, though you can change the System.ChangedDate and System.CreatedDate to historic dates you will not be able to synthesize the sprint burn down chart. Image 1 – By changing the Created Date and Changed Date to ‘18/Oct/2012’ you would have expected the burn down to have been impacted, but it won’t be, because the sprint burn down chart uses the value of field ‘System.AuthorizedDate’ to calculate the unfinished work points. The AsOf queries that are used to calculate the unfinished work points use the value of the field ‘System.AuthorizedDate’. Image 2 – Using the above code I burned down 1 hour effort per day over 5 days from the task work item, I would have expected the sprint burn down to show a constant burn down, instead the burn down shows the effort exhausted on the 24th itself. Simply because the burn down is calculated using the ‘System.AuthorizedDate’. Now you would ask… “Can I change the value of the field System.AuthorizedDate to a historic date” Unfortunately that’s not possible! You will run into the exception ValidationException –  “TF26194: The value for field ‘Authorized Date’ cannot be changed.” Conclusion - You need to be a member of the Project Collection Service account group in order to set the fields ‘System.ChangedDate’ and ‘System.CreatedDate’ to historic dates - You need to instantiate the WorkItemStore using the flag ByPassValidation - The System.ChangedDate needs to be set to a historic date at the time of work item creation. You cannot reset the ChangedDate to a date earlier than the existing ChangedDate and you cannot reset the ChangedDate to a date greater than the current date time. - The System.CreatedDate can only be reset after a work item has been created. You cannot set the CreatedDate at the time of work item creation. The CreatedDate cannot be greater than the current date. You can however reset the CreatedDate to a date earlier than the existing value. - You will not be able to synthesize the Sprint burn down chart by changing the value of System.ChangedDate and System.CreatedDate to historic dates, since the burn down chart uses AsOf queries to calculate the unfinished work points which internally uses the System.AuthorizedDate and NOT the System.ChangedDate & System.CreatedDate - System.AuthorizedDate cannot be set to a historic date using the TFS API Read other posts on using the TFS API here… Enjoy!

  • Better ways to have valuable data indexed, which is ignored currently

    - by Sam
<a title="">.../a> Hi folks. It seems that my title tag which holds extremely valuable and describes contents on my simple design page is currently compeltely denied by search engines and not indexed at all!! Those descriptions should however be indexed as the describe valuable portions to an otherwise empty page with clean glossary (thats neat and organised to the eye of the viewer. So putting all that descriptive data into visible space would ruin the designish less is more fundamental... So, which alternatives to the title tag do I have, in order to put important contents that are relevant for both user as well as search engines? A <a name="">......</> B <p name="">......</> C <a alt="">.......</> D <p alt="">.......</> From the above list, arose my question: Which of the above is advisable alternative in order to get the valuable actual content indexed? Should it be in a a tag or p tag? Or are there even better tags for this which still keep layout clean? You suggestions are Much appreciated!

