  • Problem registering a COM server written for Excel registered on client machine (can't set full path

    In this previous question <How to get COM Server for Excel written in VB.NET installed and registered in Automation Servers list? there is an example of how to create the full path to a registry key using VS 2008. Everything in the previous answer works correctly except the full path that I am setting (using the registry editor in VS) for mscoree.dll is not working (meaning it seems to do nothing). The full registry path is: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID{my_GUID}\InprocServer32(default) and the value I am setting is: [SystemFolder]mscoree.dll I can put anything (including hardcoding the full path) but the setting does not seem to matter and the registry always contains mscoree.dll without any path. I have tried adding another value to the registry path via VS and that works correctly including having the full path as specified by [SystemFolder]. The reason I need the full path (as explained in the previous question) is that without the path, Excel generates an error when the automation server is selected as it cannot find mscoree.dll (interestingly even though I receive an error the registration works OK). I am doing the install via a setup project which otherwise works fine. I am installing on a VISTA*64 system but have gotten the same error on other OS's. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

    I am trying to package a com dll in an msi. I want the setup to run a batch file afterwards. The batch file basically points to the WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727 folder and runs the regasm command to register the assembly. How do I get the setup to do this? Thanks.

  • Change size of a custom page in Inno Setup

    The following image shows the size of a standard custom page: I've intentionally removed the panel on top, where you usually see Caption, Description and Logo. So you can see that the actual size of the page is quite small - there are gaps on top, left and right sides. Is there any way to resize the page, so there are no gaps? I want the image to take the whole space. I create the page using CreateCustomPage function.

    I was wondering if you could help me find why I cannot install Ruby on Rails on my MBP with OS X Mountain Lion. It's a weird problem and I'll give you as much info as I can. I've installed ruby and it's working at version 1.9.3 And I've installed ruby gems and it's worked for every other gem I've tried to install. It's version is 1.8.24 When I run $ sudo gem install rails it replies with the message: Successfully installed rails-3.2.8 1 gem installed Although when I ask it rails -v it returns: `Rails is not currently installed on this system. To get the latest version, simply type: $ sudo gem install rails You can then rerun your "rails" command.` What should I do? The rails bash file (/usr/bin/rails) contains: #!/usr/bin/ruby # Stub rails command to load rails from Gems or print an error if not installed. require 'rubygems' version = ">= 0" if ARGV.first =~ /^_(.*)_$/ and Gem::Version.correct? $1 then version = $1 ARGV.shift end begin gem 'railties', version or raise rescue Exception puts 'Rails is not currently installed on this system.   • How to maintain long-lived python projects w.r.t. dependencies and python versions ?

    short version: how can I get rid of the multiple-versions-of-python nightmare ? long version: over the years, I've used several versions of python, and what is worse, several extensions to python (e.g. pygame, pylab, wxPython...). Each time it was on a different setup, with different OSes, sometimes different architectures (like my old PowerPC mac). Nowadays I'm using a mac (OSX 10.6 on x86-64) and it's a dependency nightmare each time I want to revive script older than a few months. Python itself already comes in three different flavours in /usr/bin (2.5, 2.6, 3.1), but I had to install 2.4 from macports for pygame, something else (cannot remember what) forced me to install all three others from macports as well, so at the end of the day I'm the happy owner of seven (!) instances of python on my system. But that's not the problem, the problem is, none of them has the right (i.e. same set of) libraries installed, some of them are 32bits, some 64bits, and now I'm pretty much lost. For example right now I'm trying to run a three-year-old script (not written by me) which used to use matplotlib/numpy to draw a real-time plot within a rectangle of a wxwidgets window. But I'm failing miserably: py26-wxpython from macports won't install, stock python has wxwidgets included but also has some conflict between 32 bits and 64 bits, and it doesn't have numpy... what a mess ! Obviously, I'm doing things the wrong way. How do you usally cope with all that chaos ?

