• Are Subversion 1.6 & Xcode 3.2 compatible?

  Trying to get Xcode to work with Subversion server. Server: Subversion upgraded to 1.6.9 (Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.8) Client: Xcode 3.2.1 (Snow Leopard 10.6.2 with Subversion 1.6.5 though not sure that matters) Repository on server is setup and working fine via command line. However, I get an error when trying to create the Repository connection in Xcode: Error: 160043 (Unsupported FS format) Description: Expected FS format '2'; found format '4' a Google search seems to say that the server needs to be updated...but it's running 1.6.9 which is the most current version I'm aware of. Anyone know how to make this work? Is it even possible? I'm well aware of the command line usage but I would like to get Xcode & SVN talking... Revisiting this after some time: Using command line: username$ svn+ssh://hostname/Library/Subversion/Repository/test yields the same result: Description: Expected FS format '2'; found format Can anyone verify that I need to upgrade Subversion on the client machine to match version on server (1.6.9)?!? was hoping i wouldn't have to unless it was a "major" revision (ie. 1.5.x - 1.6.x)

  My problem is this: I want to create a grails domain instance, defining the 'Many' instances of another domain that it has. • Facebook JS API: How to get FB.Connect.streamPublish to use auto_publish

  I'm trying to publish stuff to someone's wall. It works, but I'm also trying to use the auto_publish feature so the user will only get one popup granting the publish_stream extended permission. So I set streamPublish's auto_publish to true, but I still get the popup asking me if I want to publish and/or edit the message. What am I doing wrong?   Ok, I've been trying to get this to work like all day now and I'm barely any further from when I started. I'm trying to get Ruby On Rails to connect to SQL Server. I've installed unixODBC and configured it and FreeTDS and installed just about every Ruby gem relating to ODBC that exists. • SqlBulkCopy causes Deadlock on SQL Server 2000.

  I have a customized data import executable in .NET 3.5 which the SqlBulkCopy to basically do faster inserts on large amounts of data. The app basically takes an input file, massages the data and bulk uploads it into a SQL Server 2000. It was written by a consultant who was building it with a SQL 2008 database environment. Would that env difference be causing this? SQL 2000 does have the bcp utility which is what BulkCopy is based on. So, When we ran this, it triggered a Deadlock error. Error details: Transaction (Process ID 58) was deadlocked on lock resources with another process and has been chosen as the deadlock victim. Rerun the transaction. I've tried numerous ways to try to resolve it. like temporarily setting the connection string variable MultipleActiveResultSets=true, which wasn't ideal, but it still gives a Deadlock error. I also made sure it wasn't a connection time out problem. here's the function.   I have an ASP.NET web app where the back end data (XML format) is transformed using XSLT, producing XHTML which is output into the page. I was thinking of using .NET resource files (.resx), but I don't know how the resx string resources would get pulled in to the XSLT when the transformation takes place. I would prefer not to have locale-specific copies of the XSLT file, since that means a lot of duplicate transformation logic. (NOTE: the XML data is already localized, so I don't need to change that)

  It feels dirty. But maybe it isn't... is it ok to use a StringBuilder for writing XML? My gut instinct says "although this feels wrong, it's probably pretty darn performant because it's not loading extra libraries and overhead." Here's what it looks like. The T-SQL code does exactly what I want, which is to make a single result based on the results of a query, which will then be used in another query. However, I can't figure out how the SELECT @column_list =... statement is putting multiple values into a single string of characters by being inside a SELECT statement. Without the assignment to @column_list, the SELECT statement would simply return multiple rows. How is it that by having the variable within the SELECT statement that the results get "flattened" down into one value? How should I read this T-SQL to properly understand what's going on?

Still, when I submit the form I go right back to the post template, none of my print statements execute :(

• Fuzzy Search on Material Descriptions including numerical sizes & general descriptions of material t

  We're looking to provide a fuzzy search on an electrical materials database (i.e. conduit, cable, etc.). The problem is that, because of a lack of consistency across all material types, we could not split sizes into separate fields from the text description because some materials are rated by things other than size. I've attempted a combination of a full text search & a SQL CLR implementation of the Levenshtein search algorithm (for assistance in ranking), but my results are a little funky (i.e. they are not sorting correctly due to improper ranking). For example, if the search term is "3/4" ABCD Conduit", I'll might get back several irrelevant results in the following order: 1/2" Conduit 1/4" X 3/4" Cable 1/4" Cable Ties 3/4" DFC Conduit Tees 3/4" ABCD Conduit 3/4" Conduit I believe I've nailed the problem down to the fact that these two search algorithms do not factor in the relevance of punctuation & numeric. That is, in such a search, I'd expect the size to take precedence over any fuzzy match on the rest of the description, but my results don't reflect that. My question is: Can anyone recommend better search algorithms or different approaches that may be better suited for searching a combination of alphanumerics & punctuation characters?