mso-style-unhide:no; mso-tstyle-shading:#F7CBC7; mso-tstyle-shading-themecolor:accent6; mso-tstyle-shading-themetint:63;} It is generally accepted among business communities that technology by itself is not a silver bullet to all problems, but when it is combined with leading practices, strategy, careful planning and execution, it can create a recipe for success. This post attempts to highlight some of the best practices along with dos & don’ts that our practice has accumulated over the years in the identity & access management space in general, and also in the context of R2, in particular. Best Practices The following section illustrates the leading practices in “How” to plan, implement and sustain a successful OIM deployment, based on our collective experience. Planning is critical, but often overlooked A common approach to planning an IAM program that we identify with our clients is the three step process involving a current state assessment, a future state roadmap and an executable strategy to get there. It is extremely beneficial for clients to assess their current IAM state, perform gap analysis, document the recommended controls to address the gaps, align future state roadmap to business initiatives and get buy in from all stakeholders involved to improve the chances of success. When designing an enterprise-wide solution, the scalability of the technology must accommodate the future growth of the enterprise and the projected identity transactions over several years. Aligning the implementation schedule of OIM to related information technology projects increases the chances of success. As a baseline, it is recommended to match hardware specifications to the sizing guide for R2 published by Oracle. Adherence to this will help ensure that the hardware used to support OIM will not become a bottleneck as the adoption of new services increases. If your Organization has numerous connected applications that rely on reconciliation to synchronize the access data into OIM, consider hosting dedicated instances to handle reconciliation. Finally, ensure the use of clustered environment for development and have at least three total environments to help facilitate a controlled migration to production. If your Organization is planning to implement role based access control, we recommend performing a role mining exercise and consolidate your enterprise roles to keep them manageable. In addition, many Organizations have multiple approval flows to control access to critical roles, applications and entitlements. If your Organization falls into this category, we highly recommend that you limit the number of approval workflows to a small set. Most Organizations have operations managed across data centers with backend database synchronization, if your Organization falls into this category, ensure that the overall latency between the datacenters when replicating the databases is less than ten milliseconds to ensure that there are no front office performance impacts. Ingredients for a successful implementation During the development phase of your project, there are a number of guidelines that can be followed to help increase the chances for success. Most implementations cannot be completed without the use of customizations. If your implementation requires this, it’s a good practice to perform code reviews to help ensure quality and reduce code bottlenecks related to performance. We have observed at our clients that the development process works best when team members adhere to coding leading practices. Plan for time to correct coding defects and ensure developers are empowered to report their own bugs for maximum transparency. Many organizations struggle with defining a consistent approach to managing logs. This is particularly important due to the amount of information that can be logged by OIM. We recommend Oracle Diagnostics Logging (ODL) as an alternative to be used for logging. ODL allows log files to be formatted in XML for easy parsing and does not require a server restart when the log levels are changed during troubleshooting. Testing is a vital part of any large project, and an OIM R2 implementation is no exception. We suggest that at least one lower environment should use production-like data and connectors. Configurations should match as closely as possible. For example, use secure channels between OIM and target platforms in pre-production environments to test the configurations, the migration processes of certificates, and the additional overhead that encryption could impose. Finally, we ask our clients to perform database backups regularly and before any major change event, such as a patch or migration between environments. In the lowest environments, we recommend to have at least a weekly backup in order to prevent significant loss of time and effort. Similarly, if your organization is using virtual machines for one or more of the environments, it is recommended to take frequent snapshots so that rollbacks can occur in the event of improper configuration. Operate & sustain the solution to derive maximum benefits When migrating OIM R2 to production, it is important to perform certain activities that will help achieve a smoother transition. At our clients, we have seen that splitting the OIM tables into their own tablespaces by categories (physical tables, indexes, etc.) can help manage database growth effectively. If we notice that a client hasn’t enabled the Oracle-recommended indexing in the applicable database, we strongly suggest doing so to improve performance. Additionally, we work with our clients to make sure that the audit level is set to fit the organization’s auditing needs and sometimes even allocate UPA tables and indexes into their own table-space for better maintenance. Finally, many of our clients have set up schedules for reconciliation tables to be archived at regular intervals in order to keep the size of the database(s) reasonable and result in optimal database performance. For our clients that anticipate availability issues with target applications, we strongly encourage the use of the offline provisioning capabilities of OIM R2. This reduces the provisioning process for a given target application dependency on target availability and help avoid broken workflows. To account for this and other abnormalities, we also advocate that OIM’s monitoring controls be configured to alert administrators on any abnormal situations. Within OIM R2, we have begun advising our clients to utilize the ‘profile’ feature to encapsulate multiple commonly requested accounts, roles, and/or entitlements into a single item. By setting up a number of profiles that can be searched for and used, users will spend less time performing the same exact steps for common tasks. We advise our clients to follow the Oracle recommended guides for database and application server tuning which provides a good baseline configuration. It offers guidance on database connection pools, connection timeouts, user interface threads and proper handling of adapters/plug-ins. All of these can be important configurations that will allow faster provisioning and web page response times. Many of our clients have begun to recognize the value of data mining and a remediation process during the initial phases of an implementation (to help ensure high quality data gets loaded) and beyond (to support ongoing maintenance and business-as-usual processes). A successful program always begins with identifying the data elements and assigning a classification level based on criticality, risk, and availability. It should finish by following through with a remediation process. Dos & Don’ts Here are the most common dos and don'ts that we socialize with our clients, derived from our experience implementing the solution. Dos Don’ts Scope the project into phases with realistic goals. Look for quick wins to show success and value to the stake holders. Avoid “boiling the ocean” and trying to integrate all enterprise applications in the first phase. Establish an enterprise ID (universal unique ID across the enterprise) earlier in the program. Avoid major UI customizations that require code changes. Have a plan in place to patch during the project, which helps alleviate any major issues or roadblocks (product and database). Avoid publishing all the target entitlements if you don't anticipate their usage during access request. Assess your current state and prepare a roadmap to address your operations, tactical and strategic goals, align it with your business priorities. Avoid integrating non-production environments with your production target systems. Defer complex integrations to the later phases and take advantage of lessons learned from previous phases Avoid creating multiple accounts for the same user on the same system, if there is an opportunity to do so. Have an identity and access data quality initiative built into your plan to identify and remediate data related issues early on. Avoid creating complex approval workflows that would negative impact productivity and SLAs. Identify the owner of the identity systems with fair IdM knowledge and empower them with authority to make product related decisions. This will help ensure overcome any design hurdles. Avoid creating complex designs that are not sustainable long term and would need major overhaul during upgrades. Shadow your internal or external consulting resources during the implementation to build the necessary product skills needed to operate and sustain the solution. Avoid treating IAM as a point solution and have appropriate level of communication and training plan for the IT and business users alike. Conclusion In our experience, Identity programs will struggle with scope, proper resourcing, and more. We suggest that companies consider the suggestions discussed in this post and leverage them to help enable their identity and access program. • How to verify that all files are intact prior to install?