    Using Mac OS X 10.6.2, Eclipse SDK 3.5.2. I installed the Android plugin, following the instructions at: http://developer.android.com/sdk/eclipse-adt.html In the next section (step #3) it says: For the SDK Location in the main panel, click Browse... and locate your downloaded SDK directory. I cannot find such a directory. When I try some other directory, it says the directory has no 'tools' folder, so I've searched for a 'tools' folder, but none of those found (of 15 or 20) appear to be Android.   • installing Delphi5 pro in windows 64b

    Please dont laugh . Over the past 15 years or so I've written all the software that runs my medical practice in D5. Last week when I went to DelphiArea to update a component I got attacked and my disk became unbootable/unrecoverable. I have my original D5p disk and all the components backed up but I want to migrate to W7. I don't care if my delphi apps look like vista/7, I just want to be able to install it and code on the machine again for maintenance purposes. 1) are there any tricks to install D5 so it works in W7? 2) is using a vm program really the only/best way? if so, which is suggested.     I followed the instructions for setting up postgresql from this site All seems to go fine until I try: createuser --superuser myname -U postgres I get the following exception: createuser: could not connect to database postgres: could not connect to server: No such file or directory Is the server running locally and accepting connections on Unix domain socket "/tmp/.s.PGSQL.5432"? For the life of me I can't figure out how to resolve this. Any ideas???

Whenever I get to the option in the installer "JDK Selection" I'm told to manually select a JDK. I gave it my path (C:\IBM\rad7\jdk\), and was told it is invalid.     I have had this problem for too long time: package-manager not working or very unstable, examples here. Now suppose my laptop has very little precious stuff. Is there some easy way to reinstall Debian -package-manager? I don't really have time to fix this problem so I am considering reinstallation of the OS, I have no idea what is causing this repetitive errors with the installers such as aptitude, pip and apt-get.   • Cannot find libmysqlclient under /usr. while build PHP 5.2 from source on Ubuntu 12.4

    I was trying to build PHP 5.2.17 from source on Ubuntu 12.4 64bit using this configuration: ./configure --prefix=/opt/php5.2 --with-config-file-path=/opt/php5.2 --with-mysql but I keep getting this error: configure: error: Cannot find libmysqlclient under /usr. Note that the MySQL client library is not bundled anymore! I suspected that dev package for mysql is not installed so tried installing libmysqlclient-dev but it was already there. Any Idea how to resolve this? EDIT1: I minimized the configure command so it just focuses to mysql. also I'm running a 64bit version of ubuntu. EDIT2: tried running ldconfig -v |grep mysql and here is the output # ldconfig -v |grep mysql /sbin/ldconfig.real: Path `/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu' given more than once /sbin/ldconfig.real: Path `/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu' given more than once /sbin/ldconfig.real: Cannot stat /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libnss_db.so: No such file or directory libmysqlclient.so.18 -> libmysqlclient_r.so.18.0.0 libmysqlpp.so.3 -> libmysqlpp.so.3.1.0

  • Proper Install Order For Visual Studio 2010 with SQL Server 2008 and Office 2007?

    I want to create a Windows 7 64-bit (Ultimate) virtual machine with: Visual Studio 2010 (Ultimate) Office 2007 Enterprise (with Visio 2007) SQL Server 2008 (with SSIS and SSRS) but I am not sure if there is a correct order to install those items such that there will not be a loss of "awareness" of one application from another on that list? For example, I want to make sure Visual Studio knows that Office exists but also that Visual Studio knows that SQL Server exists but if I install SQL Server before Office will that wipe out any data access drivers that are needed by VS 2010 if Office is installed after SQL Server? There are a lot of components and I never gave it a thought that install order would matter but I have a feeling it does. Ultimately I want to create a VM that I can save and use a base development VM from which to create additional VMs from.

  • How to copy QT folder to another folder without reinstalling it?

    I have QT installed on disc D (on Windows). And I want to move it to disc C. Is it possible to do that? If I just copy QT folder from C to D then I see lot of errors when I compile my applications that use QT. Errors are because qmake.exe contains full paths to include, bin and libs folders inside. So, when I create solution for Visual Studio 2005 using qmake - then this solution contains dependencies to old QT folder from disc D. And I found no way how to remove this dependencies without reinstalling of QT. It is not a big problem for one my single machine - I can reinstall. But I need to deliver this change then to tens and hundreds of other developers machines and I want to make it as easy as possible without need to reinstall QT.

  • Install Python 2.6 without using installer on Win32

    I need to run a python script on a machine that doesn't have python installed. What I did was as follows. Copy python.exe, python26.dll, msvcr90.dll and Microsoft.VC90.CRT.manifest zip all the directory in LIBs directory as the python26.zip copy all the necessary dll/pyd file inside the DLL directory. It seems to work, but when I change the python26.zip to the other name such as pythonlib.zip. It cannot find the python library anymore. Q1 : What's the magic behind the python26.zip name? The python automatically finds a library inside a python26.zip but not with different name? Q2 : If I have python26.zip at the same directory where python.exe/python26.dll is, I don't need to add path sys.path.append(THE PATH TO python26.zip). Is it correct?
