When trying to run find commands in cygwin, I keep getting the error
"FIND: Parameter format not correct"
However, the same commands run on linux. What's going on?
We have uploaded and transferred the mp3 files on centova cast successfully with Filezilla.
We know how to update the media library
We know how to create playlists
We know how to drag the songs into different playlists
We know how to save the media or the playlists
BUT, we are losing all the media library saved files (songs) the moment we get new files in media library.
However we want to keep the media library and playlist saved.
Hi,
I would like to save a pdf file with filled out interactive form. In evince or acrobat reader, "Print to file" can create another pdf file but the form is not editable any more. Is there some way to save the edit and keep the form interactive for later editing?
Thanks and regards!
How would I redirect all of the traffic from http://mysite.com/blog to a different server running at http://blog.mysite.com???
I want to do a 301 permanent redirect from http://blog.mysite.com to http://mysite.com/blog, but I want to keep the blog server running on http://blog.mysite.com, but I want it to appear to the user that they are viewing http://mysite.com/blog.
I have multiple computers, some have a 10/100 ethernet adapter while others have a 10/100/1000 ones. If I connect them together with the Cisco sg100-08 switch, do I keep the 1Gbit speed where possible (between two devices at 1Gbit speed) or the whole lan slows down to 100mbit? I checked Cisco website but I couldn't find this kind of information, nor I was able to register to the Cisco support to ask this question (the registration form does not work)
I understand it may "protect" an area but I don't get why the customer gets it and then takes it off after it was being protected in a full box anyway.
Also, should those film covers that surround the plastics around a laptop screen (and not the screen itself) and maybe also on the keyboard be kept on as much as possible?
I noticed if one tries to keep them on as much as possible they tend to go off by themselves anyway, but anyway, what's the status quo about it?
I understand that yum and apt-get operate on top of rpm, so that the data about installed packages in a linux system is responsability of rpm; so that neither yum nor apt-get keep their own data about installed packages . Is this true ? It is safe to install some package using yum and install another (perhaps related) package using apt-get (or viceversa)?
When using Windows 7 libraries for an external hard-drive. There is a problem when I go to safely remove the hard-drive. Windows won't let me because I have the drive assigned to the libraries feature. So the only way I can safely remove the external drive is to remove the library feature. Is there way to keep the library feature on and still safely remove the external hard-drive?
Hi
I currently loook after 20 odd databases in SQL server 2005 and need a tool for monitoring the performance and keep me informed if a database is running slow. Is there anything I can run within Managment studio of any other good third party tool (Pref free) that can do the job.
Thanks
Hey,
Somehow I keep getting a not enough resources to install device whenever I try to install the hamachi network adapter, and I tried installing other tunneling services but their network adapters can't seem to install either.
How would I solve this, is there anywhere I can find more specific errors, then just this ?

How can I set Opera remember my view settings for web pages?
I don't want to have to keep manually adjusting the view while on a webpage

I have recently upgraded from XP to 7 and I am having trouble printing out some pictures.
In XP, if I were to select some pictures for printing the program would keep their orientation, and print them no problem.
Now with Windows 7, even if I select 1 picture to print in the same (wallet size (35)) it rotates the picture.
Is there anyway to rectify this within Windows?
I did take a screenshot, but as a new user I can't post it.
I have an EBS-backed Amazon EC2 instance. I would like to create a daily backup schedule, and keep, say, a week's worth of daily backups, plus a few older images (from 2,3,4 weeks ago). I don't mind creating the backups on the fly, with the snapshot mechanism, but I would like an easy wrapper to manage it for me.
What is the simplest way to set this up? How much would this cost me, for a micro instance?
I've got an AMD Athlon XP-2500+ host running 32-bit Ubuntu 9.10 (i686 2.6.31-20-generic kernel). Unfortunately, it appears that the clock drift on it is so bad (it advances close to an extra second every minute) that ntpd can't keep the machine in sync.
How do I deal with this so I can get ntpd working?
I want to build a linux machine to use as a test server (LAMP) and use SVN on it.
I am thinking maybe Ubantu as the OS but what hardware specs would I need. I think the entire site is less than a gig but if SVN is going to keep multiple versions than wouldnt I need a huge hard drive?
Any tips would be nice.
Thanks!!
Is there a way to tell winscp to keep the group and permission of my upload file? I am tired of modifying webpages/webapp binaries and needing to change the group to www-data so the server can read them.
If not what app might i use instead? I mostly use winscp for the easy of copy/pasting files onto my linux server and the ease of browsing the filesystem (can go between 2+ folders in a second, no typos)
For administrative purposes, I sometimes need to log in as another user to diagnose a problem with their account. I'd like to be able to do this without having to change their password so I don't have to keep bothering them. Under Unix, I can just save the encrypted password from the passwd file, change the password, then edit the old encrypted password back into the passwd file. Is there a way of doing something similar in AD?

How do you do Load Testing and Capacity Planning for Web Sites
I've seen tutorials saying they can run decent websites on 64MB RAM (Debian/Lighttpd/PHP/MySQL) however it's not clearly defined how much hits/traffic a "decent" site gets.
Is there a rule of thumb on how much RAM a web server needs? To keep things simple, let's say you're running a site with static content and it's averaging at 100,000 hits per hour (HTML + images combined, no MySQL). How much RAM is the minimum requirement for that?
I found that the sort result in ASCII:
1-
11-
and in UTF-8:
11-
1-
I feel it's so counter-intuitive, and it's not dictionary order.
Isn't the character '-' (002d) is always less then [0-9] (0030-0039)?
What's the general rule in UTF-8 collation?
And how to bypass it, just make - be less then [0-9] while keep other characters unchanged for UTF-8, in Linux? (So it can affects the result of ls --sort, sort, etc. )
I have number of directories under Apache webserver on linux.
I need a file - index.html in each directory. Can I keep a master index.html file in a specific location and tell apache to use this just incase there is no real index.html file in one of the sub directories ?
I had to throw a machine together in a bit of a hurry- to replace a machine that suddenly failed (no one had bothered to keep a "warm" backup)
It has Windows Server 2008 and SQL 2008
The snag is, I installed them off our MSDN subscription media, due to me not having "licensed" software.
I need to put this machine into production.
We are in the process of buying the licenses from a MS reseller now.
Is there a way to "convert" the MSDN license to production on both Windows Server and SQL?
I would like to run :helptags ~/.vim/doc in vim, but from command line.
The purpose is to run the command occasionally with other commands to keep
my tools up-to-date (probably in a cron job on my development machine.
I looked around man vim, but cannot figure out what option I need to pass.
I think this is a general question for vim, but I'm using Mac and Ubuntu for the development.
I use SyncbackSE on Windows to back up files between two hard drives daily.
Every time the application starts, it scans every single file in the directories that it watches before copying files that were added or modified.
To improve performance, I was wondering if there were a Windows backup application that would hook into Windows to keep tracks of files that were added/modified in given directories, so that it only needs to go through this list when it comes time for a backup.
Thank you.