    - by Kalle H. Väravas
I'm working on my CMS (in PHP platform) for a long time now. The main program is done and I'm currently developing the Installer part. Installation itself will be fairly simple: Upload all files Verify that the "content/" dir has correct permissions Check if ALL files are intact and not modified [This is the subject of this question] Insert the config data and first settings Run install (Generate all DB tables and insert sample data etc.) Now the question-mark is at step 3. How do I verify ALL files? Verification itself should compare all CMS root-directories files against a list from remote location. List should contain filename, filesize and filetype. This way the user can check, that there are no unnecessary or corrupted files, that could indicated a breach in the software. I have seen some software installers do that, but I cannot find any right now and there for I'm clueless on the most optimal method for this. Of course there always is a simple array trick, but there surely must be a better and faster method?!

  • Static pages for large photo album

    - by Phil P
I'm looking for advice on software for managing a largish photo album for a website. 2000+ pictures, one-time drop (probably). I normally use MarginalHack's album, which does what I want: pre-generate thumbnails and HTML for the pictures, so I can serve without needing a dynamic run-time, so there's less attack surface to worry about. However, it doesn't handle pagination or the like, so it's unwieldy for this case. This is a one-time drop for pictures from a wedding, with a shared usercode/password for distribution to the guests; I don't wish to put the pictures in a third-party hosting environment. I don't wish to use PHP, simply because that's another run-time to worry about, I might relent and use something dynamic if it's Python or Perl based (as I can maintain things written in those). I currently have: Apache serving static files, Album-generated, some sub-directories to divide up the content to be a little more manageable. Something like Album but with pagination already handled would be great, but I'm willing to have something a little more dynamic, if it lets people comment or caption and store the extra data in something like an sqlite DB. I'd want something light-weight, not a full-blown CMS with security updates every three months. I don't want to upload pictures of other peoples' children into a third-party free service where I don't know what the revenue model is. (For my site: revenue is none, costs out of pocket). Existing server hosting is *nix, Apache, some WSGI. Client-side I have MacOS. Any advice?