  In a DataTable object, is there added overhead to looking up a column value by name thisRow("ColumnA") rather than by the column index thisRow(0)? In which scenarios might this be an issue. I work on a team that has lots of experience writing VB6 code and I noticed that didn't do column lookups by name for DataTable objects or data grids. Even in .NET code, we use a set of integer constants to reference column names in these types of objects. I asked our team lead why this was so, and he mentioned that in VB6, there was a lot of overhead in looking up data by column name rather than by index. Is this still true for .NET? • Unable to load huge XML document (incorrectly suppose it's due to the XSLT processing)

  I'm trying to match certain elements using XSLT. My input document is very large and the source XML fails to load after processing the following code (consider especially the first line). <xsl:template match="XMI/XMI.content/Model_Management.Model/Foundation.Core.Namespace.ownedElement/Model_Management.Package/Foundation.Core.Namespace.ownedElement"> <rdf:RDF> <rdf:Description rdf:about=""> <xsl:for-each select="Foundation.Core.Class"> <xsl:for-each select="Foundation.Core.ModelElement.name"> <owl:Class rdf:ID="@Foundation.Core.ModelElement.name" /> </xsl:for-each> </xsl:for-each> </rdf:Description> </rdf:RDF> </xsl:template> Apparently the XSLT fails to load after "Model_Management.Model". The PHP code is as follows: if ($xml->loadXML($source_xml) == false) { die('Failed to load source XML: ' . $http_file); } It then fails to perform loadXML and immediately dies. I think there are two options now. 1) I should set a maximum executing time. Frankly, I don't know how that I do this for the built-in PHP 5 XSLT processor. 2) Think about another way to match. • Optimising RSS parsing on App Engine to avoid high CPU warnings

  I'm pulling some RSS feeds into a datastore in App Engine to serve up to an iPhone app. I use cron to schedule updating the RSS every x minutes. Each task only parses one RSS feed (which has 15-20 items). I frequently get warnings about high CPU usage in the App Engine dashboard, so I'm looking for ways to optimise my code. Currently, I use minidom (since it's already there on App Engine), but I suspect it's not very efficient! Here's the code: dom = minidom.parseString(urlfetch.fetch(url).content) if dom: items = [] for node in dom.getElementsByTagName('item'): item = RssItem( key_name = self.getText(node.getElementsByTagName('guid')[0].childNodes), title = self.getText(node.getElementsByTagName('title')[0].childNodes), description = self.getText(node.getElementsByTagName('description')[0].childNodes), modified = datetime.now(), link = self.getText(node.getElementsByTagName('link')[0].childNodes), categories = [self.getText(category.childNodes) for category in node.getElementsByTagName('category')] ); items.append(item); db.put(items); def getText(self, nodelist): rc = '' for node in nodelist: if node.nodeType == node.TEXT_NODE: rc = rc + node.data return rc There isn't much going on, but the scripts often take 2-6 seconds CPU time, which seems a bit excessive for looping through 20ish items and reading a few attributes. What can I do to make this faster? Is there anything particularly bad in the above code, or should I change to another way of parsing? Are there are any libraries (that work on App Engine) that would be better, or would I be better parsing the RSS myself?

  I have the following jQuery function: $(function(){ if ($(".menu li").hasClass("active")) { $(".active").css("margin-top", "6px"); } }); This is applied to a CSS/jQuery menu, which expands and contracts when each menu item is hovered over. The onClick event adds a margin-top of 6px to give the impressions of a button depress. I'm then using PHP to detect which page the user is visiting to add an .active class to the relevant menu item. The question, the .active class should remain in place until the user hovers over a different menu item. At which point the .active class should be removed from this element - As the .active class is reused on the .hover events. Here is the basic HTML Markup: <ul id="menu"> <li> <div class="inner"> <div class="button"><img src="images/insightbutton.png" /></div> <div class="description">&nbsp;</div> </div> </li> <li> <div class="inner"> <div class="button"><img src="images/insightbutton.png" /></div> <div class="description">&nbsp;</div> </div> </li> </ul> How can I keep the .active class applied to the active menu item, but remove it when .inner is hovered over?

  Hi I have fully working project in .net 3.5SP1, with EF 1 ORM. I tried to upgrade to .net 4. No issue while upgrading... Then i ran the project and got a NullExecptionError, with no stack trace... and no way to debug.
