  • What is the best way to keep a VGA cable plugged into a laptop

    - by Ryan B
I am looking for the best way to keep a VGA cable plugged into a laptop for an extended period of time. The laptop doesn't have the female end threads like you may see on a video card. Between the VGA port location and my hand size, I knock the cable out often. I am working on getting a docking station, but not sure when it would be ordered (work-related). I found an adapter, but not sure if it will work. Thanks

  • Good DVD ripper - for Divx

    - by alex
I'm currently going through my DVD collection, and digitising it, to allow me to watch it on a media streamer (I'm NOT a filesharer!!) I want to know what software i should use, to convert my DVD's to AVI divx format. I currently use Xilisoft DVD ripper, however this creates a "letterbox" at the top and bottom of the file - and there doesn't seem to be a way to turn this off. I'm a novice at video encoding, so would need something fairly simple / well documented.

  • Apache Mod_rewrite rule working on one server, but not another

    - by Mason
I am using mod_jk and mod_rewrite on httpd 2.2.15. I have a rule.... RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/video/play\.xhtml.* RewriteRule ^/video/(.*) /video/play.xhtml?vid=$1 [PT] I just want to rewrite something like /video/videoidhere to /video/play.xhtml?vid=videoidhere This works perfectly on my developer machine, but on production I get a 404 (generated by Jboss, not Apache). here is the tail of access.log and rewrite.log on prod (broken). the rewrite.log is exactly the same on dev(working) applying pattern '^/video/(.*)' to uri '/video/46279d4daf5440b2844ec831413dcc3b' RewriteCond: input='/video/46279d4daf5440b2844ec831413dcc3b' pattern='!^/video/play\.xhtml.*' => matched rewrite '/video/46279d4daf5440b2844ec831413dcc3b' -> '/video/play.xhtml?vid=46279d4daf5440b2844ec831413dcc3b' split uri=/video/play.xhtml?vid=46279d4daf5440b2844ec831413dcc3b -> uri=/video/play.xhtml, args=vid=46279d4daf5440b2844ec831413dcc3b forcing '/video/play.xhtml' to get passed through to next API URI-to-filename handler "GET /video/46279d4daf5440b2844ec831413dcc3b HTTP/1.1" 404 420 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.2.6) Gecko/20100628 Ubuntu/10.04 (lucid) Firefox/3.6.6" I can access http://www.fivi.com/video/play.xhtml?vid=46279d4daf5440b2844ec831413dcc3b but not /video/46279d4daf5440b2844ec831413dcc3b Both server are even using the EXACT same httpd.conf, and modules. • What are the good alternatives to Windows Movie Maker in Vista?

    - by GeneQ
Short of getting a Mac and using iMovie, what are the alternatives that you'll recommend to a non-profit organization that needs to produce simple (but polished) videos to showcase their community service activities to raise funds. Currently they are using Windows Movie Maker but have sort of outgrown it. I installed Jashaka for them, and understandably, they couldn't grok it at all. Their current system is powerful enough to handle most video editing tasks.

  • Editting HD Quicktime .mov files in Windows

    - by NoCarrier
I recently purchased one of those new wave of point & shoot digicams (canon SD780) that shoot high definition 720p video. Unfortunately it only writes to Quicktime files. How can I go about editing these in Windows without spending any money? I found a few MOV to AVI or WMV converters but am experiencing some quality degradation in the output.

    - by Raja
Hello everyone I'm looking for a tool for linux which can segment a video file into multiple small .ts files. • H.323 to RTSP gateway?

    - by davr
Is there such a thing as a H.323 to RTSP gateway? Am I searching for the wrong terms? This site seems to imply that such a thing should already exists, but I cannot find anything at all. My end goal is to connect a Flash applet (via RTMP) on one end to a video conference (which uses H.323) on the other end. I have a RTMP<--RTSP/RTP gateway, so a RTSP<--H.323 gateway would allow this solution to work.

  • VLC or ffserver for http streaming

    - by Maciek Sawicki
Hi, I don't like asking "OR" questions, but I can't find any comparison on the Internet. I need live http streaming using h264 in flv container. I managed to achieve this with VLC, but with big latency. I have some problems with ffmpeg and I can not make it to work, but I wonder if would it works better then VLC?

  • Darwin Streaming Server VOD playlist?

    - by StackedCrooked
I have a large MPEG4 file split up into a number of smaller files. I would like to make these files available as one movie. So I need something like a playlist. It seems the playlist option for live streaming is not available for VOD. Is there a way to get this functionality somehow?

  • How do I combine MP4 videos? [closed]

    - by LoopyWolf
Possible Duplicate: How can I merge two mp4 files without losing quality? I hunted all over the web but found nothing - I'm trying to compile a bunch of MP4s into a single video file. VirtualDub won't touch it.. and ultra-vibe no longer exists and the other "freeware mp4 combiners" all didn't work or were hobbled. Does anyone know a way?

  • Combining videos and recording sound over them

    - by Javier Badia
This is the idea: I want to have a video where I appear twice. With pictures this is easy: you take two pictures of yourself without moving the camera, once in each corner of the room, and then combine half and half with MS Paint. What free Windows program can do this with videos? Also, I later want to record some more sound over it. Will that same program allow me to do that, or do I need something else?

  • Google chat on Windows 8 Release Preview Messaging app

    - by Lakshmi Narayanan Guptha
I have connected my Windows live account(Microsoft account), Facebook account and Google account with Windows 8. On "People" Windows 8 app it shows as connected to Microsoft, Facebook, Google, whereas in "Messaging" app its connected only to Microsoft and Facebook. While I can chat with Facebook online contacts and messenger's, I cant find my Google online contacts only on Messaging app. Seems like Google supports only sharing of contacts and not chat as of now. Does anyone knows how to get Google chat on Windows 8 Messaging?

  • Sony Vegas: minimal audio glitches

    - by Fuxi
When doing video-editing with Sony Vegas, I noticed that it kind of produces minimal audio glitches very often. With glitch, I mean a copied fragment of approximately 1/2 second, as if I copied it and directly pasted it again. I'm assuming it must be something with puffers. Does anyone know of this problem? I have a pretty fast Windows 7 system with fast SATA drives.

  • How do I add another audio stream to an MP4 file?

    - by RandomEngy
I've got an MP4 video file and I want to add another AAC audio track to it. I've tried YAMB and MeGUI (frontends for MP4Box) and it plays correctly in Zoom Player, but it picks the wrong track in WMP and plays both at once in Quicktime. I think this might have to do with designating the default audio track somehow. Does anyone know how to specify the default audio track with YAMB/MeGUI or know of another way of adding a track to an MP4 file?

  • Digitally sign my email (in WLM) with my GnuPG key?

    - by Relequestual
Hi all, If I understand PGP correctly, I can digitally sign my email with my private key, which will prove they are from me, right? I created my public and private key on my server, but I can't work out how to set up digital signing with Windows Live Mail. Just to be clear, I'm talking about my own domain email account and not a hotmail account. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

  • What format is "undf"?

    - by ZlateWay
By accident, I recently removed some videos from my phone. I tried to restoring them with Recuva and TuneUp Utilities and the results were "undf" files. I tried to open with VLC, Media Player Classic and other video players to no avail. Where/how do I find out the codec for these files? I would really love to be able to watch these videos again.