  • List of common pages to have in the footer [closed]

    - by user359650
I would like to post this question as a reference for webmasters wondering what pages they should include in the footer. I will use answers to complete my initial list: About us / About MyCompany / MyCompany About / About us: description about the company, its mission, and its vision. History: summary of milestones achieved by the company. The team / Management / Board of directors: depending on size of the company there may be one of more pages describing the people involved in the company, depending on their position. Awards: list of awards received by the company if any. In the press / They're talking about us: list of links to external websites, usually highly regarded news websites, which mentioned the company in one of their articles. Media Wallpapers: wallpapers with company logo in different colors and formats that fans can set as desktop image for their computer. logos: company logo in different colors and formats that websites/blogs posting about the website can use for illustration purposes. Media kits: documents, usually in PDF format summarizing the key company figures and facts that journalists can download and read to get a quick overview of the company. Misc Contact / Contact us: contact details the company is prepared to disclose if any (address, email, phone) or contact form. Careers / Jobs / Join us: list of open vacancies with contact form to apply. Investors / Partners / Publishers: information and contact forms for companies willing to become Investors/Partners/Publishers or login page to access portal restricted to those who already are. FAQ: list of common questions and answers to guide users and reduce number of support requests. Follow us / Community Facebook / Twitter / Google+: links to the company's pages/accounts on various social networks. Legal Terms / Terms of use / Terms & Conditions: rules users must follow when browsing the website. Privacy / Privacy Statement: explanations as to how the company deals with users' personal data and what users can do about it (request information to be deleted...). cookies: page that starts appearing on more and more websites due to new regulation (notably EU) imposing more transparency and control for users about cookies (e.g. BBC cookie page). Any input is welcome PS: if someone with enough rep could add the footer tag that would be great (min. 300 required).

  • Google indexed the same page under two URLs (despite rel-canonical)

    - by unor
The Super User question "Playing mp3 in quodlibet displays “GStreamer output pipeline could not be initialized” error" is indexed under two URLs in Google: http://superuser.com/questions/651591/playing-mp3-in-quodlibet-displays-gstreamer-output-pipeline-could-not-be-initia http://superuser.com/questions/651591/playing-mp3-in-quodlibet-displays-gstreamer-output-pipeline-could-not-be-initia/652058 The first one is the canonical one; the corresponding rel-canonical is included in both pages: <link rel="canonical" href="http://superuser.com/questions/651591/playing-mp3-in-quodlibet-displays-gstreamer-output-pipeline-could-not-be-initia" /> Google also indexed http://superuser.com/a/652058, which redirects to the answer: http://superuser.com/questions/651591/playing-mp3-in-quodlibet-displays-gstreamer-output-pipeline-could-not-be-initia/652058#652058 Now, the second URL from above is the same as this one minus the fragment #652058. So Google seems to strip the fragment, which results in exactly the same page under another URL (= containing the answer ID /652058 as suffix), and indexes it, too -- despite rel-canonical and duplicate content. Shouldn’t Google recognize this and only index the canonical variant? And what could be the reason why Stack Exchange includes the answer ID in the URL path, and not only in the fragment (resulting in various URL variants for the same page)?

  • How can I extract the original image stream from a System.Drawing.Bitmap object?

    - by skolima
I am embedding images into my assembly using .resx files. Upon runtime, I need to save the images into standalone files, restoring the original content. How can I extract the original file stream from an System.Drawing.Bitmap instance? I know I can create a stream using Bitmap.Save(), but this transcodes (and in effect - inflates) the images, even when saving a PNG back as PNG. Or perhaps my mistake is reading them from Resource as Bitmap in the first place?

  • "The system time has changed" events after waking from sleep

    - by Damir Arh
Sometimes when my computer running Windows 7 wakes up from sleep, it has to adjust the time. When this happens the following system event is logged: <Event xmlns='http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event'> <System> <Provider Name='Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-General' Guid='{A68CA8B7-004F-D7B6-A698-07E2DE0F1F5D}'/> <EventID>1</EventID> <Version>0</Version> <Level>4</Level> <Task>0</Task> <Opcode>0</Opcode> <Keywords>0x8000000000000010</Keywords> <TimeCreated SystemTime='2010-03-06T19:09:57.500000000Z'/> <EventRecordID>10672</EventRecordID> <Correlation/> <Execution ProcessID='4' ThreadID='56'/> <Channel>System</Channel> <Computer>GAME</Computer> <Security/> </System> <EventData> <Data Name='NewTime'>2010-03-06T19:09:57.500000000Z</Data> <Data Name='OldTime'>2010-03-06T17:34:32.870117200Z</Data> </EventData> <RenderingInfo Culture='sl-SI'> <Message>The system time has changed to ?2010?-?03?-?06T19:09:57.500000000Z from ?2010?-?03?-?06T17:34:32.870117200Z.</Message> <Level>Information</Level> <Task></Task> <Opcode>Info</Opcode> <Channel>System</Channel> <Provider>Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-General</Provider> <Keywords> <Keyword>Time</Keyword> </Keywords> </RenderingInfo> </Event> When this happens (I noticed it twice until now) the old time always corresponds to the time when computer entered sleep. The problem is that if Windows Media Center is scheduled for recording during this time, it just skips it as if the computer was turned off. I never had this problem running Windows Vista on the same machine. Any ideas what could be causing this problem and how to solve it are welcome.

  • How to install SQL Server 2005 Configuration Manager without installing SQL Server Management Studio

    - by Arnold Zokas
Hi, I need to configure SQL Server aliases on a public-facing production server. To do that, I need to install SQL Server Configuration Manager. I was not able to find a standalone installer for that, so I am having to install SQL Server 2005 Client Components. This approach is not ideal as we don't want to have SSMS on an public-facing production server. Is there a way to install SQL Server 2005 Configuration Manager without installing SQL Server Management Studio? Thanks, Arnold

  • "No more threads can be created in the system" in Network and Sharing Center

    - by Zell Faze
A while back I noticed on one of our laboratory computers (Windows 7, very little extra software installed) that the network connection icon in the system tray would claim that it had no network connection, even though it did. This issue would go away after the computer was rebooted, but would surface again the next time I looked at the computer (a few days later). Upon opening the Network and Sharing Center I am shown an actual error message, but not one that seems to give me a lot of information about what the problem is. In the place of the usual information about network adapters and whether you are connected to the Internet it simply says: "No more threads can be created in the system." The Event Viewer shows hundreds of events from different services also with the same message. "Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error calling routine CoCreateInstance. hr = 0x800700a4, No more threads can be created in the system."; "The WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Service service failed to start due to the following error: A thread could not be created for the service."; "The IP Helper service terminated with the following error: No more threads can be created in the system." As far as I can tell, this message seems to mean that there is some sort of resource leak in Windows where something is creating a large number of threads and those threads are not being killed off? I've tried restarting WMI and several services related to networking, without avail. Can anyone provide more information on what "No more threads can be created in the system" might mean and what I might be able to do to fix the issue? Currently the only solution appears to be restarting.

I'm interested in how I could remotely control FTP and file management on my Linux VPS with a GUI. I frequently transfer sites to my VPS for testing, and I'd much rather do it directly on the high bandwidth connection instead of my 10down, 2up Comcrap cable.

  • Accidently overwrote system.dbf - What now?

    - by Filip Ekberg
I accidentally overwrote system.dbf in /usr/lib/oracle/xe/oradata/XE/system.dbf Well I did not actually do it accidentally, however I overwrote it because of other failures in the database. And when I try running the following: SQL> shutdown ORA-01109: database not open Database dismounted. ORACLE instance shut down. SQL> startup ORACLE instance started. Total System Global Area 289406976 bytes Fixed Size 1258488 bytes Variable Size 92277768 bytes Database Buffers 192937984 bytes Redo Buffers 2932736 bytes Database mounted. ORA-01589: must use RESETLOGS or NORESETLOGS option for database open Now I want to try to Recover the database because starting it in mounted or standard surely doesn't work. SQL> recover database using backup controlfile; ORA-00283: recovery session canceled due to errors ORA-01110: data file 1: '/usr/lib/oracle/xe/oradata/XE/system.dbf' ORA-01122: database file 1 failed verification check ORA-01110: data file 1: '/usr/lib/oracle/xe/oradata/XE/system.dbf' ORA-01206: file is not part of this database - wrong database id How do I solve this? Is it even possible? My "real" problem was that I ran the /etc/init.d/oracle-xe configure and it overwrote my old configuration and probably removed passwords and such so my tables were gone, however I found the mytablespace.dbf so I hope that it is possible to recover? Please shed some light on this.
